Amberon: about last year, the U.S govt slashed the price of gas by a third the normal price because gas got cheaper. Our useless government should learn.
If Nigerian Judges are like Judges everywhere else, Kanu just shot himself in the foot and bought himself a tougher and more experienced Judge that will not stand for his shenanigans or recuse himself from the case. He just got himself the Chief Judge.
PRYCE: He's not old enough to be my father but my grandfather!
My G-Dad is 78 but you don't see him in politics do you? He's resting well!... what's the dullard doing in politics at his age even after ruling Nigeria thirty years ago?
If you are a leader, you gotta be ready to deal with those.... GEJ dealt with em, why won't Buhari?
If a 78yr old man is old enough to be your Grand-Dad, then maybe you're too young to be getting in adult conversation?
Are you aware that mecca is a no go area for non muslims?
If Rome was like that and Jonathan visited Rome won't you muslims go up in arms?
I remember when Jonathan visited the wailing wall in Jerusalem some of you Muslims went berserk. Or can we forget how the likes of El Rufai mocked Jonathan on social media for kneeling down and praying in Church?
The fact that the evil house of Saud opened their pagan shrine to Buhari back in 1984 does not in anyway concern us who are not muslims as we don't give a damn about whatever honor or reverence this had to buhari's prestige as a despotic muslim.
Kappish?
You're African, how in the hell are you sounding this butt-hurt over foreign religions?!
NavierStokes: As far as Dasukigate is concerned We must believe everything that comes out. After all Dasuki has proven to be an honest singer, everyone he has mentioned so far has come out to confirm receiving money (discrepancies in the amount in some cases) except MALLAM Buhari who came out with a denial. If Buhari is truly innocent let him sue Dasuki for libel.
We all agreed without asking questions when names were mentioned, and no one should come to this thread to give logical explanations why we have to question the source in Buhari's case.
daretodiffer: They may not but they do have social security number/National Insurance
In some countries like Belgium you get an ID number once you click 16 (not quite sure). It is not uncommon to have a national ID card+passport.
Don't always be so eager to shoot a reply just for "because" sake; take the time to read, absorb, and comprehend then decide if you have anything worthwhile to add to the subject at hand.
Truckpusher: Good one bro , why would any Government take her citizen's biometrics to issue ordinary identification number ? People can decide to submit their identity to Governments scrutiny but myself will not participate in this thing.
It might be for the greater good but what happens if a tyrannical govt. takes over governance and decide to use it to silence every form of agitation thereby gagging the entire society ? Our Government should do what is obtainable internationally and not this biometrics I cannot trust any Government to have 100% information about my activities and my whereabouts. This will lead to tyranny and repression.
Well, for now, Nigeria being the way it is, I quite understand why its imperative that Biometrics be taken from this generation. What I will ask Nigerians to do is raise alarm if this program is allowed to become "permanent". Meaning, the next generation should not be subjected to this because the records of their parents (and their offsprings) have already been taken and registered in a vital statistics database.
egift: Nice one. Some may say it is a journey to One-World government, but a unification is best for governance than clusters of many moving unstable parts and records.
It bothers me that Nigeria takes the biometrics of its citizens to issue them identification numbers, we don't do that out here--- and neither does any country that I know of in the developed world; United States,U.K, Canada and Australia inclusive--- because we know the danger inherent. Only immigrants are required to be registered in that manner. Nigeria needs to shore up its Vitals Statics on how it collates and registers Births, Marriages and Deaths so that the next generation of Nigerians will not be subjected to this program.
Was it GEJ that told the companies not to fulfill their end of the bargain? Is the PMB government not still maintaining the illicit rice quota 6 months into the government? Is it not the same thing that is happening with fuel subsidy? Did the PMB government not pay the fraudulent marketers N400b a few weeks back.
You guys are the evil in Nigeria. POT calling KETTLE black. HYPOCRITES!!!
-Lord
You are insane! And that's the nicest word I can find to describe you. So, GEJ is not to blame because "the companies did not carry out their end of the bargain" but Buhari is to blame because "he has been in charge for 6 months" and just uncovered the fraud? And you dare call someone a hypocrite? You, Sir, are actually the evil plaguing Nigeria. You have no right condemning others.
prosperous13: As US begins export of crude oil, Nigeria’s crude oil may suffer further setback in the global market. The US Congress had on Friday approved the lifting of the ban as part of a $1.1tn spending bill. The bill was later signed by President Barack Obama. Following the lifting of the ban on the United States oil exports, US can now export crude for the first time in more than 40 years. An indication that Nigeria may soon lose its biggest customer. The US now buys a small amount of Nigerian crude oil due to the dramatic rise in domestic shale production. The growth in US light sweet crude oil production has resulted in a sizable decline in the country’s imports of crude grades of similar quality, such as Nigeria’s. Since June 2014, crude oil prices have been on the decline and this has consequently exacerbated the dwindling fortunes of the Nigerian crude, with the nation’s crude differentials trading at a 10-year low. There are reports of Nigerian crude currently floating on ships with a significant amount finding home in storage tanks rather than in refineries as a result of the supply glut in the global market, which is dominated by largely by light sweet crudes. Meanwhile, Kaduna refinery was said to have commenced production on Saturday. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, the managing director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) said the refinery was reopened to meet up with the December deadline for the four refineries to return to full production. While Nigerians await other refineries to commence full production as indicated by the PPMC, Nigerians are eager to witness the impact of this on the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country.
Name them, shame them, let's see their faces. I do not believe any cop was fired for corruption? How did you carry out such measure and you didn't think it proper to blast this news all over the news, newspapers and social media? How do you expect your claimed actions to serve as deterrent in the future?
I think someone is blowing smoke up Nigerian asses.
EUROBOMBER: Democracy can only survive when there is viable opposition to the government in power. Since the APC won the last presidential elections and Buhari took over as president of this country, two men have taken the burden of opposition upon themselves and I think this is commendable.
Every body cannot be shouting "Sai Baba" and pretending as though Buhari is another god that fell down from heaven. people should be able to tell Buhari the truth and say the hard facts no matter how it hurts.
Femi Fani Kayode & Ayo Fayose are two Yoruba men that history will remember. These men have decided to set themselves apart to ensure that the opposition stands. They might not be perfect men but I think they are doing a good job worthy of commendation.
Ladies & gentlemen I present Femi Fani kayode & Ayodele Fayose.
When 2 corrupt men that have held positions of power, but cannot point to any substantial impact they made to society are your heroes, it tells a lot about your mental development and moral standards. Especially when you consider that most normal people will regard both men as insane.
kettykings: Combined ignorance really, when a tribe that lost its people, property, influence and were given only #20 pounds for all their bank deposits 45 years has trounced and become more successful than you in every area of human endeavor, they have more real estate than you, produced more successful musicians, bankers movie artist, sports men, women, far produced more graduates, entrepreneurs, successful authors, artists etc and all you have is an unverified claim of taking advantage of them.
hedonistic: And then how do you compensate them for the public humiliation and barbaric treatment you just prescribed? How can they go back to their normal lives when by kicking down their doors and parading them in handcuffs and criminal robes in public, you have already damaged their public image and depicted them as guilty in the court of public opinion? Some of you are unreasonable.
There is a reason suspects are always deemed innocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the law. Besides it is not their duty to prove their innocence. It is the duty of the prosecuting authority to prove their guilt.
Barbaric?! Yes, go ahead and teach me how the law works. It's funny how you highlighted the part where I said they are free to continue their normal lives if they prove their innocence, but wilfully ignored the preceding statement where I said their guilt CAN and WILL be proven by the Prosecution. Stop being a criminal sympathizer.
You think you will be accused of treason the type Dasuki committed and you will saunter into my court room like a rock star? Or you will be accused of crimes the magnitude of Dokpesi's and you will tote cell phones as if you're in your living room? My point is you treat them that way because you have a ironclad case and their public image won't be dented because they are going to be convicted. They will not be "compensated" for anything like you suggested because their guilt will be proven and the next destination is prison. You will respect the court, you will subject yourself to its power and you will face the fact that you are half-way free, and will remain so until your innocence is fully proven. Until Nigeria learns to make the court, and judges, the most powerful institutions in the land, everything else will remain a joke. That's why you have instances where a Mr.Saraki will go to court and refuse to enter the witness box. You try that in my courtroom and I'll throw you in jail for contempt and I won't recall you for 3 days; by then hopefully you'd have come to your senses. And I'm only giving 3days in jail because of his position as senate president. Were he to be an ordinary citizen, I'd give him 3weeks, easily, to clear his brain of any madness that might have sought residence there.
Everything I analyzed is how it happens in the developed world which you are trying to emulate. If you do not want to be treated like I enumerated above, then do everything in your power to avoid coming in contact with law enforcement. Do not break the law or you will be treated like a criminal.
Why does Nigeria invite people that committed serious crimes against the nation to their office? To discuss what exactly?! You're supposed to be kicking down their doors in a early morning raid, and every time you take them to court they are supposed to be handcuffed with their hands behind their backs and dressed in state provided prison uniforms. That way, you're telling the world that they are criminals and that you CAN and you WILL establish their guilt. If they prove their innocence, then they can go back to their normal lives. But, "inviting" everyone to a cup of tea--- after overwhelming proof of guilt--- appears like the Prosecution is not that sure of its case.
drake22: This is why I hate this country. Picking up particular set of people cos of tribe. Before Allison become minister she is already rich. Remember his father was for naval chief and have companies. Post pix o of tinubu'son
Look at your life. Sentences full of grammatical errors. If all the money they stole had been invested in education you wouldn't have made a fool of yourself trying to complete such a simple task.
Onyocha: If it was in Nigeria, the army would have checked if the teenager has a ring on his hand. Then the ring would be called a weapon and the slap an assassination attempt. Just like the way catapults, sticks and stones held by some of the Shiites became objects of assassination on the army chief who was heavily guarded by well armed soldiers.
shaggyosas: As far as ur bubu vomits his own. 300,000 dollars, him fit keep the suvs
You do know that it's possible to be born, live till 110yrs old, then die without experiencing one electric blackout in your life or ever have a cop extort you for a bribes, right?
But the ignorance you constantly exhibit with your posts shows that your think poverty, hopelessness, and suffering is your destiny in life.
Pidggin: Why is it that APC never accepts requests for live debates? I recall the president even refused to attend presidential debates, why why why
Regarding our judiciary, we are fully aware that they are PRO-APC. The era of dictatorship and one party country may become a reality if the judicairy and INEC continues this way.
For a self proclaimed woman you reason like a deranged man.
philsweb: CAN THIS HAPPEN IN AFRICA? .................................................................................................................. A young man punched Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy hard in the head after managing to get next to him at a campaign appearance in the northern city where the politician grew up. The unidentified attacker was standing next to Mr Rajoy on a street in the city of Pontevedra in the Galicia region while he talked to a crowd, then pulled his arm back and delivered a left hook to Mr Rajoy’s left cheek. ................................................................................................................... Did the boy come with a weapon like the Shiite Muslims did? He didn't, thats why you don't see a swiss-cheesed body full of bullet holes laying on the ground.
KwoiZabo: you should be ashamed of yourself for mentioning Peter Obi. Tinubu and Lai Mohammed have sapped o sun state. Airport fencing in Osun State was given to Lai. Today Osun state allocation after deductions cannot pay NEPA bill for state secretariat while Anambra is raising salaries, Building flyovers and Federal roads. Shameless APC.
I thought Tinubu and Mr.Mohammed are from the Western and Northern parts of your country? Wasnt the discussion about your Eastern Brothers? And I mentioned Peter Obi because he was tighter to GEJ than a thong on a overweight Girl. So, yeah, he deserves a mention.
