This is what to a bunch of AMATEURS sent the economy into recession. I laugh in kenery language. People are just stupid in this country.
With the oil price crash, Nigeria was automatically in recession because of the foreign exchange crunch. Almost all businesses in Nigeria use imported raw materials and spare parts. We also import too much fuel thanks to Jonathan. Also the size of government is large and finally , militants bombed crude oil lines.

The truth is the truth and it sets you free.

If you don't admit that lack of savings and investments by past governments, corruption, over importation and the bombing of pipelines are the causes of recession then you are a coward and you might feel the worst effects of the recession than others because you need to accept the truth of a problem to solve it.

It is very very childish and cowardly to say someone caused recession by doing TSA or fighting cortuption. It simply means we did not have an economy in the First pace
Nigeria was not in recession when PMB took over.

Charlse Soludo's explanation is clear as day. I remembered then as part of plans to strenghten Nigerian banks to compete favorably with their counterparts internationally, CBN decided to deposit part of the country's international reserve in 14 select Nigerian banks. It wasn't Soludo's express decision. It was a collective decision agreed upon by CBN board and well publised. Clearly Femi Falana got his facts wrong. He mistook ''Deposits'' for ''Loans''.
This is why I hate media trial. Accusing people of corruption on the pages of newspapers does not reduce nor fight corruption. Do your homework and get your facts and evidences right before you accuse someone of corruption.

The process towards De-Tinubunizing south west started immediately Buhari was elected president in 2015. Buhari not showing up at a meeting for APC senators at ICC Abuja last year that saw the emergence of Saraki as senate president was the first battle. Remember Abuja mafias were also behind James Falake not becoming gov in Kogi state after the demise of Abubakar Audu.
The method through which Abuja mafia manipulated Ondo APC primaries to produce their prefered candidate will be employed in Lagos APC primaries come 2019 at the detriment of Tinubu.

Continuation...
of Akeredolu. This was not the first time the Abuja group fought
against Tinubu. It was learnt that the same forces fought Tinubu’s
choice, James Faleke, as replacement for the late Abubakar Audu, who died before the final announcement of the Kogi State
governorship election result. The Abuja group, with Buhari’s
loyalists, influenced the choice of Yahaya Bello as late Audu’s
replacement for the supplementary election.
“We know that there are forces within the party trying hard to
weaken Tinubu’s support base in the party. The party primaries in
Ondo State was just one of the battles against us. The whole
process was manipulated in such a way that Tinubu’s candidate
did not emerge.
They succeeded in Kogi. Now in Ondo, they seem to be having
their way. But wait. Who loses in the long run? It’s the party. Not
Tinubu. “In spite of our sacrifices for the party, some forces are
pushing hard to turn us to onlookers in the party.
Well, we are watching how events unfold. The only thing is that
we were instrumental to the emergence of this government and we won’t abandon the ship,” a loyalist of Tinubu told New
Telegraph at the weekend. The Abuja/el-Rufai group has two
goals – all revolve around 2019 elections – to take over the
structures of the party in the South- West and boost their
ambition.
There are plans for the group to produce Buhari’s successor either
in 2019 or 2023. Amosun, Fashola and some ministers are
coordinating the South-West block aimed at challenging the APC leader. Tinubu’s influence earned him the right to nominate the vice president for Buhari in 2015. Also, some of the ministers are fighting back over alleged attempt by Tinubu to block their
nomination as ministers.
Tinubu and Amosun fell apart during the constitution of the Buhari cabinet over who takes the Ogun State slot. While Tinubu
recommended his former finance commissioner, Wale Edun,
Amosun opted for his finance commissioner, Kemi Adeosun. In
the end, Amosun had his way as Adeosun emerged Minister of
Finance. The relationship got worse when Tinubu facilitated the return of former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, back to the APC. This, Amosun considered as a plot to fight him. Again, the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Adeola
representing Lagos West in 2019 has further ruptured their
relationship. Amaechi is coordinating the South-South axis of the Abuja group while el- Rufai is working with some northern
governors to rally the north for the APC ahead of 2019. For
loyalists of Buhari, politics is secondary.
They are preoccupied with how to get Buhari on the right side of
history. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), David Babachir, and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, are core members of this tendency who are working on how to find
solution to varying challenges confronting the country. The
tendency depends on all groups within the party. Buhari has
remained indifferent in the crisis rocking his party.

– Buhari’s loyalists, Tinubu,Abuja Group in cold war
– Amosun, Fashola lead South-West onslaught.

In a bid to control the levers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2019 elections, major forces in the governing party are currently in a suppressed war, which has split the party into, at least, three major factions.
The internal crisis in APC is deep-seated such that the various
factions have weakened the ruling party. The only difference now
between APC and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
is that in the former, it is a suppressed war, while in the latter, the party is divided along Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff factions with cases on the leadership in various courts. New Telegraph learnt that there are three major tendencies in the party: Bola Tinubu, Abuja group and Buhari loyalists.
The Tinubu tendency, which has Chief Bisi Akande, former
governor of Osun State and ex-Interim National Chairman of the
APC with a few APC governors aligned, has been the subject of
attacks from forces in the party. The tendency played a major role
in the merger of the legacies party that coalesced to form APC.
The second group is the Abuja group with Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, Babatunde Fashola (Minister of Power, Works
and Housing), Rotimi Amaechi (Minister of Transportation), and
some other ministers as members.
The third tendency within the party is the core loyalists of
President Muhammadu Buhari. Former Vice-President Atiku
Abubakar, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara and some state governors are spread across the three tendencies.
They might eventually pull out from the APC, credible sources
have disclosed. The fourth tendency is the party leadership,
especially the national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, and
national legal adviser, Muiz Banire. The party leadership is more
aligned to the Abuja group. All the groups are working at cross-purposes.
While the Tinubu-Akande tendency is today strategizing on how to hold on to the South- West front, the Abuja group, led by el-Rufai, is working with the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led South-West block to take control of the party structures in the zone from Tinubu. It was learnt that major forces in the party see Tinubu as a common enemy ahead of 2019.
“What exactly is Tinubu’s sin, no one has been told. How can
someone who played a part in the electoral victories of APC at
virtually all levels suddenly become a threat?” an associate of
Tinubu asked. Multiple sources told New Telegraph that the idea is to weaken the support base of Tinubu ahead of 2019 general
elections.
The internal strife within the APC played out in the recent
governorship primaries of the party in Ondo State where the Abuja tendency worked against Tinubu and ensured that their
preferred aspirant, Rotimi Akeredolu, emerged as the party’s
candidate in the November 20 poll.
There is suspicion in the Tinubu camp that the Abuja group and
the party’s national leadership manipulated the process in favour...

Politics / Two Million Nigerians Trapped In Boko Haram Control Areas. - United Nations. by jakiedudu(m): 8:00am On Sep 18, 2016
About 2 million people are trapped in Nigeria’s North-Eastern areas still controlled by Boko Haram, and are facing serious humanitarian conditions, the United Nations has said.
This was disclosed Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, by UNICEF’s Chief of Nutrition in Nigeria, Arjan de Wagt, during a press briefing
by the UN Information Service.
According to Mr. Wagt who spoke on telephone from Abuja, about 2 million people are still in areas which are inaccessible because of the security situation.
The 2 million people are in Borno State alone, he said.
Regarding Bama, he said there’s only access to the town of Bama
and the IDP camp there, but not the other parts of the town.
He said the situation of the people trapped in Boko Haram-held areas was unknown, but that sometimes UNICEF managed to get a glimpse when IDPs from those areas came to more accessible areas. UNICEF could then check their nutrition and health status, which was bad, he added.
“Before April 2016, there was no access to most areas in Borno
State because of the security situation,” he said.
But since April, access has progressively become possible to
some of the other areas, he noted.
He however lamented that “In the newly-accessible areas, the
levels of suffering and of malnutrition are very high. In some of those areas, there’s a severe acute malnutrition rate of 12 per cent, which is a level rarely seen. It is of a severity similar to that seen
during the Horn of Africa crisis in 2011, in Somalia”.
Children face acute malnutrition
Mr. Wagt raised alarm over looming humanitarian disaster in the North East.
He said in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States, there were 400,000
children “with severe acute malnutrition, and in Borno alone,
244,000 children are affected”.
He said it was the “worst level of malnutrition possible”, and the
children were on “the brink of death”.
About one in five of those children were likely to die if they were
not reached in time with specialized therapeutic foods, he warned.
He added that, if nothing was done, about 49,000 of the 244,000 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in Borno State would die over the coming 12 months, translating to about 134
every day. “Some 65,000 people are in famine-like conditions, the worst level of food insecurity, and facing starving to death for lack of food. It is a very unique situation in the world,” he said.
Addressing the problem
To address the situation, Mr. Wagt said, resources in financial
human and organizational terms were needed.
“All partners – Governments, the UN, NGOs and the private sector
and individuals had to work together to provide the support thatwas needed.”
He added that all people in accessible areas needed to be reached, and food aid needed to be brought to them. “For the youngest children as well as pregnant and breastfeeding
mothers, specialized, therapeutic, high nutrient food is required. If
this is not addressed, more and more children would develop
severe acute malnutrition,” he said.
He said UNICEF was supporting a nutrition programme and had
recruited 1,500 community mobilizers going from house to
house, from shelter to shelter, so that severely malnourished
children could be linked to the health services so they could get
treatment.

Remember the story on Jealousy murder earlier posted on front page; www.nairaland.com/3349437/jealous-lady-murders-ex-boyfriends-girlfriend
about a lady with Twitter handle @_ladykocaine who made veiled threats about killing her ex's girlfriend More facts about the murder are begginning to emerge.
Kendra Childs, the Houston mother of a two-year-old child was killed a day before her 20th birthday and police are looking for
suspects and a motive in a story that has caused a huge social
media outcry. Not much information is available about the caseand a police investigation is ongoing, but here is what is known:
1. Murder took place in the middle of the day: Childs was
shot to death while in a second floor apartment around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, police say. Her boyfriend, who apparently lives in the apartment returned home from work to find her dead and
immediately sought help.

2. A mysterious car was at the scene: Witnesses told police
that a black Camaro with tinted windows was seen driving by the
apartment and firing multiple rounds, according to Houston Police Department homicide unit spokesman Mark Holdbrook.

3. The killer likely sought her out: Police say Childs was alone in the apartment at the time of her death and they believe that she was the intended target of the shooting.

4. No leads have come up in the case yet: No suspects have
been arrested and nobody has been brought in for questioning so far. Police did search a black Camaro they later found, based on a tip but have not said whether or not that vehicle was the one
connected to the shooting.

5. Social Media is focusing on Twitter threats: Although
there are no suspects or arrests yet, social media users have taken
the hashtag #RIPKendra viral, with many asserting that Childs was murdered by a jealous ex-lover of her boyfriend. A person with the Twitter handle @_ladykocaine made veiled threats earlier this year on that account. Users say this person had been romantically connected to Childs’ boyfriend, but there has been no evidence confirming any relation between this Twitter user, the boyfriend or Childs so far. Police have not commented on any investigation of the threats or if the user has been questioned.

You're right. They know quite well that they have failed but just want to deflect responsibility on PDP, who have been out of power for 1+ years now.
Honestly this govt are not ready to lead. They are getting almost everything wrong. One of their biggest excuses for resorting to an outdated foreign exchange policy was because GEJ embezzled national reserve. For that reason they baned the flow of dollars going out of nigeria. Unfortunately for them, as they baned dollars from leaving the shores of Nigeria, they at the same time baned the flow of dollars coming into Nigeria. When dollars was not coming in, CBN became the only source of foreign exchange. In the end, they were choked out of forex. If they allowed free market forces to determined the price of forex early enough CBN won't have gone through all the stress of defending the naira by itself. Foriegn investors would have compliment their efforts in bringing in their foriegn exchange too. No foriegn investor will invest or bring in his money in an atmosphere were he cannot repatriate his earnings. APC govt want to eat their cake and have it in a world economy. That will not be tolerated by other economic players. When you restrict flow of dollars going out of your shores, same measure will be done unto you - pure and simple.
