Webmasters / Re: Step By Step Guide On How To Convert Casual Visitors To Loyal Customers by jchima14: 9:41am On Dec 15, 2017
jchima14:
How do you convert a casual internet user visiting your website for the first time into a loyal customer who will keep buying things from you many years after?

Answer: Lead generation
Lead generation is the process of enticing or piquing potential consumer interest so that he/she makes enquiry into (or purchase) products or services of a business (most times in exchange for something of value which such business offers).

The key strategy of lead generation is to entice or bond with the potential customers enough to the extent that she trusts you enough to drop her contact information which you, the business owner can use to reach her sometime in future. These contact info include Name, email, phone number, address etc.

The truth is, the more leads you have, the more paying customers you will likely get in the long run. This is because; people naturally buy things from people they know and trust.

Obviously, the question is “how do you entice potential customers enough to want to make an enquiry about your products or services?”

In this article, I shall show you some very unique tested and trusted ways to generate more leads through your website.

1. Establish a bond (Trust) with your website visitors:
What is the level of trust or rapport between you and your site visitors?

You should use your website as an avenue to educate and enlighten your prospective customers more about your company, your products and the services you offer.

When your visitors know more about your business and the services you offer, they will begin to have enough faith in you to leave you their contact information.

Don’t just focus on discussing about your sales all the time, educate them more on your niche so they can believe that you are a thought leader in your industry. When they ask a question on your social channels, answer promptly. Establish personal relationship with them..

With this you can convert your website visitors into leads who will eventually purchase something from you and become your customers.

Blog Regularly:
How will blogging regularly result in lead generation for me?

You should know that the most reliable and effective way of building rapport with potential clients is by adding free interesting and quality contents (which they can’t find anywhere else) to your website on a regular basis.

e.g. If you are a study abroad consultant and you have a blog that lists the latest scholarships for undergraduate students. Don’t you think your potential customers will find this type of information interesting? So now, when they want to hire a consultant to help them with processing their admission abroad, who do you think they will hire?

One thing about blogging is that the more interesting contents you dish out;

– The more you drive traffic to your website,

– The more you get your visitors to stay more on your website,

– The more you get noticed by google for ranking and finally,

– The more you stand above 80% chance of getting potential customers to trust you.

Lead generation is an ongoing relationship. And blogging is the way to keep that relationship going. It just doesn’t happen in one day.

Create active Online Chat Option
Most companies just create live chat option and leave it unattended.

The truth is that, live chat can help generate more leads through your website more than any other strategy you can think of – irrespective of your industry.

It gives you an opportunity to interact directly with potential customers viewing your website.

An Interactive session with your website visitors who may be procrastinating to call you through Mobile phone can turn them into your leads instantly.

Talking with a site visitor creates instant rapport.

Use call tracking strategy to get more leads:
This can help you track leads that result from users visiting your website.

And since your call tracking numbers will link directly to your main mobile number, there won’t be any controversy on how your phone leads are managed.

The gathering of all these data will help to determine where your money is best spent on getting leads – then focus on that to generate more leads.

If you are neglecting phone call tracking, just bear in mind that either you or whoever responds to your calls is always asking how the customer got to know about your business.

Create testimonial page
Testimonies from customers have proven to be one of the most effective ways to generating more leads through your website.

This is very simple!

Create a page (with a form) where your customers who have used your products/service can drop their contact information, testify and give their recommendations as well.

Don’t just open testimonial page with texts only, also include photos of those testifiers, to boost the credibility of the testimonies. People believe what they see without much argument. .

Take note of which pages on your website is getting the most views:
It is rather very important for you to know the exact pages of your websites where majority of your visitors visit most.

This would help you identify the areas you have more clicks and less clicks. Then you can add lead generating forms to those pages with more clicks.

While adding forms you want to use to generate leads through your website, ensure that you are offering something of value in return. This is because nobody will give you her contact details without expecting to get something of far more value in return.

Finally,

You should also include your mobile phone contact and address.

The absence of your business contacts will definitely doubt the authenticity and credibility of your company and would definitely limit viewers from having a direct contact with you.

Nevertheless, the implementation of the above tips will surely help you lead generation campaign thereby increasing your customer base and brand recognition.

Business / 5 Things You Must Remember Before Using Jiji To Sell Your Products In Nigeria by jchima14: 3:24pm On Dec 12, 2017
Using Jiji to sell your products in Nigeria can be quite easy and rewarding if you are an internet savvy digital marketer.

However, if you are just an internet novice who just wants to use the classified ad listing platform to market a product because everyone else says it’s good idea, it can become quite complicated.

In business, nothing brings more joy than knowing the best tactics to use in marketing your products and services.

Like Jumia, Konga, etc., Jiji is one of the most popular marketing platforms that help business owners to sell their products online in Nigeria.

How would you feel, having thousands of deals everyday? I’m sure you will always have that lively smile that lingers on the face of every happy man.

Jiji can be very useful in selling your products and services online if you know what you are doing.

In this post, I have outlined 5 important things you must be aware of before using Jiji to sell your products in Nigeria.

1. Use REAL Quality images
A quality image promotes the originality of a product and makes it more appealing to buyers. But more importantly, it must be the exact image of the product you want to put up for sale.

2. Ads Promotion
To use Jiji to sell your products in Nigeria is free. But if you want to get quick sales and turnover, you must actively promote your ads make it more visible to potential customers. In order to promote your product, upon completion and ads uploads to your Jiji account, it is necessary for you to share your ads on different social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, instagram etc. where your followers can see the ads and probably click the share button.

3. Know who your target audience’s are and post in the best category
The truth is a product can be appealing to different kinds of people who may likely have different needs and goals. In other words, every product has its target buyers. And you must know that these target audience visit specific categories on the Jiji website.

4. Always be available
Do you know that one of the worst things you can do using Jiji to sell your products is to be unavailable when a potential customer needs your product or service. A serious marketer must always be accessible and available at all times.

5. Product Description
Most business owners have failed in this part. It’s not enough to just place your product images on Jiji. It must come with detailed product description. A well described product sells itself because it provides potential customers with all the information they need concerning the product to make a decision.

E.g., Let’s say you sell laptop on Jiji. If you don’t have a description of the specifications of laptops you sell, do you think customers will have the time to ask you about it? I doubt. So to be on a safe side, make sure your products go along with a description.

Final thoughts
Marketing your products on Jiji doesn’t require any special digital marketing skills. But it does require you to remember to use well described high quality product images and to always be available to pick your calls when potential customers call.

If you remember the above things, you’ll have better chances of using Jiji to sell your products in Nigeria successfully.

Good Luck!!

Business / 6 Simple Strategies To Make Money Online In Nigeria by jchima14: 4:03pm On Dec 11, 2017
How can I make money online in Nigeria?

This is the first question most website owners and bloggers ask when I interact with them.

Then I in turn ask them, how do you make money right now? Or What are you good at?

Then they go like, “I sell this, I sell that”. “I work in this or that company”. I can do ABC or XYZ very well.

Then I tell them, “That is exactly how you make money online”.

Truth is,

In order to make money online in Nigeria, you simply have to do online what you are already good at offline. Just provide value for people.

There is actually no difference between making money online and offline.

Therefore, in this post, I will reveal 6 simple strategies you can use to make money online in Nigeria without much stress.
Now, these are just suggestions to get you started. Always make sure you focus only on what you are uniquely good at.

Selling a service or product
In fact, if you have ever thought of making money online in Nigeria, this is the simplest route to take. It is the simple process of using the internet to reach more people who will patronize you.

For example, if you sell Brazilian hair, all you have to do is create really beautiful advert copies (with product images) and place them on Facebook, Nairaland etc. Then create a landing page where people can place order online. So when they place order, you deliver it to their address.

This way, you don’t need to rent a shop, hire sales girl/boy etc. You can operate from home.

This can be applied to any product or service you render. Here at eBrand, we depend almost 100% on our website to get clients. So you too can do that.

Copywriting
If you are already a creative person who loves writing, copywriting is a very simple way to make money online in Nigeria.

The first option I recommend is for you to set up a website of your own and present yourself as a thought leader in the industry by proving that you have the ability to write copies that can help businesses create awareness and publicize their products or services.

Tip** Click here to discover platforms you can use to create a website by yourself or hire a competent web development team to design your website.

Alternatively, you can start out as a freelancer on platforms such as Freelancer, Upwork, Contentmart or Writeraccess.

Copywriters are among the highest income earners in the world of writing globally. However, it’s not for lazy minded people.

So if you are good at writing, you can give it a shot.

Affiliate Marketing
This is not a very popular way to make money online in Nigeria (especially if you are resident here).

However, it is fairly a simple strategy. All it takes is to direct people to the website of a seller of a particular product – such that when the person buys something from their website, you will be paid a commission like 5% to as high as 70%.

Only go for this strategy if you are already naturally good at facilitating transaction between buyers and sellers.

In Nigeria presently, there are no popular affiliate platforms like Clickbank, Avant link, ShareAsale etc. that will make your work of finding affiliate opportunities very easy.

So you have to search for individual companies (especially ecommerce companies) like Jumia, Konga, Dealdey etc. and sign up on their platform and become their affiliate.

After you have signed up, you need to drive traffic to the company’s website. And the good thing about affiliate marketing is that you can promote as many products/services as possible provided you know how to do it.

Tip** The best strategy for affiliate marketing in Nigeria is through niche blogging and social media promotion.

Online Tutorial
If you are good (I mean really good) in any field, you can start teaching people about it online.

Tutoring is yet another effective strategy you can use to make money online. And the good thing is that it has the capacity to bring in steady inflow of money to you.

To get started, You can register on one of the popular online tutor websites like Tutorme.com.

Project management Program, H.R.M, Digital marketing amongst others are online based programs which are really popular right now and tutors are in high demand.

Online tutoring is really booming worldwide because many working-class people find it more convenient due to time factor.

Selling Ads Spaces to companies
This is another lucrative way of making money through your website. But there is a catch!

Your website needs to have insanely massive amount of traffic (i.e. people visiting the website on daily basis) to attract high advert rates.

And to have a website with lots of traffic is something that takes time and consistency.

Another way to command high advert rate is if you are able to establish your website as an authority in your field. That way, you can convince companies that you have a targeted small audience they can advertise their products and services to.

E.g. If you have a website that attracts doctors and other health workers, you can easily convince pharmaceutical companies to advertise there.

What you charge for ads space depends on the quality of your website and the traffic it commands.

But take note, It’s not just as simple as it sounds.

Selling e-Books and other digital products
This is alternatively called information marketing.

Many smart young Nigerians are making millions of Naira monthly selling e-Books to people in need of specialized knowledge that is not easily accessible anywhere online.

To use this strategy to make money online in Nigeria, you have to find a particular niche that a lot of people are having challenge in. Some of the most popular ones these days are Health, sex, money, religion etc.

Have you seen adverts such as these online recently –

How to clear pimples and acne within 24 hours
How to slim down naturally in 3 days – No dieting, No drugs, No exercise
Secret strategies on how to last longer in bed (yeah, this one is really popular these days),
How to make money online while you sleep.
Those are information marketers doing what they know how to do best.

And the best part is that you don’t necessarily have to be an expert in the field to be an information marketer. You can hire someone to do the writing for you. Or you can do an in depth research that an average person would be too lazy to handle.

The most important thing is to know how to convince people to buy the information.

Like I mentioned before, you must be a good salesman/copywriter in real life before you can implement this strategy and succeed.

Conclusively, it is very easy to make money online in Nigeria. But first, you should be good at something offline, then you can transfer that skill online.

Webmasters / 3 Commonest Factors That Can Cause Your Website To Go Down by jchima14: 8:50am On Dec 08, 2017

There are several factors that can cause website downtime. These unfortunate incidences are usually unexpected and virtually every website owner goes through it from time to time.

It happens to even the best of websites. This is why no web hosting company claims to offer 100% uptime.

One thing is to know the existing threat; another is to know the cause and how to tackle it (click here to learn about what to do when your website goes down).

Website downtime is not always the website owner’s fault.

However, it is unfortunate that some people hire a web developer to design a beautiful and well optimized website, then they practically abandon it without any form of ongoing maintenance.

The result?

Multiple website downtime, bad online reputation, massive loss of sales and bad impression on the part of potential customers.

In order to avoid a situation such as these, it is important for you to know common factors that can cause website downtime.
Below are 3 commonest factors that can cause your website to go down unexpectedly. You should always beware of them.

Poor Maintenance:
Imagine driving a car for a year without maintenance – what do think will happen?

Now most web site owners behave like that.

They don’t usually consider quality maintenance as important until their website begins to malfunction because of old and outdated plugins and scripts.

It is very bad to leave your website uncared for. How do you think it will look when visitors arrive on your website to observe that many links on your website are broken and lead to 404 error pages.

Ongoing steady maintenance can help you discover when something is going wrong with the site. And this forewarning will provide you time to possibly fixed it before it gets worse.

For example, if you review your site’s health regularly, you will discover early if there is a comment spam attack or brute-force attack on your website and then you can stop it before it overloads your server and cause website downtime.

When website accumulates problems – even if the problems were little at the beginning; they can cause your website to shut down. So make sure your site is checked and maintain regularly.

Hackers:
If your website has a loophole in security, a hacker may find his way through into your website cpanel or server and implant a script that can overload your server and cause website downtime.

The easiest route hackers gain access these days is through free scripts, plugins and themes or templates posted in suspicious places online.

So don’t give them such opportunity to strike you because it might be too late before you get hold of your site again.

To Make sure your site is free from any vulnerability to hackers, avoid the use of simple password combination, constant use of one password, connecting to public wifi while working on your site, or even sharing your wifi with people.

(Learn how to secure your website from hackers even if you are a computer novice)

Just avoid anything that can give a hacker access to your website backend (i.e. if you use CMS), server or cPanel.

Cheap Hosting:
In simple terms, avoid $1 shared hosting.

Most times, this will cause frequent website downtime because of inadequate RAM and CPU.

Don’t fall for the hype about unlimited disk space and bandwidth. No hosting provider really provides that.

When you buy cheap shared hosting your website might go down even when it is no fault of yours. This is because when the website of another site on the same shared server as yours is affected (e.g. spam overload), your website will also malfunction as well.

And even if your website doesn’t go down completely, it will surely become unresponsive and load slowly. And you will leave potential customers visiting your website (maybe for the first time) with a really bad impression about your business.

In conclusion, having known the 3 commonest factors that can cause website downtime, it is very crucial you set up a quality monitoring software that can easily alert you when your website is down (or you can easily install pingdom on your website). This way you can take action the moment it happens.

And as a last note, always backup all your web files because your site might still go down even after you chosen the best hosting company, secured your site from hackers and hired a top-notch full service digital marketing agency to maintain your website.

Webmasters / Most Common Http Errors And Their Meaning by jchima14: 5:55pm On Dec 05, 2017
Often times you come across some disturbing http error messages that just pop up on the screen when you try to access some websites.

Most of these common http errors are not new to you.

But the question is; do you know why these error messages pop up on your screen?

Can you interpret them?

It is against this backdrop that this content is drafted to explain the meaning of the 5 most common http errors you will experience while browsing the internet.

1. HTTP ERROR 404 (NOT FOUND)
When you want to access a web page and you get a 404 error message, don’t fret. This one of the most common http errors you will encounter online. It is simply telling you that the web page doesn’t exist.

2. HTTP ERROR 503 (SERVICE UNAVAILABLE)
This http error can pop up when you are having network issue. So the 503 Service Unavailable message can just be a temporary issue.

3. HTTP ERROR 401 (UNAUTHORIZED)
The requested web page requires authentication – that is, a password and username. This http error occurs when you try to access an unauthorized web page – It usually occurs because of a failed login attempt.

4. HTTP ERROR 403 (FORBIDDEN)
When you encounter http error 403, it means that the server is practically rejecting you command. The server will not allow the visitor to access the requested file. This is likely the most common reason why http error 403 messages would display on your screen.

5. HTTP ERROR 502 (GATEWAY TIMEOUT)
The http error 502 message is a server to server communication problem. This issue usually occurs as a result of improper configured proxy servers. That is, the use of a different proxy to resolve the web server’s content, It becomes visible when the website’s Internet Service Provider (ISP) is overloaded or the malfunction of a firewall.

Business / Revealed! See 5 Best Places To Advertise On The Internet For Nigerian Businesses by jchima14: 3:05pm On Dec 04, 2017
Being that there are over 92 million Nigerians who use the internet daily, every business owner is scrambling for the best places to advertise on the internet.

And I’m sure you are too. If not, you will not be reading this article.

The efficiency of online advertisement is not something to argue about because online ads have proven to be one of the most effective ways of marketing at a very low cost compared to other advertisement strategies.

However, many business owners in Nigeria still find it difficult to to find ideal places to advertise on the internet.

In order to address this lack of such information on the part of business owners, here are the 5 best places to advertise on the internet to boost your business.

1. Text/Banner Ads on Other People’s Websites
This can be a daunting task if you decide to do it manually. Going to each webmaster one after the other will be nearly impossible.

But, surely there is way to have your website banner and text adverts appear in 100s of websites all over the internet. This is through the use of Google Display Network.

2. Advertise on Popular Blogs and websites
People always like reading interesting articles, entertainment, gossip etc on blogs. And the owners of these online platforms command a massive following or readership.

Below are a few blogs and forums with large following in Nigeria that are worth mentioning.

Nairaland – Gets 220 million pageviews monthly

Naijaloaded – Records 130 million pageviews monthly.

Tooxclusive and Linda Ikeji’s blog also get some serious millions of visitors daily. So you should consider them.

3. Online Newspapers
All Newspapers now have online presence, so you can read up news on their site. These newspapers have ads spaces like the hard copy, so all you need is request for a space. If you are on a tight budget, you can opt for their text adverts which appear at the bottom of every news article on the website.

4. Social Media
Social media platforms are some of best places to advertise on the internet. However the type of products and services you offer will determine the platform you will use.

However, advertising on social media, you must ensure that you choose the right platform to advertise on. E.g. if you offer a B2B (i.e. you sell to other businesses instead of individuals) product or service, a social platform like LinkedIn will be a better choice than Facebook or twitter.

5. Classified Ad Listing Sites and eCommerce Platforms
Online stores such as Jumia and Konga are good platforms to advertise your products. You simply become one of their partners and they will put up your products to be seen by thousands of people who use their website. And it is free.

Now over to you

What are the best places to advertise on the internet for Nigerian Businesses?

Webmasters / Exposed!see 5 Guaranteed Ways You Can Increase Sales Through Your Website By 53% by jchima14: 4:10pm On Nov 30, 2017
In today’s world, most businesses now have a website where customers may visit to get information about the business. These websites not only represent the company online but can be utilized to boost sales for a business. However, as a business owner without much tech knowledge, you may find it rather hard to increase sales through your website.

Here are the top 5 tested and trusted tips we used to increase sales by 53% through our website at E-Brand Managers:

1. Drive traffic to your website
This one is a no-brainer. Whether you’re trying to attract your first customer or retain existing ones; generating more traffic to your website is arguably the most vital step in increasing sales and expanding your business. Now how do you go about that?

advertise.
The power of advertisement must not be taken for granted. Display advertising and social media ads are all extremely effective rather inexpensive ways of improving brand recognition, attracting visitors and improving the visibility of your website.

Search engine optimization (SEO)
Search engine optimization is something every business owner should look into – or hire a competent SEO expert to handle.

2. Rich and interesting content
There is probably a lot of competition in your industry, and all these businesses own websites. It’s no longer about who has a website but about whose website is more user-friendly and more engaging.

3. Feature different promos and other benefits of buying from your company

4. Make it easy for people to contact you
What’s the need for visiting a website when there’s no contact information on the website. Its like giving out a business card with just your name and no contact details.

You must have at least your business address, email, and phone number. These are the basics. In addition to these, you can take it a step further like we did and install a live chat system to your website to talk to potential and exisiting customers in real time. This makes it easy for the website visitor to get in touch with you immediately (or later).

5. Build retention and remind customers of what you offer
Having more customers usually translate to sales, and the simplest method to increase your customer base is not to lose them. Most businesses focus on driving traffic to their website and neglect customer relations.

Send targeted follow-up emails to customers offering them a related product or service (you can do this automatically with a good email auto responder and shopping cart). Notifying them of deals is also great.

Finally

Use phone call tracking to track leads that result from users visiting your website. If you aren’t using phone call tracking, be sure that you or whoever answers your phones is always asking how the customer found your business. Combine all the data to determine where your money is best spent on getting leads, then increase that to make more sales.

Politics / Bribery Allegation: Ignore Pdp’s Call For Amaechi,onu’s Sack, It’s A Distraction by jchima14: 4:27pm On Nov 07, 2016

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described the bribery allegation against the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and his counterpart from Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonaya Onu as a distraction.

Recall that two Supreme Court Justices recently arrested by security agencies, Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and John Inyang Okoro had accused both Amaechi and Onu of attempting to bribe them at separate intervals.

Following the allegation the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sack both Ministers.

Reacting to the call, the Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, in a statement urged Buhari to disregard the call for Amaechi and Onu’s sack, stressing that it was frivolous and mischievous.

According to Ikanya, “The Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress, (APC), has taken notice of a press release by the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to ask the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu to step aside because some Justices accused and being investigated of corruption had curiously described their investigation as act of persecution by the Buhari administration for not favouring the All Progressives Congress, APC, in election matters arising from the 2015 general elections in some states.

“The call by the PDP flies in the face of reason, fairness, common sense and cause of justice. 1. It is a known fact that embattled Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and John Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court who are currently under DSS investigation for serious corruption charges only resorted to the cheap, convenient, everyday reaction of people caught red-handed committing crimes in order to divert attention away from the grave reality confronting them especially when faced with sufficient evidence.

“Indeed, it is even more disconcerting that PDP in the said call, refused to recognise the naked fact that by accusing the Ministers of attempting to induce them to pervert the course of justice, the accused Hon. Justices introduced unrelated allegations against innocent persons unconnected with the matter for which they are being investigated, something that many accused persons easily, conveniently and cheaply resort to when caged.

“The questions that quickly come to mind include: were the huge sums of money reportedly found in their homes given to them by the Ministers they are accusing? Do the petitions for which the Justices are being investigated have anything to do with Amaechi or Onu? Are Justices of the Supreme Court unaware that relevant laws of the land imposes on them the strict duty to properly and formally report inducement of any kind in a timely manner or risk prison term of not less than 2 years?

“We urge Mr. President and Nigerians to completely disregard PDP call for the sacking of Amaechi and Onu. Why should they be sacked? What crime did they commit for PDP to call for their sack? These fine gentlemen did nothing wrong. Mr. President should not and cannot act based on mere accusations from the Supreme Court Justices without any iota of proof or evidence to back their claims. And we should not forget that these Justices only started making these false accusations against Amaechi & Onu, after they were arrested by the DSS.

“PDP’s call is fraudulent, unnecessary, a distraction from the real problems of fighting corruption in the Judiciary. They should allow Mr. President fight corruption without their childish, partisan distractions. The President Buhari’s fight against corruption is about Nigeria and moving Nigeria forward.

“The PDP should rather be calling for the expulsion and sack of their governors and senate minority leader from the South-South region who has been involved in the pervasion of justice in governorship electoral matters by financially inducing the Supreme Court Justices under investigation.

“Yes, as a party, we re-affirm our belief that the PDP governors and Senate Minority Leader who perverted justice and then turned around to orchestrate wrongful and false accusations against the Transportation Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi through the Supreme Court Justices in order to cover their tracks, crime, distract attention and destroy Amaechi, are the ones that the PDP should expel from their party, banish from politics and call for their resignation or sacking.”

Governor Ayodele Fayose held a peace meeting with members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) on Thursday, November 3.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has held a peace meeting with members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

The Miyetti Allah at the meeting held in the government house, signed a peace pact with the government, promising to co-exist peacefully with the farmers and residents of the state, Vanguard reports.

The governor also released nine cows arrested for contravening the state’s anti-grazing law. The cows were seized a couple of weeks ago by the Ekiti State Grazing Enforcement Marshals for contravening anti-grazing law.

Fayose, at the peace meeting which was attended by south-west, traditional rulers and the Fulani community on Thursday, November 3, mandated that cattle breeders operating in Ekiti state register with the traditional rulers of their host communities.

The governor however noted that the free registration must be done within the next 14 days after which the registered names would be forwarded to the state government for data keeping.

He also warned that the 7am till 6pm grazing period stipulated in the law stands and that anyone who contravenes this will be dealt with.

Fayose said he released the cows to cement the relationship between the government, farmers and the Fulani herdsmen in the state.

Fayose said: “I have decided to release these cows to strengthen our union. So, I expect you to comply with the law because after now, ifyou contravene the law, we will take appropriate sanctions against you.”

The governor empowered the traditional rulers to enforce the grazing law in their domains and to apportion lands to herdsmen to do their businesses under a controlled situation.

There had been tension between the Ekiti state government and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), the umbrella body for herdsmen in Nigeria after Fayose restricted the activities of the herdsmen and arrested some of them for flouting the law Ekiti state anti-grazing law.

The MACBAN group had also criticised Fayose for inaugurating a vigilante group, Ekiti Grazing Enforcement Marshals (EGEM), popularly called ‘Anti-malu’, describing it as a threat to banish its members from Ekiti state.

But Fayose in turn accused the federal government of siding with the cattle breeders to attack the Ekiti people.
