jenju:Panic is not an alarm system. When you lock your car, you arm your vehicle. They are both theft deterrent systems but one supercedes the other. |
It's been known for more than 50 years that you don't buy a Jaguar for reliability. Jaguars are unpredictable and you are better off with having one along with other vehicles. If you decide to own one, be sure to convert the mechanical tensioner to hydraulic. That will be one-problem-too-many that will be taken care of. You cannot profile a Jag in terms of reliability. |
Not to be disrespectful - who is "cruise-controlling" in Lagos or wherever? The roads are not long and wide enough plus other drivers on the road wouldn't even make it a necessity. |
@Sultaan Is it possible to use an aftermarket security system OEM remote? I have a switchblade and but don't want to render it useless. Way back, you could clone remotes now but now, I was educated on code hopping. I was enlightened on Hornet but the tech seemed unsure of the questions I fed back. |
Why wouldn't you sell it in the States? It's a lot less of a hassle than having it shipped and cleared. You get the money right away than waiting 12 to 16 weeks. I don't get the logic. |
What Iyes advocated is a common law situation called domestic partnership in Britain. It's akin to saying a prostitute is an employed wage earner just because she makes money in her services. Ashewo no be job,na management
Prostitution! That was funny, but never thought of it that way. Some people don't second an idea or a principle for once in their lives. |
@Midolo Wikipedia is never a source for information because it's a collection of people's opinions and could be changed or edited. Get a source - buy an encyclopedia. Use Britianica! Then your source will considered. @Iceland Marriage in Islam is still marriage. Marriage by common union is a joke. @Iyes You need a priest or someone that stands in spiritual authority to perform the rite. Personally, I don't believe in all the services they throw in a wedding. Marriages in actuality is less than 5 minutes. You only affirm your role wrt whom you choose and a binding prayer is confirmed. Where you have to throw a party and be $40,000 in debt is sheer stupidity to me. I seriously don't see the logic there - everyone celebrates with you and they don't put a cent to the amount for the ceremony. |
Marriage is a covenant that binds. Covenant initiated through words spoken and then later consumated. Being engaged is a form of marriage that cannot be consumated till the appropriate covenant has been initiated. Common law marriage is a practical joke. What common law marriage details is a man and woman living together and approved by law to share a common interest. In my understanding, it's a burden because you form a yoke within both parties. The law benefits from this monetarily. There is no perpetual devotion to each other. In Texas, a man and woman/boy or girl that lives together for a period of 180 days are considered husband and wife by common law (Nigerians use this to its max). It isn't marriage. Marriages that aren't done in the church also are considered marriages too as far as God is concerned. |
I thought autocad was phased out. People use Civil now. I use CATIA alongside with Abaqus for my automotive and aerospace design and analysis. It's all you need. I never really got the chance with Unigraphics because the environment just never got my taste but I will since it's SAE's standard. honeydrops:Piping and plant design could be learnt off forums (if you have are somewhat inclined). If you have no clue about it, I suggest you buy a book or download a book. Your best bet for piping or plant design will be Inventor. If you have access to PDMS, go for it. |
Nothing is better than a Mercedes. Put some coilovers and drop it by an inch and a quarter with special a-bars. You can't make the best any better than that. I love Jaguar but it's unreliabity is why I won't consider it. It's also run by Ford. |
Aeronautics is NOT an easy field to dabble with. 15ft with his funding and capital is a huge progress and not a tale. If you understand an iota of aerospace and aeronautics, you'd applaude him. |
PLAIN IGNORANCE! You are simply cystalising carbon and reinforcing in your fuel lines. Nothing can give you performance if the vehicle wasn't engineered for performance. If you are guaranteed 7 to 14% gasoline economy, then some engineers wouldn't go through the trouble of imbibing the active cylinder management that regains the 15% it claims on some of the gas guzzling lineups. As long as you are using as an engine is mechanically camshaft driven, it WILL burn gas. "Dethrottling" is currently in prototype whereby 30% economy with 18% gain in power. thegame:In simplification, "impurities"! |
Lolololol O my goodness. People are so gullible. |
cerruti:Lexus E320! |
Yes Most new cars today are x-by-wire. Remove and swap |
geebees:I'm really sorry to hear that. Non-repairable, in some states, not safe to be driven on U.S. roads. Cost to restore to manuf. standard exceed the vehicle's value and sometimes manufacturing cost. The car's structure and maybe frame is weak. You are going to have ask the rest of the forum. |
![]() I did reply you at the former post. Please, delete this thread. Some people are going to be bellegerant about this (and you already have an idea to who these people are). I think the VIN you gave me is wrong. Check where you initially posted it and your feedback is there. |
geebees:Gees 4T1GB22K3XU394056 is an invalid VIN, however I came up with 4T1BG22K3XU394056. It's a Toyota Camry '98 for 1999. Bought by corporate lease and paid off and sold on the 13th of November. A new owner within a month and wrecks it on two different occassions. The 7th of March 2007 by DMV, moderate accident with another vehicle (rear). The vehicle was bought on the 3rd of April and on the 18th, had a total loss. It was marked total loss and the state of Georgia declared it a salvaged vehicle and green in colour. The 9th of July, 2007, the vehicle was exported to Ghana and I guess it is where you see it. It may not be your VIN, check your VIN and let me what's up. If you bought this, you are in Lagos. Fight it! |
Don1DeMaco: fikaman:I know what it means buying a lemon. You cannot sell it and equivalanet to putting your money in the furnace. 4 years ago, I bought a car that happened to be a lemon and salvaged. The person that sold it to me gave theimpression that he was leaving and he sold that car to me above market price because it was loaded. I started having problems the third day. Worse, I couldn't register the vehicle. The department told me it was a salvaged vehicle and was not lawful to ply on Louisiana roads. It was on its second rebuilt title. It wasn't right to sell it so I had it crushed and bought a certified Camry. When it comes to money, some people go "some" length. |
bdorg: You are welcome. |
tollyfat:Garaged at approx. 90,000 miles and the next thing is it's registered at 131,000 miles. 40,000 unaccounted miles. In Texas, except it in your own property, you cannot have a car sitting unregistered. By law, you have 30 days to have it registered or it's considered abandoned. There are 4 states that don't abide by this. You don't park a car for 3 years. To access the onboard system and rolling back the odometer is an intentional motive. Bypassing prompts and security check is conscious move. Rolling it back a 100,000 isn't for the customer's benefit and that is illegal. If the vehicle runs fine, that good but be prepared for a 140,000 mile service. |
bdorg:Certainly, 2000 Toyota Camry CE/LE/XLE, 16V 4 door FWD. Purchased in 2000 as a corporate lease in North Carolina. Moderately driven and finally paid off in 2004. Vehicle was traded on the 26 of Feb 2007 and currently sits on the dealers lot. It was registered in Dec of 07 with 99,822 miles on it. Vehicle has a clean record and vehicle was dealer maintained. |
arsenal4va:You are welcome. |
1.6L L4 PFI SOHC 16V / FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. It's been one owner and it's currently offered for sale at SPORTHONDA Spring, MD. Vehicle was owned for 9 years and a month and traded at 151,864 miles. Owner maintenained outside dealer's service. Car's record is clean and no total loss nor structural damage was recorded. |
@Arsenal The vehicle with VIN 5N1ED28Y3YC531294 is a Nissan Xterra. 3.3L V6 full time 4WD and manufactured on the 17th of Sept, 1999. Sold on the 30th of Oct, 99 on a 7 year lease/payment plan (Woodbury Nissan NJ). Truck was overdriven (excessively for its drive train) each year until the 31th of Dec 2004 where no records were known at 90763 miles. Maintenance on this vehicle was simply lube and brake job. Vehicle was never sold by the initial owner. Vehicle history resurfaces (New Jersey, Motor Vehicle Dept, Marlton, NJ) on the 24th of May 2007 with a new owner at 130,400 miles. Vehicle was sold at an auction at 130,522 miles and was then registered as a dealer vehicle. I won't go to further in detail but avoid this vehicle. There is a three year unaccounted period to this vehicle. It was never sold nor traded in by the original owner. I guess somebody might have an explanation to this but not me. Respectfully. |
Mitsubishi Diamante LX was my first car. I didn't use it for up to 100 days. It's enticing, luxurious but not worth the hassle. If you have money to spend on a this car, then go for it. I spent so much money and seemed the car had an agenda to empty my wallet. Then it started smoking and needed all it's piston re-ringed. I will tell you to put your money somewhere else. Besides, you have no business with the diamante in Lagos since it runs on 93 Octane and doesn't flex. You'd knock the engine in no time. Mirage and Lancer seem to hold up with extreme minimal maintenance. |
MP007 The spirit of sodom is the spirit that mocks the truth when the truth is said. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying. Whether man is a hearing spirit is where the variable is. If they don't acknowledge it now it doesn't change the fact that it is true. Shalom. |
hbrednic:You must not know the meaning of over-engineering. The car is designed for 50 years, 1 million miles. That Mercedes was designed in partnership with Porsche. It's the last pinacle in automobile and motorsport history before the E12. ikorodu:Low coolant will force the vehicle to limp mode. Extremely low will cause the ECU to stall and shut down the vehicle to prevent engine damage sultaan:doesn't have a radiator cap. It's a white cell intercooler with a reservoir that isn't dependent on the cap. MB coolant shouldn't be mixed. The head gasket is the achilles heels on that model. Butter or milky solution coolant depicts oil is being mixed. Peace, y'all. |
@Poster First of all, you have a dynamic beast! I'm currently looking for an E500 and you're lucky. I'm currently looking for one. 1100 were made worldwide. It may not be overheating. The fan doesn't come on till it reads 100degC. It will flunctuate from 80 to 100. The ideal temperature is 90degC. 0W-40 is the oil weight and synthetic. M103's and M104's are known for a bad head gaskets after 100,000 miles, no matter how you take care of it. The reason is that MB phased over to biodegradable components and the heat in the engine bay wouldn't let it stand the test of time. You are going to be loosing compression as well. In addition to it, you should always use the MB coolant. The green coolant cannot convent the heat and you'd also be running hot. There is no substitute except you use Zerex by Valvoline. All E series/E Classes from 86 to 97 (300 and up) have a head gasket issue. '93 should be 500E and M103 in engine code. You can hit two birds with a stone and have no timing chain replaced. No additional labour. |
Sultaan Quite right! Lolol - Ship a vehicle to Lagos and buyer pays for all shipping, handling and port tariffs. This sounds like eating your cake and still tossing it. |
@Prince Do not forget you are on nairaland. Nairalanders want the best without paying its worth. The vehicle wasn't painted. A paint job in the US. is about 2500 to 3000 dollars. You wouldn't on a car more than a decade. years of age. From the body, there isn't visible signs of strain or warpage meaning during its time, it wasn't involved in excessive freeway driving or high frequent high speed rolling (drag force per dynamic pressure and area). Keep in mind that when you are set to do the right thing with no deception, people will criticise you. The right person will appreciate and purchase this vehicle. Remember the Jag that people thought you stole or was wet because you had it was up for a ridiculous low price. You can't satisfy everyone. Some people are clueless to what mileage actually is. |
I love Street fighter. The game play is what matters. I really haven't been into games of recent but will be in a few months. SF2 brings back the '90s. I am so not impressed with EX2Plus Alpha (Arika). I believe that was in response to Tekken II. |
