Sir; let us examine your service records. I consider your
generation a very privileged one, indeed. In 1975 at the
age of 33, you were appointed the Military Governor of
the North-Eastern State, present day Borno & Yobe
states.
In 1976 at the age of 34 you became the Minister for
Petroleum and Natural Resources. In 1978 at the age of
36 you became the Chairman of the Nigeria National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Today the reverse is the case. Most Nigerians at age of
35 are still unemployed and still living with parents.
Many are still not married. During your time you were
already Governor at this age. One major reason for this
unfortunate turn of events is that many elders like you
have refused to voluntarily handover the baton to the
next generation. Life should be a relay race where one
runs his race and hands over to the next. In Nigeria
many elders like you have run their races and are still
holding on tenaciously to the baton.
But Sir, I have an important question here for you. The
question is simple; MUST YOU SERVE NIGERIA AS A
PRESIDENT ONLY? IS THERE NO OTHER CAPACITY
YOU CAN SERVE US EXCEPT THE PRESIDENCY?
It is very erroneous to imagine that you can only serve
Nigeria only in one capacity. During the regime of late
General Sani Abacha, you accepted the appointment to
serve as the Chairman of the then Petroleum Trust Fund
PTF.
The general opinion was that you served faithfully in
this capacity. Well done Sir! But you never asked
Abacha to vacate office for you as your former
subordinate in the army. Never! In fact that would have
been a dangerous move, if not suicidal. Rather you
served faithfully under your former junior in the army.
Sir, imagine if you take on another job like the Chairman
of EFCC or ICPC or NDLEA. Nigerians actually need you
to serve in one of these capacities much more than they
need you in the Presidency. Mere mentioning your name
as Chairman of EFCC would drive many corrupt men
underground. But you wouldn’t. Either the Presidency or
nothing. When are you going to handover to the next
person? It is either you do it voluntarily or risk disgrace
at the polls. In 1983 at the age of 41, you became the
Head of State.
Most Nigerians in my age have not had the opportunity
to serve, but we still remain committed to the Nigerian
project. You should rather be graceful to God and to
Nigerians for the numerous opportunities that have
come your way to serve Nigerians. Others are begging
for just one opportunity to serve. Sir, you have to accept
the stark reality on ground that you have served your
time already. That is life for you. You run the race, you
handover the baton for others to run, you cannot hold
on to the baton more than is necessary. As a former
head of State you are already a member of the Council
of State Meeting. You have every avenue to channel
your views across. You don’t necessarily have to be in
a frontline role, you can serve in an advisory capacity.
That is still service.
In conclusion, let me state that the greatest beneficiary
should you emerge candidate of the APC would be
President Jonathan. It is crystal clear that you cannot
defeat President Jonathan in a free, fair and credible
election, even in Katsina State. Sentiments aside,
Jonathan would cruise to a landslide victory should you
emerge candidate of the APC. In fact many political
analysts believe that President Jonathan wants you to
emerge as the APC flag bearer in order to secure a
cheap victory. In fairness to you, any of your Children
would pose a serious challenge to Jonathan more than
yourself.
I do not see Nigerians electing a 72 year old former
Head of state to lead us in this Digital era. With due
respect to you Sir, you belong to the Analogue age and
therefore, will not fit in as president in this digital era.
This is the blunt truth. Please do not enter the Guinness
book of world records on a negative note. Losing four
consecutive Presidential elections would not augur well
for your reputation. It is in your best interest to assume
your position as an elder statesman and allow others to
serve. Nigeria does not belong to you alone. It belongs
to us all.

This handout explains what a curriculum vitae (CV) is, how it differs from a resume, and how you can decide which one to use. Before you start
To decide whether to submit a CV or a resume, you will need to determine which of them most appropriately fits the criteria provided by the employer, grant agency, or scholarship or internship committee who will be reading your application. Often, the application instructions for a particular position will state whether a CV or resume is requested. If you are unsure, it is worth your time to contact the agency and ask which would be most appropriate for the position.

What is the difference between a resume and a CV? What do they typically include?
Let’s start with a quick overview of resumes, since they are more familiar to most American writers than CVs. A typical resume is a general and concise introduction of your experiences and skills as they relate to a particular career or position that you are aiming to acquire. As such, a resume may have to be altered for each position that you are applying for so as to emphasize those skills and experiences most relevant to the work. Resumes are usually no more than one page in length. They are often accompanied by cover letters, which provide a permanent written record of the transmittal of the resume (what is being sent, to whom it is being sent, and who sent it).

A typical resume will include the following information:
Name and Contact Information: your residential address might be most appropriate,
especially if you do not want your current employer to know that you are looking for
another job!
Education: a listing of your degrees or certifications and educational institutions or
programs.
Work Experience: names of the companies or organizations that you have worked for, the
location of each company, the dates worked, your job title, and duties performed.


In contrast, a CV is a fairly detailed overview of your life’s accomplishments, especially those most relevant to the realm of academia. As such, these documents have their greatest utility in the pursuit of a job in academia or research. Because academic researchers are often working on and completing many projects and teaching responsibilities simultaneously, it is wise to think of a CV as a living document that will need to be updated frequently. A typical CV for someone in the beginning stages of his or her graduate school career might only be two or three pages in length, while the number of pages of a more seasoned researcher’s CV may run into the double digits. In both CVs and resumes, information within sections is usually organized chronologically.

A typical CV will include the following information:
Name and Contact Information: contact information for your current institution or place of employment may work best, unless you do not want your colleagues to know that you are job-hunting.
Areas of Interest: a listing of your varied academic interests.
Education: a list of your degrees earned or in progress, institutions, and years of graduation. You may also include the titles of your dissertation or thesis here.
Grants, Honors and Awards:[b] a list of grants received, honors bestowed upon you for your work, and awards you may have received for teaching or service.
[b]Publications and Presentations: a list of your published articles and books, as well presentations given at conferences. If there are many of both, you might consider having one section for publications and another for presentations.
Employment and Experience: this section may include separate lists of teaching experiences, laboratory experiences, field experiences, volunteer work, leadership, or other relevant experiences.
Scholarly or Professional Memberships: a listing of the professional organizations of which you are a member. If you have held an office or position in a particular organization, you can either say so here or leave this information for the experience section.

Additional considerations
Use common sense when formatting. There are no universal guidelines for how to format or organize a resume or CV. However, some commonsense guidelines may apply. If you are concerned that your resume or CV might appear too busy or misaligned, click on Print Preview in your word processing program and evaluate the consistency of your use of space in the document. Fonts and font sizes: go with the flow It is a good idea to stick to commonly used fonts such as Times New Roman or Arial when creating a resume or CV. Fonts such as Bauhaus or Old English Text might have their place in other writing projects, but these might distract the reader and pull their attention away from the content you want them to read. Perhaps with the exception of your name, the use of a uniform font size throughout the document will also keep the reader focused on your accomplishments.

Cover letters
In a cover letter, keep your remarks brief. Your opening should explain what you are sending and why. In an optional second paragraph, you might include a summary of the information you are sending. A letter accompanying a proposal, for example, might point out sections in the proposal that might be of particular interest to the reader. The letter could then go on to present a key point or two explaining why the writer’s firm is the best one for the job. The closing paragraph should contain acknowledgements, offer additional assistance, or express the hope that the material will fulfill its purpose.

compatriots, when a group and their supporters say
"Certificates are not important" while another group
says "Western Education is Haram"; are they not of the
same philosophy & persuasion? Let me harmonize the
points I have highlighted in this discussion so far:
(1) The document purporting to emanate from the
Katsina State Ministry of Education/Government
Secondary School, Katsina is a complete forgery. It
purports to be Pa BH's Statement of result but can
never be so. Most of us on this forum all went to
secondary School too, so take your minds back. After
sitting for WAEC, that exams body sends the results of
ALL the Students that sat for the exams from a school
to that School. The School Authorities then prepare a
Statement of Result for each Student in which the
scores of each student is set out. This is done on the
school's letter-headed paper, signed by the Principal or
other appropriate officer and stamped. This is the first
official document each student gets of their WAEC result
because the WAEC Certificates take between 3-5 years
after the exam before they are ready. It is this
Statement of Result that most people use in gaining
admission to University or employment or recruitment
into the Military as the case may be and not even the
Certificate which comes later. The point is that this
Statement of Result has both an original and duplicates.
The School keeps the duplicates while giving the
Original to the Student. Today, I have both my WASC
Statement of Result on my Secondary School letter-
Headed paper and the WAEC issued WASC which I
collected some years after I finished Secondary School.
THE POINT HERE is that Pa Buhari's old School should
have photocopied and certified their office duplicate
copy of the Statement of Result which they issued to
him in 1961. It will be on the letter-head of the
Provincial School as at that time, signed by the
appropriate officers as at 1961 & with his passport
photograph as at 1961. So when, Pa BH applied for a
copy of his Statement of Result from his old School,
they only needed to go through the files containing their
office duplicate copies of Statement of Results year by
year until they get to the file for 1961 where they will
find a duplicate copy of Pa BH's Statement of Result
issued in 1961, photocopy it, certify it and give it to
him. The only place the date of 2015 will appear is on
the certification stamp. This worthless document
provided by Pa BH is a forgery. If he lost his original
Statement of Result issued in 1961 having his passport
photo as at then, did his School also loose their own
copy that led them to purportedly prepare another
document in 2015 instead of photocopying and certifying
the Statement of Result they issued him in 1961?
(2) The current forged document being celebrated by Pa
BH's supporters was purportedly based on a
"Cambridge printout" of results for WASC of 1961. I
have already pointed out in my earlier contributions that
this is another shameless falsehood. Cambridge
University had no links or role whatsoever in the
conduct or certifying of WASC as at 1961. While it is
true that Cambridge & London Universities started the
organization & conduct of the WASC examinations, the
Colonial Governments in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone
and Liberia established by Ordinances, the West African
Examinations Council (WAEC) in 1952. From 1952
WAEC, an independent body totally took over the
conduct and certification of WASC. So in 1961, it was
WAEC and not Cambridge University that conducted the
exams purportedly taken by Pa BH. It had absolutely
nothing to do with Cambridge and so any so-called
"Cambridge printout" is a total forgery.
(3) To make matters worse, the purported Cambridge
printout from where the Katsina Ministry of Education/
Secondary School obtained the data it published as the
Statement of Results for Pa BH, contains the name of
Shehu Musa Yar'Adua as a candidate for the WASC of
1961. Again this is complete and utter falsehood.
Yar'Adua joined the Army in 1959 and by 1964 he had
already graduated from Sandhurst in England. There
was therefore no way he could have sat for the WASC
with Pa BH in 1961 which is two years after he had
already joined the Army. It is clear that Pa BH is not a
man of honor; he built his entire career on falsehood
and deceit. He is still thriving on deceiving Nigerians by
pretending anti-corruption credentials while hobnobbing
with some of the most corrupt & certificate forging
Nigerians like Tinubu, Atiku, Amaechi, etc. Mentioning
his name and anti-corruption in the same breath is a
travesty. He swore to an affidavit on Oath that ALL his
documents were with the Army.
When the Army burst that lie from the pit of hell, he
recanted and said he swore to that oath on an
"assumption". He then proceeded to assume that his
school has them and promised to get it from them. But
alas, the school does not have a copy of the exact
Statement that was allegedly issued to him by them in
1961; instead, they quickly forged another mockery of a
document in January 2015 purportedly based on data
from a fictitious "Cambridge printout". In doing this, the

Lagos - Thousands of chickens have been culled in southern Nigeria after the discovery of bird flu in some poultry farms, the local health authorities said on Tuesday. State government officials in the financial capital, Lagos, and the oil city of Port Harcourt, said they had ordered the cull to prevent the spread of the
disease. Lagos State agriculture commissioner Gbolahan
Lawal said birds were found to be infected in two locations, in the south of the city during the Christmas and New Year festivities. "The bird samples were sent to the National Veterinary Research Institute in Vom, Plateau State, and they were unfortunately found positive for the
H5 strain of avian influenza," he added. The affected farms were quarantined and there have been no reported cases since, he said, warning poultry farmers and sellers to report any high death rates of birds.
In Port Harcourt, 435km to the southeast, the Rivers State government said it had killed "hundreds of birds" in a farm hit by the virus. Agriculture commissioner Emma Chinda said the authorities received a report on 14 January that a farm may have been infected and laboratory tests later confirmed the presence of the virus.
"On the basis of that, we had to take necessary steps. Apart from quarantining the farm, we had to depopulate the birds in the farm to stop further spread," Chinda added.
Officials said there was no indication the outbreak in Africa's most populous country was the H5N1 strain, which has killed more than 400 people worldwide since it first appeared in 2003. The World Organisation for Animal Health said: "The Nigerian authorities are investigating and monitoring the situation and they will report the updated information in their next follow-up report."

The presidency has denied that it would not hand over to Muhammadu Buhari if the opposition candidate is elected in next month’s election. Mr. Buhari’s campaign office had on Saturday issued a statement saying an official in the office of the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, posted the message on his social media platforms. “The Blackberry Messenger (BBM) statement by Deji Adeyanju, an official in the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, said ‘Buhari can never be President of Nigeria.
Quote me any day any time. Instead of Buhari to become President of Nigeria, Nigeria would rather break. A military coup will even be allowed than for Buhari to become the president of a democratic Nigeria quote me any day, any time,” Buhari’s campaign said in the statement by Garba Shehu, its spokesperson. Mr. Okupe’s office said the claim by the Buhari campaign is false.

In a statement, Sunday, signed by Bamidele Salam, the presidency said “we categorically deny that this statement was ever made by anyone in this office. “The APC claim is absolutely false, mischievous and malicious,” it said. Although, the Buhari campaign said the alleged statements were posted on Facebook and Blackberry Messenger, the presidency made no reference to the two platforms. N’Djamena (AFP) – Tens of thousands of people joined
a march in N’Djamena on Saturday in support of
Chadian troops heading to Nigeria and Cameroon to
fight the Islamist group Boko Haram.
Marching some five kilometres (three miles) through
Chad’s capital, demonstrators waved the national flag
and chanted in French and Arabic: “Kick the forces of
evil out of our territory.”
Prime Minister Kalzeube Pahimi Deubet said the march
sent “a strong signal, a warning to Boko Haram”.
The event came as a huge convoy set off from
N’Djamena to combat the Islamists sowing terror in
northeastern Nigeria and northern Cameroon.
Thousands of people hailed the arrival of some 400
vehicles in the Cameroonian border town of Kousseri, an
AFP journalist reported.
Early this month Boko Haram launched a full-scale
assault on the strategic town of Baga on the banks of
Lake Chad, which straddles the borders of Chad,
Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon.
Chad is part of a regional force against Boko Haram
that was based in Baga — but both Chad and Niger had
withdrawn their troops before the January 3 attack.
Chadian President Idriss Deby said in a speech read by
the speaker of parliament that the new deployment
aimed to recapture Baga.
But Nigeria expressed lukewarm support fot the Chad
mission on Saturday.
“All support for our operations will be welcome, but it
must conform with our own ongoing operations,”
Nigerian army spokesman Chris Olukolade told AFP.
The Cameroon government said on Monday that its
army killed 143 Boko Haram fighters who had attacked
a military base in the northern town of Kolofata.
This week French President Francois Hollande and US
Secretary of State John Kerry accused Boko Haram of
committing crimes against humanity, while a top UN
official, Leila Zerrougui, called for a regional response to
the crisis.
Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, who heads
the regional Economic Community of West African
States, called Friday for a “specific plan of action to end
the problem of terrorism” in Africa.
Satellite pictures released by Amnesty International and
Human Rights Watch last week showed around 3,700
buildings in Baga and nearby Doron Baga damaged or
destroyed.
Daniel Eyre, Nigeria researcher for Amnesty
International, said as many as 2,000 civilians may have
been massacred, but Nigeria’s army objected to the
“sensational” claims and said that the death toll in
Baga was about 150.
Brutal raids, massacres, suicide bomb attacks and
kidnappings by Boko Haram have claimed at least
13,000 lives and driven an estimated 1.5 million people
from their homes, mainly in northeastern Nigeria.

Pa Muhammadu Buhari has also told the Independent
National Elecoral Commission that he has no academic
qualification to submit and that his academic
qualifications and credentials are with the military.
At INEC headquarters at Area 10, Abuja, Buhari’s
academic qualifications were not on display as required,
unlike those of other Presidential candidates, including
President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic
Party.
But in an affidavit, which he deposed to at a High Court
of the Federal Capital Territory, he explained that all his
certificates were with the Secretary, Military Board.

submitted to the commission that all his academic

In the affidavit, Buhari said: “All my academic

The Islamic terrorists have appealed to the Federal Government that they would like to exercise their franchise rights in the 2015 general elections. This plea was made in a private letter which was sent to INEC office at Abuja via mail.

The letter was to the effect that the members of Boko Haram would like to exercise their franchise rights to vote for the candidates of their choice, and it would amount to a breach of their constitutional rights if they are not permitted to vote.

It looked like a joke till a video was released this morning by the Islamic group wishing everyone a happy new year and also emphasizing ” we want to vote…and they most allow us vote”

They cited the example of prisoners who have recently been given the legal impetus to partake in election processes as the more reason why they should be allowed to vote.

According to them, there would be blood in the cities if they are refrained from voting.

They suggested to INEC that a polling center should be set up at the edge of the Sambisa forest to facilitate easy voting.

Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has retaliated back with words concerning what a former President Olusegun Obasanjo said about him in his latest book,’My Watch’.

It would be recalled that the former President had lambasted the Nobel Laureate in his new book, describing him as a self serving critic who always sought to shine out among men. Obasanjo also claimed that the Nobel Laureate is a “misfit as a political analyst, commentator or critic.” For Wole, no one can be good, nor can anything be spot – on politically except that which emanates from him or is ordained by him.”

Vanguard reports that Soyinka has replied, describing Obasanjo as a career liar who is always determined to crookedly project himself above his true standing among men. Soyinka also said the Obasanjo brand was compounded by the inclination of even foisting the lies on members of the younger generation.

It would also be recalled that Obasanjo further assessed Soyinka saying: “He is surely a better wine connoisseur and a more successful “aparo” (guinea fowl) hunter than a political critic, not to talk of what he would do as a politician,” adding “I take him seriously on almost all issues except on the political particularly Nigerian politics.”

Replying Wednesday in a treatise, titled Watch and Pray, Watch and Prey, Soyinka said:
