Backslider:There is a scripture for those type of people - every tree my Father has not planted will be rooted out. Those people indeed will be rooted out as scripture dictates. True, decadence'll occur but not from the church. |
You are appeciated. I always had it in mind that women had no authority over men lest Jezebel creeps in. Another issue I have has to do with women and hair covering in the church. I know God is going to answer me someday. There is a spirit in the air that needs to be arrested before the Lord Jesus returns. Only if we Christians would take our positions in Christ and start tearing strongholds down, possesing the land and return the victory to the true church. The church is sleeping. God will help us all. |
@Bac I am aware of the rhema and the Jehu-turnover that will befall the earth. You waste power when you argue with people that don't take your word the first time. The ministry of intercession is what the earth needs. There are trees that needs to be uprooted. Many people are straight-up deceiving themselves. |
The thread just proved to you that you are at the wrong place ![]() |
sanrima:I agree with you, there is more to nigerian girls than self centeredness and issues. Keep in mind that birds of a feather will definitely flock together. I will only deem respect because that is what is due and appropriate for this post but doesn't change my opinions which has and is best reserved to me. |
@Ricade Leave him alone and pray for him. You cannot change a man's mind. Only God can. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. I don't know what he has said in the past and not ready to care either. I do believe that he is very much inline with God's word. You don't strife with people. From the little I have read on his posts, God is actually stricter than all he has said (though he erred on one of his lines). Jesus warned that except your righteousness surpasses that of the pharises, you won't enter the kingdom of God. The pharisees were righteous, godly and exhibited a high level of holiness - besides their hypocricy. Your goal is to be spotless or have a spotless garment when Christ returns. Show a little compassion and in your right, place your issue against the poster to the throne of grace. That way, it's no longer your problem. You did not die on the cross, Jesus did and it doesn't profit the kingdom of God if it fights each other. ![]() |
@Labi You are welcome, Man. Have a great evening. |
Well, you are dead wrong. The simple directive that I gave you (if you wanted to know what I meant) was to go through your bible from the first page to the last excluding the concordance. I made no statement that you assumed. I am not assuming anything nor making conclusions. Until you've done that, don't come to any conclusion. |
@Labiyemmy You have a bible, don't you. Go through the contents from the first to the very last page and filter what is right and what's wrong. The thirst of your curiosity would be quenched. Peace |
@rica Sincerely, all God wants from your own side is to pray for him in your own innocence. In your own understanding of what you deem as right and wrong. That way, God lifts you up. My ministry is prayer. Whenever people grieve or offend me and I do nothing, the consequences are usually not funny. God deals with them thoroughly. It's the same to those that dig a pit for me. It's the same for any true child of God (I'm not saying you aren't). 90% of what he is saying is right and for the sake of peace and building-up, I won't emphasize on them. You cannot change a man. Everything I know about the christian walk was revealed to me by God through consecration and sanctification. Many Christians are not consecrated, thus being of little use to God. You dare not do anything to a consecrated Christian. God himself will see to it that he deal with you while he gives you time to repent. I'm not being fanatic. My very first job, I never knew people could spot a Christian without asking. I was asked to pray for a missing person, the person was found two days after. Also, I was always made fun off at work and a person also harrassed me persistently. I took the matter to God and the following day, the person never returned. She left all her stuff but never returned. The rest of my colleagues were put on final and would be fired if my boss ever heard a whisper against me. That's God's glory for you. (Just one out of many). Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord! All he has to do is nothing and God takes over. The same principle should be in operation in your life if you are true child of God. You should never strife. You don't know him, but he is on your side (if you are a Christian). He might be a baby Christian or may be someone seriously seeking more of the Father. Just pray for him. He doesn't need any more persecution than what the world offers to him. No one is perfect, the fall of Adam was a gradual process, same with the birth of Christ. Psalm 9 .17: The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. The fact that everyone does the same thing doesn't mean it's right. Nations that forget God will be cast to hell. If an entire continent is caught within a fad, God will put that nation in hell. Deut made it clear that you should not follow the multitude to do evil. I just had to stress on this. We have been commanded to work out our salvation with trembling and fear. Thanks for the meaning of his name. Someone on another thread made it seem his name was symbolic to something derogatory. Grace |
Be careful Ricade, you don't know this person. 90% of what he has said is true. I don't know him either. The only thing God will want form you is to pray for him. Even in his err. If God has opened his eyes to some of what he is saying, you don't have the right to shut it. God is not a decision for anyone to play with. We have different people in the body of Christ. You don't know his purpose on earth. By principle of spiritual authority, be very careful. If he had no love, he wouldn'thave shared what he understands. The meaning to his screen name is what I am yet to found out. |
Truth will always remain the truth. That's all I am boiling at. I'm not trying to convince you. I am not also trying to say that you should believe everything a person says. If you are inclined to the truth and hate deception, you'll always recognise it when you come across it. Otherwise, one isn't a wise person. |
I was partly brought up in Nigeria so you cannot identify me as a Nigerian till I tell you that I am one. I am so not rude. The same traits that I mentioned is the common factor with all the nigerians that I have met (and still will meet). The girls are sarcastic - can barely make 10 sentences without a comment of sarcasm. It's impossible to relate to them on a normal plane. I won't go any further because it's just built up. I have 20 years worth of disgust as far as girls are concerned. I have no beef with Nigeria or nigerians. That is my root and I am proud not to be labelled as a black with no roots. I have only 6 nigerian friends that treat me like a brother. |
Look up specimen. And not just nairaland but nigerians here in the States. Rude! Rude and not well mannered. Where did they come from? Your conclusion is yours and mine is mine. It'll be that way. |
The deep and secret things belong to God. I will seek the Lord on this case. He will reveal it to me. At this point, it's just in suspense till the Spirit of God teaches me the right way or path. As for women, they have their own callings. They have to stick within the boundaruies ordained for them. |
I leave the issue to God till I get a clear revelation. |
@labiyemmi What is the meaning of Okababa? |
Reading a bible verse in isolation and quoting it in isolation throws away the intent of the original writer. Its an admonition that women should not teach or boss a man - but not necessarily saying a woman should not teach or spread the gospel un church or to men in general. If verse 12 is so literarily interpreted, then verse 9 should be as well, which means, nobody will put on gold or costly clothes to church, but then this is relative, what is costly to you may not be costly to somebody else.
What was your point of view? A woman cannot boss a man. You just contradicted yourself. |
Pastor Kumoyi is not the only true pastor in Africa, though I listen and read his sermons. They are extremely rich. The other criterias are true, paint your lips, cross dress and participate in all other forms of perversion will cost you indeed. Christianity is not a bed of gold. People want to eat their cake and have it. Jesus said if you were to be with him, take up your cross and follow him. That is also part of the cross you'll have to bear with. Santification is a "painful" yet slow process but in it, you have power the world doesn't. Why must there be insults. And you call yourselves heaven-bound Christians. God will help all of us. |
Purist:I used nairaland as suppose to a specimen of the entire region. |
There is a limit to which women can preach. Going beyond that limit is nothing short of the spirit of Jezebel at work. |
@Ibisobrown Blood covenants in the life of a spiritual man is the hardest yoke to break. There are two types; one with terms associated to it and the other with no terms. Irregardless, they are still pact. If you have sex with anyone, you have entered into a blood covenant (no matter how you deem it). The covenant you entered cutting your finger is a blood covenant of initiation. You have initiated yourself. When you get born-again (of which you should), problems will begin to arise because the old nature will conflict with the new nature and man that has been regenerated. You are to actively confess that sin and begin renouncing and breaking those fetters you have placed around your life. Being born again does not remove it, it only the beginning. Abram was God's best friend and years, he was childless. Jesus had no sin yet he was tempted. The problems and issues of life has no respect for anyone. You'll have to go into serious prayer and fasting (it may take a span of time but take courage) and use the scriptures as your sword to break all the yokes associated. The bible also describes this as handwritings that needs to be blotted out. Look for an intercessor and speak honestly to him. A few sentences would be translated to a sermon in his spirit man. He'll be able to assist you from there. Whatever he tells you becomes authority over you because you become surbodinate to him. Lastly, if your church doesn't preach on holiness, deliverance, santification and prayer, leave that church. The objectives of the gospel is not being fulfilled there. You'll only have yourself to blame. Shalom. |
chaloo:You don't have to believe it. You are no different from the person that doesn't believe he'll sink in water when he walks on it. Or the man that doesn't believe in gravity and walks off the roof of a sky scraper. The truth respects nobody but violate it and it'll prove itself superior to you - of which you must obey. Nigerian women are not like women of other parts of the world. For the sake of peace, I'll reserve further comments. For the sake of those that use generalisation as a shield or offense, it's what a nation is described by. Easybaby:I do mean it. It is so-o-o true. |
Gamine: 9ja4eva:This is a situation where fact(s) differ from reality. Nigerians make up nairaland, go through nairaland and conclude on your observation. There is hardly a thread without insults. Lets not deceive ourselves. |
@Ricade That's ok. It's all good. That epistle wasn't for the pastor but an extreme example of emulation. If you arent caucasian, then you are no one should not be in our minds - no matter what. The straightening and pattern of that hair is the same type as Benny Hinn. Pastr O just has his a lot shorter. |
@ricade I believe you have been following the topic. Emulation's what I was stressing! It wasn't just for you alone so, don't single yourself out and finalise it. It will be the same gospel that will speak against you someday if you don't seat and accept what the word has to say. I don't have anything against you so don't come lashing. Read and then try to apply before expressing yourself rudely. I leave you to God to judge. |
Another extreme example Special Beauty Report: Erasing Ethnicity Extreme Makeovers: What Some Women Will Do for Beauty From eyelid surgery to leg-lengthening and calf-narrowing, it seems there is little some women won't do to achieve that iconic look. Extreme Makeover: Part 1: Double-eyelid surgery (aka Asian blepharoplasty) WHY IT'S DONE: About 50 percent of Pacific Asians do not have an upper-eyelid crease. For those who do, the crease falls about 7 mm above the lashline, whereas for Caucasians, the crease falls about 11 mm above it. HOW IT WORKS: During the most popular version of this outpatient procedure, a crescent-shaped incision is made along the new crease line, and a small amount of skin, tissue, and fat on the upper eyelid is cut away. When the two sides are sutured back together, the incision is hidden under the newly created crease. PROCEDURE LENGTH: Approximately one hour RECOVERY TIME: Sutures are removed after about a week. Bruising and swelling usually subside after a month. COST: $2500 to $5000 ORIGIN: 19th-century Japan. The popularity of the procedure jumps whenever there was a significant Western presence in Asia — for example, during the Korean War. HOW COMMON: Almost 300,000 Asians in the US. had the surgery in 2006. Extreme Makeover: Part 2: Calf reduction WHY IT'S DONE: In general, Asian women have shorter legs and thicker calves than Caucasian women. These features are thought to be unsightly in their culture (some refer to them as "radish legs" . HOW IT WORKS: Two small incisions are made at the top of the calf in the back of the leg, where an endoscope is inserted and the muscle is separated from the membrane. The protruding muscle is cut away, shrinking the circumference of the calf. Patients usually recover in six months. POTENTIAL SHRINKAGE: 1 to 3 inches COST: About $2800 MOST POPULAR IN: South Korea, but gaining popularity all over Asia; it has yet to make its way to the US. RISKS: Excessive bleeding, shapeless legs. Extreme Makeover: Part 3: Leg lengthening WHY IT'S DONE: The Chinese are so height-conscious, jobs and even schools often post height requirements. To apply for the foreign ministry, women must be 5'3" (the national average), whereas flight attendants must be at least 5'5". As a result, being tall — or short — can have a direct impact on one's livelihood. HOW IT WORKS: Calf and shin bones are broken and pierced with steel pins, which are fixed to an external frame with screws. Then stretching — by means of turning those screws and lengthening the bone at the point where it was broken — is carried out over the next several months. The steel pins are left in for another year as support for the newly regenerated bone RANGE OF GROWTH: 1 to 5 inches COST: $15,000 to $25,000 RISKS: Horror stories include misshapen legs, feet that splay outward, and bones that never heal properly and break easily. In November 2006, China restricted the procedure to select hospitals that offer postsurgery care and rehabilitation. MOST POPULAR COSMETIC SURGERIES BY ETHNICITY In the past five years, the number of plastic surgeries performed on minorities jumped 65 percent — compared with an increase of 38 percent for the overall population. Why the spike in minority candidates? Higher incomes and access to a wider range of ethnic-specific techniques. A GLOBAL LOVE AFFAIR WITH THE KNIFE In an attempt to preserve traditional Eastern looks, plastic surgery was banned in China until 2001. Now, it's a $2.4-billion-a-year business. Add Japan, which spends $18.4 million on plastic surgery annually, and India, where cosmetic surgery has experienced a 15 percent growth in the past three years, and Asia is now the world's second-largest plastic-surgery hub. The US. is still in the lead, with its whopping $8.4 billion industry. THE QUEST FOR A SKI-JUMP NOSE Unlike the rhinoplasties performed on Caucasians (often to straighten a bridge or remove a bump), nose reshaping for minorities generally leads to narrower nostrils, a higher bridge, and a pointier tip — shapes typical of white noses. TOP COUNTRIES FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION Spain, Italy, UK., Sweden, Finland, India, Norway, Slovenia. In the US., the procedure ranks #1 for Hispanics and #2 for Asian-Americans among minorities. Are Blue Eyes Better? Don't it turn their brown eyes blue? Would Aishwarya Rai, the stunning former Miss World and Bollywood darling, be as popular if her eyes weren't a glowing green-blue? Would she have snagged a L'Oréal cosmetics contract or crossed over to Hollywood? Since color contacts by FreshLook became available in 1984, women of color — including Naomi Campbell, Lil' Kim, and Ziyi Zhang — have been eager to experiment. "Our largest market is with dark-eyed and dark-complected women," says Jeff Cohen, vice president of global marketing for CIBA Vision (makers of FreshLook), citing African-American, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern women as the top customers in the US. "Color contacts are huge with Middle Eastern women because their clothing often covers everything except their eyes. It's one of the only ways they have to express their originality." With this uniquely exotic notion of lighter eyes coming into vogue, colored-lens users climbed to 2.7 million in the US. alone last year. Skin: The New Status Symbol Has the West's fixation with tanning finally challenged the East's centuries-old belief that pale skin is synonymous with high social standing? In June 2007, the first-ever tanning salon opened in Beijing. Called DB Salon, it serves legions of women under 30 with a strangely specific goal: to have the caramel coloring of American pop princess Christina Aguilera. In India, Bollywood stars are going for the burnt-sienna hue one sees in Malibu, achievable only via a bottle. And in Japan, bronzing goods account for $140 million in sales. Natural Hair Color and Texture — Why Don't We Want It? BLONDE AMBITION While only about 2 percent of the world population is born blonde, the rest are still going for gold: 34% of the hair dye sold in the US. last year was blonde. 80% of Koreans in their 20s lighten their hair. MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE: THE LABOR, COST, AND STRESS OF RELAXING BLACK HAIR HOW IT'S DONE: A petroleum base is applied to the scalp, then a relaxer with sodium hydroxide (basically, lye) is put on the hair. It stays on for 25 to 30 minutes and is then washed two or three times with a neutralizing shampoo. Finally, a deep conditioner is applied and rinsed, and hair is styled. TIME: 2 to 3 hours COST: About $225 for virgin hair; $110 for touch-ups MAINTENANCE: A touch-up is needed every 8 to 10 weeks. Because of damage caused by the chemicals, hair can only be washed once or twice a week. RISKS: A too-strong relaxer causes excessive breakage and scalp burns. The Japanese Secret for Winning Miss Universe Hint: look less Japanese When Ines Ligron was hired by Donald Trump 10 years ago to pull Japan out of its Miss Universe slump (the country hadn't spawned a winner in 48 years), she jumped at the chance. A former IMG modeling-agency promoter, French-born Ligron trained the Japanese contestants to adopt typically Western practices like sitting up straight, making eye contact, and tanning. Part of her program is even spent emulating the body language and pronunciation of characters from shows like Sex and the City. "Japanese culture places an emphasis on blending in and thinking like a group," says Ligron. "I teach them to stand out, be different, and show their personality." This year, the well-trained 20-year-old Riyo Mori snagged the title. But instead of praise, the media focused on her failure to represent Japanese culture, which advocates being cute, pale, and submissive. Ligron, however, doesn't care: "My market is young, cool, hip, fashionable people. You cannot please everyone." She adds, "I have a lot of women supporters — my enemies are men. They are afraid of powerful women." 2007 Miss Universe Riyo Mori is a statuesque 5'9" and speaks fluent English. Mixed Race: America's Fastest Growing Population Mixed-race kids (under 18) make up the fastest-growing segment of the population. In 2000, when the government first allowed people to identify themselves as more than one race on the US. Census, the results revealed that there were nearly 7 million multiracial people living in the country. ricadelide:God isn't saying that. Trying to be white isn't right. Being what you aren't is where the picture is. Christians use perfumes - nothing wrong with that. Remember the oil of alabaster?! That isn't the point. Going to change your gender is what is an example (though extreme). You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Why straighten your hair with hot combs and jherry curls? It's because you aren't happy with yourself. Being worldly! |
@ kulashaker Those pastors you mentioned are not conventional pastors. They aren't even Christians themselves. A man that practices necromancy is not a Christian. Many of those pastors are paid by the government to keep their mouth shut. "Faith funds" |
@ to those concerned: It is wrong to wear stick on your lips, perm your hair and look as God did not create you. Perming of hair started during segregation in the United States and some mullatos passed for white. Later, it was a means of being accepted. Today, a woman cannot have her natural hair to work without being written up or spoken about as untidy. I wonder when it became a sin to be african decent. Emulations is a serious sin. All those attachments or extension; being what you are not. Those of you with Discerning of spirits should be able to discern that all isn't right. A church also where the pastor is glorified than God himself should be a church to flee from. |
Who is this pastor? If I can recollect, he was a follower of a leader that performs healing by hypnotising through eye contact. @Backslider Matt 10 .14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. The Spirit of God does not tolerate arguments. There are simply blinded hearts amongst those asking innocent questions. You cannot change nor convert people. Leave them to God. Some people are just inclined to heresy. Leave them alone. There will always be a time of accountability. There will also be a time when they will give an account. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying. The question is "Is man a hearing spirit?" |
You can't get such a person unless you have travailed in intercession. Remember the principle "Interferences of the forces of life." Depending on who you are, you'd not have made this post (if you knew your right from left). n.b. you won't view my reply as an insult if you are godly-minded. You should've been able to translate an epistle from the sentences made. Grace. |
