In addition. If you are buying from the US (majority of sellers are based in the states), you may be required to pay import duties. This could make the cost of your item significantly higher.

There are lots of scammers on ebay so you have to watch out, so before making a purchase, ensure that the seller has lots of reviews (positive reviews are even better).
Yes this is true.

@Iyamefa, thanks for all the tips and advice you give here. God bless you.
I just got to Canada 2 months ago and I want to invite my MIL to stay with my 10 months old baby for 6 months after which he will start day care. I will be resuming work soon.
How much details do I put in my invitation letter as per reason for coming and duration of stay?
How much money do I show in my Canada account?
How do I justify MIL family ties back in Nigeria as she doesn't work or trade?
We are a family of 4.. Myself, hubby and 2 kids
Thanks titiclassy! As AZeD1 said, don’t indicate in your invitation letter that your MIL is coming to help watch your baby, you can say she’s coming to visit. There’s no ‘guide’ to how much money is required to be in your account. Just ensure it’s enough to actually cover her expenses for the period she would be with you. She should include her statement of account as well.
If she doesn’t work or trade, you can attach a C of O of a house/landed property in her name to show ties. If she was working and is now retired, there are portions to indicate what she did before retirement, if possible also attach any doc pertaining to her retirement.
Anyone else with other ideas can chip in

Please has anyone here successfully bought something on ebay?

Please how does it work?
Yes plenty of times. Go online or download the app and register. Ensure you’re on eBay Canada and not eBay US. Some of the products might be sort from the eBay US site automatically then you get to pay in CAD for them. Just like any other shopping site, place items in your cart, checkout and pay. The end

I went to the hospital today and was told i had malaria .

In another news,
Doctor prescribed Coartem but on getting to the pharmacist , she instead it wasnt safe since pregnancy isn't up to 3 months .

Torn between the two professionals now , don't know whom to follow .

mothers what do you think ?
Sorry I have no idea about the drug, you can check online and/or seek another opinion to be on the safe side. Another thing, it’s not the malaria responsible for the greenish vomit. As a mama said earlier, if you throw up when there’s no food in your stomach (mostly in the mornings before breakfast), since there’s no food to be vomited, that greenish bile comes out. It could even be yellowish sometimes.

Please ensure you treat yourself.

Pregnancy brain rant

So I woke up early, got ready and made it to the hospital for my 9am regular prenatal appointment with my obstetrician.
On getting to the hospital, I met with the receptionist lady who looked at me funny and said ‘Err honey why are you here today?’ Before I opened my mouth, she started laughing. I looked at the date on my phone and realized my appointment is for tomorrow and not today shocked

If I'm not mistaken Similac is lactose free or so. Ideally for when babies are allergic to regular milk. Enfamil is highly revered in Nigeria maybe because it's very expensive lol.
Oh good to know, we learn everyday lol. I plan on breastfeeding exclusively for at least first 6 months so baby formula for me is gonna come much later

Anto colic bottles (avent)

Oh wow Similac and enfamil sent me boxes of sample baby food. As a FTM with no experience with baby formula, I wanted to even come here to ask if they are good brands. Thanks for clarifying

Thanks alot for your replies. From the information I was given about the account, I don't think it's a specific type of account yet (please see attached pic). So can I just send the money now and deal with the rest when I get there ?
Also, due to bank costs and the fact that I'm not sure if bank can transfer directly to CAD, I was thinking of using rave by flutterwave to transfer instead but I'm a little scared. I've used them for some small transactions but I've also seen some bad reviews about them. What are your thoughts please?
My guess is they opened a basic CAD chequing account for you but I would advise to contact your bank to confirm. In order to complete a wire transfer from Nigeria, it has to be sent to a USD account which you can also request for from NBC. Sorry, I have no direct experience with rave by flutterwave so can’t advice. All I know is that Wakanow seems to use them for payments in other currencies. I recently paid for a flight with my CAD card on Wakanow and rave by flutterwave was what showed up on my account, not wakanow. Don’t know if that helps but that’s all I know about them.

Hello.

I want to invite my mum, and i would please like to know if i must notorize the letter of invitation.
Would appreciate your response
Are you already in Canada and settled? If yes,it’s not compulsory to notarize the letter of invitation. It’s not stated anywhere on the application that this letter should be notarized. I applied for my parents including this letter which I simply typed and attached and their applications have since been approved.

Lol...valid one.

These sort of cards are meant for frequent travelers (in naija parlance, people wey sabi chop life grin).
From what I know about these sort of cards, the benefits far outweigh the annual fee. However, I doubt a $120 card will qualify as a premium card, perhaps in Canada...Lol. The ones I know, mostly from the US, cost $500 yearly, on the average.
Lol yeah in Canada, the $120 elite cards are premium cards with travel insurance benefits and some even come with complementary lounge key/priority passes to access vip lounges at the airport while traveling anywhere in the world.

It’s also important to know that even most basic no fee credit cards come with purchase protection and/or extended warranty. A lot of people don’t use services they have simply because they don’t know or care to read about them. For people who don’t like reading (please change your minds and learn to read), you can call up your bank or the insurance company they partner with to give you a detailed breakdown of any coverage your card has.

WoodcrestMayor:
Naija banks regard any currency other than GBP, uSD and Euro as 3rd currencies and usually don't do movements in those currencies. I'll suggest you ask you bank if they can move CAad without converting to UsD. If they cant, get back to Rbc and ask them to open you a high interest E-savings USD account.
He/she is referring to nbc though which is National bank of Canada. @cychristaa as @woodcrestmayor said, Nigerian banks can do a wire transfer for you in USD so you would have to open a USD account with your Canadian bank so you can convert to CAD when you land (with same bank if you want). Drawbacks? Bank fees (from Nigeria)
