You don't understand, the country is I don't want to use a bad word. The booklets and visas are being produced in Malaysia. NIS doesnt, they only add the numbers on the pages and people's details.

So NIS can't tamper with the number of pages. One time, like two years ago FG was owing the supplier. There were no visas in the whole of embassies in the EU. Visa applicants do suffer this too.

Because of greed, they refused to be producing the booklets and visas in the country.

So bad ...

No...I didn't...but I don't believe all those guys applied for 64 pages.....lol, it's unbelievable

Most of those picking up their passport at Alausa Office applied for 64pages 5Years passport. I took my time to observe that when i went there with my wife for her capturing. If you applied for 32pages passport, you might need to wait for a little while.

I guess you're right.....but it's the same material that they'll use for all passports....so, I wonder why they don't treat applicants that apply for 32 pages seriously..... ain't fair at all.

Did you ask when you should come back? If not go back drop your slip in the collection room, if possible meet that woman sitting beside that long shelf where they use to pack the passport from, she might ask of your name and help you check. Also most times reason why they might tell you your passport is not available is maybe if your name comes before your surname (order of arrangement) they will just tell you that it's not ready because they normally arrange the passport in batches by name order (surname first)

I don't have any issues with name arrangement.

Yesterday, I actually submitted my collection slip to the officers that came to make anouncement with microphone. They came back few minutes after and called a long list of names of those whose passports are ready. I didn't hear my name. So I waited. Then they brought out some collection slips...and that's for those whose passports are not ready.

I'll just have to go there but maybe not as early as usual....so that I can walk straight to the collection office as you have said. Thanks.

Yesterday, I went to Alausa passport office for collection...but was told it isn't ready yet.
Did my interview on Monday 25th January.....was captured on 4th February.
My collection date is 9th January.

Should I give them more time or send a tweet or email to their head quarters?.......cos those guys are not sincere at all.....a lot of people got their passport yesterday.... although I don't know how long they've been waiting for it

Well, I can't really say. The collection date on my confirmation slip is 9th February. But since I was traveling before then, I went for collection a day before my collection date. When I got there, I was told that it isn't ready. And then I traveled.

To cut the story short, I don't know if my passport is ready. But it's SUPPOSED to be ready by the time I go there again.

I don't know how true that claim of no 32pages 5years is but I remember vividly that was the same story those errand boy immigration officers were telling me when I wanted to do mine last year; advocating I opt for the 64pages one. I believe it is a marketing gimmick of some sort to fleece unsuspecting people of more money.

One thing about me is that I am very thorough, I don't like stupid/avoidable mistakes so I spend hours making sure I get something right. That said, that's the email address I sent to. And when I didn't get any reply, i sent to another on the website just to be sure I didn't make mistake the first time.

I just want to let those doubting that not everyone rushes to twitter, some people actually do research first before doing stuff.

Hmm...this is really serious.....does that mean I was lucky to have gotten a response from them when I contacted them?

In my NIN the name I used in registering was e.g Kolawole Chukwuma.... My last name was omitted .... I hope it will not be a problem when applying for a fresh passport....(Names where spelled correctly).

The name on your NIN must be the same as the name on your passport. Otherwise, there'll be an issue.

Who ommited the last name? You or NIMC?

I sent a mail regarding my passport and until today no reply. Their numbers also didn't go through only the visa number went through and the person was rude. Had to open a twitter handle because of my case and tweet at them (so many times), still no response. Stop looking for who to blame. I have tried it and none worked. Tufiakwa.

Can I use sworn affidavit for the birth cirtificate? Also, the state of origin certificate; what I have is local govt of origin cert, can I use that?

Birth Certificate (certificate issued by the National Population Commission shall be required from applicants whose date of birth is with effect from Dec 1992) or Age Declaration attached with one passport-sized photograph and duly endorsed by a Commissioner for Oaths.

Yeah....local government of origin is the same as certificate of origin

I met an agent that told me to pay 40k for a 32-page(5 yrs) passport.

Please don't waste your money by applying through any agent. You can do the application yourself. It's very easy.



FOR FRESH PASSPORT APPLICATION

1. Click on https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/passport/epassport
2. Select "Standard ePassport" option, your country name and click "Start application"
3. Supply your biodata info and printout the "Application form" when you are done (you can save first in a PDF format for later printout)
4. Proceed to payment.
I used SAANA PAY as my payment platform and I paid #25,500 in the bank. You have an option to make ONLINE PAYMENT of #26,000 plus #1000 for charges.
When you are done, printout both the "Acknowledgement slip" and "Payment slip" respectively"
5. Generate your guarantor's form by clicking on
https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/passport/passportGuarantor
and supply both your reference number and application Id as stated in the printouts above. Anybody with a valid passport and driver's licence/NiN slip can be your guarantor. Give the form to the person to fill and then take it to a high court for endorsement/signing.


Note: Atleast one of the 3 printouts will carry your interview date. The day to go to your selected passport office with the below documents. Though you can also go before or after the stated date.
Documents to go along with to the Passport office
1. NIN slip (1 copy)
2. State of Origin certificate (1 copy,)
3. Birth certificate (1 copy)
4. 2 passport photos
5. Application form (1 copy)
6. Acknowledgement slip (1 copy)
7. Payment slip (2 copies)
8. Guarantor form (1 copy). A passport photo (names written at the back and duly signed) of the guarantor. A copy of the guarantor's passport data page and NIN slip/driver's license.
9. A white file (cost #50 or #100) and its hook (#50). You can get this at the passport office.
Note: Go along with all your own originals for verification sake.

Capturing Stage:

You will be rightly directed for this stage after finishing the "verification stage" above.
Note: When you are done capturing, a printout will be given to you which contains your passport's collection date...... although I was asked to come for capturing a week after my interview at Alausa passport office.

When I missed my schedule for interview, I sent an email to them. And they rescheduled my interview and the new date reflected on my application portal.

They are quite helpful, based on my communication with them through email..... only that you have to be patient for their response....

I did my capturing yesterday (Thursday)....cos I've been very busy at work.
I was given my confirmation slip and on it, my collection date is 9th February 2021....which is just approx. 5 days after my capturing date. I believe it's very close and I doubted the feasibility of collecting it on that day. So I went straight to Miss Chioma to know if it's actually possible for me to get my passport on that day....I also told her that I need it urgently....then she told me to disregard the date. And asked me the passport type I applied for.....I told her it was 32 pages, 5 years. And she said there's no material available it.......as if I would have gotten it immediately if I had applied for 64 pages.....I almost regretted not applying for 64 pages.....then I remembered that I can always renew it after expiration.

So I told her I'll keep checking....then she said if my passport is ready I'll be informed.... since I applied online.

Hoping for a positive outcome...

I just left the Abeokuta Immigration office now. I was told there was no booklets even for parole. I was told to go to Lagos.
I wonder what they are doing in the building if they can't produce passports for citizens.
I think they are just hoarding the few left for VIPs.

it's quite unfortunate for me to be a Nigerian, once I find my way out of this shit hole, nothing is making me come back to live in there.

I couldn't get my passport from Ibadan passport office since 4th of November 2020 after paying #28000 instead of the normal #17000. Because I was desperate to get it as soon as possible. I needed it to apply for a scholarship program which was going to close on 24th of January 2021.
After all my plead to allow me to see the PCO may be he can be of help. The useless officers at his office didn't allow me
I made a complaint via the NIS twitter account, the next thing is for them to block me for making a complaint

I tried to complain on their twitter account, but I was blocked and not attended to.
I went to their office several times but nothing happened.
I tried to see the PCO, but the officers in his office won't allow me to see him.
it's quite a frustrating experience.
