Nairaland / General / SHOCKING!!! Weird! See Woman Who Discharges Maggot From Her Private Part (photo) by jchima14: 9:29pm On Oct 01, 2016

In Olakula area, Ipokia local government area of Ogun state, a woman identified as Iya Toheeb was reported on Wednesday, September 28, to have been continuously discharging maggot from her private part.

According to The Nation, the scene turned chaotic as residents trooped out to see the woman sat in a car with the assistance of family members and sympathizers. It was thought that she might have been a victim of money-making ritual after her condition allegedly defied orthodox medication.
It was gathered that the woman was also brought to one of the men she was associated with, a carpenter in the community. Of the reason for bringing the afflicted woman to the man, a source at the scene who asked not to be named, said:

“The woman was brought to the carpenter who was her former husband. Her family members believed that the man may be responsible for her worsening condition that defied treatment in hospital where she was admitted for months. Doctors were said to have advised her relatives to seek alternative medicine to her ill-health because it had gone beyond the purview of orthodox medicine.”

Another source, who did not want her name in print, said: “The woman had dated different men in the past and it is believed that she may have been used for money-making ritual going by what we heard from those who know her.”

At the scene, sympathizers helped spread a sack on the car seat on which the woman sat when the maggots continued to drop even as a stench emanating from her body fouled the air. “This is what my beauty has done to me o,” said the woman shortly before being taken away by her family members.

Gaming / Sports Betting: Man Hangs Himself In Uyo Over N22,000 Loss by jchima14: 6:38pm On Sep 08, 2016

A man in his early 30s, Mr. Uchenna, hanged himself in his room along Abak road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital, after losing N22,000 to sports betting. Our correspondent gathered that Uchenna was a perpetual sports gambler with Naija Bet and that he took the said sum he lost from his boss in the hope that he would replace it when he wins. Uchenna’s roommate, Ifiok, said the deceased had been lamenting after losing the money and got himself into a terrible state of mind.

“I went out to buy something from Plaza (the city center) and on getting back I found that everywhere was locked. I knew Uchenna hasn’t gone out and I wondered what must have made him to lock up himself. I tried to open the door for several minutes without success until I had to force it open. I then found him hanging from the ceiling fan in our room and his eyes had popped out,” Ifiok said. A neighbour who spoke to our correspondent, Uto Udobia, decried the high rate of sports betting which has become prevalent among the youths and even elders.

Politics / INEC To Announce Final Decision On Edo Election Date by jchima14: 10:43am On Sep 08, 2016

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it had begun consultation on the fate of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo, following call on it to postpone the exercise over security treat.

Mr Nick Dazang, Deputy Director of Voter Education and Publicity at INEC, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.
The Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) had earlier on Wednesday advised the commission to postpone the election over planned attacks in some communities in the state and others by suspected insurgents.

The Force Spokesman, Don Awunah, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, raised the alarm at a joint news conference by the police and the DSS in Abuja.
He said that “credible intelligence available to the agencies indicated plans by insurgent and extremist elements to attack vulnerable communities and soft targets’’.

Awunah said that Edo was among the states earmarked for the planned attacks by the extremists between Sept. 12 and Sept. 13.

He warned that while election was important, security agencies could allow the peace of the country to be disrupted.

Dazang told NAN that in the aftermath of the advice to postpone the election, INEC met with stakeholders in Benin to seek their views and inputs on the matter.

“We have consulted with the stakeholders, which are the political parties and their candidates as well as the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). We have finished the consultation with the stakeholders.

“ What the commission has resolved after the meeting is that it will go back and consult with the security agencies to find out the detail, because they are the ones that initiated that communication.

“After that, the commission will meet and take a decision,’’ Dazang said.

On the stakeholders’ reaction to the advice, he said “they were overwhelming in support of going forward with the election as scheduled’’.

“Most of the political parties, too, were in support but some of the parties were of the view that we should be careful and get more details on the information,’’ he added.

Dazang assured that the final decision of INEC, after all the consultations, would be made public without delay. (NAN)

The Council of State has approved the appointment of six new National Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and five National Commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).

Gov. Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State made this known in Abuja on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents on the outcome of the meeting of the Council of State. The meeting was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“We deliberated on the appointment of six national commissioners for INEC, you know INEC is supposed to have 12 Commissioners. “We had earlier approved six sometimes last year and additional six were actually approved today. “And those six represent six nominees from the six geo-political zones.

“You may wish to know that we approved five new commissioners for the national population commission, NPC in addition to what was actually approved for INEC,’’ he said. He gave the names of the six INEC commissioners to include Alhaji Mohammed Haruna (North Central); retired AVM Ahmed Tijjani Mu’azu (North East); and Abubakar Nahuce (North West).

Othera are Prof. Okechukwu Ibanu (South East); May Agbamuche Mbu (South South) and Dr Adekunle Ogumola from the South West. The NPC Commissioners, according to him, are Dr Eyitayo Oyetunji (Oyo); Patricia Iyaya (Benue); Benedict Ukpong (Akwa Ibom); Dr Haliru Bala (Kebbi) and Gloria Isofo from Bayelsa.

He stated that the council had earlier approved six INEC commissioners in Oct. 21, 2015. The governor further revealed that the council was also briefed on the state of the economy. “The minister of state from the Ministry of Budget and Planning actually made a presentation to council on the ways and manner in which the Federal Government is approaching the way to rescue the recession path that we are going through.

“Council was confident and also approved the measures the federal government is putting in ensuring that Nigeria goes on the path of recovery as quickly as possible.’’ Also addressing the correspondents on outcome of the meeting, Gov. “We deliberated on the confirmation of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP). “There was almost unanimous acceptance of his confirmation. So, the Police council resolved to confirm the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris,’’ he said.

The council meeting was attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, state governors, former Chief Justices of Nigeria (CJN) including Lawal Uwais, Dahiru Musdafa, Alfa Belgore and Alooma Muktar. The first meeting of the council under the current political dispensation, was held on Oct. 21, 2015.

Romance / 6 Responses To ‘I Love You’ That Dosen’t Mean ‘I Love You Too’ by jchima14: 5:01pm On Sep 06, 2016

The phrase “I love you” is our deepest expression of affection, but in some situations, the person we profess our love for say otherwise. We begin to wonder what they mean. If they say any of the underlisted, it time you sit the person down and really ask what they mean. These replies do not mean ‘i love you too’.

1. “Thank you.”

2. “I know.”

3. “You’re not too bad, yourself.”

4. “Why?”

5. “I’m sorry (ha ha ha)!”

6. Really?

Politics / Revealed! Top 3 Things Threatening President Buhari by jchima14: 4:06pm On Sep 05, 2016

Critics say the rave on which President Muhammadu Buhari came into power is fast dwindling, his name is barely pulling the same positive effect it had during the election period and the reasons are not far fetched.

Battling with age and some health issues that have seen him leave the country for treatment, President Buhari has been handed the toughest of tasks.
Having returned from his trip to the United Kingdom, the Nigerian president must get straight to it regarding the situation of the country.

Nigerians are looking to see where the country is headed and their final verdict regarding the APC-led dispensation will be how Buhari is able to handle three very pressing issues rocking the nation to its very foundation.

1. Economic crisis

Trade for many has come to a halt following the fluctuating value of the Naira. An increase in fuel price following the removal of subsidy has not made business any better for Nigerians.

The price of tomatoes and other food items means more troubles for a teeming masses that have been said to be living below a dollar per day.

Investigations reveal that the stiff economic situation in the country has stirred a mass migration of many people from the Urban cities like Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. The people cannot cope with the inflation and many ask if this is the promised change.

There are no jobs, many youths linger in the streets seeking opportunities that seem never to come. The APC-government has reportedly made provisions for a welfare package of N5000, but the question remains, what exactly will the monthly stipend do, especially in a time when prices are skyrocketing?

Salaries are being delayed and retrenchment seem now to be the order of the day. The Federal Government has moved to put a stop to the mass retrenchment, however, how will the firms survive with the number of staff they have, if business fails to thrive under the harsh business atmosphere in Nigeria?

President Buhari and his team are of the opinion that corruption is crippling the economy and the president has sworn to fight corruption to the latter. However, there are some who believe that Buhari has made his anti-corruption war selective.

There are also claims that the president is operating on a “damaging and outdated monetary policy”, hence the nose-dive experienced in economic growth.

Buhari has promised to diversify the Nigerian economy, however, that move seem coming too slow for the Nigerian people. The Nation remains ever dependent on its oil trade.

2. Terror groups

To say that Nigeria has become a nation whose people live in fear due to terrorism is not out of place. While the Nigerian army is still engaged in a fierce and almost never ending battle with Boko Haram in the northeast, there is a storm welling up within the south-south region of the country.

The situation within the Niger Delta region has become so very serious that virtually every other day, a new militant group emerges with requests of their own, most of which are totally unrealistic, hence, sending the message that the chances of really coming to an agreement with the FG is so slim.

There have been several attempts at negotiating with the militant groups within the Niger Delta, but no truce has been reached yet. Some have said that the renewed violence within the region is due to the loss of Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the last presidential election.

Those who favour this line of thought are of the believe that the people of the south-south are of the opinion that the north setup Boko Haram to cause a huge disruption in the Jonathan-led administration, hence the Niger Delta will use militants to cause chaos, now that a northerner is at the helm of affairs.

The Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) recently said that associates of former president, Goodluck Jonathan are using Niger Delta Avengers to destabilise the President Muhammadu Buhar’s led administration.

MEND alleged that one of the most prominent militant group in the region “the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), is the vehicle currently being used by Niger Delta political elite and associates of former President Goodluck Jonathan to destabilize President Buhari’s Government. It was these political juggernauts who are loathe to see President Buhari gain a foothold in the region.”

Once again, the Niger Delta has gone back to violence and vandalism, a development which further cripples the Nigerian economy. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) disclosed that it lost more than N19.43bn in the month of April, as the country’s crude oil production dropped from 59.27 million barrels recorded in February to 57.43 million barrels in March, due to growing acts of pipeline vandalisation in the Niger Delta region.

The corporation stated this in its Monthly Financial Report released in Abuja on Thursday where it also revealed that over 1,500 megawatts of electricity were lost as a result of the destruction of oil and gas facilities, adding that the capacity utilisation of the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company plummeted from 25.65 percent in March to 6.36 percent in April.

“The NNPC’s monthly financial and operations report indicate an operational loss of 19.43bn in April 2016 as against 18.89bn in the month of March 2016. The deficit increased by 2.83 per cent in the month of April 2016 due to a slight decline in revenue generation, which is attributed to the decrease in petroleum product sales by 7.11 per cent.

“The NPDC’s crude sale for the month is still hampered by Forcados pipeline vandalism, which continued to deny the NPDC of monthly crude oil revenue of about 20.0bn,” the report stated.

3. A civil war

The last Nigerian civil war which took place between July 6 1967 to January 15, 1970 led to the death of over two million civilians. Once again, the hand writings are on the wall, heralding that yet another bloody war is imminent.

Like a movie script, some Igbos have started to toe the same path which led to the Biafran war. Led by Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the pro-Biafrans have sworn to secede, claiming that Nigeria has dealt unfairly with the Igbo people.

Nnamdi Kanu is in custody, faced with charges bordering on treason, however, the Radio Biafra director’s fame has grown so much that he is seen by some as a messiah sent for the liberation of the Igbo nation, a very deadly ideology.

The massacre and arrest of pro-Biafra agitators has not in anyway helped issues, it seem like the more security operatives kill them, the stronger their resolve to see that Biafra Republic is actualized.

President Buhari is now saddled with the grave task of ensuring that Nigeria remains united, a task which many fear he might not be able to execute perfectly.

The battle for the unity of Nigeria gets intense everyday, especially in a time when the pro-Biafrans have embraced the Niger-Delta militants and are working in alliance to see that the country is divided.

Several calls have been made to see that the federal government sets Nnamdi Kanu free, however, there are fears that with his widespread fame, the pro-Biafra leader might become even more deadly than anyone thought. Analyst have said that the splitting of Nigeria seem inevitable, some even argue that it will take a miracle to see Nigeria remain united till the next general elections.

President Buhari has failed Nigeria is fast become the song on the lips of many. The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) described the one-year of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a dismal failure.

The group, through its head, Debo Adeniran, said the administration spent a full one year giving excuses and blaming its predecessor for the challenges in the country.

In the same vein, Chief Adeniyi Akintola (SAN) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari does not understand Nigeria. The senior advocate in pushing for the implementation of the 2014 Confab report said Buhari “isn’t a politician and he doesn’t understand the political arithmetic of Nigeria and he doesn’t understand the political geography.”

Politics / Plans By Militants To Attack Soldiers, Others In Niger Delta Exposed by jchima14: 3:27pm On Sep 05, 2016

War is brewing and the militants in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria have asked residents around major oil and gas facilities across the region to evacuate with immediate effect in order not to end up as casualties of militancy.

Announcing the order, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM) said all marked facilities in the region have been rigged with explosives at strategic points, waiting to be detonated, adding that the detonation was being held back because of the people in the environment.
“One more time, we are warning and at the same time appealing to residents around major oil and gas facilities across our region to please evacuate immediately. “This warning has become necessary because of the fact that we do not wish any of our people, for whom we have taken up this crusade, to become casualties of our campaign.

“All the marked facilities in all the states have been rigged with explosives at strategic points, waiting to be detonated. “We are only being slowed down because of the presence of those still living close by. This struggle will only cease when the adversarial Nigerian system yields to reason,” a statement by the group’s spokesman, Aldo Agbalaja read.

NDGJM warned the Federal Government to be wary of Chief Edwin Clark, insisting that the ceasefire declared by the elder statesman on behalf of militants was “a big fat lie, another charade.”

the group maintained that there was no reason yet for the group to halt its assault against oil facilities when the government was “yet to move a muscle to respond to our requests,” adding the group has no member or talking leader by the name ODU.

“This said call and the so-called ceasefire is all a job, just like the Ijaw-dominated, Clark convened Niger Delta stakeholders meeting in Effurun was, they both are meant to justify money they hope to obtain from government.

“The high command of the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate uses this medium to alert the world to disregard this fraud. We have our means of communicating, definitely not a call. With this development, if the Nigerian security system is serious about catching frauds and militants, they should get those who claimed to have spoken on phone with ODU, they should still have his physical contacts.

“When we make our next ‘LOUD’ statement, they should go after ODU, who just claimed to be the leader of the mandate,” the statement added.

The group has also reaffirmed its lack of confidence in the Chief Edwin Clark-led team to dialogue with the federal government. The group insisted it has not appointed anyone or group to go into negotiating with anybody or government on its behalf.

The group, in a statement signed by Gen. Aldo Agbalaja, warned the federal government to be wary of the antics of some leaders in the region who out of desperation to make money are capable of doing anything to defraud anyone in the guise of championing the course of the Niger Delta region.

Politics / DSS Arrests Boko Haram Terrorists’ Bomb Specialist Who Tried To Join The Army by jchima14: 10:37am On Sep 05, 2016

The statement said: “In response to the regrouping of Boko Haram elements in Kano state, the service in concert with the military, carried out coordinated operations in the state which led to the apprehension of two high profile members of the sect, namely; Ibrahim Ustaz Abubakar and Idris Audu (aka Aya).

Politics / MUST READ: Obasanjo Speaks About Buhari’s 2019 Presidential Bid by jchima14: 10:25am On Sep 05, 2016

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has denied report that he has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against seeking re-election in 2019.

Vanguard reports that the former president was reacting to the claim made by Alex Nwokedi, his former chief press secretary that Obasanjo had warned Buhari not to contest in the 2019 presidential election.
In a statement issued by Kehinde Akinyemi who is his media aide on Sunday, September 4 Obasanjo said he has not spoken to his former press secretary in three years and wondered how he got the information.

The former president described the news as false and destructive and said he was not against Buhari contesting for presidency in 2019.

He said: “My belief is that democracy allowed for anybody including President Buhari for that matter to contest any election and it is the prerogative rights of Nigerians to vote or not to vote for them.

“I have not communicated with Alex in the last three years, so how could a story be credited to me, when I did not authorize such or communicate with him in the last three years?

“Not even me, can advise my children not to seek for elective post. It is part of freedom of democracy.

“I condemn in the most highest manner the story and those behind it. And for those behind it, they are simply enemies of democracy and freedom of expression.”

Obasanjo said that he is still committed to the peace and progress of the country’s democratic development.

He assured that Nigeria’s democracy would bring relief in no distance future with patience and understanding of the country’s masses

Politics / Bukola Saraki Is A Corrupt Man – Oyedepo by jchima14: 9:59am On Sep 05, 2016

Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo is the Kwara state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and he is a lawyer after being called to the Bar in 1984.

In this interview Oyedepo explained how Kwarans have been under Saraki’s bondage stressing that the Nigeria Senate President is a corrupt leader.
Which political positions have you held in the past?

They are many but let me capture the limelight offices. In 1992, I was the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Kwara State, later I also became Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Corporative before being installed as the Chairman of Democratic Party of Nigeria Kwara State Branch. I served as a legislature in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2003 and was the Chief Whip.

When did you become the Chairman of PDP Kwara State Branch?

I became the Chairman of this great party on 15th February 2014.

Is there any iota of truth that Senate President Bukola Saraki is a secret member of PDP?

As far am concerned I don’t have any information to that extent. He isn’t a member of my party. If you say he is secret member, Am not supposed to know anything secret if it is something in the dark to me. I think he is from Ajikobi Ward and he isn’t in the register of the party. I don’t see him as a member, he might be romancing but he is far being part of us for now.

Many have claimed that PDP had grounded the Nigerian economy. Are you surprised at the allegation?

That depends on the interpretations and where you stand. I am a member of PDP and won’t join the bandwagon of people who have the perception that the country was grounded by my dearest party. For the records, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan left with the economy in a buoyant state.

It was the biggest in Africa according to statistics. When you look at the indices of products like Petroleum and other lucrative things it was impressive before this current administration came on board. The issue of grounding the economy is beyond Jonathan. I wish to discuss along that line rather than narrowing it to GEJ’s tenure.

We have never had any buoyant economy since the 1960 Independence. You measure the performance of a country by the productive aspect. We haven’t been producing from the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida till date. Any economy that isn’t producing is already grounded. We have been living on borrowed time for more than 25 years. It has been a case of importation of food, clothes, petroleum and so on.

Industries have been folding up on daily basis. When things were good during our time, we could see paper industries at Jebba making waves. We didn’t know the country had fallen because of our over-reliance on Petroleum and we were spending. Nigeria was like a rent nation, people come here to do the job for us and we then take commission. This country is suffering from the failure of leadership.

As an opposition in Kwara State, what has been the impact of PDP since 2015?

We are an opposition in this State and our intention is to make the best of it. Right now we had put some machineries in place to be effective. For instance we organise a radio program that is always making the current administration to shiver. They wanted to stop it but haven’t been able successful in their attempts. Our activities is geared towards enlightening the people of Kwara State. It is even glaring to the kid that politics here is dominated by one man. There is no proper democracy and it is a primitive way of running the affairs of the people.

Political activities is money laden and people that are controlling the system rely on raw cash. It takes another method to bring the populace out of money culture in politics. We have been able to create political consciousness through socialization of the people, we make them to be aware of how they are ruled. That is working very well.

For now we have been operating with one radio station, in about a month it will be increased to two or three. Before December 2016, we intend to have our own Newspaper medium domesticated to the struggle. We are really in a serious struggle for supremacy for supremacy in Kwara State. We are lucky that the environment is suitable now. People that have been deceived for long realise what is right or wrong.

Can you rate Muhammadu Buhari’s performance so far as the President of Nigeria?

To me he was prepared to take over power but wasn’t ready for governance. He doesn’t understand the nitty-gritty of a proper political system. Where is the change document? I didn’t say that an economy that has been basterdised over three decades should be fixed by Buhari within one year.

I am judging him on the near absence of policies that can provide hope or road map to where he should take this country to. We are operating without policy. Even the anti corruption war that he is fighting isn’t about just imprisonment of personalities.

This government doesn’t have a clue on what they want to do, therefore we don’t have any document of assessment. Whether they have taken us from level one to two, we aren’t aware. We don’t have any document to access them. When Buhari shed tears after losing the Presidential election in 2011, I was touched because I felt he was so loaded and prepared to take the nation to the Promise Land. One year into his regime, I asked again, why was the man shedding tears then? Where we are going to in this country is still a riddle.

Don’t get me wrong, the man didn’t spoil the whole thing. I don’t really have a clue as to where he is taking us to. It appears to be a hopeless situation. Nobody was elected with the calibre of people he assembled to be part of Government. One might have thought he should have settled for young and vibrant ideas and not the tired minds. The whole process appears hopeless.

The economy has been in serious recession for some time. As an expert what do you think went wrong?

We have a government that is misplacing priorities. If I was at the helms of affairs whether at the Federal or State level, my major concern will be centred on empowerment of the people and developing the human capital. That should be the major focus of an economy in recession.

How do you empower the Citizens so that they will leave the streets for factories and exploitation of minerals? How many have we empowered to work? Agriculture should be the focus. Farmers should be encouraged to access loans. Instead of importing luxury cars, we should concentrate our efforts in making modern day tractors get to the rural areas.

Industrialisation should be encouraged too. When a government in recession is planning to renovate the airport and over head bridges, there is a big problem. We need innovations that can make people to work, whenever you go out and see young people engaged in vices, talents and resources are wasted.

Critics have the mindset that PDP is in oblivion in Kwara State. What are the structures and plans put in place by the party to be a force to be reckoned with?

If this party is in the wilderness in Kwara, the state government won’t be jittery in respect to our weekly program. At a time like this, our duty is to make sure that the rulers are accountable to the ruled. We are so effective that the government had to report us to the Police for incitement.

Can they come out and say we are in oblivion? Ours is to criticise them and offer solutions to what isn’t properly done. I don’t believe in violence in opposition politics. We have conducted ourselves in a mature manner and carried out our activities the way it should be. At the national level, we have some challenges. It isn’t unusual.

We were in power for 16 years. During that time it wasn’t democracy that knitted the party together, it was governmental authority. Internal democracy is now practised in the party and the men are just learning the new structure. I can assure you that within the next 12 months we will overcome the problems and be a strong force. We will have a vibrant party, capable of running a robust internal democracy.

The factional Chairman of the PDP Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has vowed not to recognise the Ahmed Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee terming it as an illegal body. What do you think?

The court of law hasn’t pronounced Caretaker illegal. There has been some many conflicting judgements all over. It is only the Court of Appeal that can make pronouncement to the effect. Ali Modu Sherif has been told not to parade himself as the National Chairman of PDP. It was a convention that made Makarfi the Caretaker.

The convention is the highest decision making body in our party. Three months was given to Makarfi in July and was recently extended for another one year. I can’t explain how Sherif was elected as the Supremo of PDP.

In the midst of the ongoing economic crisis in Nigeria, rumours had emanated that top officials of the PDP have called on President Buhari to throw in the towel. How true is this?

You are just informing me that our party hierarchy have called for the resignation of Buhari as the President of Nigeria. If they have called for that it is a matter of party opinion. I don’t believe when there are challenges in the country the President should chicken out. He should carry his cross and face the challenges ahead of him. If PDP calls for this it shows the enormous problems we have, probably those who want this have the mind of showing the whole world the failure of the present dispensation. However, I don’t think PMB will resign, I expect him to exhaust his tenure and probably seek re-election in 2019.

There has been insinuation from some sections of the media as regards dis unit in the ranks of the PDP. As a peace loving man, do you think it is the best for the image of the party?

Disunity is a pest and can’t help anybody. It is an absurd phenomena that shouldn’t exist in the political system. It make news. If there is peace you can make plans. Even in Kwara State, we have dosages of disunity which has been well managed. Disunity isn’t helping and that explains why we are going through reconciliatory meetings. By the special grace of God we shall overcome the monster.

Chibok Girls. Is it a reality or scam?

I won’t join people that term it a scam. I think it is a reality because parents came out and revealed that their children were involved in the unfortunate incident. I don’t expect someone who is sane to say his children is missing, some people came out to explain how they escaped and there are some video clips to prove that it is a reality. On the basis of what I have seen I don’t think it is a scam. It is an unfortunate situation.

What can you say about the trouble going on in the Niger Delta?

It is part and parcel of Nigerian problem. We have to be very candid on it. When the late Umar Yaradua was in power, he granted them Amnesty and for that period there was peace. Jonathan continued, there was peace. Initially, when the current regime came on board they said that they won’t pay the Amnesty fee again, well that could be provocative.

Our politics is still devoid of merits. There is what is known Pri Modial interests in Politics. Despite the decision of PMB to make a u-turn on his earlier stance, there is still crisis in the Niger-Delta region. There is more to it I must confess. Let me make reference to the pattern of voting in the 2015 Presidential election.

Virtually all the Northern States went against Jonathan. He was unable to pull 25% votes from that part of the country. He didn’t make the grade in Bayelsa, Rivers and one or two South/South regions. Those are the key areas of these Niger-Delta people. Some of them might be interpreting the 2015 polls as an election that was against them. Why didn’t you allow our own child run for second term? They might be aggrieved. The election reflected the serious diversity in Nigeria.

What are the plans by PDP to launch itself back to reckoning in the Nigerian political system?

PDP will bounce back, you can be rest assured of that. Within the next one year we hope to constitute a new executive to usher us to greater heights. The last one year has been used to re-strategize. The people that took over from us aren’t doing well. They lack ideas and are very clueless as regards governance.

Except any other party just crop up and overtake the PDP we remain the next alternative after the failure of APC. I’m sure they will fail because they aren’t united. We have never had it so bad in this country like what we are currently going through.

The Executive, Legislature and even the Judiciary has been tainted by them. We have a National Assembly that isn’t credible, the Executive is too slow and clueless. Our future is being worked for us by some benevolent spirits. We are taking over in 2019.

The trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki has been trending for a long time. What do you think might be the end result?

It has been long overdue. I wrote not less than five petitions against Saraki when he was the Governor of Kwara State to the EFCC and ICPC. He had a way of getting himself off the hook during the last three regimes. Now that Buhari is there, he has been able to make him face the Courts on two or three charges.

There is another allegation that has been levelled against 31 ex-Governors. Saraki is number one in the list. The good thing about this scrutinization process is to make politicians to be cautious and treat public money with trust. Some politicians view public fund as personal property. If the Senate President could be properly tried, convicted or freed. If he is not guilty, he can’t be convicted.

Are you insinuating that Saraki is guilty of the allegations levelle against him?

How will I get to know? He is going though the process. It is for the Court to pronounce him guilty or not guilty. Let him be prosecuted and go through the normal court process. If he is exonerated or guilty, good for him.

You were one of those who wrote petitions against Saraki when he was the Executive Governor of Kwara State. Can you elucidate more on that?

I wrote several petitions on the ways he governed Kwara State as regards meddling with Local Government and Universal Basic Education funds. Illegal deductions of Local Government allocations and selling of public properties are also some of the allegations levelled against him. My petitions is one of the basis for his trial.

Government didn’t have the will to prosecute him earlier than now. We have always told the whole world that Senator Bukola Saraki is a corrupt leader. We haven’t stopped speaking for what is right. It is just unfortunate that the system spared him till this time.

Luckily, Buhari is better than other people that tried to hide his dirty linen and now he is being prosecuted. We are not saying he stole but we have alleged. It is left for the appropriate institutions to thoroughly carry out their investigation and be truthful in their judgements.

What will you like to be remembered for as Chairman of PDP Kwara State chapter?

I want Kwara to be free. We have been in bondage for almost 40 years. Late Olusola Saraki was the kingpin of Kwara politics for a very long time. During that period, democracy wasn’t allowed to grow. The application of democracy becomes autocratic when it is dominated by one man and one family. We fought seriously against such slavery.

When the father died, the son pretended to be the Messiah of another years of bondage which won’t happen again in this great state. I’m leading the freedom fighters and I want to be remembered as somebody who played a huge role in the independence of Kwara from the Sarakis’.

Are you saying that the Senate President and his late father put Kwara State in a mess?

Olusola Saraki started controlling Kwara politics in the 70s’ before passing the baton to his son Bukola. I can’t just comprehend the fact that it has been a one man show all these hefty years. It is only in Kwara that such happens. Has it brought about development and progressiveness?

This is a state where the country know that we have a corrupt leadership. When Bukola was given the seat of Senate President about 15 charges was levelled against him. Money laundering, embezzlement, looting and false declaration – all happened when he was the Governor of Kwara State. Is Kwara State not in bandage? If you see people like me fighting against such it is because I want a better future for the state.

Politics / TRUE/FALSE: Boko Haram Has Been Totally Defeated – President Buhari by jchima14: 1:49pm On Aug 27, 2016

President Muhammadu Buhari has informed the international community about Nigeria’s progress in the fight against terrorism.

In a statement issued by Femi Adesina, the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Buhari made his speech at the ongoing sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) in Nairobi, Kenya.

The president also informed that Nigeria will diligently ensure full rehabilitation of victims of Boko Haram and find lasting solutions to combat threats of terrorism in the country.

The statement read in part: “The bottom line is that these problems are our primary responsibility. We must tackle them and find lasting solutions for ourselves.”

Accordingly, President Buhari told the summit attended by Japan’s prime minister, Shinzo Abe, some 35 African leaders and chief executives of at least 80 major companies from Japan, that international cooperation with Nigeria was central in the decimation of Boko Haram terror group.

He said: “I took over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria when the North-Eastern part of the country was being ravaged by Boko Haram.

“However, soon after assumption of office, our administration with the support of our immediate neighbours — Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Benin- and international partners including Japan, faced the challenge frontally.

“As I speak, the terror group has been decimated and life is beginning to return to normal in the affected region. The challenge we currently face which is also being addressed, is that of the IDPs which number over two million to get them re-integrated with their families and their original homes.”

On global health issues, which is a major focal point of the summit, President Buhari expressed special appreciation to the government of Japan for its contribution of $800 million to the fight against malaria, tuberculosis among others.

The contribution is part of the 1.3 billion dollars made available to the Nigerian health sector by the Global Fund.

On the gains of TICAD, the president noted that partnerships between Africa and Japan will help create and improve investment opportunities in industries, agriculture, information technology, science and technology among others for the good of the continent and investors from Japan.

“In view of the challenges Africa is facing, the imperative for a viable partnership like the Tokyo International Conference on African Development cannot be over emphasized.

“Today, many countries in Africa including the oil producing ones are wisely seeking to diversify their economies away from mono-cropping.

“In Nigeria, our Administration has already taken concrete steps to diversify the economy by making agriculture not just a development programme but a thriving business.

“Investing in the economies of this continent especially through Public-Private-Partnership can contribute to building capacity for our economies,” the president added.

The 2-day summit with the theme Advancing Africa’s Sustainable Development Agenda-TICAD Partnership for Prosperity, is being held outside of Japan for the first time since its inception in 1993.

Among other things, TICAD aims to solve Africa’s development problems through quality technology in the health, industry, agriculture and environment sectors.

A draft declaration to be adopted at end of the summit will seek to combat the growing threats of terrorism, conflicts and violent radicalism through the promotion of education and job creation.

Sadly for Buhari, some Nigerians are demanding the return of former president, Goodluck Jonathan following the present state of the Nigerian economy.

The clamour for Jonathan’s return was triggered by statement credited to Reno Omokri, the former special assistant on new media to Jonathan, that the former president handed over the best Nigerian government and the largest economy in Africa to President Buhari.

Reno Omokri, in a series of tweets on Wednesday, August 24, highlighted some favourable conditions which were existed when Jonathan handed over the reins of power to the Buhari-led administration.

Omokri said the Nigerian economy was booming when Jonathan handed over to Buhari, adding that trains were working when the present administration took over from the Jonathan administration.

Politics / Governor Bello Reveals Who Beat Him After Friday Prayers by jchima14: 12:57pm On Aug 27, 2016

The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has denied reports that he was stoned during a Jumaat prayer in Lokoja, the state capital on Friday.

Reports earlier had it that Bello was stoned over non-payment of salaries during Jumaat prayers at the Lokoja central Mosque to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the creation of the state.
But reacting to the report, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, said some hired miscreants were caught with stones while trying to attack secirity operatives.

Fanwo in a statement said, “Our attention has been drawn to the unfortunate incident, which occurred during the Jumaat Prayer at the Lokoja Central Mosque to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the creation of Kogi State.

“It was discovered that some sponsored miscreants caused a mild drama as they were caught with stones, while one of them attacked one of the security aides of the Governor.

“The gallant market women at the Lokoja Old Market accosted the perpetrators and stopped them from absconding from the scene in solidarity with the Governor.

“The Governor wishes to thank the market women and security agencies, who rose to the occasion to protect lives and property at the scene of the unfortunate incident. No life was lost and no serious injury was recorded.

“We can also confirm that arrests have been made and those arrested are already giving useful information to security agents investigating the politically motivated attack at the Mosque.

“Governor Yahaya Bello has also urged his supporters to remain calm and not take the law into their hands as he remained committed to the cardinal ideals of his administration. Imported and sponsored miscreants, who have infiltrated the state from neighbouring states should know that Kogi is prepared to protect her citizens from desperate politicians who think they can turn the state to a war zone. The people of Kogi will be protected.

“We are not unaware of scheming by change resistors to sponsor attacks against government officials. The staff verification exercise has come to stay because it has exposed powerful forces, who have been milking the state dry. Sponsoring attacks against the Governor will not stop our march to restore sanity to the polity.

“The administration of Governor Yahaya Bello will soon publish the names of corrupt citizens of the state who are behind the Ghost Workers syndrome.

“Governor Yahaya Bello thanks the people of the state for standing resolutely behind his administration to restore the lost glory of the state.

“We know some failed politicians who have been jolted by the giant strides of the Governor are holding on the last straw. We remain undaunted and committed to the development of the State.”

Events / Watch An Epic Fight To The Death Between The Huge Snake And Giant Alligator! (PH by jchima14: 11:52am On Aug 27, 2016
Most people are afraid of such monsters as a giant python snake and a huge alligator. But how about they fight each other? Oh, we love that! You can enjoy the scene from the safety of your home.

This video is amazing and it has gone viral. Both reptiles got injured badly, but the fight is fascinating. They met in a river. None of them hesitated to engage in the fight. Python has tried all sorts of its deadly tricks on the alligator: biting, suffocating, strangling.
However, alligator seemed to be pretty invincible for them all. On the other hand, alligator tried biting and cutting off the head of the snake. None of them succeeded, but alligator retracted the first because it got pretty tired of the fight.

So, we can name the winner, but you better do it yourself after you watch the video! It is incredible and so fun to watch. Every moment of it you rejoice over the fact that you see it from the safety of your house.

Business / Naira Crashes To Lowest Rate Ever, Checkout New Rate by jchima14: 10:43am On Aug 27, 2016

Nigeria’s currency Naira has crashed to its lowest level ever since the foreign exchange policy, trading at N412/$1 at parallel market on Friday, August 26.

The fall of the naira is coming shortly after the suspension of nine banks from the foreign exchange market, hence, making the greenback more difficult to get.
According to Reuters on account of local traders, some Bureau de change operators have been finding it difficult to access their forex account and get dollar supply after the central bank suspended nine commercial lenders from the market, putting further pressure on the local currency.

The banks were barred for hiding over $2.12 billion belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and failed to remit the funds into the Treasury Single Account, a claim some of them have denied.

The affected banks include; United Bank for Africa (UBA), Sterling Bank Plc, Sky Bank Plc, Keystone Bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Heritage Bank, Fidelity Bank, Diamond Bank, First Bank.

Health / See Why This Indian Man Was Forced To Carry Wife’s Dead Body For Miles (photos) by jchima14: 1:03pm On Aug 26, 2016
A Poor Indian man had no choice but to carry his dead wife on his shoulder for seven miles when a hospital would not pay for her to be taken home.

A footage has emerged showing an impoverished man carrying the body of his dead wife along a road after the hospital she died in allegedly failed to provide an ambulance.
Dana Majhi was filmed with his wife over his shoulders wrapped in sheets and his heartbroken teenage daughter by his side as he headed towards his home nearly 50 miles from the hospital in Bhawanipatna town, India.
By the time an ambulance arrived, courtesy of local youths who alerted officials, Mr Majhi had walked over seven miles towards his home in Melghar village.

Mr Majhi’s 42-year-old wife died from tuberculosis on Wednesday morning and he said that he requested a vehicle to transport the body home for the last rites.

However, he claimed that there was no response, that hospital staff insisted that he move the body and that he couldn’t afford a private ambulance.

He told Indian Express: ‘I requested everyone, but no one listened. What option did I have other than carrying her?’

He added: ‘Since I am a poor man and could not hire a private vehicle, I had no choice,’ according to the BBC.

Romance / If Your Husband Satisfies You In These 2 Things, Never Leave His Side by jchima14: 11:24am On Aug 26, 2016
There is no such thing as a perfect match or a soap-opera romance. Symphonies don’t sound when real-life couples kiss. Yet, life is much more intense than the dramatic television shows we eagerly watch.

Although your own love life is not like the movies, if you know who you are and what you like, you can create a remarkable love.
If you were to write up a list of all the characteristics you are looking for in a man, I would venture to say you would have at least 10 things on it: physical appearance, profession, social status, economic status, sense of humor, personality, goals, religion, political views, hobbies, etc.

However, we go through life and sooner or later we realize there is no perfect human being who meets all the characteristics on our list. This realization then makes us prioritize our list of qualities. Research shows there are really only a few things needed for a relationship to survive.

If your partner provides you with these four things, your relationship will flourish in love.

- Tenderness and loyalty

These two qualities create a strong emotional connection.

Loyalty, or fidelity, is a sign he is committed and connected to you. But it is much more than a commitment; it is a promise that he will be with you no matter what. A man is loyal and faithful when he places his wife’s needs above his own. He exhibits this faithfulness when he understands the needs of his wife will not always be the same as his own. He is loyal and true when he respects his children and chooses to never stop loving you no matter what.

Tenderness, or affection, goes right along with loyalty. And if your husband is completely loyal and expresses his loyalty tenderly, there is no doubt he loves you. Only love causes a human being to behave this way.

- Vitality and passion

It is no wonder most male models are muscular and strong in appearance. Women are undeniably attracted to men who exude an ability to protect and provide for them.

While everyone tells you that physical appearance is not important, that is not entirely true. What is certain is that the man you love does not have to be a magazine model. All he has to do is meet certain expectations you involuntarily feel.

These requirements are not about muscles; rather they are about what being with him does to your body, mind and heart.

If the man by your side revives you and makes you excited to be near him, there is no doubt he makes you feel protected. His energy revitalizes you.

Intimacy between the two of you plays an important role in the health of your relationship. And intimacy is more than what happens between the two of you in the bedroom. It is the chemistry you feel when you’re around one another. It is the magic that occurs when you find him to be the sexiest and most handsome guy in the world (even if the rest of humanity does not agree).

If your man provides you with tenderness, loyalty, vitality and passion, do not be afraid to show him your appreciation. Let him know of your love for him – it will ensure the man of your dreams never leaves your side.

Celebrities / See Top 20 World Highest-paid Actors In 2016 by jchima14: 10:53am On Aug 26, 2016
Johnson commanded $64.5 million between June 2015 and June 2016, more than doubling his earnings from the previous year and bumping Robert Downey Jr. from the top of the list, where he was perched for three consecutive years. A bulk of Johnson’s earnings come from his roles in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, the disaster movie “San Andreas,” and the HBO series “Ballers,” as well as upfront fees for “Fast 8” and the “Baywatch” movie
Johnson ranked No. 11 last year with around $31 million.
“Want to say two things about this,” Johnson tweeted about the news. “I started w/$7 bucks. If I can overcome, so can you. Waffle House on me!”

Downey dropped down to eighth with $33 million, tying with Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Jackie Chan was runner-up again with $61 million, thanks to hits at the Chinese box office. Matt Damon demanded $55 million following the success of “The Martian.” Tom Cruise ($53 million) and Johnny Depp ($48 million) rounded out the top five.
Johnson earned about $20 million more than his female counterpart, Jennifer Lawrence. “The Hunger Games” heroine topped Forbes’ highest-paid actresses list on Tuesday with $46 million — 72% of Johnson’s income. She comes in sixth on the overall list (ahead of Ben Affleck, who made $43 million), further highlighting Hollywood’s ever-present gender pay gap, which the actress wrote a scathing essay about last year.

Combined, the top 10 men on the list earned $457 million, more than double the top 10 women’s $205 million pay. Additionally, 18 actors reeled in more than $20 million, versus four on the actresses’ side.

The lists also shows that women over 40 earn less than men at the same age. In fact, 95% of the top-earning actors are over 40, compared to half of the actresses. At 26, Lawrence is the youngest actor on both lists, while Harrison Ford is the oldest.

Here are the 20 highest-paid actors:

1. Dwayne Johnson — $64,500,00
2. Jackie Chan — $61,000,000
3. Matt Damon — $55,000,000
4. Tom Cruise — $53,000,000
5. Johnny Depp — $48,000,000
6. Ben Affleck — $43,000,000
7. Vin Diesel — $35,000,000
8. Shah Rukh Khan — $33,000,000
9. Robert Downey Jr. — $33,000,000
10. Akshay Kumar — $31,500,000
11. Brad Pitt — $31,500,000
12. Adam Sandler — $30,000,000
