customs exchange rate dropped recently, I mean this same yesterday

So what ever i qoute here are based on the current input and output of customs
You're right. Customs rate dropped which will put the cost at 7m from my end. I still don't see how 6m clears it but you're the expert here so I rest my case.

Bayobab, MTN gives the impression that these are two distinct companies.

MTN globalconnect rebranded as Bayobab. Essentially, this was MTN through and through.

Big kudos

Another is to increase other things we export not just crude cos when crude oil prices drop the shege wont be part 2
That one na long thing. Crude oil and it's derivatives represent more than 80% of our total export followed by natural gas with 11%. Wetin con remain again?

The easiest way for us to earn dollar is still from crude oil export.

So you don't know banks are one of the major criminals that's doing this to naira. Those bank mds sell the dollar given to them to abokis. No be last two weeks CBN told the Banks to offload the dollars they're packing. Those modafuckers are criminals, this is the same thing they're doing to new currency. They sell it to the POS people instead of giving it to us. Imagine the dollars banks had but you can't access dollar in banks rather they will call an abokis to buy it from.
Up until 2016 or thereabout, banks were begging people to do PTA. Once CBN allocates money to you and you don't exhaust it, they will reduce your allocation. It was a serious hustle by banks.

I remember then buying things on Ali express was as easy as just using your naira GTB card.

What changed? Supply from CBN dried off. Remember when they restricted us to 20 dollar per month transactions on naira card. Now it's not even working again.

Once a commodity becomes scarce, people will always hoard and round-trip. That is why most economists keep hammering on supply.

Like someone said, no one hoards recharge card. Make it scarce today and people will start hoarding to sell for profit.

The bolded, is it the banks you're referring to?
Yes, banks. Once CBN can meet demand through the banks, the reliance on Aboki will be far less.

Some clever by half person probably advised Tinubu's government to go for a 2 pronged attack .

They clamp down on binance as a platform providing P2P service for those who want to buy virtual dollars and go after BDC operators for those that want to buy physical dollars .

What that advisor didn't tell them is that it is just a temporary solution that won't achieve much success in the long run .

Why ? Because the BDC operators will lie low for a while and not converge at their regular selling points like broad street on Lagos island , Eko hotel roundabout and other locations where abokia converge physically to sell dollars . This only mean dollar will be more scarce and when those abokis decide to sell codedly it will be at a price reflecting scarcity of dollars .

The binance and other FX exchange ban is also a temporary fix that won't hold for long . Other platforms will come up and both buyers and sellers will still transact business albeit with attendant risks .

Everybody knows these strategies will not hold for too long , but let's wait and see where it will lead to
They know all these things. They know they are just grasping at straws.

Until they can supply us dollar on the spot like they used to, people will keep going to Aboki. Abi where else are you supposed to get dollar from?

And If you check twitter, several screenshots from binance have been flying around. It's either all those people are outside the country or people are bypassing the access restriction already.

I seriously pray they succeed in pulling down the price. My average price is 1098 and I've been waiting for this pullback since October last year.

I don't know why you people can see clearly the manipulation those merchants are using binance to do. This is illegal, binance and FG has to act if not tomorrow you will see dollar @3000.

This is why some countries are calling for cryptocurrency to be regulated.

I don't think they will ban crypto, for now blocking access to it until everything is normalized. That's it.
Will blocking access to it stop anyone from accessing it?

You even remember. They said I was hating cheesy

What most people don't know is that, those in procurement use black market rate +300 when arriving at cost price.

Lets say Dangote needs to import raw sugar and he gets dollar at 1500. When calculating his cost of production, he will record it as 1800 so he can hedge. This 1800 is what will be transferred to the customer.

Meanwhile, you that bought dollar at 1500 and sold at 1800 will go and buy sugar that has been priced at 1800.

I pity people wey go vote Bola Ahmed Tinubu, na them put us for this mess. $1 = 1800 naira. well its a win for me, my investment just double.

i saw this coming, told everybody here to invest in dollar when it was 750 naira, they refused and criticised me, now it is happening with no end in sight
I thought you said Naira will appreciate against the dollar in 2024. You dey follow lofty promises by clueless government officials. How far with the digitisation?

GeneralZodd:
Buying more might be a very big risk, from the information I got from an impeccable source, FG wants to digitise dollar in Nigeria. Like turn into crypto form to curb hoarding and speculation. Hoarders and speculators are the major reasons why the rate is astronomically high. This policy is likely to be implemented next year.

I will stop buying as from next year to see how it goes
Itsrm:
The only reason it's still at this rate is because CBN is seriously defending it on the I&E
window. You can only speculate on a scarce commodity. It is high because CBN has no dollar to meet demand not because of speculators. The people hoarding it know CBN has no dollars to permanently force down the price.

Long term, the naira will always lose till they are ready to turn around the country. Funny enough, they have even borrowed the future earnings from NNPC which is the primary source of Fx to defend the naira.

I'm not seeing any sign of seriousness to stabilise the naira beyond lofty promises.

Now ask yourself, will the thread make the car leave the USA any faster?

The dollar jumped from 1600 to 1825 today, expecting the min of finance to jump on it and increase duty. Whose fault?

Business sometimes has its ups and downs in the real world.
Maybe not but it will prevent others from making the same mistake of using him.

Used kakaki once. He delivered but car came with a major issue which he blamed on oversight.

I know cars with pending title are always clearly stated with letter P(if I'm not mistaken)

How did he miss it? Perhaps, just another oversight in a long list of "oversights"
