1st Attempt – Lagos, (December 1- surge date) MTSU
2nd Attempt - Abuja (9th March) MTSU.

After my first delay, I was disappointed and this is because I’ve been to the US couple of times and had two kids in between in the US. However, the Lagos VO wasn’t even interested in my I20 but more about my kids and my sister who was supposed to be in the US at the time but was in Nigeria trying to renew her F1 visa.

Anyway to the transcript proper, (questions in no particular order)

VO: Have you been to the US before? I see you are going to MTSU
Me: yes
VO: how many times and what did you go for?
Me: thrice, holiday with family and other times to have my babies
VO: So you have 2 America Citizens? Any other children
Me: yes, 2 citizens and no other child
VO: I see you are going to MTSU. What course and why?
VO: IT project management. I choose the course because while I was considering a career change and looking for a degree to empower my transition and offer me new and better opportunities, it came top on the list.
VO: Tell your study plan?
Me: for the successful completion of my course, I’m required to complete 30 credit semester with 2 years. I’ll be taking courses like IT project risk & recovery, IT planning & implementation, IT project strategies for success, applied business analytics, big data analytics amongst others (she was nodding and actively listening).
VO: why did you pick MTSU?
Me: I picked MTSU over my other admits because my graduate coordinator assured I could cope despite not having an IT background and most especially because I got 23% off my COA.
VO: How did you get it (scholarship)?
Me: well my school has merit scholarship for international students which is dependent on your GPA evaluation. In my case, I had 3.64/4.0 hence why I got it.
VO: Where did you do your bachelors and course?
Me: I graduated from xxxx University here in Nigeria and studied Tourism management.
VO: So what did you do in the UK?
Me: Well I had a master’s degree there in 2013 and I have since returned back to Nigeria.
VO: (still nodding) So you don’t intend to work in US?
Me: Not at all.
VO: So where do you work?
Me: I work at a federal government instruction and I intend to transfer from there to Galaxy Backbone Limited to take up the role of an IT project manager upon return to Nigeria.
VO: So this will be your second master’s degree.
Me: Yes, it will.
VO: Are you married?
Me: yes, I am married
VO: Will your husband and be going with you?
Me: No he won’t.
VO: I see you have a sister in the US, where does she live and school.
Me: She schools at Campbellsville University. (she interrupted, what location is that?) I replied oh it’s in Kentucky.
VO: Oh I see you had an interview in Lagos.
Me: I had an interview but I couldn’t get my visa so I deferred from spring 2022 to fall 2022.
VO: Ok ….. (she typed and typed, erased somethings too).
VO: I’ll be recommending you for the visa, take this white paper, it will tell you how to pick up at the VI location. Also kindly go with your I20, you’ll be needing it at the POE as its very important.
Me: thank you, thank you, thank you very much (with smiles).
VO: Its ok….(she smiled).

Things to note……
1. Oh my God, I prayed ehen because I was disappointed in Lagos as it was also my birth month and I got such a news on the first day of the month.
2. I immediately paid another visa fee same day but didn’t check for a date until January 2022.
3. I initially picked April 7 only to get a mail from the embassy that my appointment had been moved from April 7 to March 9. I got the notice 5 days prior to my interview date.
4. In answering why I was refused a visa in my DS160, I explained my ties back home as the reason why I can’t be going for long (I figured she was reading through them).
5. No documents was requested.

The food I'll be missing when I become rich. It may look as though it is not possible but that is what I ate today. It is not actually the first time though. I couldn't afford Garri and soup, so I made do with the available. It is nothing but a survival strategy. I'm suffering today which is why I'm eating it out of no option. I'm sure many rich people we have today ate things worst than this before their breakthrough and today they may look at it like they were eating poison. I'll miss this food combo (beans and fufu) after my encounter with breakthrough in the nearest future. So help me God, Amen.

Omo, I laff tire for this thread oo. Mr "you dey do it the normal, normal way" at Ilorin NIS center, how market ooo? You know what? I burst into laughter when I read that part.

I also sight the person who said what if someone gets the 10 year passport but only keep using the darn thing for verifications upanddan for 10 years straight? That cracked me up too. But jokingly-honest, that's an achievement too!

Onto the person who said he/she saw devil walking with two legs at one of our dear Nigerian passport offices, no be juju be dhat?

For those asking about how to start the entire passport process (I mean from scratch, scratch), don't be lazy. Read a couple of pages back. Even if you couldn't start reading from page 250 just as I did, read at least 20 to 50 pages backward.

Please I still need guarantor oo. Don't ask me to ask FAF. I have someone close to me but his passport had expired. So if anyone can help me "guarantor" my application, I'd be grateful. I'll even appreciate you with a token.

Please Ajiswaggs, Guru9ja, Akinwumi10, Don1985, shawnmich, Don1985, MzEmeritus, and sheyhoon, how was your experience at Osogbo immigration office. That's my to-be processing center.

Sorry for the mention guys if that upsets you.

Hopefully one day, we wouldn't hear "normal, normal way" at our immigration offices, see devil with two legs walking in those centers, and the like.

I have not been sleeping well since January because of the passport issue. I have an European Union schorlarship at stake. I have been begging this white people since January to give me more time to sort things out, yet the unfortunate Ibadan passport office has refused to provide my passport despite capturing since 4th of November 2020. It's almost 6month now.

Please don't waste your money by applying through any agent. You can do the application yourself. It's very easy.



FOR FRESH PASSPORT APPLICATION

1. Click on https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/passport/epassport
2. Select "Standard ePassport" option, your country name and click "Start application"
3. Supply your biodata info and printout the "Application form" when you are done (you can save first in a PDF format for later printout)
4. Proceed to payment.
I used SAANA PAY as my payment platform and I paid #25,500 in the bank. You have an option to make ONLINE PAYMENT of #26,000 plus #1000 for charges.
When you are done, printout both the "Acknowledgement slip" and "Payment slip" respectively"
5. Generate your guarantor's form by clicking on
https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/passport/passportGuarantor
and supply both your reference number and application Id as stated in the printouts above. Anybody with a valid passport and driver's licence/NiN slip can be your guarantor. Give the form to the person to fill and then take it to a high court for endorsement/signing.


Note: Atleast one of the 3 printouts will carry your interview date. The day to go to your selected passport office with the below documents. Though you can also go before or after the stated date.
Documents to go along with to the Passport office
1. NIN slip (1 copy)
2. State of Origin certificate (1 copy,)
3. Birth certificate (1 copy)
4. 2 passport photos
5. Application form (1 copy)
6. Acknowledgement slip (1 copy)
7. Payment slip (2 copies)
8. Guarantor form (1 copy). A passport photo (names written at the back and duly signed) of the guarantor. A copy of the guarantor's passport data page and NIN slip/driver's license.
9. A white file (cost #50 or #100) and its hook (#50). You can get this at the passport office.
Note: Go along with all your own originals for verification sake.

Capturing Stage:

You will be rightly directed for this stage after finishing the "verification stage" above.
Note: When you are done capturing, a printout will be given to you which contains your passport's collection date...... although I was asked to come for capturing a week after my interview at Alausa passport office.
