I beg to seriously defer on the fact that foods prices in Northern Cyprus are relatively the same with that of Nigeria. Have been here for three weeks and i most confess it was beyond what i expected. Didn't pack any food stuffs with the hope that food aren't expensive in these overseas country but it dashed my believe.
A slice of bread that you’ll get in Nigeria for #150 is 4TL, approximately #400, here. Big Bunch of banana (the Igbo type) that you get for #200 in Nigeria if you don’t have your 7TL (#700) just forget it. A sachet of hot pepper that goes for #20 in Niger is 1.5TL, equivalent of #150. I can go on and on. They just dash students’ admission just to come and invest money into their Economy and the annoying part is the taxi guys see’s black has a potential mugu to exploit; how can I pay 7TL for a distance that is less than 20 meters; #700 it’s crazy and they open their stinking mouth to tell me it’s the standard fee. How can one pay 20TL, #2000, for a Nigeria food, even the most expensive BUKA (with different parts of goats in one big bowl) at Kingsway road Ikoyi, isn’t charging that. Really it’s not the fault of the restaurant becauses the taxes are high and also getting it down is something else. The only thing that is relatively okay is chicken that’s it any other things- Clothes, electronics, phones an endless list- are killing. Things are bleeping expensive here.
I'll advice if it's possible pack enough food stuffs that will last you for one year before you go back home, if you plan going back ever summer for me am jetting back December.

@wip, tnx 4d info I am presently filling my visa form and I want to be adviced on what to answer for these questions: duration of stay visa is requested for , days., date of arrival and depature (think same day)? Also, I asked earlier on (pls read my previous 3rd or 4th post above) about what necessary documents to certify in Min.of ed. ,and number of copies of all my documents are required. Pls advice me.

Dis thread has enjoyed tranquility and decency so far that no body uses derogatory word like labelling pple bad egg or sort of. Moreso, u didn't even clarify whats legally obtainable as regards my post, pls advice on all the issues I raised especially d certification stuff. @yemmy, pls I appologize. Receipt of Payment is the receipt issued by the school after payment.Well,its not compulsory you have a receipt of payment.If you get to ercan i.e the airport in Trnc,they will ask of your conditnal and unconditn.They may take you inside a room and they will bring out a book to cross check if your name is among those list sent to them by the school.Their immigration officers are not strict except dey see u with drugs or marijuana then you will see the other side of them.they are friendly.How to get your resident permit,after you get to the school,you will be given a free accomodation for like a week or more.for like me when i was there ,i stayed in the room for good 4 weeks for free.Free water ,free internet and so on.Just go to your school register again from there and your name will be forwarded to your department ,go to your department and check the list ,Your name would be there.Then you can get a student letter.So these are what you need to apply for permit.Valid student letter,Blood test result showing you are hiv negative ,no tuberculosis and free of hypertite b.get a stamp and pay for the years of permit you are interested in getting.submit it to the internatnal office of d school and will be processed for 2 weeks .after 2 weeks you get your permit.I hope this infomtn helps.

i think der is nothin anyone can tell you dat is gonna answer all your questions cos everyone travellin to any part of d world for d first time will be inquisitive, i was even more curious more dan u wen i was going den, but i can assure you that everything is gonna be ok. just remain focus and optimistic.

Banku is a replica of semo because its made from corn flour and u prepare it d same way as semo is done.
its nice to eat african food atleast once aweek but i think when u are der and u see how d life is der den u can make conclusion on hw often u would visit d african store.
chicken is cheap in TRNC but d parts(legd nd necks) are more cheaper.
bringing staple foods along with you 4rm naija will go along way to make u fit into d system properly and you can also come along with your pot if its not gonna occupy were 10 indomies ought to be kept.(pot is not xpensiv nd u can as well get for free or 2nd hand)

What is banku? @iz2much, is there any turkish food dat can really serve as solid as eba/garri which freshers can feast on during their period of adaptation? U are d best person to answer me with a first hand info esp.as u went there with little or no naija meal then, yet u survived it till now. I wish to knw everything so dat I won't make any mistakes. Even after once adaptation, what simple food can somebody (who doesn't know much about d act of cooking)possibly learn fast and make my favourite routined meal? Get enough indomies.Garri,dry fish,dry panmo and egusi.am sure with all these things ,you can go a long way.Any money you make then can be used to pay for your apartment.Pay for excess luggage if possible so u can be able to take enough food stuffs with u.You will not regret doing It, I bet you.after your garri has Finished Nah banku [/b]remain oooooooo, u can eat chicken fingers sha, Its a nice meal as well, In conclusion ,food are very cheap in Trnc.Most people go for  chicken back bone and that could last only you for a week.Chicken back bone is about 2ytl.I do go the market to buy ogunfe head.thats about 4ytl sometimes 5ytl.[b]Cow leg and so on.They have [b]okro [/b]too.You will find North cyprus pleasant if you know how to manage yourself.

Are students allowed to work in N. Cyprus? If yes, why will they not report to the appropriate authority for unpaid work? Even when you don't have a written contract with the company and you can get a good evidence that you worked with the company you can report them to authority for not paying. Although I guess there will be much corruptions there like in Turkey too.

Depends on how u spending,,, if you can buy food stuffs, you should be able to manage 150Tl monthly for food, as for the wrk it's daily, and pray you get a good one whereby they pay u after the hard job, cus some don't pay, they use pple out here,

What reasonable Institution on earth gives student 50% discount irrespective of academic performance, that alone should tell anyone what they are up to. North Cyprus is probably the worst place to study right now, the racism is extreme probably one of the worst racist country. As for the facilities of a thing, the facilities your boasting of are old and nothing wonderful about those cheap facilities you boast of.

If you hate yourself go to North Cyprus, where no one speaks English, Even your instructors are racist, The prisons are full of frustrated Senegalese, Ghanaian, and especially Nigerians, who most times do certain things out of frustration. Nigerian there scam people a lot, the good ones are rare to see. North Cyprus is a 98% muslim country with all sort of crazy and insane Muslim laws, and the Turkish people that make of the country are all assholes.

Am not restraining anyone from going, Majority of people go there because its cheap, that a fact. Thats why all you see is mostly student from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Iran and rural areas in Turkey.
