TravelRe: Travelling To Canada-part2 by J20: 12:22pm On Mar 26, 2012
bamshy: In my opinion, 1mm is just about $7k and may not attract suspicion if it's about 20-25% of the account balance unlike when it's 50% or more. Reading this thread for a long time, i have seen people whom the embassy would ask to come with another bank statement 3 months after application. The visa officers seem to do this to confirm if that lump sum has been returned back to the owner or it's truly meant for your studies.
Thank you so much. I have asked my mum to go ahead with the transfer.

naijasexy: I do not think the embassy is as rigid as one might think. Usually they do not probe that deeply about the source of money. A sudden transfer if 1M into the account should not stir up suspicion of any kind.
Thanks a lot. You have been very helpful with my queries/concerns here. I deeply appreciate that.
If only UNB has finalised my admission, it would have been all smooth sailing with your help.
TravelRe: Going Ghana Tomorrow, Passport? by J20: 6:13am On Mar 24, 2012
If you go with your passport and show Immigration at point of entry, they will stamp it. They do demand some money though and the amount varies depending on your negotiation powers. It used to be about 2k in total, you pay a token at each of the 3 borders between Naija and Ghana.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada-part2 by J20: 5:43am On Mar 24, 2012
I keep wondering if paying in lump sum into one's account won't attract questions from the embassy officials. Like paying in N1m 2 months before application. Do you have to explain the source.

naijasexy: 1) Submission of the statement of just one (the more active one) account should do.

2) It is definitely alright. Four months should be sufficient. I would say this though: The one thing that might delay your visa processing is if you are less than nineteen as that is the legal age in New Brunswick. You would need a custodian so make sure you make arrangements for that (if you are less than nineteen) before you submit your visa application. The custodian must live in the city you would be schooling in New Brunswick. If you do not have a custodian, you might be denied visa.

3) Are you the one applying to UNB? If so, it would take you about 1- 2 months to get the admission letter.

4) It is not mandatory but it is advisable to do so, not because it might affect your chances of getting a visa but mainly because you need to secure you accommodation in Residence as quick as possible because of the limited rooms available. Again if you are applying to UNB, your admission letter would be accompanied by a form that you would fill out. This form basically asks you if you want to live in residence or not. You would return this form once it has been filled and send it to the school along with your deposit (about $300) and this would likely be done before you send your application to the embassy.

Hope I helped. smiley
You have helped a great deal.
I am still waiting for the admission letter from UNB; the message is that a decision is yet to be taken. But I do have admission from Manitoba which I may go ahead with if I don't get any positive response from UNB by May.
I am aware of the custodian stuff, UManitoba promised to arrange that for me after payment of deposit and I hope UNB will do the same.

olaremy2k: if she is sponsoring u with just an account, then she neednt give u morethan 1 statement of account.what matter is just make sure the account is ok,also, applying to d embassy shouldnt be lessthan 4months to school resumbtion, calculate that urself when ure planning on visa application.if the school instruct u to pay for a deposit of a particular amount before u get admission letter,do so,if not,do not pay for any fees, including school fees, accommodation and all except the embassy instruct u to do so.getting admission letter lies in u,as soon as u meet up d school requirement,u'll be sent admission letter as soon as possible, and lastly, make sure ure contacting d admission officer for any related school information u need, because different school with different policy.......
Thanks for your help.
I appreciate.

Please I need clarification on some issues:-

1. My mum is building up her account as advised by some good people here. She wants to transfer about 1m from her savings account to her current account (different banks). Does she need to submit 4 months statement of both accounts to the embassy? Or should she just explain the transfer in writing to the embassy?

2. Is applying for visa by first week of August alright for my Jan 3 admission?

3. After paying the deposit required by the school, how long does it take to get the admission letter that one needs to take to the embassy? I inten to pay the deposit by June ending and submit my visa package first week in August. Am I on course?

4. Do I need to book and pay for deposit for accommodation before starting the visa process?

Please respond to my queries! Thanks.

^^You chose Fredricton but they would probably take you to Saint John, that's where they take most International students these days.
Since you have submitted your resume, then no need for me to go asking. I guess you'd be fine. You'd definitely get admitted so that's not an issue AT ALL.
Okay, first of all your mum's statement of account has to show that there has been cash flow in and out of the account so that the consular officials dont suspect foul play. Secondly, Just make sure she has at least the tuition for one year and money for living expenses in the account. You should be fine with that.

I stated earlier that NB is good for studying and nice jobs while schooling BUT I would not remain here after my schooling. I would move to a bigger province like Ontario.
Amen! I am believing God for the admission.
I actually chose Fredricton because of my course of study, St John only runs 2 years of Chem Eng and one has to do the remaining 2 years in Fredricton. My mum said no need to be moving around campuses. Anyway St John is cheaper.
Its her salary account so there is always cash flow, I just pray I make it to Canada. Its my dream.

I appreciate your contributions on this thread and its really nice to have someone in UNB who I can always ask questions. I will let you know how the admission process goes.

I am in New Brunswick.
Hehehe! That is the school I attend luckily for you. I would go to admissions on Monday and ask them if you actually need to send a resume because I do not remember sending one myself when I applied. What campus do you wanna come to? The Fredricton or the Saint John campus?
Wow!
Thats good to know. I choose Fredricton.
I will appreciate any help you can give me on the resume stuff though I sent one already.

How is the employment opportunity in New Brunswick?
Also any idea of the amount my mum have in her account for the visa process?
Someone advised that my mum pays the exact money for tuition + living expenses into my account, do you think this will make any difference?

princesyeed:
@J20 ve u recf any message from university of New brunswick.
I received a message in my mail box that my application has been updated and I logged in and checked. The resume I submitted via email has been received and its pending review.

naijasexy:
What university did you apply to if I may ask? An application for undergraduate studies should not prompt any demands for resumes at all. I would suggest you send them an email so that you could be clear as to what they really want. Yes, universities in Canada require High-school transcripts for admission processing. You would have to get that from your high- school. You MUST send that along with your WAEC result and also a scratch card.
University of New Brunswick.
I just prepared a resume, included my Statement of Purpose at the bottom and laoded it on my application page. I hope that does it.
I sent my High School transcript and WAEC result with a scratch card to them via courier.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada-part2 by J20: 11:23am On Mar 07, 2012
I need assistance o!
Another Uni I applied for Undergrad studies is asking me to send a resume, is this is regular resume used for employment purpose?

They also asked me to send my High School transcript to them by mail. I want to send my WAEC result as well but I am thinking of sending the WAEC print out and a scratch card and also the SS1-SS3 transcript from my school.

I have to confess that this admission process is not easy.

I will tell my mum to see about getting more funds into her account; if she is unable to do that we have to submit like that and take our chances. I have an absentee dad so I don't want to stress my mum too much.

@j20,yes,u should look 4 another sponsor.Or better still, put more funds in ur mums account. When is ur start date?
Start date is 30th August.
Getting more funds may not be so easy. Can my mum's friend be a co-sponsor?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada-part2 by J20: 2:20pm On Mar 01, 2012
I need advice from those who know.
An agent said my sponsor (my mum) should have at least N5m in her account meanwhile the tuition+living expenses is about N3.5m. My mum has only about N4m in her account. Should we look for additional sponsor?

Please help, I intend to start the visa application next week. I am going for my undergraduate programme.

Please advise me on the English Test should I take for my admission into an undergraduate program in Canada. I want the one that is cheap, easy to pass and accepted in Canada.

Apart from this English Language test, what other documents should I start sorting out while I wait for my admission to be through?

I intend to study Petroleum Engineering in Canada (Bachelor degree) and I went to a consultant who suggest SAIT, a polytechnic. I have been wondering if there is any major difference/discrimination between degrees from Universities and Polytechnics? Should I want to proceed for my Masters after a degree from SAIT, will it sail through?

EducationRe: Uniben 2011/2012 Utme/direct Entry Admission by J20: 2:47pm On Oct 21, 2011
I doubt if anyone will be able to fill out the eligibility form correctly right now because year 2011 is not included in the exam date so it is not possible to even select 2011 UTME. I believe the site is still being worked on and as they stated, candidates will be informed when clearance commences.
However, the results for admitted candidates are now on the JAMB site.
