You don't need to be a lawyer to be in charge of legislature. You will have dozens of Law and constitution experts writing the legislation and reviewing for you

Saraki was Senate President he was a doctor,
You are making my point for me sir.

Saraki did not just have SSCE when he was Senate president.

Like I said, you are the one attaching a particular field to it.

A Secondary school holder like Maduka and Dangote can see the need for experts to run their business, Same way OBJ and Tinubu can see it

If OBJ without a Uni degree can see it, why cant any Emeka, Ade or Alli without a degree see the same thing

Dangote never went to a Uni I am sure he knows more about economics than many who had graduate degrees
Like I said, for every Dangote, there are millions that failed. Its quite unfortunate that Dangote and Maduka are not on the ballot.

We are talking about someone who is in charge of Legislature, and we are saying an SSCE holder is fine?

No bros.....

Any reason why they shouldnt be eligible?

Governance is by assemblying people who can do the job, Its basically administrative work. A president isnt going to do many of the things that will fix the economy

Under OBJ when the economy grew small, OBJ was a soldier who never heard of any Economic theory before but he was able to assemble smart Okonjo, Soludo etc to do it
You are the one attaching a particular field to a degree. I am saying a degree is fine.

OBJ isn't an economist, but he's educated to see potentials in Okonjo, Soludo etc. Do you think an SSCE holder would have seen that?

Or Tinubu's experience and success in identifying potentials to run Lagos has nothing to do with the fact that he had a degree?

There is a difference between a degree holder and an SSCE, even if you don't give them questions relating to any field. Their thought process is not alike.

Na Nigerian educational system cause am sha.

This is true. The minimum should start from a degree for Executive and legislative positions.

I'm disappointed it was not included in the new electoral act that was signed into law.
Thank you.

That minimum of SSCE is just too low for a position that is charged with making laws.

It is not really about coming of age. Most of the developed countries don't even have some of these educational requirements.

For example, the U.S and the U.K don't have educational requirements for President and Prime Minister respectively.
We have a large number of the uneducated.

If we don't place a premium on requirements,
anybody with large followers and a F filled WAEC is eligible.

If anyone wants to rule, they should pay the price of a degree.

I disagree and I think this is unnecessarily elitist. There are many smart people who did not go beyond Secondary school. I doubt US even has a degree requirement to be president

Someone as smart and successful as Dangote, Cosmas Maduka will you say he isn't qualified to be president?

We place too much premium on University education in Nigeria and to be honest half of the University students in Nigeria have no business going to college but we have this mentality that you University education is a proof of intelligence and the only way to success

There are traders, IT guys and businessmen who didnt get a UNi degree. In many organizations in the US you dont even need a Uni degree. One of my directors na while working he got his long distance Bachelors and was heading an entire unit in a giant organization
Cosmas Maduka and Aliko Dangote all have educated people on their team. I don't think they would accept an SSCE holder to manage a part.

And yes, maybe the US or UK don't. But if you dig out their profiles, I don't think any would have just a pre school cert.

A degree is not too much to ask for one to administrate the affairs of millions of people.

Let's not downplay education because of few that got through life without it..

For every Dangote and Cosmas, there are millions that didn't break through

Other than degrees, making debates compulsory will go a long way in ensuring sound candidates get elected. You can't be dodging opportunities to speak on the validity of your ideas and expect to be taken serious.
Debates can only be effective when a larger population are literate and also have access to the media.

The noise of Obi being on CNN is just for us online and those who have access to media. A large population in Abakaliki, Osogbo or Gusau don't even know he had one, talk more of understanding what he says.

The illiterate and under privileged population is too high to make debate effective

We should do better than pegging the minimum requirement for a political post as SSCE.

A degree should be the minimum requirement, and if possible 2:2

It had been known since that he graduated with a PASS in Philosophy. Obi never debunked that. Even when BAT was dragged about Primary school, it was no news that PO had PASS.

Suddenly, we are seeing a photocopy of a 2:2.

Of course I have read it here. Not sure whether its Joezinho or Illimmitable that made that statement here.

A lot has been said on this place that dont amount to shit and that's why I'm curious why you keep repeating that same line everytime here even when it has nothing to do with the discussion on ground as if some people are somewhere forcing you to stay or leave Lagos.

You can have a structure and people under that structure will go rogue. The larger your structure, the more difficult it is to control all the individual units.

The umbrella body has come out to distance themselves from the sticker. They have also given out their phone number so members of the public can report cases of harassment. I am on the basis of that absolving them and BAT by extension of any blame.

What we should help them do is fish out those miscreants who are tarnishing the image of their union.
I understand your point.

I'm telling you boldly that no such thing is happening and if you say it's happening, all you need to do is go your bus stop and verify for yourself. It shouldn't be hard to do.

You really should go check up the meaning of propaganda
You said no such thing happened. And you have no proof.

MC didn't say it didn't happen. He said he is not aware, he will investigate, and gave us toll lines to call.

You called something propaganda without any proof. He didn't dismiss it, but told us he was not part of it.

Good, now your true colors is coming out, I'm glad that you are no longer trying to hide under the sarcasm you are trying to hide under.

Since the beginning of this thread till till today that I called you out, you can kindly show me where I told you or anyone else to go back to their village.

The day BlueRay talked about Agbero, we disagreed and dragged on Agbero and nothing else. You have the right to criticize whatever you want to criticize and I have the right to disagree and set the record straight, it's not my business whether it stay well with you not.

The constitution gives everyone the right to stay, live and work in any part of the country and I have never challenged anyone right to that but you on the other hand is the one that keeps telling us how people are telling you to go back to your village everyday.

So anytime you make the statement here, I will rightly remind you to go back to your village.
Where did you see your name as the one that said it?

And do you agree that it is a common line here? Or that one is propaganda too?

And like i said, you can only remind. You can't do anything about it.

You are the one that has been regaling us tears about village talks when nobody ask you. Nobody is forcing anyone out of Lagos so I dont know why you are shedding tears of village at every turn.

Go back to your village if you are tired of Lagos and spare us the tears you shed daily.
Is that line now disturbing your ears?

When people complain, the next line is "Go back to your village if you can't stay in Lagos". I have read that over and over again.

You guys don't condemn what is wrong. The day BlueRay talked about Agbero, you dragged him like a terrorist, as if it does not happen at all.

I will not go back to my village. I will be here watching as both those that accommodated me and are accomodating me pay the 500 and other street tax as we go forward.

I will not go back, Larride, and there's nothing you can do about it

Yes, common sense us not truly common because if it was common you will know the meaning of propaganda.

The koko of the matter is that no one us forcing anybody to buy any BAT stickers the same way nobody was forcing any danfo or okada rider to buy BAT face cap and shirt.
So, what makes it propaganda, is because Larride said nobody is forcing Keke riders to buy Stickers.

That the video was staged. Mcoluomo claims they have investigated and found no evidence of such.

IMO, Some rogue agberos thought it was a good idea to quickly cashout. Difficult to pin that on BAT or McOluomo
If there is one thing you should know, agberos have a structure. A very organised one

You can see how 8 people refused to pay for sticker, but rather they were pleading and trying to dialogue with just one unarmed guy. A typical Nigerian setting would be to slap him or push him away.

Well, BAT may obviously not know about it. This is too minute to disturb him now. But that guy did not print that thing out without some permission from a support group.

But then, we can still pin it on Rogue Agberos. Anything to make everybody sound stupid is acceptable by me
