stop bragging dude, u not better than everybody ok
Bragging has not been my ailment. If I appear bragful here,I'm sorry.

But one of the greatest challenge I'm facing in real life is how not to brag. Sincerely, nobody finishes from Ife and will not have an element of bragging in him. I'm serious. Just as Harvard grads are known for their bragging around the world,Ife grads have the tendency to brag. Jimoh Ibrahim (NICON GCEO) incidentally is a product of IFE and HARVARD,an explanation for his bragful and loquacious nature(compared to the self-effacing Dangotes,Otedolas etc).

So personally, morally and religiously,I don't like to brag, but the IFE in me overrides all that at times.

My brother in Islam, Salaamualaykum wa rahmatullah. As long as you do not indulge in Zina, it is okay. If you are attracted to them, marry them. The Fulani father will be playing hypocracy if he will not be happy to have you as son in law. Afterall he is married to a Yoruba woman. Imagine if his wife's father was not basing the relationship solely on Islam?

Also, you must understand that marriage is not precipitated on the parents, but the potential spouses alone. Though it is nice to have the parents happy as well. The dowry belongs to the spouse alone and she is the only truly important person in the proposal. And please know that you can marry up to 4, if you meet the condition of marrying more than one.

Just on another note, a lawyer friend was just telling me that only in Islam that a poor man, who was a crimina before can get out of jail and yet marry a successful wife. He was telling about a man who had a rap sheet that is long, yet as he got of jail, he married a photo editor of People magazine, in New York City. The woman already has her own home, and a successful career and was a virgin when they got married. While the guy was a cook in a restaurant, the marriage is going on strong, because they are both believers.

Is there any religion on earth that a relationship between two different people by financial status occur, while the woman is the one higher by a mile? The beauty of Islam is openly expressed.

@Ayinba1: I sent you a YIM. Did you get it from aqeedahfirst@yahoo.com?
Jazakumullahu khaeran my brother for that wonderful advice. May Allah reward you

It is not a sin for Alfa to marry a beautiful girl---alfa no blind now,who no want good thing. Again,I must say I like BEAUTIFUL MUSLIM LADIES. Gaskiya

My formular? Hmmmmm-----sincerely, I don't toast a lady except I want to marry her,not for fun. So the lady will see the seriousness in me right from the first chat. Second, since I don't have any bad ulterior motive,I'm don't fear any lady, even if she's Yar'adua's daughter. Third,I'm a very direct person. Maybe that's why even Hausa girls agree for me.

i think school have nothing to do here, its all about individual thing
i have seen a product a of unilag that you would doubt if he is really a graduate.
fellow nairalander, its not about but about the stuff that you are made off.
Are you saying after spending 5 years in the university, the school will not add any value to you?

Haba,I disagree. Your in-built stuff surely matters, but that is not to say the school will not add any value to you,no matter how small throughout your stay there.

This value-adding comes in two ways:
1,DIRECT VALUE: What you learn in classroom. Your core academics(tutorials, assignments, research etc)
2,INDIRECT VALUE:What you learn by interacting with other students.(debates/arguments in hostels, interactions with others,campus/departmental politics, mere following events on campus, reading releases,religious/social activities etc)

So it is the combination of these VALUE ADDING/LEARNING processes that makes a school, and schools differ here.

I finished from Ife for instance, and I must say what I learned thru the second(INDIRECT) source helps me more than what I learnt in classroom.

But no matter how small, one will surely learn something positive during his stay in school.

There is also the issue of potential. You may have the stuff in-built(potential) in you,but the school may not offer you a great ground to show and develop the stuff you are made of. For example,if OAU student unionism had not been vibrant, maybe Femi Falana would not have been able to maximize his potential. A school can make/break your potential.

All said,I'll say while your stuff is very important, school surely helps you develop and improve that stuff. But the degree of POTENTIAL/STUFF POLISHING varies from school to school, and this is the basis for saying one school is better than the other.

Assalamu alaikum,

I'm a Yoruba guy from Kwara state, in my mid-20s. I had all my education in the South before going to serve in a state in the North West. But I don't know how I became so attracted to Hausa girls. Before a lady can catch my attention in the first place, she should not only be Muslim, but also cover her head at least i.e use scarf minimum. So no matter how beautiful a lady is,If she doesn't cover her head, she can't catch my attention.I must admit I like beautiful girls but most beautiful girls I came across in School were not the type that cover their heads, and that pissed me off.

But on getting to the North, seeing, for the first time, stunningly beautiful girls that are not only Muslims but also cover their heads,I became attracted to them.

Great Ife,we are still leading.I hope they will not rig this by mobilizing people to come and vote for Lag. I pity UI,almost out of contention. Why now? But UI is Nigeria's premier University now? Has it lost its reputation? What's happening now?

People are making my head swell here as an Ife Alumnus. These praises are just too much.

Sincerely I just thank God I went to this school, because i can't imagine not being part of this respect, glory, fame, reputation.I now know the reason why some people prefer to write JAMB 10 times just because they want to gain admission into OAU,even though other schools are giving them admission!

Being an Ife grad I don't think I'm eligible to comment,as requested by the thread starter. But I'll try to be as objective as possible,

Hmmmmmm, if there were just UI,Ife and Lag in Nigeria, which one will I go huh

Hmmmmmm, I like the three schools, and sincerely, these are the 3 Universities I can go in Nigeria, with due respect to Unilorin,ABU,UNN and other respected Unis. I like to be respected alot and I think OAU,UI,Lag and maybe UNN and ABU are the schools that can me respect. In other words, being a product of these schools, people respect you prima facie, unless you mess up.UNN is highly reverred in the East, just as ABU is the King of the North, but I still can't choose these schools ahead of OAU,UI or Lag lai lai. Thank God,I never had admission problem that could have frustrated me to go schools second-rate schools. I wrote UME once(2000 in SSS3) and got admission into OAU. I know cases of friends that had to go to Unilorin, against their will, after trying Ife 3,4 times.

All said, Ife is my choice, followed by Unilag and UI in that order. UI is a school one can be proud of anywhere, but they are too conservative for my liking. I'm not a social person but I like Unilag because it would have exposed me more.
Unilag products,I must admit, are very sharp and well-informed. I'm currently working in one of Nigeria's most respected oil companies, and I had worked in an investment banking institution before, and I must admit that Unilag products I have met are very sharp, exposed and well-informed,although they may not as brilliant as those of us from Ife and other schools.

Ife is an all-round institution. It's like a mini-world.Unlike Lag,that the rich rule, the brilliant rule in Ife.People don't look at the car you drive, but at your GP. Hammed Shittu and Deji Akere were popular on campus when I was in school because of their GPs. In Ife,the children of the rich and poor mix;hardly any discrimination. Ife students will never tolerate injustice;they know their right, hence the frequent aluta. Ife radicalism produced the likes of Femi Falana,Fred Agbaje,Bamidele Aturu and other radical lawyers.

On the labour market scene,I think I can also say much here. Ife grads are known for leading tests and interviews. In all humility,I want to add that I led the tests of these companies when I wrote them(Vetiva,IBTC,Oando). As for Vetiva,I was the joint top scorer with another Ife guy. .Modesty does not demand I state all these feats but I just can't help it.In Interviews however,I think Unilag grads perform better, due to their sharpness, exposure and information. Also here,I think interviewers respect Ife grads. The DMD of IBTC,Sola David Borha, while interviewing me, was alarmed when she knew I finished from Ife.
Also,I have had red carpet treatments many occasions just because I was an Ife product. During service, other corps members look at those of us from Ife as if we were from another planet, panting in awe and over-respecting us. sincerely,I feel flattered at times. One guy was even lying he finished from Ife(knew, but can't recall the school he actually went) but I didn't want to embarrass him.

If I'm to go for undergraduate study again,I'll choose Ife again, but If masters,I think Unilag will do for me,even though I don't plan to do my masters in Nigeria.

P.S. With the Doras,Soludos,Okonjo Iwealas(UNN) and Gabriel Oyibos,Shamsudeen Usmans,El-Rufais,almost of half of state governors in Nigeria,(ABU),I respect those two schools as well, but can't go there.

Yes, Yaya Toure, Essien, Feindounho and Muntari are all better midfielders than Mikel, although Mikel is a delight to watch than some of them, but these midfielders(especially Essien and Muntari) contribute to the overall performance of their teams than Mikel. Diarra at Lyon was also a great midfielder but he has lost form and can't be rated as one of Africa's best MFs at the moment. So also is Appiah. He hasn't played much recently due to injuries so he can't be rated.

3.Muntari
4.Feindounho

Having June/July batch is only a wishful thinking, which is far from realistic. The 2007/2008 batch B will not leave unitil August/September.Discharging them in June will mean they would have served for only 8 months, and at the same time, making them to complete their full term wil mean two sets of batch B will exist together, which is unreasonable.

I dont see any batch coming in June. What for, after batches A1 and A2 already in service this year? September/October is your peiod,so pls wait.

Christianity Etc › Re: Olabowale, 4 U by Jarus(m): 4:39pm On Feb 26, 2008
MC Usman:
Let me give an insight before a more elaborate explanation would be provided by Olabowale.

"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts etc)". [Surah 24:31]
"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the woman of the believers to bring down over themselves (part) of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known (as free respectable women) and not be abused. And ever is Allaah Forgiving and Merciful." [The Great Book 33:59]

The hijab is way of protecting the decency, dignity and chastity of women. With the equipment of the female with an instinctive attraction and a strong natural passion that tend to attract mutual desire from both sex. In an attempt to limit inmorality, Isl'am has filled in all the gaps and possibilities that could lead to any sinful act through the Hijab, thus providing protection for men and women from all factors of seduction and lust. Christian nuns cover their hair out of modesty. The hijab is all about modesty, Thus Isl'am, as do all other revealed religions, prohibits adultery as well as all forms of licentiousness and ways that tend to lead towards them.

All'ah's wisdom has also ordained that the physical and psychological construction of the woman should carry elements that enable her to attract and be attracted by the man. Women should avoid male gatherings except on the grounds of necessity. In your own case, a musical concept can not be term as a necessity, however, in such cases they are expected to observes the limits of the Isl'amic code on social life.

Isl'am has set its codes for the woman as well as all the other relevant, instructions and rules to guard her femininity The real issue is not whether a woman is wearing a hijab or not but a decent, unrevealing manner of dress. Note: The flexibility of Isl'am allows the woman the option of covering her face or not.

As regrad your second question, i don't seem to understand the concept "circular song".
1.Great answer

Also,I will advise router to get Olabowale's email and phone no and have a better discussion with him off-nairaland as regards his choice of music as profession.

On the other issue, not wearing Hijab by a mature lady is a very serious sin.But Olabowale will be able to tell you more.
