Politics › Re: Obasanjo Neglected Abeokuta–Abule Egba Road – Onanuga by ivolt: 8:47pm On Aug 24, 2024 |
santaclaws: Obasanjo was one of the most inefficient presidents this country ever produced. He couldn't even fix Lagos-Ibadan express road, neither did he fix Ota road, a federal road in his own state...
Yet baba's achievement is "bringing GSM to Nigeria" as if he owns the telcos that came to invest... Inefficient? As someone said above, even if APC goons has 100 years, they can't match OBJ's achievement. Before you hurriedly reply. Kindly check Nigeria's economic stats before 1999 and then after 2007. Yes, contrary to what most of you think, the primary job of the president is not to commission roads which in case of Nigeria expires between 4 to 8 years. More impressively, nothing happened to OBJ during his time, he made things happen. |

Economic performance and other numerous achievements of his government during a period Nigeria was under pressure of sanctions and oil prices as low as about $10 per barrel should tell you he was honest and patriotic. Kids everywhere. In case of next time, when you make a claim, adults expect you to back it up with evidence. |

uuzba: Indians is like 2nd hand white man. They still get paid dollars but not as high as Europeans. Then Nigerians are left to protest and complain online. Not even third-hand white man. Take an indian gateman. It is not about dollar but the specific amount. How much dollar do you think an Indian gatekeeper earns per month? He isn't any richer than an equivalent gateman in India. But why would a profit-driven business prefer him over a Nigerian? Because he is less likely to join a criminal clique of saboteurs/thieves as he has little to no indigenous links. And most of these so-called menial job "expatriates" are not living in luxury as many think. When the Dangote refinery was being constructed, most of them locked down inside the facility and forced to work day and night in very stressful conditions. You didn't hear about it because they are not Nigerians. If they were Nigerians headlines such as "Dangote keep youths as slaves" would have littered many front pages of newspaper. |
Career › Re: Indians Taking Over Jobs In Oil And Gas’, PENGASSAN Raises Alarm by ivolt: 3:06pm On Aug 24, 2024 |
Omoapena: We have many qualified engineers that studied abroad but you see African employers, they just want to show themselves and that's why they employe expatriates.
Can you imagine dangote refinery being head by an Indian and this same Indian is now recruiting only indians for the refinery all because he said he can't work with Nigerians... African employers who want to show themselves recruit Europeans and Americans not Indians. Any Nigerian employee you see employing Indians is primarily motivated for financial reasons. That is, it is cheaper on the long run to employ them. |

iLegendd: Officers, politicians and co. are still the people doing the smuggling. It's sad how corruption will never let us progress as a collective.
Oyibo people really destroyed Africa with freedom and democracy. In those days, when catching a thief was through voodoo, terrible things hardly happen.
We can still achieve greatness and less to zero corruption like Singapore with technology. Sadly, the Nigerian man operating those techies will still end up being compromised. You mentioned Singapore? Have you considered the ethnic composition of Singapore and the sacrifices that Singaporean made to excel. |

madridguy: Failure of our past and present leaders. Imagine a country as big as this with no good borders and effective custom officers. Good border is a myth. Good neighbours make good borders. Even the US struggle with Mexico border illegal activities despite billion dollar budget. As long as money is to be made, smugglers will flourish. |

nairalanda1: The kidnappers took good care of him
Thing is, kidnappers do not want their victims to die. If they died on them, that's a loss of money for them.
Like the emir who died in captitivity in Sokoto...sure they freed his son for N60 Million. It would hav ebeen more if papa was alive...like over N100 million. Generally, forest-kept kidnap victims don't look like that after a long period of time. Sure, the kidnappers want them alive but not in luxury as that would come with higher risks due to logistics of getting the food. Impure water, poverty-level food is not ideal for the body. I will credit his good genes if captivity didn't really change him both physically and medically. |

Throwback: Nigeria is not rich enough to waste funds like that.
Una don tar road finish or generate enough electricity?
If dem like make dem press wetin pass charges, the commonwealth would not be wasted on frivolous claims of greedy citizens like it is done abroad. Even in the so-called abroad, mostly US, you would have to prove negligence on the part of the driver and the complainant must also show that the accident negatively impacted their livelihood such as loss of job or body function. As for Europe, the chance of getting a dime specifically for a public utility accident is close to zero in most cases. |

The zone that produce the most lawyers according to recent stats and you think that's normal? The current number of lawyers is irrelevant. Since CJN is based on seniority in the supreme court. The question you should ask yourself is how many Igbos have been skipped from becoming the CJN when they happen to be the most senior on the bench. That would help you see the true states of things. |
