Private citizens blocking the road with their cars and refusing to allow other cars pass, even though they are in the wrong. Chilling in their Benz SUV thinking they do not have to listen to these Toyota and Honda driving rabble. People begging "oga, please now, just reverse a little so that other cars can move".
Oshiomole just did it at the level available to him, just like most other Nigerians do.
The idea that once people become political leaders, they enter one shrine or room, and their entire personality/character/value system gets an instantaneous demonic overhaul, is a soothing fantasy.
Power does not change people. It only reveals who they truly are.
I was not at the airport, but I can bet you that a lot of rich people flew this week.
Infact, we can say a good number of rich Nigerians have missed their flight this year.
People miss their flights everyday. We are yet to see Air Peace releasing back to back statements on this kind of behavior
But when one person does it, it's a reflection of who Nigerians are, innit?
raumdeuter: That is because in China you wont see a Chinese man doing these things, Na house rat dey teach bush rat
You saw at the last world cup, they did a documentary of Japanese fans after the world cup matches stayed back and cleaned their area. There is no institution in Qatar that will punish them for it. I wouldn't have done that but it shows these Japanese have something that I don't
When systems are weak, people will exploit them. No need to for big big grammar.
If a Chinese man knows that owing salaries in Nigeria has no penalty, he will owe. Nobody needs to teach him anything
raumdeuter: When Oshomole was a tailor he will claim the labor leaders are the devil When he became a labor leader he will claim politicians, Governors and Senators are the devil When he became a politician governor and now Senator he will now see it has always been inside him
Just like many today claiming our politicians are a special breed until they become politicians
The answer to this "Nigerians are wicked" debate is clear as day.
How come the same wicked Nigerian will go abroad and behave? Did he repent on the flight?
How come the same Chinese that behaves in China, will travel to Nigeria and misbehave? Is it the same flight that changed him?
Because the Institutions are weak, anything goes.
Theflint1: I was addressing your point on us not making conclusions based off a single moment of outburst, if it's okay to make conclusions based off the girls single outburst, we can do same for Pastor Paul...especially since we know his phone was not being stolen
BlueRay suggested Pastor Paul might have an anger problem based on two separate incidences involving the man, and if you need a refresher on what happened the first time he smashed the drivers glass, here's a YouTube link...you'd even see the passengers in the Danfo saying Pastor Paul, and not their driver was the one at fault.
raumdeuter: People generally have beef with people who look rich. When I was younger, anyone who drives a good car was automatically tagged "These are the people spoiling this country " regardless of how he made his money
Very normal.
Na why I would still insist on us hearing Paul's side of the story as to why he smashed the windshield.
If dem never bully you because you drive better motor, you no go understand.
You hit them. Dem bully you Dem hit you. Dem bully you.
I have seen this thing happen countless times.
Theflint1: There are many persons we've seen single outbursts from that we've made conclusions about their personalities off it, the Unizik abi UNN girl is a recent example...Pastor Paul have had two of these sort of situations, it's not out of place to make assumptions on his personality based off those situations.
True. But we made assumptions about the student because we knew what happened.
I cannot see someone slapping another man at the bus stop and say he has anger issues. What if he was trying to steal my iPhone that I sold my land to buy?
KingTom: Bros leave talk for VDM, if Danfo bash your car and holds your shirt while landing slaps on your right cheek, will you form Jesus and turn the other cheek so they can slap it more or will you say 'excuse me Mr. Danfo Driver, I'd like to us to engage in a civil convo please let go of my shirt'
BlueRayDick: The person who slapped them didn’t slap them out of excessive joy but uncontrollable anger . You’ve made my point for me .
If person keep slapping them for their reckless driving and damaged caused to one’s car, one may later have a dead dango driver on his hand sooner or later . Those guys abuse drugs and alcohol , their life is hanging on a thread .
Your point is made on just a single moment of outburst. That's not how life works.
Jesus entered temple and didn't even tell the sellers and buyers to leave. E carry Koboko begin wipe everybody. He obviously has anger issues then.
You cannot say someone has anger issues because you saw him slapping a Danfo driver. Have you known him for the past 40 or 50 years, to come to that conclusion?
diggz: You see Danfo drivers, Okada riders, and Keke people… bro, fear them o!
I have a cousin who had an accident involving a Keke rider. The Keke rider was clearly at fault, but because my cousin was driving one of those luxury Toyotas now worth ₦15 million in today’s market, a crowd quickly gathered and started threatening him. Out of concern for the Keke rider—who, by the way, had no visible injuries—my cousin offered to take him to the hospital. That’s when the real wahala started.
They began demanding that he buy a brand-new Keke. Luckily, the accident happened right in front of a filling station between Warri and Eku, several years ago. The owner of the station, who happened to be a local and spoke the language, quickly intervened—just in time too, because the Mopol stationed at the filling station had already cocked his gun in support of the Keke man and was threatening my cousin.
The station owner ordered the Mopol to step back and addressed the crowd. He told them that my cousin had already shown more than enough goodwill by agreeing to take the Keke man to the hospital, and that anything beyond that wasn’t his responsibility. He also instructed another Mopol to escort my cousin to the hospital, stay until payment was made for the man’s checkup, then follow him to Eku and return. He firmly warned both the Keke man and the Mopol that if anything happened to my cousin, they would be held accountable.
That’s how my cousin got out of the situation unharmed—physically, at least. Mentally and financially? Completely drained.
Can you imagine.
I know them well well....They never take responsibility, once they see a vehicle costlier than theirs.
I pity women the most. They bully them unnecessarily during any incident.
BlueRayDick: I mentioned up there that a crazy driver bashed my barely 3 months old car last December on Christmas Day . I was pissed like everyone would be in that situation but I still walked away without getting any physical with the driver or smashing his car with wheel spanner in retaliation .
I don't get physical with them, or wield spanners
But if I see someone slapping a danfo driver, I don't assume he may have anger issues
There's a different kind of anger and issues that only them can unleash from your soul. Nobody else can do that.
diggz: I don look one private person finish after the guy hit my car…I even dash am small thing to fix him car because e clear say the guy was going through a lot. But you see those Danfo guys can bring out the demon in a saint.
Like Gloriousgbola said, Blueray and Flint must have personal drivers or drive in very sane places.
This Lagos
A bike man once hit me while I was trying to make a turn. Every car stopped for me, but he didn't see me because of the speed. He ran into my car and fell in a gutter.
If not for the cars that stopped and few road sellers who stood by me and defended my position, his whole group almost bullied me to carry him to the hospital and fix his bike.
Theflint1: True this, and it can be an issue managing people that are of that fight-fight nature, cause instead of you seeing what happened...you'd be more focused on their reaction to what happened.
My younger bros get that fighting personality, and we dey always get issue on the issue of why fight, and what caused me to fight
It can be a very complex situation sometimes
You leave your house not happy, after a heated argument with your wife
You go to work. Get into trouble and you're being queried for something that isn't your fault. You could be suspended, and it could affect your salary
You jump into your car to go home, thinking about the frustrations at work, the one waiting for you at home, and your urgent need to offset some debts
Then one Danfo bashes your headlamp, and is trying to blame you. You know your insurance is third party, and he has no valid papers
How many people will easily let this go? If I slap this guy, is it really that I have anger issues?
Theflint1: Chances are it won't get to the point where the driver feels the need to throw the first punch, cause the first couple words is tending towards deescalation strictly on the issue at hand. The matter fit still drag o, but it would be hard for it to tend towards fighting...people that are fighters would always fight and they'd say it's the other person, when in truth it's as much about them as it is about the other person.
I still dey get brain spark once once, but it's very rare.
There's a limit to which you can endure, and then you burst out. I might see your reaction that day, and conclude that you are a very bad tempered man
The issue which led to that must first be looked into.
If my child beats up a kid at school, I'll first ask him what happened, rather than assuming he could be bad tempered.
On these streets of Lagos, the privileged ones are already labeled the cause of all incidents. I can hit you with my car, and it isn't my fault.
Hit an Okada man, and all his compatriots will surround you and bully you to go and treat him. If he hits you too, the same thing
What let to your outburst, matters to me first. That way, I can now assume if you overreacted or not.
BlueRayDick: I’ve issues with Danfo drivers before , maybe not 14 years ( I don’t know the relevance what the relatives of the time line is ) . I know how annoying unruly they can be .
I understand most people will resort to fight them following an accident they caused due to their negligent and reckless driving but we all know that only serves one purpose ; FOR YOU TO RELEASE YOUR ANGER AND HAVE FAUX SENSE OF JUSTICE . It’s not going physical with them will make ur vehicle get fixed .
No matter u look at it ; smashing a danfo driver’s vehicle after an accident he caused is an indication one has anger issues.
I’m sure u know people of the clergy are held to tow societal standards ; the legal standard and the moral standard . A clergy is expected to be morally upright and not practising an-eye-for-an-eye the moment his vehicle gets hit by a reckless driver . That same day , it was Christian’s , Muslims and AtR worshippers that were calling him out simultaneously online because he failed the moral standard test . He even ended up injuring innocent passengers that may have been his potential church members in his fit of rage
You haven't said what transpired, before concluding he has anger issues.
Lagosians are very quick to label the one with the more expensive car as "Wicked" or "at fault", whenever there's an accident between a rich and a poor man.
One day, a bus hit me from behind and spoilt my bumper. Before I'll come down, this guy reversed and ran away
If I pursue am, and destroy his taillamp, people will automatically say I have anger issues.
raumdeuter: A Lebanese, Indian South African, Chinese man who dare not owe worker salary in his own country will enter Nigeria and within 6months don dey owe salary
Ask anyone who worked for a one man business in Nigeria how they got treated by their Oga. How many months salary they were owed
He don dey nack workers for promotion sometimes to get salary you have to nack Oga
One day this Oga will join politics and we will say he is not one of us
Because there are laws that will punish him if he does. If the Lebanese was born kind, why is he now owing Nigerians? Why are the Chinese and Indians owing us then, since they are genuinely kind people?
There are still Nigerian employers that pay their staff.. The banks in Nigeria are almost owned by indigenes. How many dey owe staff?
For everyone passing one way, hundreds are doing the right thing. For every yahoo boy, hundreds are working legitimately.
This "Nigerians are wicked" is just what we have resorted to repeat to ourselves because there's no hope.
All our governors today were not in politics in 1999, most were in business, career or even in school and see what they've turned into today
Check how an average madam treats the househelp you will know how we will treat masses if in politics
Check how the average Oga treats his staff then you will see how he will treat masses when in politics. There was one in Zenith Bank who had employees kneeling down. How many one man business's dey owe salary for 6months in this same Nigeria
See how the average poor person treat another poor person then imagine when they get into power
Just now we dey see drivers without state power following one way and damning whatever happens and the risk to people even those criticizing govt daily like Oseni Rufai
Imagine when those people become governors
Until we have a critical mass of citizens who are genuinely good people nothing will change
How many percentage people who you know their personal lives and you think if this one get power we don enter wahala?
Look at people with small level of power how they do,
Almost all the governors today were nobodies in 1999 All these people one day will become president
I will say if every current politician today dies and we replace all in another 25yrs the new set will be the same as this or even worse
And how many Nigerians have you met to know if there are less genuinely good people?
In a country of 200 million, how many people do you think you have interacted with?
It is even funny how we say Nigerians are wicked, except us ourselves. If I ask you if you fall into that category, it is obviously no. But I shouldn't dwell on the good ones like you. It's the bad ones I should use and stereotype us.
I have been to places and see people help me and people. I have experienced kindness from people who are not expecting anything in return.
That road you saw 3 cars passing one way, 100 cars are doing the right thing too. Why aren't you counting them? It is the 3 cars that are a reflection of us.
Our politicians are never a reflection of us. It is never true.
KingTom: Your point is well respected and valid, I know you will never budget 250 Milla for solar lights worth 300k but will you budget 300k for solar lights worth 300k if you find yourself in the corridors of power? That's the point I'm trying to make, power corrupts and absolute power corrrupts absolutely
Okay, let's talk about Benue.
Your own people are being slaughtered weekly...Almost twice a month, Benue is on the headlines.
Today, Padre is telling us it is People in Abuja that are sponsoring it.
Are you saying if every single person in Benue is made Governor, no one would do anything about the situation?
Because there is no system to checkmate corruption, kickbacks and bribes will thrive. The same person adding 10% on top quotation, will go to Canada and not try it. Is it that he repented on the flight? No.
Our politicians are not a reflection of us a people. We can only deserve them, on the grounds of our stupidity.
KingTom: But the quoted post was asking why Nigerian Politicians are wicked na, this list includes the Cocaine sniffer and master Taxer, it also includes the Beer infrastructure master and Doctor owing lord as well. honorable mention to the Dubai Master and Haliburton commander
In my opinion, the Nigerian politicians are not a reflection of the people.
Look at our political space; 90% of the ruling us since 1999 have all been in politics. Some have finished ruling, and their children are now in power.
These people are not a reflection of you and me.
You can say we deserve the kind of leaders we have, maybe because of our poor choices, but not because they are a reflection of Nigerians.
What they're doing is not exactly illegal. If people seeing all the pastors are doing in open decide to stay plugged in, then it must be because the pastors are providing some value, be it entertainment, or a connection or illusion of a connection to the metaphysical.
It's starting to look like hypnotism
In the wrong hands, these people can be brainwashed to do something else.
People cannot think for themselves anymore.
Theflint1: Na this niche of pastorpreneurs I gbadun pass, they know it's entertainment and don't care that we know it's entertainment hence they focus 100% on providing complete entertainment value.
And it is a very disturbing situation.
