PoliticsRe: Disrespecting The Office Of The President Is Not Good Enough by iwanchop(m): 10:12am On Jun 19, 2013
The office of any governor is as important as that of the president, what you claim APC is doing to the president is the same as what PDP does to governors in states where they are not at the helms of affair.
I think you need to advise PDP too,to tell the people what they would benefit by voting for them and stop the campaign of calumny against the likes of Fashola,Al Makura,Rochas ,Aregbe etc in their respective states.
What is good for Jonathan is also good for all non-PDP governors

Sincere 9gerian: It is now clear that the few noisy Tinubu's dogs on this forum are ON THEIR OWN.

At the moment, Fashola cannot conduct local council poll because of the FEAR of defeat. He has smuggled an immoral local council tenure elongation bill to the State House of Assembly. Same with Aregbesola
And what magic has PDP performed to make Fashola and Aregbesola be afraid of conducting elections?
You are only confident cos of the arrival of ur new rigging machines abi

Worwor: But why is buhari so heartless? angry
Rather than blame Buhari why not blame ur confused president, only a foolish person will take the following steps in that order

Step 1 :Set up committee to discuss amnesty with Boko Haram

Step 2: Declare states of emergency on states where Boko haram activities are imminent

Step 3: Proscribe/ban Boko Haram

I ask if the JTF are out there hunting Boko Haram members, who are those the committee Jonathan set up discussing with?
How many Boko Haram members would be ready to come out and discuss with the committee knowing full well that they are being hunted for?
What sort of a person would set up a committee to discuss amnesty on April 17th only to come out on May 14th to declare 'war' on those the committee is supposed to be discussing with ? He didn't stop at that,he came out on June 4th to proscribe the group? Has the committee not been rendered useless? Why set up the committee in th he first place?
Why I do not have any problem with declaring war on Boko haram and proscribing them,I believe the committee should have been allowed.to finish its job. If the feasibility of giving amnesty is out of it,you can then declare war on the groups.

Now the committee is out there 'working ' .wasting taxpayers money on a fruitless mission all because someone up there is confused.

DaLover: Stop first! You should indeed be thankfull that the oil producing states peacefully allowed the rest of nigeria to exploit resources and share it based on population for all those years, just imagine if the oil was located in SW or NW, forget it!
This country would have split long ago
Are u sure the country would have split?
What makes you say so? That SS/SE people are good and their counterpart from SW/NW are bad? Hmmm
Anyway let's not derail the topiv

I think we should rather be thankful to God and not any state or community. The oil producing states/communities did nothing to put the oil in there.
That oil is the mainstay of the Nigerian economy is not because the oil producing states want it so,it is because of what the constitution says.says.If the constitution had given the sole ownership of crude oil to oil producing communities and they in turn ,out of goodwill give same to all other states, then I would have said they deserve all commendation. The only reason I empathise with those communities is the fact that our government has not done much for them,so many of them have ni means of livelihood because oil has done harm to their lands and waters.

Nigeria should be richer than how we are now if previous and present governments properly utilise the numerous mineral resources we are blessed with, the over dependence on crude oil is doing more harm to us than good.

Prior to 1957 when oil was first discovered in Oloibiri,Nigeria could not be said to be a poor nation,we were doing very well from proceeds gotten from agriculture.

Rather than attend a debate where programmes would be discussed our president was laughing with D'banj in koko mansion.

2010a: According to JAMB statistics, for the past 15 - 20yrs, Anambra state has the largest number of people who gain admission(wt JAMB admission letters) into tertiary institutions followed by Imo state though Imo state has the highest number of JAMB applicants followed by Anambra State.

Note that on JAMB form, they ask for state of origin and not state of residence.

When I looked at the statistics, I was very disappointed when I saw the position of Oyo state and Lagos state.

All the Igbo states except one were in the first ten
Congratulations

Akpan107: you may not know where my Dad came from... But one thing i want you to understand is that; the interest of the people of Lagos must be fully protected... Althuogh, the Muslim government in Lagos have always been kind to the Christians, but it must not always be Muslim, Muslim and Muslim. ( no offence my dear brother, we're still ONE )

That muslims have been ruling Lagos is just coincidental,it's not because xtians are not permitted to .The same case is what we have in Ekiti where xtians have always been the governor.
My point is religion should not be a yardstick for political offices:in 1993,the SDP fielded two muslims for the presidential elections and we all supported them, can the same happen in the Nigeria of today? No
Religion has clouded our faces and conscience.
I would not be suprised if this religious acrimony degenerate into denominational feud in future. Then it would be Redeemers have been ruling Lagos when will a catholic become the governor.Religion cannot lead us anywhere than to cause unnecesary acrimony between us.If I may ask, which one should we care about, good governance or religion. If it is religion, then the traditionslist should also be given an opportunity to rule, enough of muslims and xtians.

goodtalk: even t'he inddgenious christians still eclipse t'he moslem in numbers, look back into history as at when t'he christian missionaries came to t'he west, bult cms grammer school, churches and commenced massive evangelism of t'he people, islam as a religion was not yet in the west as at then. Make una bone, the population of christian both indigens or non indigence over blast t'he moslem population in lagos so therefore, 2015 elction acn must field a christian candidate to balance tins out or they may be gradually putting lagos over a keg of gun powder. a
It's just unfortunate that most if u make comments from the corners of your rooms.
Have you ever been to Lagos?
If yes,how many years have you spent or did you spend in Lagos?
Because if you are conversant with Lagos, you would know that most indigenous Lagosians are Muslims. If you don't know you ask .I'm an Awori man so I know what i'm saying

So there are no indigenous Akwa Ibomites that are muslims Abi?
Go and do your research very well, that's by the way.
Mr Akpan(the errand boy) please I really want to know who you are to have written this ' Lagos 2015: it must

And what would that translate to?Good governance?
What has being a Christian or a Muslim got to do with providing basic amenities for the masses ?
Mr Cleric sir, it's not about religion cos we've had bad leaders from both religion Abacha,Tafa Balogun,Faruk Lawan etc are all muslims and we know what they did,the same goes for Ibori,Bode George, John Yusuf etc, ain't they Christians.
If I may ask,has Fashola as a governor deprived Christians of anything in the state? So what is this man asking for?
I would not havr been suprised if this statement had come from a politician.
Let peace continue to reign in Lagos o,we do not want any rancour between xtians and muslims o

A director of the Lagos Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Venerable Folarin Shobo, has called for a Christian governor, in the coming Lagos state elections.

Folarin, a cleric and Director of Civic and Political Affairs of the Diocese of Lagos Mainland said:

“It is not fair to have a government that is largely tilted to people of a particular religion. Christians over the years have been magnanimous enough. We have worked for people who are not of our faith and we have supported them to be in government. It is now time for us to come out and take the bull by the horns.”

The cleric who held that Lagos state governor Raji Fashola had done well in improving on infrastructures of the state also maintained that it was time for power to shift in the state.

“It is time for us to have people who will continue to rule with the fear of God and respect for the rule of law.” Folarin said

He enjoined all Christians in the state to show interest in partisan politics, stressing on the need to change the political status quo in the state.

Shobo further stated that politics and religion go hand in hand and called on church leaders to begin to sensitize their members to take up the challenge and vie for political positions in the state.

The cleric also lamented that it was unfortunate none of the five people being tipped to succeed Governor Babatunde Fashola was a Christian
