Several years ago, when my wife was pregnant with our last born, she went out on bike and had an accident while returning. She was almost 8 months into the pregnancy. She dusted herself up and came home leaping. We couldn't visit the hospital because I was financially down that period. I just lost a lot of money to importation fraud at the time. I was sent fake goods. It was one of my most financially weak days. We were rationing even food. I just examined her bruises and treated them leaving everything to God while looking forward to her already scheduled hospital appointment billed for the coming week. I was monitoring her and didn't notice anything serious. So, I thanked God. The third day, she told me that the baby has not kicked since the day of the accident. A baby what was known to actively kick several times in a day. It was a Saturday. I just laid hands on the tummy and prayed. That same night, she reported that the baby is now kicking. She was born safely and is now a full blown woman. No issue at all. None of my children have had any reason to be admitted to a hospital till date. I have never had any reason to pay doctors for anything over any of my children including myself.

Now, while I cannot tell what happened that made the baby stop kicking, the same day kick could, or might not be a miracle, but the same-day kick itself is a sign that whatever it is, God heard me. The kick could just be a reassurance that all is well with the baby. It could also be that a miracle happened. No one can tell. The ultrasound and the medical examinations that came the following week didn't show anything wrong with both mother and child. But, an 8 months pregnant woman falling face down on a moving bike on a busy road, and getting back home all by herself is in itself a miracle. There's 90% chance that we'll have a different story if we don't know Jesus. Dr. Jaephoenix would have billed me very heavily 😊. Thank God for doctors actually. God bless them all.

So, as you could see. That scenario I described with the same-day kick could be just a sign. This handshape around the fetus could also be just a sign. The probabilities I weighed earlier could be considered in this light.

Back to our discussion, lordreed. Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself. Not in the sense of the ritual sacrifice that you are portraying. But in the sense of satisfying the demands of justice, not just for God but for all the entities that need the justice. A person who takes it upon himself to bear the punishment of others is sacrificing himself. That is a sacrifice. Not necessarily to be tagged a human sacrifice in the sense you are projecting. For example, your younger son committed an offence. You wanted to punish him, but your elder son comes to you and says "Dad, please don't beat him. Beat me instead." That's a sacrifice. Not necessarily a human sacrifice. A sacrifice therefore can be anything you do at the detriment of yourself for the benefit of others. There's nowhere in the Bible where it is recorded that Jesus' sacrifice was a human sacrifice ritual.

Jesus Christ was a sacrifice in that sense as I described above.

He could be a sacrifice without dying but He had to die only because capital punishment is the only satisfaction for justice for any type of offence anyone can commit. No matter the offence anyone commits, capital punishment is the highest form of punishment anybody can receive. Hence, Christ taking a capital punishment for me covers any crime whatsoever that I or anyone can commit. Hope you're getting it, my friend?

Now, God accepted Jesus' sacrifice as a judge would accept the sacrifice of someone standing in for someone else. This is the human-like scenario:

I committed crimes. My punishment is death. I was arrested and was about to be sentenced by the law. Jesus comes in. Argues it out in court, and proves to the court that He was the one who committed the crime. I was just a victim of circumstances. He takes my sins upon Himself. He takes my sentence and suffers in my stead.

Why can't the judge just forgive without requiring any punishment?

1. The judge is not the only entity who wants to see justice. The judge can forgive but what about the complainants? There are several entities involved in a sinful expedition. Not just God. All demands of justice must be fulfilled, otherwise, God will not be a Just God. Remember that woman, Mariam Sanda who killed her husband? She was sentenced to life in prison. Tinubu forgave her. The husband's father forgave her. But other family members did not. Tinubu had to withdraw his forgiveness, otherwise, he would not be a just president.

2. Outright forgiveness without consequences would not allow the offender to see the weight of his offences. He could even bank on being forgiven again. But when he sees that someone was punished for him, he'll also understand that he might not be lucky next time. He'll adjust his life. In my case, I'll adjust my life to satisfy the demands Jesus made on me before giving up Himself on my behalf. Now that He died that I may live, I must not allow His death to be in vain. My duty is to live loyal to the One who ransomed me. If Her demands righteousness from me, then I must give it because the life I currently have is not mine but His.
