http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1467744.ece

For the first time I'm seeing ManU,Chelsea,NUFC and other EPL club fans across and beyond UK uniting. Read thru their comments now and saw how they unanimously saluted and paid tribute to Martins.

J UNIT:
mikel's exclusion from squad is the same as cesc fabregas or cristiano ronaldo's exclusion, it's an insult for them to be seen in such a competition,
Pls stop mouthing this sh*t. Ronaldinho and Drogba personally volunteered(and literally begged) their countries to include them in their olympic squads!!!  How can Mikel be bigger than olympic. If Mikel is bigger than this competition, what will we say of Messi? I don't agree C. Ronaldo and Fabregas too are bigger than olympics. The only difference I see in Ronaldo/Fabregas' and Ronaldinho/Messi/Drogba's contrasting decision is LIKENESS for their countries, what you call patriotism. All of these players have proved themselves at bigger stages, so they have nothing to prove, professionally speaking, by going to olympics. If any of those players win MVP, for example, it will  not call for serious celebration. Messi has been world's No 2 in the past, Ronnie No 1 twice and others have made the list of top ten players in the world at various times. So unlike a player like Mikel, there si no doubta bout their abilities. But they offered themselves for their olympic team,I think, purely because of the love of their countries and not for any personal benefits. In essence, Ronaldinho/Messi/Drogba's decisions only show they love their countries more than  Ronaldo/Fabregas.

PS: I think drogba has dropped his decision to go to the olympics.

The news that Siasia has named his final list without uche dealt me a big blow. I had believed Uche will be our answer to Messi,Babel etc,but Uche was not relaesed by Getafe, leaving us with a bunch untested, though unpredictable ,players(minus Osaz).

Education › Re: University With Most Wahala And Frustration by Jarus(m): 3:41pm On Jul 22, 2008
I have heard about how frustrating Unilorin is from friends and brothers. Unnecessary stress arising from superfast semester, poor welfare condition and lecturers' sadism. An average Unilorin student/graduate will easily attribute his graduating with 2-2 or Third Class with those factors.

Well, I agree superfast semester and poor welfare conditions can affect academic performance, and ultimately what one graduates with, but as regards this sadism argument, I see it as more of IMAGINED than REAL.

Sadist lecturers are everywhere, not only in Unilorin.

I think consistently unimpressive academic results(very few First class every session) in Unilorin is attributable to:
1,POOR WELFARE CONDITION ON CAMPUS(No water, electricity and students dare not talk),
2,FLAWED ADMISSION POLICY( I know people that scored as low as 88 in UME but went to do Unilorin Remedial, passed and gained admission.)
3,DENIAL OF RIGHTS: I have heard from my brothers and friends how they had lecturers just few hours to exam; how exam dates were brought forward, affecting students' plan for exams etc and you dare not talk
4, WIDESPREAD PESSIMISTIC MENTALITY: In Unilorin, the first orientation a stale student will give you as a jambite is 'forget about 1st Class, they won't give you'.
This statement annoys me. Please nobody gives First Class, you earn it. Your final CGPA is a record of your performance in over 50 courses friom 1st to final year, with different lecturers taking you different courses, and in few cases a lecturer taking you 2 to 3 courses. Tell me, will all the lecturers come together and say 'Mr. A  give Student X E in your course, Dr B, give him D in your own course, ' and at the end of the end they will set what you graduate with, and do the same for all the students. This is most unthinkable and I can confidently say it's impossible. So please Unilorin students factors listed above contribute to your consistently poor performance. No lecturer is fixing what you graduate with!!!

The opposite is the case in Ife. Almost 24/7 electricity and water supply, adequate hostels(80% of students stay on campus), very serene academic environment, irrepressible student unionism that prompt authorities to give students their rights(1 Lecture-free week pre-exams is students' right and the slightest infringement on it has spelt ALUTA in the school in the past) optimistic mentality, ever-interesting campus politicking that even non-politically inclined students find refreshing and entertaining, etc. Why won't students pass! Ife is just ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE MADE EASY. The only stress is abundant assignments,7:00 lectures in some departents etc.
Islam › Re: Muslims Please Beware Of These So-called Islamic websites! by Jarus(m): 9:03am On Jul 17, 2008
Salam alaikum brothers and sisters,

May Allah reward Babs for this humble work. These are sites that some of these Christians find their 'facts' from. And many unsuspecting Muslims also fall prey of these sites.

This is why as Muslims we are expected to have not only the basic knowledge, but also further knowledge[especially on aqeedah(creed)] so that we can be able to discern the truth from falsehood no matter who is saying it.

While doing some research on the internets some time ago I came across some information from some supposed Islamic websites, but with the little knowledge I had I was able to identify that these were fake websites. One website was trying to say there is temporary marriage in Islam. This is obviously one of the deviant beliefs and practices of Shiites, yet nothing showed on the website that it was a Shiite website(If I knew it was a Shiite website,I wouldn't have gone there in the first place to source for info). But seeing that devilish article,I closed the site knowing it was a fake website obviously promoted by Shiites. Unfortunately I have read one Christian nairalander here claiming there is the practice of temporary marriage in Islam. He could have got such satanic info from such websites.

I have also come across another 'Islamic' website that says Islam supports anal sex. The website was using the hadith that says you can approach your wife from the front or rear. Meanwhile scholars have explained that the hadith means you can approach your wife's private part from the front or back(different styles). Both involves penetrating the V but from different sides. Whether front or back, the penetration is only for the V. But unfortunate these evil people interprete this to mean approaching from the back means penetrating through anus. But alhamdulilah, with my little knowledge of Islam having read and heard reputable and trusted Islamic scholars explain this hadith in the past,I knew the website was evil.

So brothers and sisters, this is how knowledge can be of help in sieving authentic Islamic internets from fake ones. I recommend Islamqa.com to all as a reliable website run by trusted scholars like Sheikh Saalih Munajid and other highly knowledgable sholars.

Wa alaikum salam,

I have also known this for some years now. They truly have deviant beliefs that are capable of nullifying one's Islam.
In fact I learnt Saudi authorities don't allow them to come for hajj, so those of them that went hid their Ahmadi belief.
I have also read books and listened to lectures of trusted, reputable scholars that pronounced them kuffar, and I found their reasons convincing.

Finally, the Prophet(PBUH) has said that the Ullamahs(scholars) will not be unanimous on an issue except it is the the truth. In 1978(or around that time), orthodox Islamic scholars around the world converged and unanimously pronounced them KUFFAR. By that hadith,I believe these scholars are right.

Practically,I have also come across some of the writings/speeches of their leaders that confirm the glaringly de-islamizing beliefs they hold.

P.S: Most of them don't pray behind non-Ahmadiyya imam. They have their own mosques, don't marry non-Ahamdis,etc. Anyway, I also can't pray behind anybody I know is Ahmadi.

Islam › Kanoute Saves Spain Mosque by Jarus(op): 3:34pm On Jul 13, 2008
Assalamu Alaikum,

Perhaps we may learn some thing from this,

Kanoute spent what was close to his one year wage to save a Seville Mosque from being taken over,as users cannot afford the cost. Kanoute was appealed to and he saved his brothers and sisters from the situation. Only few people can do that. To Allah belongs the glory.

I love Kanoute for Allah's sake.

When I saw the title of this thread, before I opened it, the first thing that came to my mind was DUNDEE UNITED.Not unexpectedly, earlier posters have mentioned it. The name sounds very funny. When we were young DUNDEE used to be another name for DIDINRIN(fool). So anytime our anybody abused us with DUNDEE,we used to cry and report to the elderly ones.
Not until I grew up and came across Dundee as a city in Scotland, that was the interpretation of the word as kids.

Did I hear somebody mention ARSENAL as funny/wierd? Haba, what a fine name!!! I'm an article writer;so anytime I'm writing and I need to use ARMOURY/ARSENAL,I always prefer to use ARSENAL. I just like that word!!!

Is Obafemi Martins a muslim too?
Martins is a Muslim. His mother is Alhaja. Complete sports(or is it Soccer Star) once ran a feature report on his lifestyle, and during a visit t Martins personal house, his brother, Ladi, also a footballer, answering one of the questions, said " You can see, we have many drinks in our fridge, but we don't have alcohol. We are Muslims,we don't take it.'' Also sometime two years ago CS or SS reported during one of Eagles' pre-match camps that MARTINS did not fast because of training but Sani Kaita,Ayila and Taiwo fasted. If he was not a Muslim, they wouldn't have made a story out of his not fasting. After all,Christian needed not fast during Ramadan. I however doubt whether he practises but I'm sure he's a Muslim.
Also few weeks ago, he was reported to be the BEST MAN at a Nikka(Muslim marriage) in Lagos when other Eagles were in camp for our S/Africa match. A Christian definitely can't be the best man in a Nikka(Muslim wedding).

Yeah,I'm being reminded of more and more Muslim players. Maybe I should extend it to a 23-man list as if they are going for a tournament.
By the way,can Benzema start ahead of Kanoute and Anelka? I don't think so.

Ibime:
What of Karim Benzema, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Hamit Altintop, Turan Arda, Ali Al-Habsi, Habib Beye etc?
Yeah, you just reminded me that majority,if not all, of the Turkish team are Muslims.
But Ibrahimovic? I have never come across anything that says he's a Muslim, wait let do do some research on google

Yeah,I'm back, I read he's a Muslim. Here's one of the articles I came across:

Source: Wikipedia, answers.com, answers.yahoo forum, Farid and Ismadi Ishak. Here goes:

Nicloas "Bilal" Anelka - I didn't know this until Madi told me. No wonder he moved to Fenerbahce, Turkey. Pics of him visiting a Manchester mosque is easily available.
Zinedine Yazid Zidane - A non-practiced Muslim. Three-time FIFA World Player of the Year.
Bruno Metsu - Former Senegalese National Team Coach. Converted when he was at Senegal. Now coach of Al-Ittihad.
Franck Ribery - as alerted by Ayid Rabbani (Farid le tuh). Converted in 2002. Read the Du'a before taking a free kick against Korea recently. Married to long time Moroccan gf.
Phillipe Troussier - former famous French player. Famously coached Japanese National Team. Lives in Morocco. Changes his name to Omar. Wife Dominique now Amina. Adopted 2 local Moroccan children.
George Weah - Liberian football great. Unsuccesful candidate for 2005 Liberian presidency. Born a Muslim. Went to Muslim children school. Converted to Christianity in the name of his grandmother who raised him. Later reconverted?
Robin van Persie - Arsenal and Holland starlet winger. Married a Morroccan but never talk about his religious position in public.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Has tatoos on both arms but Papa Sefik is a Bosnian-Muslim immigrant and his Mom is of Catholic Croat. Swedish star striker but dubbed 'overrated' by Martin O'neill.
Kolo, Yaya and Ibrahim Toure - Ivorian footballers. Devout muslims.
Rami Shaaban - Former Arsenal Swedish keeper who is of Egyptian descent. Mom is English.
Frederick Kanoute - Malian striker. No wonder he celebrates by reciting the du'a after scoring goals. Bought a mosque in Seville.
Mehmet Scholl - German veteran Bayern Munich star midfielder who was denied call-up to the 2006 Fifa World Cup Germany National Team although being recommended by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge after coming back superbly from a long-standing injury. Has Turkish passport.
Khalid Boulahrouz - Dutch national defender. Born in Nederlands but of Moroccan descent. Nicknamed Khalid der Kannibale (The Cannibal because of his ability to 'eat up' oppositions). Trying to emulate Mohammed Allach (Muslim-Dutch football great).

Others: Bakari Sagna, Ibrahima Sonko, Armand Traore, Sulleyman Ali Muntari,

i think Fredrick Kanoute should make the first team because i would start him before Diouf. Also, Phillip Christenval of Fulham should make the bench
I actually forgot Kanoute. He deserved a spot on First 11. I have since corrected my team.

As for Christenval, I never knew he was a Muslim until you mentioned it. I did some research on google now and confirmed.

I have also read in many fora that Van Persie is a Muslim but I have had a concrete evidence or any formal article to that effect. But I have read posts from people on some Islamic/sporst fora that he is a Muslim.

I think Diarra and Sissoko also deserve a place on the list, even if it is reserve. Maybe I'll extend it to 23-man list.

i read this thread with so much interest and cudnt help laffing. i knew before reading d posts that i would come across enough beefs for UNILAG most especially from OAU guys. (just d same way people beef Manchester United for no good reason oda that they are always winning. Very ridiculous!) Honestly, i saw it coming, and guess what? i wasnt disappointed smiley. Still can't comprehend why people cannot be humble enough to admit that UNILAG is indeed a blessing to a country like ours still trying to catch up with developed countries. Nigeria needs more schools like UNILAG to produce not only brilliant chaps but also smart and well rounded ones for that matter who can network and seal deals because they are socially awake in addition to their being intelligent. Of what use is your "difficult bookwormish" culture when u can't package ursef socially? It's a jet age and some folks still want to remain in the stone age huh doing things the hard way when it should be the smart way huh i would rather settle for a "funkified and smart bookwormish" environment. u can have it both ways u knw? wink.

Nways, here's my take on some of the comments posted.

[

A: Very wrong. Simply put: the only edge UNILAG has over OAU in addition to every oda thing is the social life. biliv me, OAU is a good school but that is not enough.

A: Nways, other guys can give u that respect just as u guys from Ife can't stop giving UNILAG guys respect deep down in your heart. i really enjoyed d attention during service. wink

A: Did u say third class? now i know u are not being honest. most employers will not touch u with a ten foot pole if you're a third class irrespective of your school

A: please tell them ooo, it's a jet age and the in-thing is "edutainment". it's education+socials

A:i beg, no streamline the exposure to just social glamour. we are exposed in all ramifications. still think d exposure doesnt count? pally wake up, ever wondered why parents nowadays strive to send there kids to great schools like d British secondary schools and d likes. u think its d book only? it's a combo of books and exposure. You said Ife is d real deal. so,what is d real deal? Aluta? your anthem? or your beautiful campus(which i admit is fine)? still LMAO,

A: You see what am talking 'bout. is it about votes? so much beef for LAG. Nways, u can go and mobilise market women to come and "vote" for Ife. I can understand, u guys need am badly grin

A: my lips are sealed lipsrsealed

A: Did u say oppressed? just because u recited your "assembly rhymes" like pry school kids? we just cudnt stop u from displaying your uncultured and animalistic lifestyle embarassed u know, just playing the big brother role wink as a host with a large heart. Besides u needed to see d way some Ife guys were scrambling for empty containers of UNILAG bottled water as if they just saw the 8th wonder of the world shocked. Am sure that is was d first time they will see a school with its own bottled water when its actually nothing to us in LAG. i really felt embarrassed. u see what exposure can do?

A: Very funny, a school that is well respected as far as exposure is concerned. Please say something else,

A: That they celebrated the victory isnt enough for u to say they were trying to oppress u guys. gosh!!! must u always display your inferiority? it's just one of those things that goes with the spirit of football matches when u win, most especially in the finals.

A: that is true. most of them tried Lag and dint succeed. now they are hating,

A: GBAM!!!

A: This is more like it.

A: Why would i want to do an M.Sc for that matter in a school like Ife considering the fact that i finished from LAG? Pally am not thinking of doin an M.Sc in Naija. It has to be UK. but if i av to do it in Naija, its Lag or nowhere. i have tasted light. Cant go back to darkness.

A: what else do u expect from people who are not well informed.

A: Dont mind them, they are just hating, i av said it before and i will say it again. They respect LAG deep down in their hearts but beeef no go gree them admit.
A: need i say more,
Nairaguy, o'lenu gan! O'lenu ku. With this harangue, I cannot but conclude that you are jealous of Ife? Or are you one of those people that ran berserk because they couldn't secure admission into Ife? For your information, I had filled UNILAG in my UME form in 2000 before my brother(himself a Unilag product) advised that I should erase it. His reason: Even with 300 in UME,admission is not guaranteed in Unilag, because it is for the HIGHEST BIDDER,not the MOST BRILLIANT. I took corrector fluid and changed it to Ife. Today, one of the happiest things that have happened to me is passing thru Ife. I can't imagine not being part of this ovation.

sherry lo:
Preach for you or pray for you or preach to you?I don't get it.
He needs both. Let's preach to him, and remember him in our prayers too.
PHEMOUR:
its always tough where i work, i don't pray. Any Alfa please should preach to me.
Alhamdulah that you know that praying is uncomprisingly important and being busy is no excuse.
I have understood your situation because I had been in similar situation before. I finished from Ife,and alhamdulilah, being an OAU- MSSN-trained person,I know the gravity of leaving Salat. I have also read many hadeeths that emphasize the GRAVITY of not praying Salats at their right times. In Ife we used to come out of lectures to say our prayers.Even some of us used to cut our answers short and submit our exams scripts,if spending the whole three hours in exams hall (12-3 papers in particular) will make us miss our Salat at their right times. So you can imagine the priority we gave saying Salats when we were in school. I personally used to feel like crying anytime conditions made me combine two prayers.

But even with all this Ife grooming,I faced a challenge of my life when I started working in an Investment banking institution in VI Lagos shortly after I finished school. This organization, even though has a Muslim as Deputy MD, is not only irreligious but also de-Islamizing. In addition to the DMD, I met two other Muslims who were senior staff. But I was surprised to hear that one of these my ogas used to go for Juma'at before but has stopped. The other was a lady and you will never know she was a Muslim.

The company almost took away my Islam from me too. I soon became somebody combining four Salats at home in the night, and I get home 10pm on the average. At times I would have become so tired that I will just collapse in bed on getting home and wake up 2midnight to say yesterday prayers. Soon I developed the habit of lying my way out of office at around 4pm and leave for the nearby mosque to say Zuhr and Asr together, and if I closed by 7.30 go straight to that mosque and say Monghrib and Isha before going home. My Juma'at became also irregular. Still having some theoretical iman in mind, I kept asking myself: What if I die like this? Is this how I'll live the rest of my life? But Salat is the most important thing, without it every other deed is like pouring water in basket. Even if I use all my salaries for sadaqa,it can't compensate for Salat? I was always unhappy at work, and my performance was even affected. It was a period of great trial for me.

Alhamdulilah,I have left the company and not being able to say my salat at their right times was one of the reasons I left. By Allah's mercy, I'm now in an Oil company that is very Islam-friendly.We have a mosque in our highrise. I now say my prayers at their right times. we even have a Muslim community. We even have a Muslim community in the office. In fact we just had a sendforth programme for our brothers that are moving two hours ago. We all left our offices for more than one hour after asr prayer to organize the programme. One of the Muslim brothers we sent was an Executive Director. I just like this company. I believe it's Allah's answer to my long-said prayer that I should get a job in a company where I will be able to practise my deen. I'm a happy person back, and it's positively affecting my performance.

So my brother, know that Salat is the first thing that will be checked on the day of resurrection. Pls accord it uncomprising importance. Squeeze out of your time to pray. If you have any Muslim in your office that prays, speak with him.If your organization is a multi-branch type, you may seek posting to the North where it is easier to pray, even in office.Looking for another company where you will be able to say your Salats is not a bad idea either. Remember your salat, and not your salaries,is what will save you on the day of resurrection. This life is too short for us to compromise the hereafter for worldly gains.

May Allah make it easy for you.

innovative:
I have been following this thread for sometime and what I discovered is that most people that have violated the rule of this thread are from Ife. We've read of how brilliant they are, how sharp they are but I think a brilliant graduate should read instructions/rules before answering questions or expressing opinion. So why are our brilliant Ife grads blowing their trumpets in ridicule of themselves. Remember, people's opinion about you counts more than yours. So if the world says you are great, then you are; not until you say it by yourself.
Good post if done with sincerity, but if done out of envy, na u sabi.
That said, even most of the neutral posters went for Ife. Ife rules!!! Look up and see the margin now,Ife no dey carry last. Anywhere, anytime,OAU shines!!!

tkb417:
people are talking and Uniben too dey talk?
see wahalana cultism and rape we dey talk about?
go siddon and shoot your Gun. na Ekpoma be your mate
I don't think it's out of place for Benin too to talk. I respect them as well, even though I belong to the school of thought that believe IT'S EITHER IFE,LAG,UI OR I STAY AT HOME.
Webometric rating has given them gut.

Danasco:
By your question,Do you mean that these 3 university are the best in the country?I beg to disagree with you please. What about Nsuka, Maiduguri, BUK, Sokotto ect?
The 3 university u mentioned might be the oldest and one of the best, but certainly not the best. I can bet u with my dignity that other schools like the ones i mentioned are doing well and up to standard. Danfodio university, Sokoto is one of the best unuiversity in Nigeria. In terms of culture, academic discipline, learning environment etc, they posses these in abundance.
If u doubt me, please take a trip and see for yourself. You may want to say i schooled there. No, never, and far from that.
I finished serving in Sokoto few months ago and I spent almost the whole of my service year in Sokoto campus(mostly City campus). I had interactions with a lot of Sokoto university undergraduate and PG students. I knew virtually everybody in their Medical school, with the exception of those in clinicals. I was preparing for my ICAN then,so I used to go to their city(Medical)campus to read, and I was so popular that,if not because I don't want to mention my real name on nairaland,I would have said you should go to their city campus and ask of me,and I'm sure 70% of the students know me. That was the extent to which I mixed with them.I still call some of them on phone even till today.

But oga, comparing Sokoto University to Ife, is comparison abuse.I will not say insult.
That is talking about quality of students and graduates, academic standard and international recognition.Sokoto university is not even rated in webometric world university rating. Don't be surprised if you go to a place like Lagos and you tell somebody you finished from Danfodio University, and you are told: where is that? I have never heard of that school before?
However I must say I met few students that stand out. An example is one of my friends,Abdul, also a nairalander. This guy can stand any Ife undergrad anytime.I have never met a Hausa boy that versatile, informed and versed. He is part 4 Vet. Medicine student.

However, I will agree with you if you give Sokoto varsity first in terms of peace and morals.
The school prides itself as Nigeria's most peaceful university, and I,being an Ife grad, dare not challenge them.
Also, in terms of morals, I will rate the school high.I'm a Muslim(a moralist too) and the school is really trying in terms of preservation of morals.

But ranking Sokoto varsity in the same class with Ife,Lag and UI in terms of academic standard, is ASSOCIATION(or is it patriotism?) taken too far.
lilvonz:
oau is a stupid school to go. Although i'm there, we lack any form of social life and we suck. grin
Ogbeni, it has been said over and over again that social life is just average in Ife. If you prioritize Social life ahead of academic excellence and standard, better go to Unilag.
Sports › Re: Nigeria's Greatest Soccer Star? by Jarus(m): 4:57pm On Jul 05, 2008
This was the exact topic I had been thinking of starting for about five days now.

Anyway,I think it's a straight contest between Kanu and Jay-Jay.
In CAF list of Africa's greatest 50,Kanu was number 8,and JJ 12th.
One South African magazine rated JJ 8th greatest player of all time from Africa. It was a Top 10 list, and JJas the only Nigerian that made the list.
In Pele's list, only JJ appeared too.
So one can say JJ is more recognized.
But personally,I'll give Kanu.

However, the above is based on what I'll call WORLD CLASS STARDOM.

In terms of USEFULNESS/SERVICE to the national team,I think Rashidi did more than any other player. His 37 goals in Eagles colours is still unmatched. Again,by this criteria,I don't know who to give second position btw Kanu and JJ. Between 2000-2006 JJ was literally the only player carrying the Eagles. He single-handed delivered the bronze to Nigeria in Tunisia 2004. Kanu,on the other hand, has saved Eagles in critical situations in the past, especially as Super-Sub. Honourable mention to Aghahowa(2002,2004 ANCs)

dayokanu:
@Hannibal,
Eagles will beat The English national team even if they play in Buckingham Palace. Is it not that Chief Riot ferdinand who would mark Yakubu? Remember their recent meetings. Martins against West Brown, With Scoot carson in Post or Robinson. Uche would dribble them like crazy.

We don't even need a keeper because Rooney can never score. tongue tongue The last time we played, England forced our Opabunmi & Obiorah led side to a goalless draw FACT!!! tongue tongue tongue
I agree. Eagles are better than English national team.
Our strike force(Yak,Martins,Uche,Kanu) can rip apart their defence, even with Terry and Rio.

Yobo,Shittu,Taiwo and Ordiah-manned defence will surely give their Rooney and Owen-led attack a tough time.

LFJ:
I look at all your comments and notice that most of us are not sincere. What we are doing is just to look at the name of the school and say something. Say something either because the school is in our state or will attended the school. My comment will base on what I have seen. If am to give pass mark to any university in Nigeria today it has to be Unilag, let us look at website of Unilag and see the quality of information you can get from their site. Unilag is respected outside because other institution find it easy to connect with them in term of getting information and know more about their student. How are u going to compare institution that can provide u information about their student within an hour to institution that will never respond to just simple information. I was not privilege to attend any of this university but pass mark goes to Unilag check their site and see many things dt give an institution respect in international arena. apply for transcript, u don't need to be physically present, everything are done on line.
Let give it to them and encourage others to do well.
Webometrics base their ranking majorly on information obtained from school's websites plus other online sources. If your assertion is true,Unilag should be topping Nigerian universities by webometrics rating. But this has not been so. UI,Ife and Uniben have been alternating first position in webometric rating in the lst few years.
Sports › Re: Which European Team Can Eagles Beat? by Jarus(m): 10:38am On Jul 04, 2008
Sincerely,I believe no European team can embarrassingly defeat the Eagles. Forget about their performance in recent games. If not for Uche last-minute penalty loss,Nigeria could have had a historic victory over highly rated Mexico(America). Switzerland lost to Eagles on their home soil. Austria, having fully prepared for Euro, drew with Eagles on their home soil. Yes,Australia beat us.

Our players are also world class. Martins,Mikel,Yak,Uche,Taye Taiwo,Kanu,Yobo would easily make 23 man list of any European country, including France,Spain,Germany and Italy, and England and some of them can even make the first-11 in these countries.

Yes,heaven will not fall if Taiwo faces Torres or Martins/Yakubu faces Canavaro. They have faced them many times in their club assignments. Recall what Uche did to Canavarro in the La Liga two seasons ago. Recall how Uche ran ring around reigning World FOTY, Canavarro two seasons ago. Recall how Yak,then at Boro, embarrassed the highly rated Terry,3 seasons ago. So our players are up to the task on a good day.

Taiwo faced Torres in last year CL, and even scored. Henry,Anelka,Torres, etc are not new to Yobo.

So anyday,I believe Eagles' chance against any of these top European countries is 50-50.It can swing to any side.
