Factor in not more than 50 hours per week for yourself (UK have working time directives that limit maximum hours worked). Work that at £9.18 per hour, and take away 30% off that for tax and National Insurance. Then increase your monthly living expense to £1.5k and drop Naira exchange to N770 and you'll be closer to a more realistic scenario. Assume no children in all these cos childcare costs won't allow you work at minimum wage
Thank you, this is really appreciated.

By 2019, Osinbajo was in support of subsidy.
It's easy to talk, quote stats, and have solution when power is not in your hands, you are sure that everything you will do be successful.
Reality is often disappointing.

I am not too optimistic for 2023 elections, whoever wins, it's most likely same story, some people will just be more comfortable with who is power, that's all.
It is not most likely, it's the same story. Anyone with a contrary view is living in Disney world.

Yes o cos naija will frustrate you until you get comfortable being trampled on.

Recently about 300 telecom workers lost their jobs when a major telecom company in Nigeria shutdown operation but the Nigeria media didn’t carry it. Imagine people that have worked for almost 10 years suddenly lose their jobs and had to start writing letters and attending interviews.

Frustration is not always borne out of poverty but living in a system that doesn’t work should make every right thinking human frustrated
Which telecom company is this?

I'm not defending them, there's nothing to defend . Strike is a legal means of protest under the law.

Onyema is a civil servant who is not going to work when he does not have any legal grievance to sort with the government. ASUU are a union exercising their right to protest under the law.

Go and mark this, the government will pay the striking lecturers at the end of the whole grandstanding. No government has been able to use blackmail or "no-work-no-pay" to force the hand of University lecturers union till date.

What I did was point it out to sean who has always defended the government that there are elected officials who don't discharge their duties yet get paid humongous amounts, but it is lecturers fighting for their right that is his headache...
I will be very disappointed if they pay. They are the ones encouraging this madness. You pay them and next year they come with another strike again.

Wike refused to pay Judicial workers who went on strike in Rivers state, heaven did not fall. If not Buhari, I hope to one day have a president who will call their bluff.

Onyema is a thief, what did ASUU steal?
They are fighting for their rights
If a president can spend majority of his tenure abroad, lawmakers not on duty what is stopping ASUU from striking and still insist on full payment too

I believe we are all equal, laws shouldn't be applicable to A and not B
If a president spends majority of his tenure abroad for one reason or the other, he delegates his duty to the Vice president. The work continues.

These ones did not work at all, nothing was delegated to anyone and they are requesting to be paid for zero work done.

These guys at these point are bullying the Federal Government, their employers if I may add.

Bro in all of this, know thyself and know thy wife. I don't know if I may sound like a pessimist but try and measure the love shared between urself and Ur wife. I've heard cases of women being financially independent abroad and then deciding they want to divorce their hubby. I read a case of a woman after the husband had sacrificed for the family ( for her to get trained as a registered nurse) only for her to get good job at NHS and then part ways with him. The man murdered her cos he just couldn't bear the betrayal and was sent to jail for it.

I'm saying this because of the part where u said u will switch to masters after she complete hers and she will be the one earning more while u go on with Ur studies. Some women once they start providing for the household their loyalty/love gets tested.

Be sure u are both on the same page before going through with this Ur strategy.

After five years of continuous residence in the UK, you can apply for permanent residence if you meet other requirements related to your specific visa. some Caveat dey sha. This is why I dey look that UK student visa Japa route with one corner eye. Most times when I sit in my quite time I do imagine what UK will look like in 2 to 3 years time when most people must have been through with their Masters and everyone will be job hunting.

Will the UK Labour market be ready to absorb many Nigerians who by then will be carrying a UK masters degree after spelling cars and other properties back here to facilitate the degree program?

What will be the fate of those who will be unfortunate to land jobs? ( Because definitely the competition will be rife between Nigerians, graduates of other African countries who went to the UK for the same purpose and UK citizens with British passports)

It's looking like the system was designed to make as much money for the UK economy and u are left to Ur own fate to sort things out.....Literally " GO HARD OR GO HOME"

As I dey I dey reason Scandinavian countries like Finland and co but I don't know much about their immigration paroles and moving with family and stuff. Then I don't know how receptive to a blackman in those places and how prosperous they are economically sha
This is what I think and what my plan is. Make una no laugh me sha, part of it may be out of ignorance. Just my wild thought. cheesy

I am married, I can afford the cost of relocating which is study visa for my wife and me the dependant plus POF for 9 months.

My wife can do 20 hours of work per week and I work as long as possible as the dependant. I understand a realistic cost of living monthly is about 1200 pounds.

Now I'm very hardworking. I usually have no problems doing things people consider too difficult to do. Worst case scenario, assuming I'm unable to get a white collar job and I do a 10 pound/hour job, I can work 12 hours per day. That's roughly 3400 pounds per month. My wife earns 800 pounds per month. Total 4200 pounds . We are able to save 3000 pounds as a family monthly.

In 4 years( 2 years masters for her and 2 years post study) we have a savings of 144,000 pounds.

After 4 years, I'll switch to masters and she'll be the dependent which will allow us another 4 years of stay. She may not be able to work as hard as I worked. So let's say a modest 40 hours per week for her and 20 for me. This will give us another 67000 pounds in another four years. Add together, we have 211,000 pounds.

Assuming naira maintains it's current rate against the pound at 840 naira, that's 180m.

That's more than enough to live a good life back in Nigeria if we have no means of staying back in the UK.

I have checked job vacancies in the UK as it relates to what I do here in Nigeria and I should be able to slot into the job market without issues . The job need not give me sponsorship I don't care.
However, I'm working with a worst case scenario that we never get a good job and just do basic low wage jobs in 8 years.

If we get jobs with sponsorship, fine. If not, we come back to Nigeria better than we left.

Again, just my wild thoughts grin. Reality may be different from all of these grin

I'm just very glad that Obi's support have far surpassed what people thought it would be. They've seen how this man have SINGLEHANDEDLY gained national appeal.

When the movement started, people said Obi can't even win his state, then they said he can't win the east, now they're saying he can only win SE and SS.

Well, let's see but all the same I'm glad you've realized and I'm sure happy with the fact that Peter Obi is now a national phenomenon.

He's not perfect but he's the perfect person for this time. The perfect person would perhaps have been someone who hasn't ever tested Nigerian politics before but then we would have said that having no experience of leadership at all is a dangerous thing in this perilous times.

I wish you well bro.

Sometimes they have thunder strike, equipment( radios, routers, e.t.c) gets damaged, the vendors refuse to install another set of equipment till the earthen system is rectified.

There's also a financial angle where the banks have to negotiate the cost of damaged equipment with the vendors.

I've seen branches go down for days because of issues like these. It's not necessarily because of inefficiencies on the part of the bank.
