Telecom companies have too many competitions to deal with
They snooze they lose a lot of customers
Unlike DStv they are on their own league they still have to create a mini competition from their own (gotv)
If those guys have serious competition NBC don't need to regulate them before they give their self brain
True grin. Reminds me of AFCON. Initially refused to broadcast because they lost the bid. When news came out that NTA will air it, they somehow found a way to air it as well.

Will try that showmax stuff once my current sub expires. Thank God Chelsea is not in the Champions league and no hope of going next season. grin

I have less incentive to watch it.

It may come back to the old essential vs luxury.

Cable TV is a luxury but telecommunications may as well be a human right at this point. And the telcos can get by on volume.
Good point. Maybe now that they have declared 700bn+ loss, they may force NCCs hands.

It's always been like this, that 80k is for people with extreme needs, the 38k has always been more than enough both in speed and quantity of data available...it's unlimited.

Even that 80k for 1tb, priority, the 1tb is for that extreme speeds, after which the speed reduces to like the speeds of the 38k which is still like 3* faster than mtn on the average and way more stable. Starlink no get mate for now in terms of the quality of what they're offering.

Just seeing the new cost of the hardware...omor 800k is mad increase from like 388k or so. These things are priced in USD sha, so it's only fair there's a price increase in Naira.

If they're increasing cost of hardware doesn't that mean cost or subscription is at risk too?

Well I'm expecting cost of data to increase even for mtn in coming months...they obviously won't keep posting this level of loss and remain in business.
A better comparison will be this against MTNs enterprise service offerings and not the general data we use on our phones.

For 400k and monthly fee of 100-150k, MTN will give you a 2MB unlimited service. You can use and download as much as you want. There is no cap on the data itself but the utilisation is capped at 2MB.

A radio is installed at your house/office with frequencies specific to MTN network which means there will be no interference.

Starlink has a latency of about 38ms which is actually not bad.

However, some of these radios can give you average latency of 1-5ms. No way starlink can beat the speeds you get from MTN.

I remember reading somewhere that NCC is preventing telcos from increasing price. I don't know how they are able to do that or if its even true seeing as they can't prevent DSTV from doing the same.

Always wondered how Elon was maintaining his 400k hardware cost. He has eventually increased it. And even 80k for 1Tb service? I thought people said the 38k had no usage limit

Cast is suppose to show exactly what you are watching on your phone screen, not the phone internal storage. Are you sure you connected it well? You can check YouTube videos on how to connect phone to TV using Chromecast.

Using TV cast you suppose connect your phone to TV
Both on same network though
