I stopped quoting you because I realised I was dealing with someone who thinks he's so smart in a discussion he knows nothing about. You really want us to come here every day and whine about the negative sides of living in Germany which have been mentioned on the German thread countless times, which can be found online too. Are you frustrated and angry you just realised nobody go give you PR just because you studied and got a job within 1.5 years which to me doesn't make sense. If you read their immigration laws clear enough you will see that time spent as a student doesn't really count that much. As someone not on student visa, I'm eligible to apply next year after 5 years of living in Germany but if I were on student visa I would have not qualified for PR because the rules are different. You talk about us not sharing the bad sides. The bad sides which I'm sure have been mentioned here again and again include the language, racism, difficulty to get a job after studying if you need to know the language or if your course isn't lucrative in Germany, being on tight schedules because of studies, rude officials in the foreign office, juggling two jobs at the same time, difficulty to get an apartment as a student. Others can add theirs too and I strictly mean only people living in Germany!. What again do you really want to hear . Pr this pr that. Some of us just want to live in a system that works, that's it. If you want pr, come and get it . |

hiplus: Let me break it down. I have been offered admission into DBA(Doctor in Business Administration program in the UK, so I understand the research proposal part. The DBA is a 4year program and I can move with my family immediately.
I have completed a Masters program in the UK few years back when you have to come back after studies.
I just need a change in environment from UK hence my interest in Germany which I am fairly sure I will get the admission. Also i appreciate the free tuition and stipends coming with German studies.
UK allows you to come with family immediately, so I had assumed it was same for Germany.
Thanks for your response. Hi, i was able to ask and as a PhD student you can bring your family here asap but you must make sure your apartment can contain you, your wife and your children!. In addition, your wife doesn't need to learn the language. |

hiplus: Hello Everyone, I am new here and also interested in a masters or PhD program in Germany. Will I be allowed to move there with my wife and kid? They are my dependants and I do not want to leave them behind when travelling. If yes, how much funds do I need to put in the block account for all 3 of us?
Secondly, what is the duration of visa given to a student visa aapplicant?
Finally, is there hope for a permanent resident status after school? I don't want to go to a country that I have to come back home after studies
Thanks in advance for your response. It would be easier and quicker for them to join you if you are a PhD student. I would advise you to go for PhD if your goal is to bring your family over asap. |

marcondo13: My brother, thank you. If I raise the issue of under employment in Canada,it will be as if I am discouraging people from migrating to Canada. Let him ask anyone in Toronto about this saying "the safest place to have an heart attack,is in a taxi cab because it is most likely that your cab driver is a foreign trained medical doctor"!
No matter where you are,as long as you are connected to the system, and you have already signed an MOU with your village people, forget it,things will be alright though it might take time.
In the German speaking world, the only way to earn their respect,is to work twice harder them though, you may be recognized as a quarter as good as them!
If I tell you stories that I heard in the past of how African students were pampered by the university, but they messed up. We are the ones now suffering for their sins,on top of prevalent racism. This is why we are pushing to change the narrative that black African students are useless. How can a student be receiving 500euros monthly, and still refuse to go to class? Then, when the system retaliate, people will be shouting racism!
Make everybody use him head in order not to spoil the chances of those coming behind them! Nigeria don cast, and is now Buhari's cowlony. Any opportunity to learn new skills that comes to you, grab it by the balls and squeeze the hell out of it! Gbam!!!. That's why i said it's not for the lazy ones!. It's common sense that as a black person you have to work twice as much to prove yourself. That's the reality you have to accept. How will someone take semester break here to learn the language and end up not learning the language. When it's time to get a job and German is required, they will blame the system but you had time to learn the language and you didn't!. |

Thegamingorca: True...menial jobs abound. No one is saying we shouldn't sweep carpets or scrub chimneys...it's just that if even after getting a PhD and written loads of publications one can't get a job tailored in his field at a whim despite efforts put in (time and moneywise) then Its ghastly disappointing for that quality education without networking. Moreso disappointing to see the system is deliberately putting that get a job in your field in 18months.
I know IT dude's are hotcake but even that is beside the point.
May God see us through It seems you know one or two people who didn't get a job after studying?, so could you tell me what course they studied?. Living here and with what I've experienced, I know people who study courses that aren't lucrative find it hard to get a job here after studying. And you don't necessarily need networking to get a job here tbh. I personally know a PhD student, who has a job waiting for him after his PhD and he doesn't know how to speak German. And no he's not in the IT field. And his publication isn't even out yet. If you do the right thing, you can get a job in 18 months. By doing the right thing, I mean studying the right course, learning German and having good grades!. |

Most Nigerian students have a job even before graduating here, some got a job in their field while still studying . The only few people I know who had a hard time here getting a job after studying are those who who don't know how to speak German. If you study some courses, you don't necessarily need to know the German language. People in IT can get a job without knowing how to say 'hello' in German. I hardly know anyone who studied here who isn't doing well in their field. It isn't all that rosy though . And that's why it's good to always research before studying any course here, some courses aren't just lucrative in DE. Apply to study in big cities, where getting a job wouldn't be difficult. Don't just apply to any city for the sake of studying here. I'm saying this cause I have a friend who lives in a big city and she made three thousand euros a month after tax working during the holidays. And she made this while doing the so called 'menial jobs'. And oh, she doesn't know how to speak German . I hate when people talk about menial jobs as if it's a bad thing to do. If after graduating and one couldn't find a job or needs to learn German, what's wrong in doing a menial job for the time being?. Most Nigerians here do menial jobs and it's a fact, I don't see anything wrong with it . Nigerian students or even German students themselves do menial jobs while still studying till they are ready to work in their field. If you are not ready to do a menial job at least for once, then Germany isn't for you, sorry!. These menial jobs have enabled men to bring over their wives and children to Germany, so you can't tell me nothing!. Yes it's abroad but it's not meant for you if you are lazy and too proud to do a menial job!. |

Wasn't it on this same german thread that someone's appointment got cancelled by an unknown person who was also on this same thread?, so I won't be surprised if there are scammers here too. |
