Emekamex: I dont understand this govt at all; Buhari will say one thing and Lai Mohammed will say another. Lai made it clear in that the budget wasnt padded and denied all allegations, now Buhari is saying the opposite; which one should we believe? What's so difficult to understand? Buhari alleged that the budget he presented to the NAS wasn't padded Lai Mohammed corroborated Buhari's assertion Buhari believes the padding must have been done after he presented the budget <= Quite possible since there was a fiasco about the budget going missing after he presented it. |

kaeforum: What do these guys rally do that they eaarn 1 million naira a month,if i dey collect that kin pay I will resign after 3 years and go to establish my own biz and employ people.
These big wage earners are the reason many Nigerian firms dont do well , eco did the right thing jare, sacking 50 big boys and gals is better than sacking 10,000 people who probably earn below 250. 1 million naira a month for the type of business and profit they generate for their respective companies ain't a lot. |

issac08: This story about Ecobank sacking 50 staff because the bank cannot stay afloat is so hollow… So, with those 50 staff laid off, the bank will stay afloat, right? Some journalists in Nigeria just think everybody is a fool… It's called efficiency saving strategy Lean management with refocused strategy usually reinvigorates and in turn force managers to think outside of the box without compromising quality and of-course delivering results as expected. |

TonyeBarcanista: I made case for devaluation when all these started in 2015 and I still maintain that the best way to arrest incesant dollar circulation was introduction of control measures(like sane society does) and not express stoppage(which has never worked). That measure by CBN fast tracked the collapse of the Naira even before anything devaluation. Which other central bank in the world provides forex directly to the BDC? Allowing dollar as an acceptable/alternative currency in a mono economy was simply bad practice Tough measures for tough times broda We simply gotta suck it up and weather the storm |

oyinkinola: then the expoted crude will pay ₦? The government pays the exchange rate differential for crude importers. We frankly don’t sell enough crude due to dwindling market share to offset the cost of rising demand for refined crude. Our refineries aren’t working to optimum in order to provide some sort of cushion to that effect oyinkinola: Cost of importing machinery is compulsoryfrom america? I’d rather you admit you are clueless rather than coming up with suggestive conjectures. There is something called exchange rate cross in finance. A weakening of Naira against the dollar will also affect the pounds or any other currency to that effect. In simpler terms, a weakening of Naira against the dollar will transcends to weakening against Yen or Yuan |

oyinkinola: PURCHASING POWER
...Purchasing power is no longer an issues nowadays, it's globalisation in which china control world commerce and business and you were not force to go to black market or parallel for exchange before having $ Okay let me school you a bit If the Naira was to weaken to about N1k to the $ then expect the following ripple effect: Cost of importing refined crude will sky rocket Cost of importing machinery for our raw materials will increase Cost of goods and services will have to increase to augment the exchange rate parity BUT Can wage increase considering our major export is close to having a junk status? The common man on the street will suffer if wage doesn't increase in line with rising prices Business will fold up and job losses will start springing up like it's going outta fashion Can you now see it's not a good idea to have such narrow mindset as yours? |

sukkot: who said anything about haggle ? bargaining is synonymous to haggling sukkot: you never being to a high end eastern european store in the west end ? they make you feel like you are getting a good bargain by saying we sell it cheaper than the manufacturers. eastern europeans and pakistanis and greeks do not have the mentality and outlook and decor and poise and sophistication of the british. they are like nigerians in white skin. trust me. Seems you have your own definition of high end stores. sukkot: and to get a 60k range you need to be earning above 40 grand. do the math. seems like you the one who dont know what he is talking about Do you work for a finance company or how exactly are you able to determine the minimum income required for such? |

haibe: Haba why reason like this?
Firstly Us dollars is used as a benchmark currency is every country, in short it is a global currency that can therefore be accepted in any country.
Secondly, the fact she said 14k dols doesn't mean she actually paid in dollars as some manufacturers display their products in dollars because of the wide range of countries patronising their products. All you need to do is to pay the GBP equivalent of the dollar for someone that earn in dollar or pay the naira equivalent for someone that earn in Naira Goods aren't displayed in $ in the UK. They are either displayed in £ alone or £&€ |
