https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/baldness.jpg?6888b7 A consultant dermatologist, Dr Glory Iwuchukwu, on Monday identified genetic factors, stress and poor nutrition as the major causes of baldness in middle aged men. Dr Iwuchukwu, who works at the Lagos University teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. She defined baldness as a condition that caused hair loss along the hairline at the top of the head or temples and progressed back towards the base of the skull. She explained that men whose fathers had experienced baldness were more likely to experience hair loss themselves and that it usually occurred in men with male-pattern baldness due to genetic factors. “Genetic factor is the most common cause of baldness among middle aged men because it’s been passed from one generation to the other. “This genetic factor varies; it could be inherited from either parents but in most cases fathers can easily pass on the trait which would be possible if it were X chromosomes,” she said. Iwuchukwu said that another cause of baldness was emotional stress and fatigue due to lack of good sleep which was the common factor among Nigerian men. “A lot of people who do not get adequate sleep are stressed and this can cause hair loss. In Nigeria, we do not sleep well because we want to meet up with our life`s needs. “And once there is alteration in our sleeping pattern, it affects the body’s immune function, hormone secretion and physical and mental stamina,’’ she said. Iwuchukwu said that the hair was very sensitive to changes within the body and baldness was always the consequence of such an internal disturbance, she said. The consultant also cited inadequate nutrition as another cause of baldness. “Drinking water to keep the body hydrated and eating foods and fruits with vitamins could play an important role in keeping the hair follicles and the skin of the scalp healthy. “At least the intake of six to eight glasses of water daily is the usual recommended amount for an average person,’’ she said. She, however, advised that adequate nutrition, reduced stress and adequate sleep could be helpful in slowing or preventing baldness. According to Iwuchukwu, some forms of surgery, such as hair transplant and scalp reduction are also used to treat baldness though they can be both expensive and painful. http://dailypost.ng/2015/04/21/stress-poor-nutrition-causes-baldness-in-middle-aged-men-dermatologist/ |

The pedestrian bridge which is currently under construction was designed to checkmate the high rate of accident involving pedestrian at the densely populated area. According to sources, the pedestrian bridge collapsed on the moving taxi at about 5.00 pm and it is believed that all five passengers including the driver were killed. It was further gathered that the occupants of the cab were trapped, and it will take the assistance of a crane to remove the trapped persons from the squeezed vehicle. anigold:Don't mind the fooliish idiott, he is the narrow and shallow minded type and many of his kind in this country. They've deliberately refused to see anything good from an outstanding fellow like GEJ who paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep this country together even when the so called world powers like US et al predicted a disintegrated Nigeria. |
President Jonathan is a good man. He's just a month away from leaving as president of Nigeria and he could have signed this constitutional amendment bill that doesn't particularly concern him anymore but he refused to. Does the President have anything to lose if he does that? I don't think so. For those who don't know what's going on, allow me to lecture you. The Nigerian Senate is trying to amend the 1999 constitution to the effect that it will whittle down some executive powers of the President and give more power to the legislature and judiciary. If amended, it means there are some decisions and actions the president can't take without the consent of the National Assembly and there will be decisions the National Assembly can take without the consent of the president. Like I said, GEJ could sign this and walk away but instead he refused to sign it. He wrote a 7-page letter to the Senate explaining why he declined to sign the document into law. But now, the National Assembly is saying that after 30 days, if the president doesn't sign the document, they will override his veto. Meaning that they will give themselves the power to amend the constitution without the president's signature. Now the federal government has instituted a suit at the Supreme Court to nullify the proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution. Indeed, PGEJ is a good leader. One thing i strongly believe is that in months and years to come, Nigerians will realize that we have thrown away a good leadership. GEJ believed so much in the entity called Nigeria this is humble view. Credit: LIB

PassingShot:I just don`t know when fools like you will ever learn to reason well like every other conventional humans. Your foolishness is extra ordinary. Let me hint you: We are celebrating GEJ because he took it upon himself and bear the cross of many that would have been a victim of "Post Election Massacre" if he had not timely intervene by calling your so call President-Elect Buhari. It is shameful that he Buhari couldn`t do same during the 2011 General election that lead to the killings of over 800 innocent individuals including NYSC Copers. GEJ paid the ultimate sacrifices to ensure such didn`t repeat itself and I just hope your so-called President-Elect power hungry learnt from this development. |

Many Nigerians are deep into the belief of this dead God that they no longer use their brains when commenting on tragedies because they have all been brainwashed into believing their existence is owed to a fable God sold to them by Isrealites who are far worse in commiting crimes against humanity in terms of war and killing innocent people. A four month old baby survived the earth quake and i was surprised to see some people thanking God for her survival
