let me paint a perfect picture of this issue to you guys,
some years back i had to go to warri to settle some issues.
i had an uncle who i stayed with when i was still in school there, and decided to put up in his house.
on getting to warri very late i must add, i went straight to his place and was told by the wife that he travelled to Benin.
i tried going into the house and was told by her that my uncle said not to allow any one sleep over. and it was raining heavily that particular night.

funny i was just gonna sleep for the night, cos i was leaving for Lagos the next day. anyways i finally put up in a hotel, and
when i called my uncle the next day to confirm her story, he admitted giving her that instruction, but expected her to use her discretion.

now the funny part,
my uncle just got married to some1 else, and sent her wife packing.
none of my relatives went to beg on her behalf cos they all claimed she was nasty to them at some point or the other.
i bet if she was nicer, some1 wud have stood up for her.
u never now when u wud need those in-laws u are proving nasty to now.

Its unfair for the woman to be automatically expected to give up her privacy because her brother in law is "in need". Any right thinking woman who just got married (or otherwise) will put up objections and feel offended at the violation of her privacy. Why would anyone expect me to feel comfortable that a stranger is hearing my moans and groans as I sleep with my husband? Like seriously?

On the other hand too, it is unfair of the woman to ask her husband to turn his back on his own brother who is in dire need. Finance is tight, accommodation is another wahala.
However, I'd advice OP to find a middle ground with his wife. Allow his wife pick a time frame in which the brother has to get a job and move out. If he's unable to get a job and accommodation within that time, both brothers should seek the help of other single family members in Lagos.
Note that even after the OP has moved into a flat, it is still not ok for your brother to live with you especially if your wife is not comfortable with it.
