Let me explain the exceptions. First when you say a guy cheats, it could be physical or emotional. The emotional is the most painful and usually begins from the physical.

A guy may cheat physically if he doesn't enjoy intimacy with his chosen one(prolly She lacks creativity in bed, complains about headaches and tiredness too often, gets lazy in maintaining her shape etc).

If the lady doesn't make necessary corrections in time, he starts cheating emotionally too because he would have had ample time to get a 'replacement' for her. He starts feeling comfortable to the extent of sharing his dreams, aspirations, problems etc with the new one and then an imminent collapse of the original relationship.
