uzzolik: One of the things I said we can copy from you is that you were more organised, when there was a traffic hold up everyone seems to remain quietly on the quieve. No attempt to overtake or use the opposite lane. No use of walkway by motorist , no horning etc. I don't want you to be offensive. Just like you said we produce quarter baked graduates than you. That is your opinion I won't take offence. But being polite we but press your point with facts. Great, what can we learn from you guys? |

uzzolik: I have said you are doing some nice things that we could also copy from you. I think my analysis was generic it was directed to you. It was a general problem. But one thing I have come to realise is that you people have a particular mindset about Nigerians (some of you). I will give you an instant we entered a shop to buy some wears. One of us was bargaining with the shop owner and suddenly the shop owner flared up and was shouting is it not this Nigerians. Nobody told her we are Nigerians. It was not polite. I don't want to believe you are like that. Sorry for the bad experience, majority of kenyans are very friendly by nature. The shop owner may have a bad experience with some of you.. Nigerians have made so many Kenyans to suffer in different dubious ways... you know better. |

Men you really need to be direct, too many paragraphs for one message. No one is dying here just say it as it is,we love it that way.
Africans we have been made to see only negative things from our continent forgetting to enjoy the positive. Our stories have been told by outsiders focusing on the negative more than the positive..
The most important part is to know our weaknesses and work on them as the education minister was saying or even work on our inefficiency. But that should not limit us to be proud of where we have come from because we only have one life to live. It's not celebrating mediocrity but appriciating the strides we have made.
I don't know what is happening in Europe or America but the number of white settlers in the country is increasing at alarming rate.. |

uzzolik: Now you are talking. Remember that both Kenya and Nigeria are developing countries and still have the problems associated with under development hence none of the two will claimed to have an edge. Like I mentioned earlier, some of the distinct features that I notice in Kenya have been expressed by me which of course their are distinct features in Nigeria that also make her or her people unique. But the problems are there on both countries and they glare at your face. What I may do is to pick some items and say what I think is the picture are like in both countries. Waiting for your views and pictures, we can not see the log on our eyes... |

uzzolik: I was only wondering. I observed that the fewer population also helped. I didnt know the predominant religion in Kenya since it was not pronounced unlike in Nigeria where religion and tribalism play major role in political circles. The Kenyan population is handful and manageable.thats why I noticed the system is organised and people obey laws and order. There was a law against carrying cellophine bags. People adhere to it. If you look at the streets they are very neat and I likes the idea of trees on the street. Obeying orders in Kenya is not by choice, fines do work here. Its esier to complay than face the endless penalties either legaly or buying your way out. Christianity being aleading religion for sure majory will always have their way and minory their say, Nigeria the problem come's in cause the split is almost 50-50. Tribalism don't go there I believe we are thesame. Being organised does not depend on numbers but culture of the people... Anyway keep sharing am enjoying... waiting for the pros and cons.. |

kikuyu1: That's the saddest thing! Even here seemingly intelligent Kenyans chose to pretend to believe in Ojinga's myriad follies! Btw,there was a recent documentary on Nyakach water problems. Look WTF THEY ARE?! See the f'tardation inflicting Kisumu county.

200 million dollars and what do they have to show for it? The world laughs at us- with good reason. Instead of urgently implementing a water/irrigation scheme with a fraction of those funds sitting on the largest source of fresh water in the world they celebrate the inauguration (coronation) of a pretend president?! Honestly,you guys,tell me you don't see the slightest irony. I believe pamoja tutaenda mbali kushinda chuki na ukabila, kila jimbo inchini lina shida tofauti tofauti. freshest4live: Jayceon you can also read their comments below the article. Note that the Ghanians also evicted us first in the 60's as they did all Africans. Many lost their businesses and investments, but we were not out for a revenge when they came knocking on our doors as long as there was something for everyone. It only happened later under different circumstances for different reasons which made many remember the wrong they did to us earlier on. If funny how Hundrends of Nigerians are trickling into Nairobi this days.. You can hardly miss a Nigerian in the City.. Hope we will not get where we will have to go the Ghanian way or South African way. |

genieluv: I also want to ask you. Sometime last year i met with a Morrocan here in Nigeria, in Abuja, i think he n his team were on a diplomatic mission over here. ****First of all, what do you think about Morocco (a north african country) joining ECOWAS? What do other north african governments think?
~~~Seconly I also observed that he (the Moroccan) was quite dark skinned for a north african. He was as dark as i am n he told me that many Moroccans n Magrebis are quite as dark as i was. I was quite shocked, cos most north africans i saw on Tv were quite white, how true is this? Apart from the berbers to the far south of the north-african deserts, are there Moroccans or magreb people that are as dark as i am?
>>>Well, here is a picture of me, so u can see my complexion n understand my point. Beautiful, do you have another pic of you minus the filters? |
genieluv: Sorry buh hey, i've been watching Kenyan TV stations on DStv n online sometime now, n i have never seen anything cultural on it.
****Ednited i think is not fully aware how much Nigerians display culture enough. I think we r the most traditional africans (especially in the clothing aspect). This is what a Nigerian parliament looked like in the 60s n today. You hardly see our political leaders n lawmakers on Western clothes since independence. Always on traditional clothes. I have hardly seen that in other African countries. Is that the same case in ET? Same to Kenyan Parliament since indepence.Genie I tried to explain this before.. we never had real traditional cloths.. |
arinzeejikonye: To you this is groundbreaking, but to Nigeria it is not new,
Nigeria have done this as far back as 1972 in university of ibadan, before Africa got accustomed to the Internet,
It took Kenya about almost 50 doctors to perform this, for about 23 hours and you don't want us to hear a word, when that of University of maiduguri performed same feet for just 12 hours by a couple of doctors in 2011, Did you see Nigerians jumping like monkeys in the safari?
Mind you the twins shared vital organs too including liver, intestines, and so on,
As a matter of fact apart from this being done in 1972 in ibadan,
Other institutions in enugu, Lagos, etc have done these feet,
In health Nigeria beats Kenya hands down
https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/sunday/index.php/feature/3134-inside-unimaids-breakthrough-with-conjoined-twins-surgery
Initially, there were rumours in the town that only one of the twins would survive because of the complexity of the situation.But after meticulous team work and endless prayers from well-wishers, the process turned out to be a huge success.Probably that was why all the doctors were elated, including dozens of medical students who watched the “miracle” via a television. “We have succeeded in separating the two male conjoined twins,” the lead surgeon, Dr Auwal Abubakar said to us. According to him, “in medical terms, we call their situation iskiophagus (joined at the pelvis). This type of conjunction is the most complex, because their lives were conjoined. Both of them have a small intestine, but shared one single large intestine,” Dr Abubakar said. “We are grateful to God for making this possible…we are really grateful,” he said, admitting that the credit goes to many people. According to him “This is not only pediatric surgery, it is a team work. We had pre - surgery conferences together with other specialists, and discussed several investigations. Apart from the liver that was conjoined, we had predicted almost all the abnormalities we found in the babies. “Plastic and reconstructive surgeons played vital roles in reconstruction. Orthopedic surgeons helped us in separating the bones, theatre nurses also assisted in their own field. anathesialogist kept the babies alive and asleep for close to thirteen hours. Our engineers in the hospital contributed immensely, because they placed us on generator and we didn’t have power failure,” Dr Auwal remaked. He also gave credit to the medical students in the hospital. “About nine of them donated the blood facilityused for the operation.” He said the operation took a long time because of the complications inherent in the systems of the babies. “We had to divide the large intestine into two… we also separated the intestine of the first baby, and joined it with the distal part of the bowel that goes into the anus. We then used the other half of the large intestine to construct an anus for the second baby. The process was really complicated,” the surgeon added. He said as a result of the amendments made in the body of the twins, one of the three legs which they were delivered with, had been severed and they would now have one leg each, and that one of them will grow up as a female. “The two babies shared a single male external genital; as such we left the genital to one of them, because it is much easier to construct a female external genital than that of male. We have actually explained this to the parents, and we are going to raise one of the babies as a female,” he said. Asked whether Hussain whose name will be changed to Hussaina (female) will give birth later in life, Dr Auwal said no. “She will function normally, but will not reproduce, because there are no reproductive organs, we have removed the testicles.” He said the children will be kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for convalescence. “This is not the last procedure of the operation. We would have to do other things to tidy up other problems. We would much later go into the phase of rehabilitation, like getting them an artificial limb,” he said. He said this is the second time that this type of operation was done in Nigeria. “The first was in Ibadan in 1972, but the conjoined twins had four legs. Many other pediatric centers in Zaria, Ibadan, Ife, Enugu and other places, had separated other types of conjoined twins, but this is the second time that this particular type has been done,” Dr Auwal revealed. Asked about the factors responsible for giving birth to conjoined twins, Dr Auwal smiled. “Well, nobody will really tell you the cause of giving birth to conjoined twins, but the case is more common in Africa and Asia. Usually when you have twins, they split into two during their formation, but this one did not.” “It was one of our students who was then in Ningi that saw the mother with the children, and recognized the deformity early. He immediately referred them to us and contacted me for discussion. “We deliberately delayed the operation because the chance of survival if you separate them testicles early is 20 per cent and if done it at that (about one year old) they have 80 per cent chance of survival. This is because, if the conjoined twins are bigger, they would be able to tolerate the anesthesia better, and will stand post operation stress. Their tissues would be bigger, and you will be able to identify them much easier,” Dr Auwal said. He praised the management of the hospital for giving all the desired support. “The management of UMTH had waived all the medical bills of the twins because of the status of the parents. There is no way they could foot the bills of the operation, including all the tests and examinations,” he said. Dr Auwal said the efforts put in by all who took part in the operation will not be in vain. “We think they have good chances of survival even though this is not the last of the procedures of the operation. We would have to do other things to tidy up other problems, because…there similar reported cases around the world and the children are doing very well,” he said. He assured that if given the necessary support, doctors at the hospital have the potentials of doing even more complex operations in the future. Binta, the mother of the twins, said the separation of the twins was the greatest thing that happened to her, and expressed gratitude to God. “When they were ‘gummed’ together, managing their life was very difficult. They had only one anus and you cannot tell who wants to excrete. “Sometimes one will like to sleep and the other might not be in the mood to sleep. I therefore have to cajole all of them to sleep…it was really an experience that I will live to remember,” she said. Binta said she had given birth five times and had never gone to hospital for ante natal care. “I gave birth to all of them at home, through the help of local birth attendants,” she said. Her husband, Isa, said he never thought his twins will have a semblance of normal life. “As a poor man, it was really, very tasking taking care of the twins. The only big support we got was from a former chairman of Ningi local government area, who gave us N50,000 to buy food for the kids,” he said. Isa said since that time, there was no tangible financial assistance, and therefore called on well meaning Nigerians to help them. “The parents really need help because they would remain in the hospital with the separated twins for some time, and you know what this means,” a nurse at UMTH observed. For me, the adventure at the operation theatre was a worthwhile and unforgettable experience. We watched and took pictures as doctors pierced and stitched the babies. “Today, you too (journalists) are honorary doctors,” one of the surgeons humoured as we walked out of the operation theatre. Two days after the operation, the same doctor called and joyfully remarked “The twins are in stable condition, we are pleased with what is happening,” he said. In health?? Kenyans have along life expectancy than Nigerians almost 10 years difference. In health care facilities I believe Nigeria is a joke. |
Divine88: Arrived Nairobi this morning. O dear o dear, the level of extortion within the airport is alarming. I won't generalize tho, cos someone else may likely not experience what I experienced. Right from the port health to immigration to police, anyways I didn't drop a penny. Crack jokes et al to make them feel relax. I know I was in for a journey when I checked in on rwandair, the guy at the Lagos desk are crazy. After I told them I don't like carrying cash, as I have a dollar dominated MasterCard, they insist I still show them physical money. Anyways I need to get some needed rest. Welcome to Kenya, are you here for tourism? |
