A 28-year-old man, Ikechukwu Godspower, who confessed that he relocated a few days ago from Abuja to steal in Lagos State, western Nigeria, before travelling to celebrate Christmas, has been jailed.

PM News reports that, Godspower was sentenced to six months imprisonment with an option of community service for 72 hours within the court premises.

However, since he had no fixed address where he would stay to perform the community service, he was taken back to the prison to serve the jail sentence, thereby foreclosing his plan to steal to travel for Christmas celebration.

Godspower was arrested for committing felony by the police and had confessed that he came from Abuja to Lagos to steal in order to celebrate Christmas in his village in the southsouth.He was arrested after he attempted to vandalise a Toyota 4Runner SUV and after he was caught, he managed to escape into a canal.

He said he was later arrested at a nearby super market at Domino Pizza on Osolo Way after he broke the inner entrance door glass to steal in the super market.

He first stole a bottle of soft drink from the fridge before he broke the inner entrance glass door to steal other items.

But his plans failed as he was caught by security men on duty and handed over to the police at Aswani division.

During cross examination, Godspower said he did not know the spirit that was disturbing him that pushed him into compulsive stealing.

He said he lives in Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja from where he came to Lagos.

He narrated that things were not easy for him there and he decided to come to Lagos to hustle and get money before he travels for Christmas.

On how he knew Lagos, he said he lived here before he relocated to Abuja a few years ago to also hussle there.

He said since he came to Lagos, he had no fixed address where he stays and had nobody to accommodate him, adding that he sleeps anywhere at night.

In reaction to yesterday's reception in favour of former Senate President, Senator David Mark, yesterday in Otukpo, youth from the Benue South Senatorial District, have taken a swipe at the Senator for what they term intimidation with a rented crowd.

The youth under the auspices of Idoma Youth Assembly, the much publicised grand reception of David Mark which witnessed a great crowd was a fraud in itself as most of the attendees were not indigenes of the senatorial district but a hired crowd from neighbouring areas and mostly from Benue North-West senatorial district.

Condemning the show by the former Senate President, the group's Speaker, Comrade Mary Oloja said it was embarrassing that Senator Mark could set such a display without shame after leading the region into a nose diving trend while profiting from its benevolence.

She said the people of Benue South Senatorial District had grown out of the hoodwink he had customarily put the entire region through, using his promises of emancipation and creation of Apa state as well as federal presence as these have been disvovered to be tricks used to obtain power and abandon them till after another four years.

"Is it not moral wrong for David Mark to abandon his helicopter and for the first time plight the same roads he refused to repair just because he wants to show humility and gain our votes? The Idoma Youth are wiser today, we will not allow anyone bamboozle us with these theatrics. We are used to him". She said.

Meanwhile the Idoma Youth Assembly has also called on all Idoma Youth to come out en mass to support the Daniel Onjeh campaign to ensure that falsehood and deceit ill no longer have a place in the polity of Idoma nation.

They said their support for Onjeh was as a result of his resilience and dedication to his cause which will be a marker for all youth in the area and nation to emulate in all their endeavours, with a potential of changing the fortunes of the Nigerian youth.

* the role he played in the emergence of Saraki as the senate president?
*or David mark effective representation of his minority kingdom a head of the majority folks?
* or the high number of people in Zone c that he has facilitated their employment at the federal level?
*or the scholarship scheme he has empowering Zone c students with?
*or his political ideology?

that make some people to hate him so much? Turning burial to jubilation ground.

We have conveniently diverted the anger and frustration from the laxity of our own legislators and channeled it at the pragmatism of David Mark.

Truth is, both senators from my senatorial zone of birth and residence combined can't match Mark's zealous, pragmatic and empowering spirit.

Our legislators should matter of urgency stop playing local politics in Tiv land, and look inward to project a way forward of Tiv kingdom in National affairs. we are seriously lacking behind against our brothers, The Idomas.
