Cost of importing refined crude will sky rocket
Cost of importing machinery for our raw materials will increase
Cost of goods and services will have to increase to augment the exchange rate parity

BUT

Can wage increase considering our major export is close to having a junk status?
The common man on the street will suffer if wage doesn't increase in line with rising prices
Business will fold up and job losses will start springing up like it's going outta fashion

The most effective course of action for the country is massive import Substitution programmes. There should be massive reorientation to encourage corporates and individuals to source alternative items locally. When next you are buying a car or laptop, maybe you should consider Innoson and Zinox. In the meantime, we can pray for temporary respite in oil prices to increase supply of dollars.

That's the massive conundrum with no clear cut short/medium term solution to negate the projected effect of devaluation.

The government cannot afford to embark on quantitative easing without any clear plan to increase her outputs

Yes you can make shedloads of money in Nigeria but it depends on if you want to exchange that for high stress levels and lack of services.
Its up to the individual to make that choice.

Personally I prefer to make less money and live a calm and organised life for me and my children, but that is just me. I don't need a 7 bedroom mansion in Lekki that I cant enjoy and close my eyes at night.

I also ask for things to be done properly and justice and fairness means a lot to me so personally I find it hard to deal with some of the things I see out there.
