Ayomikunkco:
I went in for my scan today and we were told we are expecting twins same placenta and sac(mono twins). The doctor said one is fine and the other has fluid around the neck and little fluid in the lungs(almost same weight ) and termed healthy* I do not want to say otherwise *. She said because they carry the same genes, they are likely to be both affected so she scheduled another scan for 2 weeks time to check for improvement in the affected twin.

Ayomikunkco:
And to check both babies at 16weeks for any abnormal chromosomes. If found, then, we may need to consider termination. I rejected it termination.

Ayomikunkco:
I’ve read a lot of people say they were told same while they birthed their babies being healthy and fine. I just need your prayers.

I will put u in prayers.

The thing I dislike about western medical practice is how they play God in everything & their decision making process for their patients.

In my own experience, they would have done the same to me.

At almost 30 weeks pregnant, I started having this severe abdominal pain. It wasn’t labour pain. It was this very painful tiny bump that appeared at the right side of uterus. It was so painful that I ended up in the Emergency room.

They ran every test & scan & found nothing. The dr said I had a tiny fibroid at the left side but it was too small to cause such intense pain. And what was weird is that they found the tiny supposed fibroid on the left side but I felt it on my right. It was strange.

I didn’t believe I had fibroid cos before my pregnancy, I did HSG, scan and so on & they didn’t find any fibroid in my uterus so where did this spiritual fibroid come from? And why now?

The dr was like the baby can come out now like thru CS but the chances of survival & other issues are high but she needed my consent to bring out the baby, premature.

Nothing was wrong with the baby or me, just that pain so why would that clueless dr recommend CS?

If she was the one in my shoes, would that be her first resort? Fool. I eyed her, hissed then told her that I would like to be discharged so I can go somewhere else for a 2nd opinion so she discharged me.

They wanted to give me Morphine (narcotics) which can also cause issues for baby but I refused.

The dr said she couldn’t give me Tylenol (paracetamol) cos it causes Autism in children & couldn’t give me Ibuprofen as well cos it causes heart defect in babies but offered me indocid (used as rat poison) in Nigeria. I refused of course.

I went home in pain. I was crying for days. I couldn’t take anything for pain.

Then I googled fibroid in pregnancy in black women & google brought me to this page on Nairaland.

I started from page one of this page to read & the testimonies of other women especially from someone called @recruita (not sure if that moniker is still active) & her experience moved me to tears. The testimony is back at page 52 or 62 (not sure). I wish the admin of this page can cut off this page and start a part 2 once it gets to 2000 posts. The information on this page is so informative but it’s exhausting to get to page 6000.

I read that testimony over and over & how prayerful she was and how drs wanted to make all wrong and bad decisions in her Case like tried to abort / terminate the pregnancy but she refused & ended up carrying her baby to term & having a healthy baby.

I tapped into that testimony & entered prayer mode. I prayed & read my psalms for about few days & miraculously, the pain disappeared, never to return again till today.

I am Catholic & in my time of distress, I did novena to St Gerald (a saint for expectant mothers) & novena to Jesus in the blessed sacrament. I did one novena in the morning & another in the evening. It was around day 3 of that novena that the Pain met away but I did the whole 9 days novena and that pain never came back.

After I had my baby, I went for scan to look for that mysterious fibroid but it wasn’t found. When I pushed out my baby, I asked the dr if I pushed out any fibroid & she said no.

My point of reference is: “be careful what decisions these ignorant drs entice u to make. Always consult with God. Pregnancy is a 9 month spiritual journey; a lot can happen along the way.

Good day to you all great mother's in the house.
Please I need an explanation to this. So, I started my injection yesterday and during the counseling, I was told that my husband and I can still be meeting until when we will be told to stop.
So my question now is, what if pregnancy did not occur while meeting, will it not affect the amount of eggs that will be retrieve?
Please someone should explain this to me, will meeting with my husband affect the number of eggs?
Thank you
Ur husband needs to produce fresh sperm which shldn’t be older than 48 hrs but he has to boost his sperm quality by abstaining from alcohol, tobacco, certain drugs, long driving or anything that heats up the balls like excessive exercise or cycling & the rest.

That was what we were told during counseling. If u have access to Guinea corn with millet pap & honey, also make him take it with liquid milk prior to sperm donation.

He has to produce the sperm by ma*tubation cos our lab told us that v*ginal penetration or Mouth Action for sperm donation isn’t advisable (don’t remember the reason anymore).

This IVF thing is hardcore.

Goodluck though.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll purchase the Iron tablet and Vit C on Amazon. Did you need a prescription for fersolate 220 mg? I couldn't find it over the counter.
I bought it from Walmart app. Use this to look for it:

Spring Valley Iron General Wellness Dietary Supplement Tablets, 65 mg, 100 Count

The Iron pill turned my stomach so bad. Ppl told me to put it in Eba or Semo but I barely eat those cos I was watching my weight during my IVF so I went for the liquid.Use this to search for it on Walmart app: Geri-Care Iron Liquid 220 mg Q701-16-GCP 1 Bottle” or Geri-Care Mineral Supplement Iron 220 mg Strength Liquid 16 oz.

I was taking Vitamin C 500 mg 2xs a day & the iron liquid, I was taking 5 mls 2xs a day. Set a reminder for it. Very helpful. My blood level had never been low & rarely fall sick.

I also take zinc 100 mg & vitamin D 5000 IU once a day ( recommended by my IVF Dr). Said blacks have low Vitamin D naturally.

Can anyone who has birthed in Texas kindly share timeline for baby social card. Birth cert and passport. Pls. I gave birth now 2 weeks in Dallas no social card yet. Pls kindly share timeline for baby documentation.

Would advice u to call the social security office close to u. Type on google & call the number there & ask if the hospital truly applied for ur baby’s SSN. In my case, the hospital claimed they applied but after waiting for 3 weeks & nothing was in my mail, I called the Social security office & they said there wasn’t a case number for my baby so they didn’t apply for my baby. I called the hospital & they affirmed that they applied.

Well, I had to go to the office myself to reapply & got it within 7 days. They just asked for a medical record that showed the baby’s name and dr’s signature or vaccine record or the hearing test result. So go with either of those & just out of caution, go with the birth certificate if u have it.

Good morning good people!

Please I need possible suggestion if we are a candidate for IUI?

I married my wife as a virgin about 18 months ago and ever since having a child is becoming a prayer point. We have been experiencing series of miscarriages/ chemical pregnancy.
The miscarriages/chemical pregnancy is always between 5-6weeks.

We recently did HSG and were told one of her tube block but the other is open.
I also did semen analysis again and it came out fine(178million count & 70motility with 50 morphology).

Every time we visted the hospital, they ask her to use dusphaston and vasoprine ,still no improvement.

This time she went in for hormonal test at the lab. Everything came out ok except her T3 and T4 with (less than 0.2) and the Doctor says is insignificant.

She was placed on clomid for this month and she was late for 5days, which we tested negative on home strip and blood work. Today she started bleeding.

I am confused and don't know what to do.Thank you as I await your responses
.
This is the preconception vitamins the Dr prescribed for me when they said one of my hormone was below normal range. Can’t remember which one.

I wonder why they prescribed Vasoprine. Did they tell u why?

What prenatal vitamins is she taking? These prenatal vitamins improves egg quality & as my Dr said, improves a woman’s hormones.

This page is loaded with so much information. U & ur wife shld study this page & u’ll get solid ideas & referrals.

As for ur anemic state, buy iron tablet 220 mg & be taking it with 1 g of vitamin c. When I did compulsory genetic testing for the IVF, they said I have a condition causes Anemia (can’t remember the name). I told them back to sender. When the Dr saw the report, he insisted I be placed on fersolate 220 mg, folic acid & vitamin c helps in the absorption of fersolate so my blood level was normal all through. I was also taking the prenatal vitamin I posted sometime ago.
I found my genetic result.

Thank God for your testimony. I agree that multiple egg retrievals gives peace of mind. I just wish to implant multiple embryo for twins (if possible) instead of starting over. My doctor has said no! It seems like US doctors follow a textbook manual/script without much deviation to the patient's needs. Four months in and we've only completed genetic testing and waiting on hubby's semen analysis. Testing alone has taken 4 months. I'm currently in counseling for Anemia. Well, they say, whatever is worth doing at all, is worth doing well.
True talk dear. I hate hate hate US Dr (s). They drive me crazy. Their textbook practice can be mind boggling & annoying.

U won’t believe I started up with a fertility Dr in the State where I was formerly residing. The Dr fired me like he said he’s nolonger taking me as a patient. It broke my heart because that Dr was the best in that State.

My very close friend who got married very late in life like she was 49 when she got married. She successfully had 2 kids with that Dr. One at 50 years old & the 2nd one at 52, via IVF & had vaginal delivery for both kids so that Dr, I’m talking about is the best. He’s very old, experienced & thorough

Now, Why did he discharge me? I insisted on getting implanted with multiple embryos at once so that I can have twins & he objected to that. I also told him that my remaining embryo will be destroyed if I successfully have my twin babies.

The Dr got provoked & said “do u know that embryos are human babies? Destroying ur embryos is as good as performing abortion which is against my morals & Catholic religion. Hia!! I asked “is it by force to donate my embryo?” He said “he’s nolonger moving on with me”.

I consulted with another IVF Dr & didn’t mention twins or embryo destruction but the problem was they were fully booked & were gonna start my cycle like in 7 months.

I had to go to another State, flying in & out & so on. It cost me so much so I finally decided to move down there when it was time for egg retrieval but the IVF center I used was the crappiest. I’ll come back to share that experience later.

Yes but the second cycle applies only if IVF fails. My doctor wants to keep retrieving eggs instead of going straight to IVF which is what I can't afford on my own. I may have to pay for multiple egg retrievals out of pocket and use insurance for the IVF cycles.

I wanted more egg retrievals too but my quack Dr won’t bulge. Having more eggs or embryo stored gives u peace of mind.

Like the process of waiting for the whole procedure again & the timing & so on makes it so annoying.

In the US, everything is by scheduling & appointment. Like it can take several weeks or months to have opening for the anesthesiologist to come for egg retrieval cos they are fully booked since they work at different hospitals & surgical centers.

My experience was traumatic. Even after my implantation, my workplace refused to give me time off cos I was new & wasn’t qualified. Had to resume work after 24 hrs of implantation. I had no rest.

Inshort mine is a testimony. When they gave me a picture of the embryo / blastocysts, after the PGT test came our normal, I name that embryo & placed that scan result / picture in psalm 91. Then every morning , I’ll open it & pray that psalm & talk to the embryo (weird right). What we do in time of desperation.

What was the PGT for?
Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) is used in conjunction with in-vitro fertilization (IVF) to identify which embryos are the most likely to result in a successtul pregnancy.

One of my embryo was Mosaic & after my pregnancy turned out negative, the IVF Dr advised me to have the mosaic implanted. The chances of miscarrying the mosaic embryo Is higher but it’s almost a normal embryo (from the genetic counseling I got). I declined cos I wanted the Dr to do more egg retrieval before I can just settle.

I can email u more readable resources sent to me about PGT.

Don’t give up. I got 6 eggs but Dr said 3 were immature & fertilized the 3 matured ones & only one embryo was normal after doing the PGT test. The one embryo implanted with prayers so don’t give up. IVF is brutal & not for the faint hearted but with God, all things are possible.

Thank you, I did frozen transfer for my 2nd ivf because I still had frozen embryos from the first cycle. The frozen transfer wasn’t up to 400k I think, I can’t remember to be honest. The first cycle was 750k,
Yes he gave us discount for the second one. I don’t know if they currently are on promo but these prices were as of last year. Baby dust to you

Imagine how cheap IVF is in Nigeria. We paid $33,000 in the US. PGT test on the embryo was $6,000. They only test 4 embryos with that $6,000 paid not like if u have 10 embryos, 6k covers it. Total is almost $40,000.

I’d tell anyone that wants to do IVF to just come to Nigeria & save money. 750,000 Naira is like $1000. Imagine!!

And these American drs are not as good as our Naija drs. From what I’ve read on this page, Nigerian drs know their drill. I will leave my IVF experience story for another day.

Hi everyone. I wanna share my experience & testimony to encourage someone. I wish I knew that this page existed; things would have been different for me during my IVF journey.

I did IVF last year. Unfortunately for me, I only had one viable embryo. There were so many questionable things the IVF center did that were not warranted for example, I think they fixed my egg extraction too early like if the Dr had waited one more day, I could have probably had more matured eggs. Well, after they extracted 6 eggs, I was informed that they only got 3 viable eggs so they went ahead to fertilize the egg. After the fertilization, they did a PGT test (like genetic or whatever test done on embryo) & told me I had only one viable embryo.

The other two embryos were something called Mosaic embryo & if implanted, could be miscarried.

I was sad & apprehensive. I wanted atleast 4 or 5 embryos incase that one didn’t implant. I wanted to go thru another cycle of egg extraction but my incompetent Dr wouldn’t do it.

Before my implantation; I did a Catholic prayer called NOVENA. I did Novena to St Gerald who is a saint for expectant mothers & Novena to Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. I did them for 9 days & I prayed my rosary everyday for that 9 days preceding my implantation.

While I was on the table for my implantation; I held unto my rosary & was professing “Oh Mary help my embryo to implant!! Oh Mary Help me! Oh Mary help my embryo to implant!! I kept uttering that prayer until the procedure was over.

Fast forward to 14 days later, they did a pregnancy test & they said it was negative. My husband prophesied & said “ their lab test is wrong” ; the embryo implanted!! I have faith in God. In my mind, I said “look at this dreamer! It’s over. We would have to start all over.

The Dr told me to stop the progesterone injection I was taking and also stop the Estradol pill I was taking & inserting into the vagina. Stopping the progesterone was a big relief cos my buttock was swollen & ice pack wasn’t even helping.

The Dr told me that we’d be booked to go thru another round of IVF. I told my husband that we’d have to look for a new fertility center cos this one was the worst.

My husband said he’s not going thru IVF again that the trauma is too much. It was really too much. From the injections to the transvaginal ultrasounds; HSG, several labs & so on. He said “that is too much”. He saw the toll it had on me. I lost myself.

Well, while I was sourcing money to start another journey this year, lo & behold I was pregnant. We didn’t know that the embryo implanted.

After I stopped taking the progesterone, I saw my period s& my husband was transferred to another State where he stayed till for 3 months without coming home & I was seeing my period throughout.

The day he came home, we ML (Ed) & after that I started having abdominal pain & was bleeding even though I saw my period like 2 weeks before so I went to the hospital & they didn’t scan & saw that I was 12+ weeks pregnant. I thought I had fibroid cos my stomach was getting big a little. Imagine the shock of my life.

Long story short. I carried the baby to term & delivered my baby.

I believe that IVF is a spiritual journey that needs God & divine intervention. Mine is still a shocker cos ppl are like “u were supposed to take progesterone for 3 months or else u will miss carry the pregnancy “. Or how were u seeing ur period or this or that. Well I tell them “all I know is that I invoked divinity & it came thru for me.

Even after my implantation, I did another NOVENA to our lady of Perpetual help. Prayer really works. When God gives u a testimony, it won’t make sense. This is one of those testimonies.

There was this particular guy in his late 30 (s) or there about who was refused visa. I remember the female interviewer asked him what was his purpose of his visit to the US&he mumbled something then the lady angrily said "this is your 6th time of applying for American Visa&each time u came for an interview,u kept lying to the interviewer for this reason,u are been refused visa&don't apply again until a few years. The guy asked "How many years?" And the interviewer said "A few years".

Another lady who came with her husband and little baby. She was heavily pregnant&her baby bump was already showing even underneath the free top she wore&she was asked if she hoped to seek any medical attention in the US&she lied&said no. And the interviewer asked her "Aren't u pregnant&she said "Not really". Then they told her to enter room 3 while her husband waits. I guess its for medical exam. Well, when i later saw her outside before we left, she came with the green A4 paper.

Another guy was told that this is the 3rd time he was applying for visa in the last 6 months&each time he came for interview,he had a different employer. What exactly is it that u want to go and do in the US? The guy answered "Business"&the interviewer didn't even waste her time&just handed him the green paper&called out "NEXT APPLICANT"

While i was there, atleast i witnessed over 50 interviews before it got to my turn.I could say out of about 50 applicants, only about 10 people were granted visa&this was at about 1pm.

1). If u'r applying for US visa, please don't lie. Make sure what you filled up on line correlates with what you'l say when you are interviewed. Don't add or subtract anything cos it is already registered in the system. The moment u step up to the interviewer&he/she types ur ....... Whatever, everything u filled in will display&then they will start questioning u to know if u'l say something different.

2). Make sure u have a geniune reason for travelling. Most of the people that said they're travelling to visit a brother or sister or fiancee were refused visa. Another lady that said she hoped to further her academics when she gets there was bounced&so on&so forth.
Family / Re: My Experience At The US Embassy by JadeWilliam(f): 2:29pm On Sep 17, 2015
So after online application,we got an interview date. Our interview time was 10am so we got there by 9.30am but we were told we couldn't enter until it was 5 minutes to d appointed time so we hung around till the appointed time.

Long story short,it took turns to do everything to go down like taking our biometric&interview etc. They didn't take my kids' biometric cos they were under age 12.

After taking our biometric,i begged d security lady 2allow me 2stay inside d interviewing room because of my kids which she took compassion on us and allowed us to stay in so while i was in there,i made all my observations.

The interviewing room has 2 long seat roles&when an interviewer (mostly White folks) calls "NEXT APPLICANT", u go to a vacant cubicle with the interviewer behind the cubicle&a transparent glass separating him/her&the applicant while everybody watched&listened. There's no discretion.

Everybody sitting in d waiting area will hear all d questions u're asked&all d answers u'l give. So when u're refused visa, they'l give u a green A4 paper with "God Knows what's written there"&if u're granted visa,u'l be given a white paper stating the day u're to go for ur visa collection.

I decided to post this just incase there're people who applied for visa&are about to go for interview or people who hope 2apply so that u don't get bounced. Just read&learn.

For reference sakes,i'm not an agent or anything&i'm not a good story teller.I'm just here to write my experience for people to learn&feel free to quote&ask questions&other people to add their own contribution.

There're some people i saw there that came for an interview dressed like they're going to market.

Come on. We all know that appearance go a long way to impress your interviewer; be it a job interview or otherwise.

Some applicants couldn't even comport themselves. U know these oyibo ppl know how to intimidate. They'l star right into your eyes&watch your body language trying to psyche you so you have to be well composed.

You have to be well prepared. Some people who claimed they work at so so and so or earn so so and so has to have documents to back up their claims.

As for the guys, please don't carve your hair like gallas&go for interview cos u'l look like a tout or like Farouk. Looks decent&level headed&don't chew gum.

. How about primary schools in gwarimpa? I mean very good ones.
Which primary school did u finally chose in Gwarinpa? I know Living ward magnet at 1st Avenue is very good atleast they give the kids lunch&do extra moral lessons. I also heard Starville; Great blessed;Trailblazers&so many others are good but schools in Gwarinpa are super super expensive.

I will always choose good private schools over govt schools. Frm facilities to safety.

Private schools have less cult activities&have good hostels&learning facilities. And most especially, no strike action.

Inshort d benefits of going 2a private sch are plenty. I can't list dem right now cos I'm heading out.

Traditional wedding rights can b frustrating but if u have good inlaws&frm a village where d elders are flexible not strong-headed; they can arrange 4somethngs 2b disregarded&waved. Just b in good terms with ur inlaw 2b&tell dem ur budget. U'l b surpriced how thngs wil turn out 4u.

Btw: if ur fiancee has a good job;her 6th sense shld tell her dat she shld support u if u'r cash trapped 4dis unless u don't want her money getting involved.

Wishing u d best&may d good Lord bless u 4wanting 2marry ur fiancee d rightful way. He who finds a wife has found a good thing&has obtained favour from the Lord

The village heads make thing so hard in the name of custom&dats y our girls are ageing in their father's house.

The young men remain bachelors beyond 40&some ladies have children out of wedlock&end up living with the man without going home to perform the necessary thngs as d custom permits (where is the money)?

So many people are looking 4food to eat.No jobs 4d graduate, business aren't booming like b4 due 2poor infrastructure&corruption&those theives sit down at a place making unnecessary rules&lame custom. SMH

What will those theives be doing with 40 heads of tobacco? Isn't tobacco illegal sef
