Nobody prescribes drugs here.We'r not drs but mothers.I don't think mothers wil com here&post wot didn't work 4dem.If u read well,u'l notice wher ppl say 'my paediatrician prescribed or said dis.Its left 4u 2visit ur own paediatrician or u use ur discretion.We learn evryday,not just frm books or google;we also learn frm other ppl's experiences&discussions.

Wen I went 4immunization,d nurses were teachin us how 2use silverbird&methylator 4our babies.U boil hot water;pour in a bucket;add a cap full of silverbird;cover d baby's head wit towel&place d baby over d steam (4ova 10mins).The mucus wil dislodge&u suck out d mucus wit a mucus extractor (me,I'm a local eco chick.I use my mouth 2suck&spit out).Then u rub d methylator on d chest&d bridge of d nose.U can do dis 3xs a day.Sh said u can also giv Vit c drop 3xs a day.If symptoms persist esp accompanied wit cough,tak 2ur paediatrician but paeds prescrib only vit c 4 catarrh&tel u it'l stop on its own

Pls missmishel,doctors had advised mothers 2 stop using silver bird for their children especially on their fontanelle ( d soft spot on their head),I didn't know until last 2yrs when I gave birth 2 my 2nd child cos I used it 4 my 1st child,they confirmed that it was 2 strong 4 babies and it actually killed some babies.

Abeggi;Mayb somthng els killed those babies not silverbird.Our mothers apply silverbi2d baby's fontannelle&it hasn't done s**ts 2d ones I'v seen.

I'l advice u start wit local foods b4 jumpin 2tin foods.1st&foremost,u hav 2watch ur baby afta givin woteva 4d 1st few dayscos som babies purge&don't neglect d purgin part.Run 2d hospital.If u'r in Naija,mak pap urself or get somone neat enuf 2mak it wit millet&guinea corn.Its highly nutritious.Giv d pap wit milk alone for a whil&c if he/sh'l tolerates it then b addin soyabeans 2it 2geda wit d milk.Pls feed wit Cup/plate&plastic spoon.Also,woteva u'r eatin,b givin ur baby&add litll pepper 2ur food frm now on.Giv mashed potato,rice,fish,yam even start givin amala or semo wit draw soup now.Then if u'r 2kin 2giv tin food,u can try cerelac.They hav products 4diff ages.My baby didn't tolerate cerelac&frisocream.It made her purge then d paed recommended a lot of foreign foods lik cow&gate;Heinz;Milopa;purity&so on whch ar damn smal&expensiv so its ur choice.Pls continue breastfeedin&also giv him baby milk wit feeder.Goodluck

Y not check wit ur paediatrician.Rotavirus is given at 6wks&10wks.I gav my baby pneumococcal vaccine at 6mths so ur paed wil direct u better.There'r som immunizations dat can b given beyond d tyms stated on d card but I don't knw abt Rotavirus

B4 Critics wil start.I'm just givin my own opinion on wot worked 4me o.I used Ibuprofen cos d pain was so much dat paracetamol cudn't knock it off.Inshort d pain wil discourage u frm stoppin at a tym.I tried stoppin at 11mths but d pain was so excruciatin dat I begged d baby 2keep suckin.Then wen I used ibuprofen,it was a stronger analgesic whch helped a lot.I didn't even notice wen d milk dried up on its own&u hav 2get a firm bra wit big strap&wear d bra vry tight.It'l hold d milk back.Tak less fluids 4d tym being.Goodluck dear

Eat lots of coleslaw.Use Myonnaise (bama butter) 4it.Its vry fattenin&d baby wil stil get vitamins frm d salad.U can also use d bama butter 4ur bread&indomie.Also Yoghurt wil mak u add weight too (atleast hollandia yoghurt did 4me).Kunu is good but it made me add mostly around d tommy&made ppl ask me whether I was pregnant again.U can stil tak it though.Goodluck dear

It is only in Nigeria dat negligence is tolerated frm drs&health professionals because no body sues their a**.My maternal anty did goitre surgery at a particular teachin hospital in Nigeria&they mistakenly cut off her vocal cord&sh cudn't breath without a tube&talk sef.Sh was flown 2UK 4reconstructiv surgery&i remember d drs there sayin a lot of s**ts abt Nigerian drs&Nigerian hospitals.D indian dr managin my anty's case said sh was their 1st case study;dat they'v neva seen anythng lik dat b4;such expensiv mistak comin frm a surgeon.If I tel u wot my anty went thru?Sh underwent abt 7 reconstructiv surgeries ova d yrs.Imagine d bills (in pounds as against naira)&d trauma&evryother thng,just because of d dr's mistak.My anty said d Nigerian surgeon was usin her 2 teach wen he opened her up.If its abroad,u can sue&recover d money u spent but here in Naija??U'r on ur own. Forget UK&Ireland.Common 2buy cough syrup 4myself,they asked 4prescription.Hmmm

Warfibabe: thanks but I am not new to the hydrocortisone cream.. As a matter of fact I have used the hydrocort cream before when my older son had severe rash due to allergies. It was prescribed by my paed. It cleared the rash in no time. I really don't know how strong it is cus I neva asked my paed. But my son seem fine with it, though like blank pointed out, I also use it sparingly. For nappy rash I have always used a small cream called vegas, or I just powder the spot with agnesia powder.

The baby has bn stooling for 3days and instead of seeking medical help,the lady prefered 2call mothers with newborn 2ask what 2give 2her child. A Moda asked 2giv Jelosi and flagyl or somthn like that sha. 2days after the baby was stl down n very pale dats whn she decided 2go 2 †ЂΞ hospital. Long story cut short, the child died. The cause of stooling was discovered to be Jaundice.
Lesson 2be learnt here is wha is wrong with ur child might not be same wth anoda child even if dey exhibit same symptom.we are all here 4 one anoda but pls let's try as much as possible not 2giv drug prescription.

FYI,hydrocortisone cream contains 1% hydrocort so its not as bad as u guys makin it sound&was prescribed by my paediatrician who's ova 20yrs in d field.Wen my little neice had Bronchitis,sh was takin hydrocortisone injection for abt 3days or so wit other drugs though recovered tremendously.Y did d paed use it if its as dangerous as cocaine or woteva u guys ar referrin it to.I don't hav 2mention how many health professionals dat I hav in my family&boo's families&also around me so wen I speak;I speak sound&confidently.Mshw

Sudocream doesn't work 4my baby too.I mix tribotan(#400);visitaplus(#200)&hydrocortisone cream (#300 or so) wit littl Ori (50naira).I mix it in a container&keep so weneva sh has d rash on her bum,I'l apply it&it disappears afta lik 2-3days.I use 2 visitaplus though&it last 4me&it works 4my baby
