MC Oluomo is the treasurer, NURTW Lagos state and is a chieftain in the APC(the party of the newly elected governor). So do you honestly expect anything to change?

It is the passengers that bear the brunt. When an extra levy is enacted, they increase the fare and we pay.

Just pray for God to bless you with your own car and forget all these people

Many LASTMA officials will be happy to hear that.
"Excuse me sir, this thing you are saying about Federal laws and State laws, please come and go and tell our Oga in the office".
grin grin grin

I told someone my experience, and he is saying Federal law and all that.

Didn't he think I must have said that? Didn't he think that the hundreds coming to do this LASDRI must have said that and probably know that?

Amongst all traffic agencies, the VIO are the most organised, and they hardly, I mean hardly listen to the option of a bribe. I don't know if they reward them handsomely for catching an offender

we all know federal laws supercedes the states when there's a friction. The state laws becomes null and void
Okay that's true

I'll start telling them that when next I'm stopped

lol,if lasdri is dead, why is their office at Oshodi still operational? Why ask me to go there? They're are open everyday of The week. I mentioned my truck because it's a commercial vehicle with red plate no. Well it's no big deal getting one. It's a stipend of #3000k.
What I actually meant by "dead" is that the VIO who are the sole checkers of this rubbish were chased off the roads by Ambode. That's why I called it dead

But they are back this year.

And I asked you to go there so you will know the correct category for it. I just stated my experience. I have done LASDRI twice. Once in 2015 and 2017(Wasnt in Lagos throughout 2016)

Not 80% of uber cars. All uber cars provided u ply thru Lagos roads day and night
Lol

Most people on this thread are drivers. It wouldn't cost much to pull into a LASDRI office and make enquiries.

It's rather safe to be with a first hand info, than to be arguing with VIO officer while on a trip

Like a typical Nigerian politician u didn't answer the question..lolz

Thank God you said it by yourself that u were hustled.so I cant borrow my friend's car and travel to Lagos anymore? You panicked and they made money out of you.
You already have a drivers license issued by the federal republic of Nigeria, the highest authority, behind it it is clearly stated that you are licensed to drive a car other than a motorcycle or articulated vehicle.

I wont say more than that
Stop acting all defensive like I'm forcing you to buy my opinion. I only stated my experience. I didn't ask you to run immediately to do it

And if the bolded is your line of defense, then please, don't say anything more abeg

101% of people caught have their drivers license with them. LASDRI is a law by the Lagos State government. Your "Federal government" should have abolished it when they formed it naa grin

No vex abeg.
Define professional driver.
As long as you are not driving your personal car, you are considered a driver. All they need to check is the name on the drivers license and the name on the vehicle particulars.

When I was caught, I paid a fine of 20,000 to Fidelity Bank. This was years back. That's my experience

After then, I did my first one at Oshodi(Next compound to LASTMA office). I paid 2k at the Ecobank opposite LASTMA.They even asked for tax receipt(i can't remember how I dodged that) . And I spent about 6 hours to get it. They will take you through some stupid talks about how to behave as a driver, road sign talks and all that just to justify the loot they are collecting. As at the last time I did it, it was 3k. I paid to one fat lady at the door and got my LASDRI in paper(no longer plastic)

Why I type all these is because I was once caught, and I have done it twice. I'm typing from my experience. I haven't come here to argue

Maybe I was hustled or not, but what I know is the Officer who stopped me told me that as long as the name on the vehicle particulars is not the same with the drivers license, you are considered a driver

And we both know 80% of uber cars fall into this category

How can LASDRI start 2015 when I did my first ever march 2014?.
LASDRI is basically meant for commercial /car hire drivers, motor cycles riders, company/corporate drivers etc.
Maybe I was wrong. It started in 2014. No vex sad

And I said its for professional drivers.

I've been issued lasdrii for the past 3years for my light truck, and know what's its for. I made enquiries. it's possible you were hustled.this is Lagos bro.get your facts right.its for company drivers and commercial vehicles
LASDRI is for drivers, and not vehicles. I don't understand what you mean by the bolded

LASDRI is for professional drivers. That's the purpose. And according to them, you'll be regarded a driver as long as you don't own the car(If the name on your drivers license is different from the name on the vehicle particulars)

Maybe I was hustled, and maybe you're right. But like I suggested, go to their office and make enquiries.

And besides, LASDRI died in 2017 after Ambode kicked them out of the road. I don't understand what you mean by "issued in the past three years"

untrue. its meant only for company drivers and commercial vehicles. not private vehicles
Before Ambode sent them to oblivion grin, I have done LASDRI twice and I have never driven for a company, or a commercial vehicle. LASDRI started in 2015

Anyways, if you doubt, you could drive into their office at Oshodi to confirm whenever you're around.

I know wetin i dey talk cool

As long as rider sit behind you when vio stop you. Lasdri is required.
No sir. grin

As long as you don't own the car, it will be required. If you like, lap the rider with you on your drivers seat.

Good morning people. I'm at MM Airport, and there are about 30 drivers on queue. Any suggestions where I can go?
No flight will be coming in till the next hour. Get out from that place

Your target should be residential areas. Go to Mende, Kudirat Abiola, Ojota or Ogudu. You should get a trip there

Always target residential areas by this time on weekdays

Is LASDRI card required for uber drivers? I'm asking since VIO has returned to Lagos roads yesterday and they have become more powerful.
As long as the name on the Vehicle particulars is different from the name on the drivers license, a LASDRI will be required

Whether blue plate or red plate smiley
