In case you don't know, Davido and his HKN gang crew had a really close relationship with MC Galaxy. Their relationship probably started when MC Galaxy won N500,000 by winning Davido's birthday give away contest in 2012. Here is a video by NotjustokTV which Davido explained what really happened after the MC Galaxy crash with some members of HKN gang at Shizzi's studio in Lagos. MC Galaxy actually addressed this issue after the launch of his album in Akwa Ibom state, his close pal Davido was not present on that day. To remind his fans, Davido's album will be released sometimebefore the end of August, get ready to buy it. Millions of Nigerians are heading toward defectively funded retirement, leaving a lot of them cynical about pension plans in the country and how the pension system works because they don’t want to lose their many years of labour to shylocks. Without sufficient income, mostly older adults who eventually rely on pension will lack the resources that enable them to live self-reliantly, access basic health care, and continue to play their roles in the society. Plenty of workers unquestionably have doubts about these things and that’s obviously why only a fraction of the workforce has a pension plan. While pension plans has kept majority of older adults from sinking into destitution, far too many retirees are having trouble making ends meet. Before our discussion takes centre stage in planning a successful retirement, we need to comprehend why our retirement is primarily of utmost concern in the first place. This may seem like an inconsequential question, but you might be surprised to learn that the key mechanisms of retirement planning run contrary to common belief about the best way to save for the future. Furthermore, proper enactment of those key mechanisms is essential in ensuring a financially secure retirement. This involves looking at each possible source of retirement income. Quick Understanding about Pension Plan A pension is designed to help you fund your retirement and replace the income you are no longer receiving from working. It can fit alongside all your other savings, from bank and building society accounts to property. Pensions could be one important way to support your retirement. Another may be your home (some people talk about their property as their pension) and another could be all your other savings and investments such as deposit accounts and shares. Your retirement income may come from any combination of these. But is there really anything to worry about? Is it safe to commit your money to a pension firm and expect to get it back? There’s certainly a lot that people need to know about how pensions work and how safe it is for them to have a pension plan. First off, we need to be up front about the prospects of the National Pension Commission (PenCom) set up by the government to oversee all pension firms in the country. Their job is to make sure your money is secure with the pension firm you choose and that your business with the firm keeps moving smoothly. So if anything happens, the commission is empowered to step in and sort it out for you so you never get to lose a single naira. Besides, people who think their pension firm will divert their pension need to know that pension firms don’t spend the money or use it for private purposes. By saving your pension or maintaining a pension plan, through your custodian, you’re able to put your money in a range of investments, such as the stock market, commercial property, bonds, and funds. The range of investments will depend on the scheme; you’ll even have some more money than what you’ve put in over the years. When your employer deducts some of your salary as pension, they pay this money to a pension fund custodian. This custodian company then notifies the pension firm that you’re registered with. Then your pension firm updates your accounts with them and there are no stories. So even if your pension firm ever goes under (which is really improbable), your money is safe with the custodian. Additionally, every pension firm is mandated by law to maintain a statutory reserve fund that they mustn’t take from at any time. It’s with this money they get to meet up if the PenCom steps in and asks them to pay up pensions that are due. Even at that, there are people who think the government might take from their pension money. But of course the government doesn’t involve itself in the affairs of the pension firms and certainly won’t have access to your pension. The PenCom is the only government body that’s involved here and they only regulate and make sure your money is safe. They don’t take your money. They make sure nobody takes your money. You can start taking from your retirement savings when you retire or when you’re 50 years old depending on your agreement with your employer. So normally a pension plan is basically like a savings account where you get to keep your money over time and then take from it later. But with your pension you normally can’t take from it until your retirement. This makes sure you don’t eat into your savings and jeopardise your own retirement. But the good part of having a pension plan is that you could actually get up to a quarter of your pension right now if you ever lose your job and can’t get another one within four months. So you can get by with some of your money until you get back on your feet, and if you have to pay for healthcare or if your daughter’s university tuition is due while you’re between jobs for instance, your money will be readily available to you. What’s also good is that your pension firm won’t just collect your savings and keep you in the dark. They’ll be in touch with you and send you regular updates about your account and how well the investments they making on it for you is doing. So at every point you’ll know how much you have in there to keep you assured that your money is safe. This is actually the way it works. Even more disconcerting is the fact that the poverty rate among older adults in Nigeria is alarming, one of the highest among less developed countries. The major reason so many older Nigerians become poor when they retire is the lack of proper pension plan to complement our retirement. Another reason is that, a lot of employers don’t get a pension plan for their employees and these employees don’t bother to seek out a good one because of their scepticism. But really it’s very important for Nigerians to think about the future and personally get a pension plan where they can put aside something for the future, so they can have something solid to fall back on when they retire. Without your own savings to add to the mix, you’ll find it difficult, if not impossible, to enjoy much beyond the minimum standard of living when old age comes knocking. This situation can quickly become alarming if your health takes a turn for the worse. Unforseen things happen all the time and without a backup it can be especially difficult coping with these circumstances when they happen. For instance, people have had their entire business wiped out by a fire and have had to start from scratch at an old age. Old age typically brings medical problems and increased healthcare expenses. Without your own nest egg, living out your golden years in comfort while also covering your medical expenses may turn out to be a burden too large to bear – especially if your health (or that of your loved ones) starts to deteriorate. This is a completely avoidable situation, and it’s important for the Nigerian people to take the right step as they move onto the future. http://www.jaybossng.com/2015/07/how-safe-is-it-to-have-pension-plan-in.html

ladyF:you are fast o, were you waiting for me to post? |
Mr. President, sir, Pardon my manners, sir. My name is Onyeka Nwelue, a young Nigerian, with so much hate in his heart for conventions and methods, clearly interested in education but in a realistic and holistic way. I have been considered to be crude, rude and disrespectful by many people, including family members and seen to have an uncouth mouth. But in years, you are the only public office holder or politician I truly cherish and love and respect and support. You will always have my support, morally and where needs be, I shall always support you. The day your predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan handed over to you, I actually cried. I was in one of the dingy, dirty and scurfy rooms in the guest house at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The TV was the only thing that was alive there. I cried, not because Mr. Jonathan was going back to Otuoke; I really wanted him to go. I cried, because of what you said about him: “If Mr. President wanted to make things difficult for Nigerians, he would have.” That was what you said. Two months on, one is tempted to ask, “Are you going to make things difficult for us, young Nigerians, by allowing the kind of politicians we see around you, exist?” Don’t make things difficult for us, Mr. President. We genuinely love you. Mr. President, sir, last week, the Internet was awash with Mr. Rochas Okorocha, a sitting Governor of Imo State, celebrating the graduation of his son, Aham, bagging a first class degree in God-knows-what at the University of Manchester. I am not begrudging Aham the right to study abroad. I am only appalled that you allow people like Mr. Okorocha ‘litter’ themselves around you, like waste, when an institution like Imo State University is there, in shambles. The lecturers are all dull-brained and the students completely clueless of what they are doing there because there are no facilities. I have found out that not only Mr. Okorocha’s children are in foreign universities while they treat our universities like scum. Mr. President, if I showed you the pictures of the buildings of Nigerian universities, you would not be able to eat. I think you’d have seen them and I believe you will act on them but please sir, I am your supporter, so I have every right to impatiently demand for every thing. Speak to the governors! If the universities are not well-equipped, we will keep producing politicians who are not articulate. Our parents will go and farm, get money and send us to Ghana and then we’ll brag about foreign university certificates in Nigeria. Mr. President. Are you not ashamed of this? How can there be no one in government whose certificates are all issued by Nigerian universities? Even your wife, Mr. President, those who show off her CV make a case of telling us how she acquired this and that from France and other countries. I haven’t seen Americans boast of foreign university certificates. They can boast of having exchange programs, but why do we cherish Americans and desperately want to be like them, but can’t? What is it that the Americans have gotten right that we haven’t, Mr. President? Mr. President, I am elated that you’re travelling to the United States of America. I wouldn’t compare you now with any other world leader. You’re a king of your kingdom. You are very experienced. I will wait to see what the trip to the US brings, but then please pay attention to what I am about to say. One night in Abuja, I drove with my friends, David Nnaji, Mitt Okorie, Ifeanyi Orazulike and my cousin, Gerald Konwea, all great young Nigerians, struggling so hard to leave legacies behind, to the Nordic Residence in Jabi, to see a friend, Gossy Ukanwoke. It was raining. At 25, Mr. Ukanwoke is the founder of Beni American University (BAU), Nigeria’s first private online university. It was launched in 2012 and allows students to access their classes at any time of the day with any internet-enabled device. Now, they have over 16,000 students. He is getting it right but on the surface of this perceived glory, Mr. President, I am sure that if you signed into a bill a law that prohibits children of public officers from using public funds to study abroad, their parents would be forced to improve the quality of education in Nigeria and make sure that their children get the best. You know what Rochas Okorocha will be saying to IMSU students, Mr. President, sir? He will say – and I say this because I know how he sounds: “My people, my people, do what makes you happy there in Owerri, because my children no dey here.” If any lecturer is owed, it is their own cross to bear, their own tale to tell. Mr. President, some of us graduate from Nigerian universities after studying a four-year course for 7 years, because of strike and other related issues meted out by lecturers. And then we find ourselves behind glass showcases at eateries selling doughnuts and rice and plantain. I’m suggesting this, Mr. President, that we begin to get easy on bureaucracy; just like India, where you get all kinds of institutions – colleges, institutes, universities and vocational training centres awarding certificates (credits or no credits, everyone’s paperwork matters). My point is this, we can recreate the system and flush away the conventions. The Senate is filled with people who don’t care, anyway – Senator Ben Murray Bruce’s children are in foreign universities, so how would he care about such a bill that will make the educational system work? No one even cares about this sector. Mr. President, I can see Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili parading herself as a purist. Now, you must ignore her completely and question her past as Education Minister. Find someone who can channel their energy into pursuing a mission that would be to provide young Nigerians with a solid foundation in the craft of thinking for themselves and engaging in intensive training to put in a position to compete with the world of employment, where they can easily employ themselves. Mr. President, please, when you get to America, tell Mr. Obama to take you on a tour of Silicon Valley. Enugu could be our own Silicon Valley, but what have we made of it? We all know that Enugu is every creative person’s dream. It has incredible landscapes, amazing varieties of light and hills, a dynamic scene, and an unbeatable cultural history. You might have heard the music of William Onyeabor, the classical Nigerian musician whose funky psychedelic sounds engulfed the airwaves in the ’70s and ’80s. When we forgot Mr. Onyeabor, white people rediscovered him and now, Mr. President, do you know how many young people in Europe and America who have gained employment just because of Mr. Onyeabor’s music? Doing tours? DJ-ing his music at beach parties and making money off him? What education in Nigeria allows us to know our history, to know about Mr. Onyeabor? Mr. President, Flora Nwapa lived in Enugu. Does she also need an introduction? Is her story not relevant? I am not saying this should be your job but what way can one talk about Nwapa without making it part of the curricula? Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie both lived in Nsukka too as well as other highly respected creative people. Mr. President, I believe you will speak to the Governor of Enugu State. If some of these Governors are not educated enough to make things happen in their states, let them not be stumbling blocks to the ramifications of young people like us who want to restructure the educational system by setting up creative schools all over Nigeria. Deal with bureaucracy for us, Mr. President! In writing to you, Mr. President, I strongly believe that I know lots of young people who have graduated from foreign universities, with different structures in their heads, hoping they would come make a CHANGE in your government, not inside Aso Rock, but by having easy access to different departments to establish a system that will be beneficial to anyone. They will need to build their faculties from the top talents in the creative industries and partner with institutions both in Nigeria and abroad to provide Nigerians with a unique educational experience. Mr. President, I want to end this letter by reminding you that till now, Nigeria has no functioning railway system and Mr. Babatunde Fashola who always sounds so intelligent, speaking grammar up and down, could not manage to build a METRO railway system in his mega-city, Lagos! Sir, the road ahead is dark and your burden is heavy. I know you are up to to the task. I have never been this optimistic about Nigeria or anything else before. If you surround yourself with people who won’t block your ears with wool, then, you’re on the right track and maybe, some of us will all stay in Nigeria. I speak on behalf of over 170 million Nigerians when I say that the country will appreciate if you start working now! Thank you so much for your patience. Regards, Onyeka Nwelue http://www.jaybossng.com/2015/07/onyeka-nwelue-open-letter-to-president.html

Ace comedian Basket Mouth who was nominated for the MTV Africa Music Awards 2015 has said he don't know why D'banj won an award. He said this during BasketMouth Uncensored Show 2015 in Houston, Texas USA. He also wondered why Davido could beat Wizkid for the award. Below is what he said..... "The first Award that they will nominate me for, that I really respected was that Award, I really love the fact that I was nominated. Technically, I do not look at awards to judge how much I’m good; My Award is you people. For the fact that you guys are coming to watch me, I got this much award. Like around the world. You guys are awesome. When they were doing the awards.. P’Square, they won like 2 awards, best duo, Best this one.. D’Banj won.. I don’t know why. (crowd laughter). Then Davido won above WizKid, which is quite strange, but it’s allowed.. Here is a message from a non indigene of Benue state working at the Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), He is calling the governor to come to their aid. I wont reveal his name because of security reasons. Read below and share until it gets to the governor, Chief Dr. Samuel Ortom. During the Nominalization of the Contract Staff of BIRS, those who were not of Benue Origin were left out and placed on CONTRACT APPOINTMENT for only TWO (2) Years. Only SEVENTEEN (17) Staff were given this Contract Employment. These people had worked in BIRS for many years before this appointment was given. The 17 Staff were therafter posted all back to BIRS as Contract Staffs under the Benue State Civil Service. Unlike the old Contract under BIRS, the payment of SALARY was to be made by the State Government and not by BIRS. However, while the other BIRS Staff have done their Biometric and waiting to be paid their salaries from January, 2015 to date, the Contract Staff are NOT so priviledged. While the Contract Staff have all been issued with the State Civil Service Identity Card, they are yet to do their Biometric. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance has refused to approve that Biometric be done for the Contract Staff. Her reason been that she has a directive not to treat New Employments. As a Corper, I served BIRS and was thereafter recommended for employment in June, 2012. I am also among the 17 Contract Staff. Like my colleagues, the harsh economic situation becomes more tense knowing that our other colleagues are to be paid soon, while others have been paid some months. Our PLEA is that the attention of the Governor be brought to this our condition. We sincerely have comitted no other than 'Been from another State'. I sincerely wish that you will assist in bringing this matter before the GOVERNOR. Thanks! A Help To One, Is An Help To All! http://www.jaybossng.com/2015/07/contract-workers-at-birs-seeks-gov.html |
Nigerian super star, Davido has reacted to alleged investigations of his ''Fans Mi'' video which he features American rapper Meek Mill by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The video has been reported of promoting narcotics, a banned and illegal substance. In a recent interview with a National daily, the Director of Public Affairs of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, explained that the body has set up an investigative panel. ‘I am aware that a panel is working on it (the video). The panel was set up soon after the video was released few weeks ago. When our attention was drawn to it, we viewed it and we discovered that it was improper. There is no moral lesson in it and he was just advertising drug trafficking. Davido's-Fans-Mi‘In the video, he exchanged a brief case supposedly containing narcotics for dollars. He was displaying affluence in the video. If it (the plot) had climaxed in an arrest and possible detention, we would have congratulated him for partnering with us. ‘But the way he portrayed drug trafficking in the video was a means to an end, which the end is a life of affluence which we disagree with. We are looking at the issue holistically. We believe that there should be a body that was supposed to censor videos before they go out. ‘Those are the things we want to investigate and verify. Was the video submitted for approval? If it was submitted, why was it approved, with such content?’ Ofoyeju revealed. ''Fan mi'' video which was directed by Segun Ogunro has already enjoyed over 1 million views on Youtube. However, Davido seems to be unmoved by the probe as he replied a fan on twitter saying there is nothing to it. Olamide - Lagos Boys All these hit tracks within the space of 7 months, his fans on Notjustok.com are using the comment section to send out their advice only if he could listen, some says we have not finished hearing Shakiti Bobo, Melo Melo and co and he is back with another single? Olamide slow down abeg. Do you also think he should slow down and work on his album? or its a normal thing as he is releasing singles every now and then? He is the Most consistent Hitmaker of our time ! so so catchy – can’t stop listening to this one!! Adeke:This guy keep releasing singles, are you scared they will over throne you ? why are you dropping singles to remain relevant , you have shoki ti bobo and melo melo who are still enjoying airplay , why not chill and work on a album , albums are much better than releasing alot of singles , work on a album and chilll and have a platform stop acting hungry , do david or wiz or wande release singles as much as u do? at the end of the day you will pack all this and put it on a cd and call it an album same mistake you made on your last album street OT, you are good no doubt just chil and stop acting hungry and Adeke got some replies under his comment....see them below... Brother has dropped what is essentially two albums in one year and you think singles are his problem. You guys should better get serious. Naija Viddy Blog:I agree that Olamide needs to slow down and let Shakitibobo and Melo Melo dominate for a while before releasing another single so he does not oversupply his market...however, one thing we should not take away from him is that he works hard, understands his fan base and knows how to market his songs well to his fan base....As an artiste, what more do you need? For a fan like me, best believe I have downloaded all his three new songs and my speakers are in big trouble...but does that mean, i will always download any new songs he releases? NO, only the songs which I can connect with and that is totally expected.....In the meantime, I am waiting for the SNEH dance...#That'sAll #Baddo-Sneh **NVB** Sinbad Dantata:Wat i just observed is dat nonsense gives olamide and ybnl mates inspiration dey are so addicted to rubbish and it"s rily working for dem. AS the leadership crisis in the House of Representatives lingers, the former Minority leader of the House and preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Speaker position, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has been accused of threatening to make the House hot when plenary resumes if he was not made leader. But Gbajabiamila denied ever making such a threat even as he accused the Speaker’s camp of making such allegation. He said he was a man of peace and believed people should learn to discus and not resort to violence. The allegation against the APC adopted candidate for the Speaker who lost to Hon. Yakubu Dogara was made by Hon. Yunusa Abubakar Ahmad (APC, Gombe) in Abuja on Tuesday on a monitored AIT programme, tagged “AIT Parliamentary.” While responding to a question put to him on the leadership crisis in the House, he claimed that a serving governor whose name was not mentioned had said that Gbajabiamila threatened to cause more havoc in the House if he did not emerge as the leader when the House resumes for plenary July 21st. According to him, “A State Governor told me in confidence that Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila told him that if he is not made the Leader of the House, what happened on the floor of the House on June 25th will be a child’s play.” The lawmaker who is a member of the Speaker’s camp also faulted the list of Principal Officers sent to the House by the APC leadership which could not be read by Dogara on the floor before fight broke out on June 25th which led to the adjournment to July 21. He said the list was contrary to the spirit of federal character as it concentrated leadership positions on just two geopolitical zones of the South-West and the North-East. He said, “If you look at the list that the party sent, Femi Gbajabiamila (Hon) South West) will be Leader of the House, Hon. Muhammed Tahir Monguno (North East) will be Chief Whip, Hon. Pally Iriase from South -South was given the Deputy Whip while Hon. Hassan Garba Ado-Doguwa (North West) will be Deputy Leader; which would have given two principal positions each to the South West and the North East.” But when contacted to confirm the allegation, Gbajabiamila said, “I do no such thing. It must be story from the other side (Dogara camp). I am a man of peace and believe people should learn to discus and not resort to violence. “Whoever did that obviously does not know me. No office or position is worth such threats. I will advice if you want to engage in investigative journalism, you ask whoever made such a comment to come out with who the threat was made to and when.” http://www.jaybossng.com/2015/07/gbajabiamila-threatens-more-violence-if.html |

There was jubilation in all nooks and crannies of Benue State yesterday as the state government commenced payment of salary arrears of civil servants. The former Governor Gabriel Suswam administration had owed salaries of workers for several months. The former administration said it lacked adequate finances to offset the backlog of salaries due to the dwindling federal allocation. However, Governor Samuel Ortom had on assumption of office about a month ago, told the state workers that his administration would ensure that the salary arrears were cleared. He also sought a loan of N10billion in that regard. Following the commencement of payment, the state workers had started receiving alerts from various banks, for their monthly salary payment since Tuesday and the exercise continued till yesterday. Yesterday, the civil servants thronged to various markets in Makurdi and other major towns to purchase some items, just as many went to mechanic sites to repair their vehicles while others converged at varied unwinding spots discussing the development. It was further learnt that some tertiary institutions in the state that were shut down including the Benue State University Makurdi are warming up to reopen. The striking lecturers have also received the alerts for payment of the owed salaries. A civil servant who simply gave his name as Gwar, said, “because of the payment of the owed salary, I came with my wife and children to purchase items that we can use at home and they will also take to school.” Source:http://www.jaybossng.com/2015/07/jubilation-in-benue-as-govt-begins.html |

Immediate past governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam has taken to his official page to give some insights on what he met in office when he was sworn in as the governor in 2007, he named things like debts, unpaid salaries, contractual obligations, dilapidated infrastructure and so on including what he left. He used the opportunity to dish out his advice to the new administration. “I did my best for Benue, I can only aspire to be better always and that’s what leadership entails. When I assumed office as Governor of Benue state in 2007, there were obvious lapses, there were debts, unpaid salaries, contractual obligations, dilapidated infrastructure, a weak and an under enumerated civil service etc I didn’t makes excuses, I took it head on and in a short while there were visible changes in and around every urban centre, the new Ministry of rural development and cooperatives we created made impact in the rural areas too by providing electricity to over 100 communities in the first year alone. ” “The economic crunch unfortunately caused the hardship people faced towards the end of our administration, I wasn’t happy about it but I couldn’t change it either. The task of leadership is enormous and I did my best for Benue. ” He also had a few parting shots to Governor Samuel Ortom telling him to work and quit making excuses. “The new government must move from here to the next level and they can only do that with a sustained commitment to satisfy the wishes of the Benue people not chasing frivolities or making excuses to failures or achievements of the past.” http://www.jaybossng.com/2015/06/i-did-my-best-for-benue-now-its-your.html |
