The major problem I struggled with in Yam trading is lack of a common standard unit for measurement and as such pricing is arbitrary. You can buy one hand of Yam at Zaki Ibiam in Benue @ #45,000 inclusive of logistics thinking you got a good deal and someone in mile 12 market in Lagos is pricing same yam at #40000 or less.

Then, two things will happen either you decide to sell or you wait. If you wait, some traders might offer you a higher price but on credit. In both scenarios you're screwed.

Recommendation. If you must trade in Agricultural products stay away from commodities with no common standard of measurement like Yam. Rice, Beans, Garri, Cocoa, millet, corn all have common unit of measurement. And as such, you can reliably estimate your expected returns on every trip you make even as a new trader.
