Let it end in a deadlock first. After that he can move to next stage. The wise thing to do is to get broad support and if that does not work then he can try more aggressive measures. Alexander the Great first tried to untie the Gordian knot before he eventually cut it with a sword.
It is because of all these soft measures that we have insecurity everywhere.

I cannot be diplomatic with anybody that wants to hurt me.

Wike didn't apply diplomacy when he handled IPOB. The ones that have been applying diplomacy are still having it hot hot.

When diplomacy has failed, then a state of emergency and suspension of the governor usually follows, Meaning the state is governed from Abuja directly
You should have just typed YES to my questions.

Tinubu is simply talking to say Soludo, This UGM issue is escalating, what are your plans for it and how can we help. We have the Nigerian military ready to assist. Lets know in areas we can help you

At the end of the day Soludo was elected by Anambrans to govern them directly and Soludo should know about Anambra problems and solutions more than Tinubu in Abuja

If Soludo doesnt know how to resolve the obvious problem, then he is not fit for the seat and a State of emergency is in order
Everything that needs to stop UGM is controlled by Tinubu, so how can Tinubu be asking Soludo how he can help?

That is what Larride was telling you.

With people still dying en masse, If it ends in a deadlock that is when a State of Emergency becomes necesary
Without diplomacy abi?

So now, Tinubu can now send aircrafts without seeking for permission, shey?

A governor that will have such heavy military presence in his state deserves to know and approve of it before the deployment. Yes or No?

Or do you think its okay for people to wake up see aircraft, military boats and even the state governor cannot tell what is going on?
He deserves to know.

This is different from your comment that says he should ask them how he can support

Yeah i think this is what Dayo was talking about. The diplomacy comes first by meeting with the governors and other political leaders and preparing a soft-landing for the military. If Tinubu just sends soldiers in there without first getting political support from the local leaders, the narrative will change very quickly.
I am not saying this idea is bad, but Let's assume that the meeting ends in a deadlock, because of one issue or the other

What should Tinubu do?

What you have posted here shows there is a collaboration between the LASG and FG to allow LASG use FG police, pay them extra, equip them specially and use them for special tasks

Without the collaboration with LASG how will Soldiers from Abuja know where to attack and how to stop robbers in Makoko. NPF will simply withdraw their Police guys
Your past quotes was on collaborating with locals..Now it is LASG. Abi State government don turn Locals?

Well, no policeman was imported from Abuja to form RRS. It is still within their unit that they formed it.

They can remove the RRS name tomorrow, and it would still be the same thing

Yes there was a reason that Ebubeagu/ Amotekun was created, So if they are not working to capacity, what can be done to make them better.
And if FG soldiers are coming they have to follow Ebubeagu people who will show them where to attack else Col Umar will just start shooting innocent boys playing ball
The perpetrators of Owo Massacre were not caught by Amotekun.

There will always be a limit to what a local vigilante can handle. All they have are vehicles and local guns.

We are talking of a security input that would need air surveillance, water navigation, more troops and weaponry and a large network of stations to collaborate. No governor has this under his control.

There will always be more Policemen than Vigilantes in any state, so how can you be suggesting that a state governor starts from the vigilates, in a critical moment like this?

Who controls RRS. FG or State governor
RRS na Police naa.

It is just a unit formed by the Lagos State Police Force.

They are still employed by the FG, and yes they can be transferred by that same FG

In different state they have what they control. In SE the governors control the local Ebubeagu. These Ebubeagu commanders are likely to know these UGM personnel and hideouts better than a Col Umar from Katsina state

Col Umar will likely get to Enugu and just shoot any young man between 18 and 55 to show that he is working, In a few weeks the locals will run to UGM to save them from Col Umars invaders and further lose the war
So, a state governor should start his plans from a local vigilante that he created?

How, sir? How!!

So without collaboration of the locals, how will FG soldiers know who is Emeka UGM and Emeka innocent trader? Abi shey the killers get special color ni? Or shey FG will just enter there and shoot every young man?
One of the reasons why robberies stopped on 3MB was because there are RRS patrols stationed at the beginning, middle and end of the bridge.

They did not need to ask all the Makoko residents who were the thieves. If dem born the person well, come and rob and escape.

It is in Nigeria you will hear that the Police needs to be asking who did what or not.

There is obviously little or no presence of security, and that is why crime would continue to thrive

He needs to meet to meet with the governors and other political leaders and come up with a plan for military intervention. A plan that they can sell to their people in order to get the support of the people on the streets and strip the terrorists of popular support.

Military intervention in the SE is probably inevitable but it should have a broad multilateral support, not a unilateral action by an unpopular Yoruba president. That is the hard truth.
Maybe my English is bad, but this doesn't look like diplomacy to me.

And yes, this is what i totally agree with.

The governor of every state is the CSO of the state and FG should not be going until the State govt indicates they cannot handle it anymore

Any FG intervention means a vote of no confidence on the state gov ability to secure his state which usually leads to a state of emergency and suspension of the state gov
What security structure does a state control? That is the first question i want you to answer.

To win a war like this, you need the support of the people, Because the people on ground know the attackers and will help the govt to point them out. If not handled with diplomacy and tact before long the same people being murdered will see the FG as the oppresor and UGM as the savior. The same way many Afghan believe Taliban/ISIS beheading them is their savior against the US is the enemy
Na in the olden days this bolded dey work.

If these people knew their attackers, do you think BK and UGM would still be existing?

Nobody is seeing the FG as the oppressor, unless you are rooting your theory on reels and videos online.

Your (FG) people are being murdered innocently, but somehow, we need diplomacy to curtail it.

In my opinion, Diplomacy is what has kept the NE war till today.

This article below was in 2012

We should learn from the Boko Haram fiasco. So that state and FG will be on the same page in addressing the issue. If not there will be finger pointing like the below
The comment you quoted did not ask for an Emergency rule. He said a special operations should be formed for it.

Why does Tinubu needs to seek permission to stop killings and abduction in the SE?

Everything has to be handled with wisdom. You and i know that if Tinubu just rushes in with the military without getting the support of the governors and other leaders the story will be different. He needs to apply both force and diplomacy.
So, what kind of diplomacy can you suggest?

When i used Wike's method as a means to end BK in the NE, i was schooled here that they are not the same.

If Wike didn't brutally flush that nonsense then, Rivers would be observing sit at home today.

Innocent people were murdered and some were abducted. I still wonder the kind of diplomacy we need to end that.

NE governors consistently asked the FG for help

https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-nigeria-election/nigerian-governors-facing-boko-haram-request-more-troops-before-election-idUKKBN0KF1NQ20150106
The governor was concerned that the people in his state would not be able to vote.

So he asked for extra troops..meaning there was already an operation running. This is a link of 2015. Insurgency started 2009/2010

So which one is currently running in the SE, so we can ask Elders and Senators to beg for more troops?

Its a federation, The governors are the closest to the people and they know how best to tackle the problem in their locality. If a governor cannot handle it then he can ask FG for support the same way it happened when SanwoOlu, Makinde etc couldnt handle endsars and reached out to FG for support
No sir.

Reread Larride's comment again. He suggested this

There should be a special operations in the SE just like we have in the NW and NE to fish out those bastards, then aggressively go after their sponsors.
So, why can't this be done? Instead you suggested that Tinubu should ask them what they want.

Did Buhari and GEJ ask the NE what they wanted before deploying troops there to stop BK and ISWAP?

I think BAT should meet with the governors, elders and Senators in the region ask them how they want to address the situation and if there is anyway FG can support them

The elders of the region should lead in this because if FG takes any step now, before long you will start hearing different tales. Till now there are many who believe there are no UGM its Buhari DSS guys killing and harassing people.

If FG starts anything that is how you will start seeing tags to US embassy, UN, Ecowas everyone about genocide and how everything was peaceful until FG sent intervention
Is the SE another country that the FG needs to seek counsel, and provide support?
