So let's take what you said.
We have shell, total, agip, Mobil, chevron. Each has jv with the fg. Within each company, they have a map of thier own network. Within each company, there will be limits on how much information about the network is available, because vandalism has been a thing since the 90s and there is clearly insider information. So ultimately Who do you think will have the map of the complete network, particularly as this will be a confidential, need to know document?
Let me guess...

A Vice president that came in around 2007 right?

Nobody in NNPC can have it. It was kept waiting for the President and President only.

Make una dey tone down with una assumptions abeg.

Two or three of your likes will easily figure out our power diagrams. Why can't you think that too?

I worked on nepa 330kv circuits in my first job. We had info on some of the circuits, but not all. But the power minister would obviously have the information on the ENTIRE power network at his disposal, not so?

That is what happens when you are the oga at the top. You have the birds eye view, the portfolio view, the strategic information.
TCN has a head. There are other managers under him

Are you telling me none of them knows the entire architecture?

It must be the Power minister baa?

For the gazillionth time I am not defending Buhari. Some of your questions are sound - very even.

The issue is, with those contracts, Jonathan could not turn around to fight them. So they ran away. Tompolo and co started flouting their wealth and you saw how wealthy they became. Under Buhari, even though they had the coordinates and could even bunker and vandalize, he was at war with them so they feared for their lives. It is the way OBJ got Boyloaf and co killed. It was tit for tat. Asari ran to Ghana or Togo because PMB wanted him. Did they not live large when Jonathan was in power?
Maybe Jonathan paid them because he wanted them to leave the pipelines alone....The exact same thing Buhari is doing.

Why can't you see it that way too?

Isn't it possible?

Nigeria has a 330kv power network. There was a time when deliberate vandalism of some circuits was going on. Now imagine that the fg gave some vandals a protection contract and gave them the entire plan of Nigerias 330kv network

Yes, sabotage has been going on, but now it can be properly coordinated and planned and not random.

It is no longer a case of I know.there is a line between Ikeja and Benin, or I know there is a line between. Alaojo and ikorodu. I now have the plans for the entire network and I know the points at which I can strike to bring it down completely.

If I know the feeder lines or the trunk lines or the mains lines, I can steal oil far more effectively than if I am operating with small insider knowledge. That is the difference in oil bunkering before and after gej.
You are not even the president, but you know this much

But an NNPC staff would not know our pipeline architecture. It has to be Jonathan that will hand it over

Some of us who know Jonathan personally can tell you one or 2 things you may never know otherwise. Corruption was always rife in Nigeria but he took it to astronomical levels. That is what many of you don't want to accept.

Nobody is villanizing him and extolling Buhari. Both failed. One just over-failed. In this instance, Jonathan overdid it by giving the source of the problems the control over that same source. He gave the Hyenas the role of protecting the Goats.
I am not defending Jonathan on what happened.

I just want you to see how you are twisting a tale to make sense.

If the militants have Nigeria's pipeline architecture like you said, why will they trade it for 4 billion naira?

I am not sure you understand me or G.G. Militants did not have the coordinates before. They just vandalized what they could find.

Jonathan opted to pay them to 'protect' it so he had to tell them where it was and how it was networked.

Buhari stopped paying them and even tried to get them arrested. Then they fought back by returning to vandalism- this time more potently as they knew the coordinates better than ever since, Jonathan did what he did.
If they have the coordinates and have Nigeria by the balls, why would they trade it for 4 billion?

Infact, what is the assurance that their hands are off the cookiejar? Isnt it possible that they could be siphoning oil, and still be collecting free 4 billion?

I really hope to understand why you should slander Jonathan for paying militants, and defend Buhari for paying the same militants.

May the heavens open my eyes

This is not about defending Buhari.

You cannot ungive coordinates or maps or plans of critical infrastructure. Once they are out in the wild, that is it. Finito.

a pipeline is not like a door where you just change the key. It is fixed infrastructure.

An example Years ago I was given a hard copy of drawing of nepas 132kv network to replicate in cad. I still have it to this day.

Buhari is not paying tompolo for the map of the pipelines. He is paying tompolo to make oil thieves leave the pipelines alone so Nigeria can make money.

You are the alpha thug here. We thought we could do away with you, but we were wrong. Call the rest of the thugs to order.

That is what a protection scam is.
Pipelines have existed before Jonathan became an LG Chairman

We are talking about pipelines that have been laid as far back as the 80s. Do you really think that those creek riff-raffs don't know about its architecture?

Not to forget about locals that work at these rigs and facilities, giving out information for some greasing?

Why can't you also assume that Jonathan was paying the militants so they can back off, and lets have our normal bpd in place?

I'm not holding any brief for Jonathan, but its evidently clear he must always be the villian, and Buhari, the hero

The pipeline network is a fixed entity. The coordinates are not going to change. Especially as the oil majors have all moved offshore.

Buhari's paying tompolo is acknowledging that tompolo has beaten and defeated the fg at this game.

The FG is literally paying the mafia protection money

Nice pipeline you got there. Would be a shame if something happened to the oil in it.
I must really commend the energy in trying to defend Buhari at all costs..

When it got to Jonathan, he paid the militants, and gave them coordinates.

When it got to Buhari, Tompolo beat him to his game, and got 4 billion in return.

If Tompolo has the coordinates like you said, will he be stupid enough to give it up for 4 billion?

Bro, not trying to be overly pessimistic but Dangote will join the cartel because he is in business to make money.

Oil theft, militancy and the Navy are all intertwined which is why it will never end in Nigeria. That is what I was pointing out to the other guy but they think everything is about APC or Buhari.

Jonathan gave the coordinates to Nigeria's oil pipeline distribution network to militants in the guise of the protection contracts so of course production was not as affected since he was settling the main detractors. Then Buhari stopped it initially so they fought back like they did against OBJ. That is not to say crude theft and bunkering is not ongoing. It is not any more significant than it ever was in the past. Fact.

The news about discovering secret pipelines was after Buhari decided to offer something back to Tompolo and co. That was their way of showing him what his money could do. They knew those coordinates because GEJ gave it to them courtesy, Deziani.

You cannot ungive the coordinates of the pipeline network.

It is going to be a problem for the lifetime of this country.

Nigeria has been repeatedly described in international journals as the world capital of oil theft

The issue cannot be tackled from within, but it may be tackled from without.

If the federal govt can track the buyers, catch them and demonstrate that they have stolen Nigerias oil and fire them with enough punitive action, it becomes a is this worth the risk scenario.

83℅ of oil wells in Nigeria are owned by Northerners. Pipelines connect from the oil wells. He wants us to believe Jonathan who became GCFR in late 2010 is responsible for the oil theft which had been going on for decades or illegal oil bunkering which had been going on since GEJ was still Patience's lecturer.

You have a point. I'm not in a position to give a lengthy reply right now, but In my opinion, it is Nigeria's weak institutions have left the masses at the mercy of these leaders you describe.

But bruh, corruption is everywhere. The difference between a UK/US and us is that the government is closer to the people in the form of councils and states. There's also a dominannt social culture which allows and encourages individual franchise.

I believe more people are likely to feel empowered to compete for president in a country where there's only 5 states. The competition will naturally lead contestants to develop differentiation strategies, such as a dominant political ideology and/or a focus on performance. We saw it in the 60s. It can happen again.
I understand you, bros

But with the way corruption is rooted in every tribe, state and even religion, nothing would change even if it is 5 states

I agree that we have weak institutions, and the people are at the mercy of these thieves. But then, this is not a problem that regional government will solve.

The past president (Offorkansi) did his tenure and extended it. It took a court order to throw him out.

After much politicking, an election was conducted of which another guy won (Jim Best).

Them no let this man rest. From one court to another. His wife and elder brother even died while he was president. Finally finally, they threw him out

They just conducted another one on this week. Only one candidate was on the ballot, and only him won. I never see this kind election before.

Why do you think so?
Nigeria's problem is the fact that all our options are corrupt individuals. The people ruling us are theives, irrespective of tribe or religion.

Look at Bayelsa for example. Is it when they go their separate ways that they will blossom? When as a state, the indigene as a Governor cannot be responsible and accountable to his fellow brothers?

All the states i have been to in Nigeria have poverty written all over them. Except Lagos, the rest are way way below the poverty line. Yet, it is their own son of the soil that is the governor. So what will dividing the country do?

Divide Nigeria into the 6 geopolitical zones, and in few months, we will be having states looking for their own exit.

That is why I am voting for Renewed Hope.
