Cubana Chiefpriest is not a politician. He is a businessman. And businessmen go where the business is.

Last election, business was with Obi. This election, business is with Tinubu. He is not betraying ideology; he is following the money. The only sin is saying it out loud.

The outrage is表演. Everyone knows this is how Nigeria works. The same people criticizing him would do the same if their livelihood depended on it.

Call it opportunism. Call it survival. Call it realism. The name does not matter. What matters is: when the food moves, do you starve or follow?

Chiefpriest chose to follow. And in Nigeria, that is not betrayal. That is strategy
My nigga,u r real. Im an igbo man but it it what it is. Many igbo guys would follow Tilumbu if he dangles one tenth of the carrot he dangled to Cubana. We dont have ideologies,we have survival. Wrong cause. No evidence our medical colleges are significantly lowering admission requirements to admit people from Sokoto. We're dealing with a system problem. How hospitals are run. Work culture. Societal values. Accountability issues. Infrastructure. Working conditions. Etc.
In the end,we doctors are all humans, prone to mistakes and errors of judgement once in a while. The advance countries know that and have put systems in place to checkmate this, like a cap in a max number of patients docs attend to in a day, free and easily accessible mental health, mechanical use of some of the actions we usually undertake and other measures. These reduce the mental toll on us. And the mistakes drastically reduce.
But in Nigeria, the doctor patient ratio is one of the highest in the world, and no one cares. We work under strenuous conditions. If we manage to do mistakes, everyone comes for our heads like mass murderers. It's not a fair system. Even the best docs succumb to these things. No doctor goes to work with the intention to kill anyone. The system needs to change. The doctors work is the most strenuous profession cos any tiny mistake and someone can die

HealthRe: Everyone Knew I Had HIV… Except Me by jaephoenix(m): 12:20pm On Feb 23
RetroviralS:
Growing up, I thought I was just a sickly child. I was always in and out of the hospital, always taking medication daily. Whenever I asked why, I was told, “It’s to keep you strong.” I believed them.

At 13, during a routine clinic visit, I overheard two nurses whispering. One said, “That’s the girl born with it.” Born with what?

That sentence wouldn’t leave my mind. That night, I searched through my mother’s drawer and found my hospital file. I saw it clearly written: HIV Positive.

I froze.

Not because I thought I would die immediately, but because everyone seemed to know something about my life that I didn’t. I confronted my mother. She cried. She said she didn’t know how to tell me. She said she was trying to protect me.

Maybe she meant well.

But silence didn’t feel like protection. It felt like loneliness. For years, I swallowed my medication quietly. I avoided deep friendships. I kept people at a distance. I was more afraid of stigma than the virus itself.

Everything changed when I met other young people like me at a support group for students, entrepreneurs, dreamers living boldly. That was when I understood something important:

HIV may be in my blood, but it does not define my future. Today, I take my medication confidently. I live fully. I speak without shame.

Being born with HIV is not a death sentence. But stigma can be.

Nairaland family, if you were in my mother’s shoes, would you have chosen silence or honest conversation? Maybe it’s time we start changing how we talk about children born with HIV.
Another fake story on Nairaland. As a doctor,we dont hand patient records to them. Also this patient is supposedly an adult, aint no way his mother would be in possession of his records. That's a breach of doctor patient confidentiality. And most importantly, we dont append HIV POSITIVE to patient folders. We either mark and X,or we just put XYZ or other codes there
RetroviralS I know u wanna bring attention to some cases but at least let us know its fictional instead of painting it as real life

as69:
The man is speaking facts honestly. People act like marriage is some kind of investment where the returns are guaranteed but for a Nigerian man in this economy the risk is too high.

I know guys who married, built the house, paid bride price, took care of everything — and then the wife packed and left with the kids when things got tough. No accountability, nothing. The court system will still favor her.

That said sha, I dont think all women are like that. Some women genuinely hold their men down and contribute. The problem is you can't always tell who is who until its too late.

The real issue is that our society still has this old mindset — man must provide everything — but has also adopted new ideas where the woman has freedom to leave if she feels like it. Its a one sided deal now.

Marriage still has its value but a man needs to choose very carefully these days. Financial compatibility should be discussed openly before anyone says I do. If she earns money but expects you to pay all bills, thats a red flag. Period.
Who is this society r talking about? It's u and i. So the earlier we change the forecast the better

HealthRe: FMC Abuja Reacts To Death Of Ifunanya Nwangene by jaephoenix(m): 4:45pm On Feb 17
EXPRESSSMAN:
Well, there are many things a doctor can do in such a situation, but first, let's understand this concept of God. God created human beings to be in absolute control of the earth. Just like Angels, demons and animals have their own domain. He created the medicine you are talking about. God sometimes, for his own purpose, intervenes in the affairs of man. Many doctors and scientists confirm this. So you don't ask why God didn't heal you. That's not a good question. I am not a religious person, but I believe in God and know that God intervenes in the affairs of man from time to time. It is not about religion. You don't need to go to church to know that God exist. Just look at your life and your environment. They will tell you that God exist.
And to your question, what I expect doctors to do under such a situation? Let me tell you it is not every aspect of medicine that involves giving drugs, injections or operations. The doctor's body language and handling of the situation in many cases, go a long way in the patient's healing and recovery.
When I was a kid, if they took us to a hospital, the doctor would check our tongue, mouth, nails and eyes before anything. But these days, when I took my children to the hospital, the doctor would be on his seat and only ask some questions and recommend a test. No physical touch on the child or examination. I used to feel very sad about their new method.
As I said before, it is only in Nigeria that a critically sick patient would be sent away because we value money more than human life. In other climes, they would have taken samples for examination, fluids and an assurance and message that the person is a human being and will get well. If you pass this kind of message through your action, the person will not die.
You still didn't answer my question why god would create medicine and make it imperfect and costly. Just like a regular Christian,u dodged the question. When u answer the question, I'll know u r serious. And what has my life gotta do with the existence of god? Also cos some doctors talked about god doesn't mean it created medicine. So if Muslim doctors call on Allah, does it mean he created medicine too? Just answer the question.
We still touch and examine patients till tomorrow, especially if it warrants it. It's not all complaints that require exam. If you have certain complaints, we wont require invitations to examine u. Did you even read what I said earlier, I asked u what reason did they refer the patient, and u r here talking about running tests. If there was no bed space, where tf do u expect them to keep the patient for the tests? So r so he'll bent on blaming doctors, that u havent processed any of the questions or comments I made. Just like a typical Nigerian

You are asking how did God came in.. Some one that the doctors recommended to be transported in an ambulance because they believe that he could not survive the next one hour. But he lived to get to Owerri. Then at Owerri, he could not get any help again. He was abandoned in an unconscious state for 3 days before the hospital sent for him. Now you think that his survival was ordinary.
Meanwhile , the hospitals in Lagos kept rejecting him. That was why his people say that they should bring him to Owerri.
His survival was not a small matter, it was not kidney related but he went through dialysis for some months.
Now apart from Nigeria , do you think that a patient like that would be brought to the hospital in any country and they told them to take him back.
It could only happen in Nigeria.
Now you're defending the doctors saying they are not the one to provide bed and equipment.
What happens to making some alternative arrangements for his treatment until such a time a bed space would come out. What about doing some diagnostics for his case. Is 3 days not enough for someone in such situation to die. And from all the things that happened, you don't think that his survival for a great miracle.
First things first, ambulances are used for transport of LIVING humans who are critical. It contains equipment and drugs to resuscitate and maintain this sick folks. It's also manned by critical care personnel and emergency physicians. Obviously dead folks wont need all these. If your god actually works, why does he need doctors? Why does your god need the help of medicine to work? How can he create science and medicine and hand it over to fallible humans like me who can make mistakes and accidentally k!ll patients? Why did he make the healthcare very costly that some of his believers can't afford it? What's easier, praying and getting healed immediately OR being treated by fallible humans after paying huge amounts of money, and spending time?
Also the doctors said to take him to other facilities. Its not their fault hospitals are poorly equipped.
We dont reject patients. We simply refer. That is a lie Nigerians post to discredit doctors. If I cannot handle a case,I simply refer u. Most times the patient doesn't go where we refer them. I live in lagos. There are critical care facilities both private and government. Obviously the privates cost more. My own hospital take a deposit of 3m for Intensive Care. So if you have the money,u pay and we admit. And this is not all u pay, this is initial deposit. U may end up spending 6 or 7m. And u actually believe there are better hospitals in Owerri than Lagos? Lol 😆
Again. If he was brought with kidney disease and hes stable,he can be managed at home. Many people have kidney disease and are being managed on outpatient basis. It's not miraculous
When u say alternative arrangement, what exactly do u mean? When we tell u we can't take a case, its usually cos of bed space or lack of amenities or personnel. I dont really know which of the reasons the hospital had but for either of them, there is absolutely nothing we can do. If u think there is,let me know.

Hmmm, my guy, N200k was used to charter an Ambulance and you said it could be mild sickness. When did we start to use Ambulances for mild sickness?
Anyway, the guy was rejected by other hospitals. It was an inter state movement. The doctors believe that the guy will die on the way so they recommend that he should be transported in an Ambulance. It was from Lagos to Owerri. When they got to Owerri and discovered that he was still alive, they took him to FMC Owerri. That's when the incident happened.

He developed the sickness suddenly. They said that his blood mixed with water in his body. That's the sickness. He was paralyzed and unconscious for days . That was his condition when the hospital turned him away. They could not go to another because they have been previously been rejected by others. But to God's glory the guy is full of life as at today.
I am a doctor, not just any but with 18 years experience. Patients abuse ambulance
About the index case, why should a patient be transported from Lagos to Owerri? Why didn't they take him to critical care hospitals in Lagos? I dont understand this blood mixing with water BS. Yes the doctors in Owerri were right in referring him cos there's nothing. So he was rejected cos of no bed space which is not the doctors fault. I wonder how u managed to blame doctors for that. We dont build, equipment or staff hospitals. Also i told you that the best options for some cases is immediate referral and not every case deserves a 'first aid'. This is one of them
And how does a god come in here? What did the god do?
HealthRe: FMC Abuja Reacts To Death Of Ifunanya Nwangene by jaephoenix(m): 8:45pm On Feb 15

Well, I heard you. Anything that happens in a hospital is attributed to doctors.
A friend of mine was taken to FMC in an ambulance because of the seriousness of his condition. They told the people that they should take him home because there was no space. No First aid, no treatment for someone in such situation. He was taken home by the same ambulance and abandoned to his fate.
Then 3 days after, the hospital sent them to bring him. He recover fully after treatment by the same hospital.
Can you imagine that.
U forgot or neglected to say the most important information....the diagnosis. What did the man have? They sent him home because he probably had a mild illness,so its not an emergency. Just because they brought him in an ambulance doesn't automatically translate to an emergency. If he had a serious life threatening case, they would have at least sent him to another hospital. The fact he was still alive days later without any intervention means he wasn't that sick.
I want to expunge this ihnora nce amongst NL that 'first aid' must be administered to every emergency case. Sometimes if a hospital is resource poor, either personnel, equipment or meds, the patient is best sent somewhere where he can receive attention. Lemme give example. A man comes with a road traffic accident and is unconscious and has fluid or blood coming out from his ear or nose. He most likely has a raised ICP from head injury. If a center doesn't have mannitol, the best thing is send that patient on his way to get a brain CT (non contrast) so as to commence management straight away. Keeping him in that resource poor center is counter productive. Hope this helps

HealthRe: Nigeria Isn’t As Bad As You Think — Let Me Explain by jaephoenix(m): 8:34am On Feb 12
uche87:
On the 30th of January, 2026, I fell ill while at work. After struggling through the rest of the day, I returned home to rest. When my condition worsened, I decided to visit the Accident and Emergency (A&E) unit at my local hospital.

I arrived at exactly 10:13 pm. Within a minute, I was booked in by the receptionist and asked to wait. Shortly after, a nurse called me, took my details, and recorded my vital signs. I was then asked to return to the waiting area to see a doctor. That moment never came.

Instead, I was called twice more by nurses to repeat the same observations, each time urged to remain patient. A notice board nearby displayed the previous day’s estimated waiting time — seven hours. My ordeal lasted until 9:30 am the following morning. I never saw a doctor. Eventually, a specialist nurse briefly attended to me, offered verbal reassurance, handed me a leaflet, and asked me to leave. The A&E waiting area became a temporary shelter. People turned chairs into makeshift beds. Others left in frustration. The environment was chaotic. Police officers intermittently brought in injured suspects in handcuffs, adding to the tension and discomfort.

As I sat there, exhausted and unwell, my thoughts drifted back to Nigeria. I remembered a day in 2016 at a government hospital in FESTAC Town, Lagos, when my condition deteriorated so badly that the crowd insisted I jump the queue. I also recalled how, at the private hospital attached to the multinational firm I worked for, I could see a doctor within five to ten minutes.
Now, in the UK, seeing a doctor sometimes feels like winning a lottery. According to The Sun, 554,018 patients in England waited 12 hours or more in A&E in 2025. Data from the Nuffield Trust shows that during peak periods, over 61,000 patients per month experienced 12+ hour waits — around 11% of all emergency admissions. At a minimum of 12 hours per patient, this amounts to over 6.6 million hours lost annually.

Unsurprisingly, many Nigerians living in the UK now travel back home for major surgeries and treatments. It is often faster, cheaper, and far less stressful.

While the quality of healthcare in the UK and Nigeria may appear worlds apart, few imagined that Nigeria would one day serve as a medical lifeline for those living abroad.

Beyond healthcare, the economic reality is equally sobering. Many Nigerians sold land, cars, and family properties to relocate. Today, they struggle under hyper-inflated rents, rising energy bills, and high living costs, barely staying afloat.
Securing a white-collar job often feels like requiring divine intervention. The system appears structured to trap certain groups within physically demanding, low-paying roles. Warehouse work destroys the body. The care sector drains emotional and physical strength. Mental health support work, though meaningful, exposes workers to extreme violence and psychological trauma.

NHS England records over 100,000 violent incidents against healthcare staff annually — an average of 285 assaults every day. In June 2025, Irene Wanjiru Mbugua, a 48-year-old care worker originally from Kenya, was tragically killed by a patient in the West Midlands. While rare, such incidents reveal the severe dangers frontline healthcare workers face daily.

Social conditions are no less concerning. 21% of people in the UK — about 14.2 million individuals — live in poverty. Without social safety nets, this figure would skyrocket. Additionally, 24 million people receive at least one form of state benefit, including pensions, disability support, and working-age benefits, highlighting the scale of economic vulnerability.

In terms of safety, police recorded 53,047 knife-related offences in England and Wales in the year ending March 2025. While the UK remains safer than Nigeria overall, rising violent crime remains deeply troubling.

For parents seeking better opportunities for their children, another danger lurks — hard drugs. Government data shows 16,212 children aged 17 and below were in drug and alcohol treatment between April 2024 and March 2025, a 13% increase from the previous year. This underscores the growing exposure of young people to harmful substances.

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, social life thrives. Community bonds remain strong. Laughter is louder. Life feels fuller. In contrast, the UK work culture often reduces life to an endless cycle of work, bills, exhaustion, and survival. Tragically, between 2024 and 2025, several Nigerian students and workers collapsed and died in the UK due to stress and exhaustion, including cases in South Wales and Hertfordshire.

I’ll end on a lighter note. The stress levels here are so intense that almost everyone snores like old power generators. Many refuse to believe it — until shown video evidence. This was never the case back home.

The hustle has shifted gears. And this one runs at a dangerously high speed.

Pharmaceutical anti venom might be in short supply but natural anti venom is in abundance.

The venom of a snake is neurotoxic and causes inflammation of the body tissues.

Natural anti venom is neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory to the body tissue.

In the absence of medical treatment from an hospital;moderate to high dosage of natural anti venom like tumeric, garlic, nigella sativa, moringa leaf or seed, onions, clove, bitter kola,et cetera would definately neutralize the snake's venom.
Bitter kola etc don't have enough anitvenin to counter the inoculum from the snake, and even some of them don't have any antivenin properties
