The one problem with Nigerians especially Muslims, is that they are difficult to see reasons with you especially when your action is contrary to the rituals. Christians can tolerate certain things so far they can continue with what they are doing afterwards. For God's sake, this incident could have been cleary avoided if the Shiitees had given the convoy of the COAS free passage from the onset. They clearly out of illiteracy doesn't know what The Chief of Army Staff represents. How can you stand in front of a fast moving train and expect not to be crushed? A clear look at the picture can tell you that the representatives of the group addressing the Army personels were proving stubborn. Take a look at the guy tying scarf and the one in red jacket.
Nevertheless, the COAS should please call his men to order.

This is what I deduced from the article:
1. It's a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time (for both sides) . The protocol unit of The Chief of Army Staff should or seems to know forehand that the Shiitees will be having such an event, but found it not worthy to change the itinerary of the COAS. The Islamic movement on its side were unfortunate to have their ritual (which is as old as time) coincide with the visit of the COAS.

2. The Movement MAY NOT have deliberately wanted to attack the COAS convoy, but rather were irked by the disruption his convoy was causing to their "Rites of passage" . But then, they should have also been wise enough to understand that the said convoy was that of Chief of Army Staff and not that of former President Goodluck Jonathan which even beggars, children etc on the streets can pelt with what ever they wish and go scot free .

3. Finally, I thank God that the COAS is a fellow Muslim and not Christian because they would have viewed it from another perspective (if you know what I mean).
