Every person indicted in the arms deal scandal should be made to face the full wrath of the law. All the monies and assets acquired fraudulently should be confiscated by government and maximum sentences applied to serve as deterrent.

The Prosecution offers the plea agreement, and not the defendant. The Prosecution dictates the terms of how the case will be concluded. I'd say confiscate everything they own and ask for restitution to the state,then send a clear message by sentencing them to a term just below the Maximum required by law. For those that refuse to refund what they stole, sentence them to consecutive maximum sentences. That way others, in the future, would be wary about stealing from Government coffers.

Train them as professional policemen too and gradually phase out the AK-47 toting illiterates you currently have in uniform.

The Police is not required to show a warrant at the point of arrest insofar as they are not on YOUR private property. If he feels his arrest was unconstitutional and illegal then his lawyers know what writs to file to get him justice. Even though he was granted bail, he could also have been indicted in another district on another case that required his presence in court. A common tactic my office often used when I worked in DOJ was present a slew of charges at first in hopes that the defendant would "expose" his supporters when bail was set. Then once he reached bail, we unseal another indictment or charge him with a superceding indictment. So, now, not only will his remaining supporters flee, even he will become overwhelmed fighting so many cases at the same time and this would usually force him to quickly aim to settle the cases,even if it meant signing off to a plea agreement for as much as 20yrs (even Life imprisonment sometimes when we inform the defendant that because of the severity of the offense the Govt intended to seek the Death Penalty) because realization would've set in by then that he wasnt going nowhere anytime soon---not at least for a few decades ---and that there was no way he was beating all the charges filed against him.

They probably read him his Miranda rights and asked him to put his hands behind his back to be handcuffed and whisked away quietly, yet he blatantly refused the orders. Well, guess what? He deserves every treatment he got. If he hadn't stolen all that money, it could've probably been used to properly train the Police and he would have been treated more leniently and professionally. Did you see the environment the court was situated in? Is that how court grounds look in normal countries? So, just imagine how Prison in Nigeria must be like when the Police force and Judiciary look so unkempt. No wonder he was scared to leave with them.
Again, he shouldn't have stolen all that money. Now he has to deal with the consequences of his action.

It depends on the severity of the offense. Bail Bond is just assurance that you will show up for all the court proceedings otherwise your guarantors have to forfeit collateral put up to secure your release. Bail Bond is required when the individual is a Danger to society and/or Flight Risk. A flight risk is someone that has been charged to court and will/might have the incentive to flee before conclusion of the case typically because of its severity of and the probable sentence it carries.

Nigeria's Judges are either ineffective, undertrained, or compromised thus the leniency being shown a man that was involved in acts that almost destroyed not only Nigeria, but also the West African sub-region. Even though I don't know the whole facts of the case, If I was the Judge, I'd have denied bail because I believe Mr. Dokpesi is a flight risk and might even be considered a danger to society considering the damage to lives and property his irresponsible actions of spreading lies and propaganda caused the nation because of his media outfit.

Have anyone been wondering why the Former NSA having been speaking about this whole issue since his detention?

First, they seat him in a room and tell him that---based on the evidence---once he's charged to court he's never getting out of Prison and they might seek the death penalty because of the destruction and loss of human lives that can be linked to him and his actions.

Then, they let him see the clear truth of the whole situation : he's already convicted, a goner and it'll be a very, very long time before he's a free man again. So, the best he can do for himself is stay alive and make sure he doesn't lose every single property of his so his family doesn't die in penury. And the only way to do that is to cooperate and expose the other actors in the scheme.

He will be convicted, he will be sentenced to a very long prison stretch and almost all his properties will be seized. He knows it and he has come to terms with that. But at this point, Dasuki just doesn't want to die
