Yes they haven’t technically cut back supplies but signals/post analysis of speeches from any of the major oil players is enough to move the market.

Reaction to lifting of Iran’s oil sanctions has already been priced into the market. Besides, Iran would only be able to produce as much as their ageing infrastructure allows them to produce. You need to factor in all the years of underdevelopment in their oil sector as a direct result of the sanctions

With regards to Shale oil, the margin that allows majority of them to become a factor is around the $50 mark so there is still room for upside pressure

Regardless of your figurative expression or not, the upwards trend is backed by strong technicals. Investors are returning to oil asset class hence the bullish outlook

With regards to alternative to oil or conventional drilling, does the economics work for them cos it all boils down to basic economics.

Oil prices are rising because of the following factors:
Speculation surrounding agreement to cut production (Buhari has some sort of impact with this)
Future traders and hedge funds are bullish with their positions
The greenback has stop strengthening hence the movement into riskier asset class (commodities)

How about those on various Govt sponsored scholarships? This Govt has kept mum over them.

Government usually forward plan for these things so in actual sense they would have had projected figures in the yearly budget and they can easily reconcile the figures to reflect the exchange rate disparity.

However, if their long term view is that the scheme is no longer sustainable alas financially viable then they should simply recall them and instead strengthen our education system so more people can benefit instead of the select few.
