Top1gun: I will do you a lil favour, starting from. His 3rd paragraph he stated "yes quite alright some Igbos commit crimes in your country especially when it comes to dealing with drugs etc".
In his own exact word needless to say nearly every tribe with a sizable population will have it own bad eggs. What he refused to hightligh is as many Igbos with legit biz in SA so do the Yorubas. Now, you are oblivious he painted Igbos in good imagine while leaving out the Yorubas. Such narratives abound on NL with Igbos castigating every politician good or bad from any other tribe in Nigeria while it's a taboo to castigated Igbo criminal politicians who are responsible for the poor development of their region. Note every Nigerian politician from A - Z are failures with no exception of anyone.
His 4th paragraph, the Igbos are never the commercial nerves of Nigeria and will never be. All of that is self hype from his fellow Igbos. Lagos State the commercial nerve center of Nigeria is a Yoruba state that does not border any Igbo State. That is followed with Ogun state that brings in the highest FDI into the country. Now he can go on about how Igbos came in multitude to scavenge in Lagos then turn miraculously to claim they developed the state n the locals are lazy n are touts etc. I leave you to decipher that narrative as it is already being played out there in SA too. The Igbo tribe is the singular tribe that goes about tagging others as lazy in their own land.
5th - There are prominent n enviable Igbos no doubt, so also we have from each tribe even from the smaller tribe like Efik n Ijaws. What you don't see is those tribes brandishing their scholars in face of anyone. Only the Igbos do that n if you see any tribe countering that it is the Yorubas cos they have proven to have more renowned scholars but for sake of debate equal amount but definitely not less in every sphere of endeavor. The same goes for football, I won't dabble into the politics of Nigeria football not to derail my response.
He talked about ritual killings in Yoruba region, I am Yoruba n yes there are lot of such killings but you can as well query him if there are less of such killings in Igboland. You see the fact of this discus is easy to decipher, just read btw the lines n make your own assertions.
In every 100 Igbos n Yorubas even when they try hiding their original motives their approach, behavior or feelings will fail them. That is what you need to draw your conclusion. You should let me know if you ever meet a Yoruba that tag South Africans lazy n I am not talking fake monikers on NL but a real human in South Africa. I'm just playing the devil's advocate when it comes to this Igbo vs Yoruba thing. And as far as the bolded is concerned - I wouldn't know who's who,my guy.All I know is that Nigerians love to invade already developed societies and call the indigenous people lazy, something that I always thought was very funny lol. |

EzeAro: Not a swipe but a realistic perception many Africans have about your people, just the same way you're inclined to think every Nigerian committing a crime in your country is Igbo. Even though there have been documented cases of other Africans who commit crimes in your country using Nigerian names, as we are the easier target groups for your insane xenophobic attacks. The only other major threat as far as I know, that Igbos pose to your country is the simple fact that South African women tend to gravitate more towards them for reasons best known to them (I've seen a lot of SA women degrade their men, and elicit animosities from those men towards Nigerians for taking their women and all that preposterous excuses they use for xenophobia). And I couldn't give two fuvks if you think I was bragging, seeing as you have taking a clearly biased take/stand on the whole discourse without intelligently preening all the facts I gave you...i had to be ruthless with my submissions (take it however way you want!). It should comfort you to know that South Africans cannot tell Nigerians apart based on ethnic or tribal identification. Those are YOUR internal issues that most of us will be more than happy if we didn't get our asses dragged into.So if you guys wanna tribalise crime then that's all on you,but the rest of the world doesn't care. When a Nigerian criminal is caught in whatever crime he was committing, and they check his passport, what they see is 'Nigerian citizen' ,not Yoruba, not Igbo, not all that stupid tribal bigotry nonsense. |

EzeAro: Mr South African, I noticed an interesting exchange you had with some daft Yoruba fellow... and here's my take based on REALITY. Firstly, I don't like to call out a whole demography of people based on stereotypes and image laundering, cause it only projects the dangers of a one sided story. It's just like the typical ignorant categorizations you more often than not hear from racist white America... you know the usual depictions of black/African Americans as deadbeats, crack head /dope selling misfits, or welfare dependent lazy thugs, violent people, uneducated etc... now those are familiar stereotypes that most white and a section of non-black privileged ethnic/racial groups in America have towards people of color. They don't focus on the positives of blacks in America, like the improving academic index from high school to college level of young educated black men and women, the presence of a strong family structure in the black community as opposed to the deadbeat dad and baby mama scenarios, they don't focus on buoyancy of the thriving middle class structure of Africans/African Americans etc all these are all institutionalized issues pervading America, with systemic racism and racial profiling been the underlying problems.
Now what I'm I getting at? I noticed in your earlier conversations with a worthless and dishonest bigot of Yoruba origin who sold to you the narrative of Igbos been the criminals in Nigeria etc, and you of course in your palpable ignorance and lack of context to the actual facts... pandered to his narratives. Now I won't descend so low as to tag all black South Africans as lazy drug sniffing losers who rape incessantly and spread HIV/Aids around like a Greek gift, cause that would sound incredibly ignorant and fallacious... cause I know there are many smart & industrious, and educated black South Africans doing very well globally.
What that Yoruba idiot didn't tell you however is that, yes quite alright some Igbos commit crimes in your country especially when it comes to dealing with drugs etc... but there are also SO MANY more Igbos who have decent businesses in South Africa, are law abiding tax paying citizens of the country, are happily married to the women, and have integrated just fine with the people. You remember the story of that rabid Nigerian pastor in South Africa who was arrested and charged for some of the most scandalous acts ranging from sodomy and rape of his church members? I'm sure the news was a major breaking headline in your national TV stations and papers... well that Nigerian pastor so happened to be Yoruba.
That Yoruba idiot didn't also tell you that Igbos have contributed so much to the global face-lift of Nigeria on a positive scale. Igbos are easily known to be the commercial nerves of Nigeria, Igbos are literally in every nook and cranny of Nigeria contributing to the growth index of their immediate host communities. There has been no single records of Igbos violently clashing with their host communities in any part of Nigeria (often times the reverse is the case, and unprovoked for that matter). That Yoruba idiot didn't tell you that Igbos are produced some of the best literature minds in Africa, I'm sure names like Chimamanda Adichie, Chinua Achebe, Cyprian Ekwensi, Buchi Emecheta, Christopher Okigbo etc are somewhat familiar to you? At least you should know one or two names from that list, they are Igbos.
That Yoruba idiot didn't tell you that some of the best economists/business tycoons in Nigeria and Africa are Igbos... Madam Ngozi Okonjo Iweala whom your president selected as a member of his economic advisory committee to tackle your recession issues some months ago? she's a well decorated economist of world class pedigree, best in Nigeria per her CV alone... she's Igbo. And there are many more like her who moulded themselves among the best business minds in Africa that are also Igbos (Emeka Anyaocha, Tony Elumelu, Pius Okigbo, Arunma Oteh etc).
That Yoruba idiot didn't tell you also, that the best football legends in Nigeria have mostly been Igbos... legends you know like Kanu Nwankwo, JJ Okocha, Amunike, Oliseh, Mikel Obi, Stephen Keshi etc.
Like I could go on and on, but to add one thing. That Yoruba idiot didn't tell you that his people (the Yorubas), are currently the title holders for some of the most savage ritual killings going on in Nigeria today. His people (the Yorubas) populate UK and US prisons for all sorts of crimes ranging from cyber frauds, rape and arson, even even terrorism (two Yoruba siblings committed the first acts of terrorism on UK soil some few years back). That Yoruba idiot also didn't tell you that, in the annals of Nigerian history, the most notorious armed robbers produced in the post civil war era were mostly from his tribe.
When next you want to understand the dynamics of ethnic hate in Nigeria dating as far as possible, take a more neutral approach and actually learn our history of hate from a less bigoted individual who will be more honest about facts. @ nisai, your assertions are being picked apart.Got any winning cards up your sleeves?

TMKsouth: I hardly ever see Nigerian organisations speak out again crime and their own people in SA. But they are very quick to cry about police brutality and xenophobia. They call crime 'hustling spirit' ,so it's normal in Nigeria. Why do you think they see it as jealousy when their host nations call it what it is? |

TMKsouth: True.
I guess we're all tired of illegal migration and criminality, but yes some of our tribes are more brutal than others with the attacks. We wouldn't be here if foreigners who are making a honest living in SA through legal means spoke out against their bad apples and condemned their behaviour. Now in the eye of South Africans, everyone is guilty by nationality until proven innocent. |

proeast: Stop being ridiculous, hurt over what exactly?
I'm not making excuses for irresponsible Nigerian rulers that couldn't turn our potentials into something great. However, it is akin to a kettle calling pot black because you guys are not in anyway as good as you make it seem.
These pictures you posted doesn't impress me one bit because we equally have similar places in Nigeria. A new island has been created off the coast of Lagos that has all these in abundance as well as in places like Abuja (Maitama) and Lagos (Victoria Island and Ikoyi).
There are more Indian, Russian and Pakistani fraudsters in USA than there are Nigerians and that's a fact.
SA has the worst crime rate in Africa and among the highest in the world, is it Nigerians that are responsible for it?
SA has the worst HIV/AIDS prevalence in the world, is it Nigerians that are responsible for it?
What about your high inequality rates, unemployment and xenophobia, is it Nigerians that are responsible for it?
Lol, begging for SA visa? You must be kidding me! I didn't jump at American visa when it was given to me on a platter then it's SA I will want to travel to? Even if you give me a free visa and flight ticket to SA, I won't even bother myself. I said what I said, and I stand by what I said. Pick your struggle and stop taking a pill for our headache. |

proeast: Lol, they have such disgusting places in their so-called "paradise" yet they were busy running their mouths on how terrible Nigeria and its people are yet the op was even indulging them!?
If you are following these self righteous guys making it look like SA is the best thing since slice bread, you will just miss road. Talk about classic hypocrisy!
The truth which you guys are ignorant of or chose not to accept is the fact that the only reason you attract bad Nigerians is because your people are equally terrible, if not worse. In the US, Nigerians are among the best immigrants and are high flyers in many noble professions while those your country can attract are the bad eggs that are coming there basically because their is a huge market for them.
Accept it, if the Whites were still in control, SA would have gone far but since it was left in your hands, it deteriorated so badly that power cuts has now become common, bad roads, filth, slum settlements, high unemployment, xenophobia etc. Unlike Rwanda that built their country from the scratch to what it's now.
No one is hating on SA but the truth is that you guys are naturally lazy to build on the structure that was handed over to you. Someone's really hurt lol We never tried to paint South Africa as the "best thing since sliced bread" but the fact that you guys are literally begging for SA visas & will risk your lives trying to enter into a country you deem xenophobic kind of makes us think SA is like heaven to you. So if South Africans are terrible people then it means you can use that as an excuse for your natural uncouth behaviour in foreign lands? was it not in the same US where 80 Nigerians were caught committing 419 crimes? Whites were in charge just like they were in all of Africa,so that does not fly as a reason why you are still backward. Not everything was handed. Here are the developments that took place in recent years. 60 years of independence, and what have you achieved besides cheap talk and less action?...zilch

IronGalaxy: imagine! We would begin to celebrate the construction of useless infrastructure like windmills and stuff.Ever notice how Nigerians celebrate the building of the most basic of infrastructure? Like a corner store for example you'll find them saying stuff like " baba is working!" I'm like what the Bleep!? This is a country starving for development but you'll find them saying we are jealous of them. Delusions And the 1900s steam trains no other country is using today.Lord forbid... |
