BlueRayDick: I don't agree with u on the bolded. Some of these things actually do matter, exaggeration/inflation of figures just to make some self-serving purposes does matter.
Most of the monies stolen from this country since independence have been through inflating figures of contract. Just last week we say an analysis of the budget spendings and we saw streetlight being done for billions in Bayelsa and same streetlight being done for few millions in Ilesha. Until we are ready to ask questions and analyze the answers to those questions; I'm afraid we are not ready to move forward.
If you will claim subsidy needs to go because of smuggling, u should be able to show realistic and verifiable data that matches what you are projecting. The amount of PMS the government is claiming is being smuggled across the boarder does not match the reality on ground. We need to tell ourselves the bitter truth that the government is lying first.
A junior data analyst knows the figure NNPC/FG have been throwing around does not match reality na I tire oh. Smuggling exists, but the figure in itself should matter. Nigeria says millions are lost through Smuggling everyday, yet the whole West Africa consumes less than what we say we lost. How can that not bother you first? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 9:31am On Sep 16, 2024 |
GloriousGbola: as lonng as there is a subsidy, there will always be smuggling.
during the abacah years - petrol sold for much less in lagos than it did up north.
so during scarcity, a lagos dealer would pay 1m for a tanker of fuel, that would go for maybe 1.2m in lagos. same tanker of fuel would gp for 2m in kano. the next thing the dealer would get a call, the tanker you ordered has been diverted - heres 1.5m. dealer has made his profit, the hustlers have made their profit, the lagos consumers are the ones fked.
this is what is happening with smuggling. there are too many failures in the system to stop smuggling. customs, police, army, nnpc, nsdc, everyone is taking their cut.
as to the govt giving dangote a subsidy, that is a very slipper slope because dangote fully intends to sell pms on the international market. it could turn out just like what is happening now, but on an industrial scale. I thought this smuggling issue has been debunked here. The figure is exaggerated. The figure we claim is being smuggled, is more that what West Africa consumes in a day. |

Itsrm: Yes, OPEC. You can't just decide to sell at any price that pleases you. What we can do is use a lower exchange rate for dangote which is still subsidy on the Dollar.
Anyway, I pray you're right. This 1400/litre don nearly send person go village. Dangote has already made it clear that the crude used for this PMS was purchased in dollars. That's a clear way to tell Nigerians that it cannot be cheaper. Reason why they spent 3 days snapping and making videos of dirty, dilapidated tankers, instead of just releasing a press statement on what the price will be. |

GloriousGbola: If you sincerely believe that apc is the devil incarnate and an evil party, do you think that means the election will somehow automatically be handed over to Peter obi in 2027?
Is that how elections work?
On sob sob the system is rigged, there is federal might, the fg controls the police, the courts the army, nothing can be done, but somehow if we sit on our arses for the next 4 years Peter obi will somehow secure enough votes to become president
Anyway I know you are trolling me, because you know that numbers win elections and you don't build numbers in the last 4 months to an election. Unless you are a politician, or you are benefiting from politics, this should be inconsequential to you. I want Obi to win because he seemed the best out of the three, and because APC failed from 15-19. When Tinubu was building his party from 1960, it was not because he wanted a good life for me. It was for him. No politician is loyal to me, so why should i follow someone because he built kinikan? Remi just blew 700m on unofficial visits. Abeg, how much dem give you inside? Some of us just want to pick the better candidate because it affects us, not because someone has been building like the people of Babel. |

GloriousGbola: Apc started from Lagos as AC and was grown organically over 8 years or more.
Apc contested Ekiti in 2013 with federal might Apc contested ondo with a powerful incumbent Apc contested Kwara when Saraki was controlling the machinery
It is however not surprising that you are fully obidient and like Peter obi rather than slowly build a party to the national level, you would rather key into an existing structure.
Na so Peter abandon Apga.
This is how you build LPs structure between now and 2027. But then again in the end your activism ends with shouting 'apc bad!' in Nairaland
Poor olumide Apata, abandoned even on Nairaland by weak willed supporters
They went for it, lost, learned the lesson So in all these structures that APC built, wetin the common man benefit inside? I am fighting for my life here, you dey advertise structure. |
