Our president is weak, and clearly does not prioritise the welfare of the people. GEJ does not have what it takes to manage a situation like "Nigeria"!! I am eager to see the "abra kadabra" that GEJ will do to curb Boko Harams by july as he claims. |
Facebook Addiction Disorder (FAD) is becoming a serious problem. According to US psychologists the numbers of patients suffering from FAD are increasing. How do you know if you have FAD? Symptoms of having Facebook Addiction Disorder - Increasing amount of time on facebook (neglecting some social activities for Facebook). - Anxiety and obsessive thinking about what is written on your wall on Facebook etc. - Kissing your girlfriend’s/boyfriend’s home page. - Stop answering your phone call and replying emails (insist them to contact you through Facebook chat). - Get stress when a Facebook friend doesn’t add you. Facebook Statistics - 750 million active users (As of July 2011). - 50% of active users log – on to Facebook in any given day. - People spend over 700 billion minutes per month. - About 70% of Facebook users are outside the United States - More than 150 million active users (mobile devices) How to avoid or reduce FAD problems? - Admitting that you have a Facebook addiction disorder or FAD problem and accepting some possible solutions. - Writing down your Facebook hour / Sum up how much time epend in a day, after a few days, weeks and month this number should decrease. - Try to realize what things you really like to do aside from using Facebook? - Turn-off email notifications (email notifications are encouraging you to come back and visit Facebook). - Delete your Facebook account or block the sites the REAL way. Source: facebook.com/press/info.php? Statistics facebook.com/topic/FAD Conclusion: Facebook (and other social media) can be more harm than good!!! Share your own FAD story.

The problem with Nigeria is that we don't value human life (at least the life of a fellow nigerian)!!! Scores of innocent Nigerians die everyday in the hands of boko Haram, nobody is concerned, but let two whites die, and Jonathan is prostrating like a slave to the international community. Jonathans government has failed nigeria in every way imaginable. 0/10!!! He should just squander the rest of his tenure and get lost! Smh He can't clamp down on corruption ( senaators are spending over a billion of public funds for cool toys) he can't give power, water, can't improve health care or education, so whaat is he actually doing ![]() |
The problem is not whether 77% of black doctors are nigerians but rather: What is the Nigerian Governement, thru the Ministry of Health, doing to improve the Healthcare delivery in Nigeria?? Nigerian Hospitals are nothing short of a death trap (sorry to say). Which is why anytime any nigerian who has money is seriously ill, they fly to india, US or UK (as their money reach). As for the politicians, even a common cold, and they are flying to europe for treatment. They should focus on fixing the problems at home first, let the nigerian doctors abroad decide whether or not it would be worth coming back. By the way, is it in a country ridiculed with corruption and insecurity (thanks to Boko harams) that would be more attractive to these us based doctors, who are used to a civil and functioning society.?! |
Ngozi Okonji Iweala is still one of the most competent leaders we have in this country and its a privilege to have her ccoordinating our economy. Problem is, our endemic corruption will sully all her good efforts and make it appear as though her policies are ineffective and not feasible. Let's not even start to talk about the effect of Boko Haram on the economy There's a lot of potential for economic success in naija, we just need: 1. A dedicated and ruthless fight against corruption at all levels and arms of govt 2. Clamp down on boko haram and their financiers, as well as other local terrorists (MEND) activities 3. Restoration of the manufacturing sector of the economy, to stimulate export (of something besides oil), strengthen the naira and generate more revenue for reinvestment 4. Agric! Agric!! Agric!!! Nigeria needs to become more focused on its agric potential, not just for export but for local consumption as well, when agric products are utilised in the manufacturing sector. Its a long road to recovery, but Ngozi is the best we can ask for. We need strong-willed and transparent leaders like her. Starting from the presidency! |
At the Muritala Muhammed Intl airport, you are likely to be approached by scruffy and desperate looking touts who may ask you if you have you're immunisation card ( or yellow card as it is popularly called). These guys are not registered with the ministry of health and they sell the card to intending travellers who may need to show proof of immunisation against Yellow fever, cholera and CSM-cerebrospinal meningitis. They do so without giving any shot. Just pay and get ur card. Unfortunately, the authorites in south africas airport has discovered this ilicit act and are aware that many nigerians who travel into their country have not actually received the shots, despite being in possesion of a yellow card. As a result they are threatening to deport nigerians right from the airport, and those who get transit visa aren't even allowed into the country!! Ghana on the other hand is still lenient , as they allow you in but instuct you to get the shots ASAP as yellow fever and CSM have become endemic! What are the authorities in nigeria doing to curb this illicit practice, that is tarnishing our already damaged reputation?? |
Everybody has their own interpretation of the bible that fits them ( they contort the Word of God to justify their actions)! Truth is: there are several contradictions in the bible, especially between old and. New testament. One of them is the eating of "unclean" animals. Old testament says " no chop am" new testament says " chop wetin u like". It is not what goes into a man that makes him "unclean" but what "comes out of him". Whether "J@acking off" is doing something that "comes out" of a person is open to debate. But another fact/reality is that: 99% of men have all, at some point in their lives j@cked off; whether they felt good about it or not! The other 1 % are lying!!! No one is perfect, not even pastors; Let God be the Judge. |
I notice that a lot of my friends and family that work in banks (guys) don't have any facial hair - clean shave. I wonder if its a compulsory requirement from the banks management and also if it applies to all departments in the bank. Can bankers keep a neatly trimed and shaped beard and moustache, or everything must go? Lol |
Thanks for d responses everyone. I also agree dat live-in relatives have a way of interfering in a marriage, but its not easy to turn ones back on family members in need. Especially those who need a place to stay. Besides, some relatives can be geninely helpful and respect privacy. The worst part is when they show up unannounced and uninvited to spend a couple of days and on leaving they expect you to drop transport fare and "something small" (like I have a money minting machine under my bed) lool If they are ur wifes people, she may prefer to hang out with them, speaking their language (that you don't understand) making you feel like an outcast in ur own home. Don't get me started on when they get TOO comfortable in ur house and prevent you from watching the TV channel of your choice (in my own house)! Lmao Its a lose-lose situation: u take them in and risk ruining ur peaceful home; keep them out and risk being the wicked brother, uncle or in-law (or sister, aunty as the case may be)! |
In our african tradition its normal for relatives to move in with a couple: to assist with the house chores or to baby sit the kids or in most cases just to have a place to stay. However, when there are too many people in the house it sometimes interferes with the couples relationship, communication and se.x llife may be affected as well (especially if the relatives are the wifes people lol) So is It really helpful to a marriage for relatives to move in with a couple?? Should a new couple avoid it if they can?? |
Ever since d world cup fiasco and their failure to qualify for AFCON, I have given up hope on d eagles. All d "mumu" friendlies in the world won't help our team if they can't qualify and perform well in international competitions. Right now we have droped several points on FiFA ranking. Shame. The problem is more than the coach and the players; its the NFF as a whole that is ruining nigerian football. I miss d eagles of 1994 |
This is for da Ladies Would you marry a younger guy that you've been dating and really like?? Does the age difference really matter? And if so, how much age difference is too much?? What, if any, is societys stance on a wife being older than her husband??! ![]() |
Nicki Minaj messed up. BADLY. Her performance was blasphemous and very insulting to christians especially catholics with the whole pope outfit, exorcism and confession bit. It was just horrible, plus the song wasn't even nice!!! With musicians like Adele in the business, I wonder how nicki minaj can still sell albums Very trashy girl!! But I loved the rest of the show (at least most of it) also LL was a very good host. I missed beyonce (Mama Blue), aslo surprised not to see any nominations for her. Guess this year was adeles year!! |
RIP Whitney. Whitney Houston, whose soaring voice lifted her to the top of the pop music world but whose personal decline was fueled by decades of drug use, died on Saturday in a Beverly Hills hotel room. She was 48. Her death came on the eve of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles and at the same hotel where her mentor, record mogul Clive Davis, was holding an annual pre-event party at which she was scheduled to perform. A dramatic scene unfolded at the Beverly Hilton Hotel as music celebrities arriving for the party expressed shock at her death, while reporters swarmed the hotel and fans gathered to pay their respects. A Beverly Hills police officer told reporters they were called to the Beverly Hilton at around 3:20 p.m. PST and that emergency personnel found Houston's body in a fourth-floor room, and she was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. The cause of death is under investigation. http://mobile.reuters.com/article//idUSTRE81B01020120212

These days everyone is very fashion consious, but a lot of people are overdoing it! Let's leave the ladies fashion issues for another day (we may need a whole website to address them), and focus on the guys. What's up with sagging ur trousers so low we can see ur entire boxers (or butt crack in most cases)?! Its very crude and indecent! Especially those guys that wear the same boxer for 2 weeks!! Lmao No one will take a s agger seriously. Yet boys dey sag to church, work, even for job interviews! And what's the deal with skinny outfits: skinny jeans: so tight they look like legging. They don't know that if their trousers are too tight it cuts circulation and generates a lot of heat "down there" leading to infertility! Skinny shirts that prevent you from stretching ur arm properly. Let's not allow fashion craze ruin health and opportunities! Cheers!!! |
They had called off this strike since yesterday, NLC and TUC played along with FG to make people stay home, so that when they announce, there would be no violent reaction among the protesters. Imagine if people had gathred at Gani Fawehmi park today, with renewed energy to protest and then labour calls off the strike?? It would have been bloody. The violence reaction of the masses would be catastrophic! NLC and TUC has disappointed the masses, Jonathan has spat on the graves of all those who died fighting for our democracy! May God forgive them all!!! |
We may not have a long standing Leader like Gadaffi, Ben Ali or Hosni Mubarak; but we have an even worse, more diabolical and longer reigning dictator called : "Endemic Corruption"!!! He has ruled Nigeria for several decades in all spheres of our social existence. From Schools, to banks, to Government MDAs, to the streets, to the barracks, to our homes! Its time to say "NO" to Corruption, and this time mean it!!!. For every bribe you take to do your job, or facilitate/stall a process, you are no better than those leaders you spent 5 days of your precious time protesting against! For the sake of every person that dies due to poor health services, every minimum wage earners child who went to bed hungry last night, every victim of armed robbery, turn down the next bribe, it gets easier!! Corruption Must GO; Nigerians don taya!!! |
The FG has agreed to revert petrol pump price to N65, but: 1. In april, petrol will go back to subsidy removal price OR 2. In march petrol will inrease by 80%, that is N120, then full N140 in april! DO WE AGREEEEE ??http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/01/fg-agrees-to-n65/ |
Okonji-Iweala is a supposed to be a Havard and MIT graduate with years of experience in the world bank, so one can dare to assume that she is intelligent enough to handle nigerias present economic situation, right?? Not really!! I don't know whether our leaders are daft or just pretend to be or maybe its just outright wickedness and insensitivity but HOW is it possible to provide 1100 let's say 50 seater buses and they call it mass transit (pallative for the subsidy removal)??! Simple arithmetic -how can they say that providng transport for 55000 people out of 160,000,000 (less than 0.03% of population) is enough of a palliative for the impoverished 90% of Nigerians? What of food prices? Are farmer and traders going to transport yam and basket of tomatoes on these 1100 buses? What of school fees? What of our generators that provide light for us 90% of the time since PHCN is just useless? What of all the other basic social amenities that are our fundamental human right the government is making look like they are doing us a favour ![]() Does Ngozi, and Dizeani and Jonathan queue to buy fuel, or use their salary to run a generator?? If they did, they would even be ashamed to call a meager 1100 buses "mass transit" Havard should recall that womans certificate. She is a disgrace to the educated. Even if fuel subsidy removal is in the long run in our best interest, corruption will never allow all the FGs plans to work. Na Naija be dis! The rash removal of the subsidy just shows how fake our democracy is-govt for the rich and powerful, not for the people (99%). GEJ no try at allllllll!!! |
I don't get TINSEL. Everyone is so hot and speaks in a foreign accent(even bar waiters) The interior decoration of the entire set from houses to offices to police stations all look like it was shot in europe. Since when did regular nigerian flats (especially that of a tailor) have fancy decor and sophisticated paint work ![]() The acting is soooooo exagerrated and unatural ( nollywood actors are way better and more realistic). That show does not adequately represent the real Nigerian situation not even among the so called elite). Is it just me or is Tinsel a crappy tv show? Why do people love it so much, am I missing something? |
FUEL SUBSIDY IS GONE!!! And its not gonna be back, at least any time soon. Jonathan called our bluff and proved to nigerians that he wasn't a "spineless wimp" after all! Prices of virtually EVERYTHING, from transport to food stuff to photocopies have more than doubled. There is a huge public outcry against the government with protests sprawling all over the country. So far the official death toll is at one. (RIP Mustafa) But maybe the removal of the subsidy is in our best interest-what with our deplorable economic state. However what guarantee do nigerians have that the proceeds from the removal will eventually and soon benefit nigerians, with all the shameless corruption in the government? How does Jonathan expect to buffer the effect of this fuel subsidy removal for nigerians, 90% of whom live on less than $2 a day?? Who should be held responsible for the loss of lives and property that would result from anti-government protests ![]() Why is the international media-CNN and others, not covering the situation in Nigeria like they did for other occupy movements?? These protests aren't necessarily about the fuel subsidy removal, but a reaction to nigerians being fed up with the uncontrollable corruption and embezzlemnet in the country- Our own occupy movement How can Jonathan expect to successfully implemet austerity measures in a country where most people are living in abject poverty, and he and his cabinet and legislators live lavish and luxurious life styles at the expense of the common man ![]() Jonathan is telling Nigerians: " Manage the hardship for some time, things might get better in the future. If they don't, then get used to it ( after all I used to walk barefooted to school). In the mean time, I will continue to enjoy all the luxuries and priviledges of being your president, and allocate ridiculous sums of money to my office to fund my lavish lifestyle!!!" God Help Nigeria! |
@ Lasinoh: thanks for your contribution; but we aren't quarelling and I'm neutral on the issue, so no need to attack, LOL. Its just a dialogue where people can air their views - eventhough it may not even leave this forum. Peace |
With the recent spate of bomb attacks in the northern parts of the country, many are of the opinion that it would be in the best interest of Nigerians for the country to be divided into northern and southern Nigeria, two different countries! Cultural and religious differences between the two regions will continue to create tension and insecurity. With all our economic problems, local terrorism and sectarian violence are the last thing that we need to deal with right now. Is it feasible and economically reasonable to divide Nigeria into two different countries?? Would it benefit everyone in the end?? |
Its Unfortunate that we have a thoughtless and inconsiderate leader. While he and his croonies were merry-making in lavish luxuries, more than half of Nigerian families across the nation couldn't afford N1000 to buy one chicken. In addition, dozens of familes were thrown into mourning and indescribable grief over the loss of loved ones due to senseless violence that our impotent president is unable to curb. Yes, it is directly his fault that Boko Haram is menacing this country with their blood-thirsty ambition. What kind of president sits back and tells us, the dying public, to "wait for the violence to fizzle out". No sane president would ever utter such insentive comments. God, we are 100% in your hands! |
First of all, I'm not sure of the source that claims that Ghana celebrated a number of years of uninterrupted power in 2009, because I have been in Ghana since 2005 and I can say with all certainty that power supply in Ghana is ANYTHING but regular!!! In 2007 the water level in the dam was so low that there was nationwide load shedding, whereby people were without light on a daily basis for 12hours (they were very accurate with the power cuts). This happened for almost 3 months!!! Ever since, power supply in Ghana has been very erratic, with an average of power cuts at least once a week from a duration of as little as 5mins up to 12 whole hours! Nevertheless, Ghanas worst power situation is still better than anything Nigeria has to offer! Many Ghanaian adults had never seen a generator up until that 2007 when they became popular; me I was born in Nigeria, in a hospital that was probably running on gen!!loool Let the Government of Ghana remove the log in their own eyes and sort out their own power issues before they start trying to fix us. GEJ has failed Nigeria in every way imaginable!!! So sad. |
Sadly, regardless of budget allocation, CORRUPTION will never allow Nigeria to progress!!! Sorry to be so pessimistic, but after over a decade of 'democratic' government, our leaders still don't have a clue! Come 2012 ending, the story wouldn't have changed much: soaring unemployment, lower quality of healthcare, more University strikes, more bomb blasts (we pray not sha), less EFCC convictions and incarcerations, more ripping off by oil companies and their telecommunication counterparts, More power failures, Nigeria, the story is always the same! |
The Problem with Nigeria is, 1. The people who have the mandate to improve the situation are not affected by them. 2. People are making bucket loads of money from the dysfunction. |
