I honestly don't mean any disrespect, but I disagree with you. I am Jamaican, and Jamaicans have one thing in common with Nigerians we live in church. Bob Marley was not a prophet! He just read the Bible, he was just sharing what he read in books like Revelation and Daniel. He may have believed he was a prophet though. Jamaicans are also very much into prophecy. Keep in mind that even though Rastas belong to a cult they read the Bible. They just don't have the same beliefs and understanding of the Bible as Christians. |
This information may be helpful to IT and Engineering professionals seeking jobs in the USA and Canada. Post your resume on the following job boards and consulting firms may be able to sponsor your visa. The job boards are Dice.com (they have a special section for engineers), Monster.com, Hotjobs.com, and Careerbuilders.com. when you get employed in the USA and Canada get a graduate degree so that if you get a green card you will have a Canadian or American college or university on your resume. I am a recruiter and I know there is a shortage of these skilled professionals in the US and Canadian job market. Indian companies are already providing theses services to fill the gap. This may work for nurses also , since there is a shortage of nurses. I don't recruit nurses though. I hope this is helpful to someone. God bless!! |

Try Jennifer Convertables, JCPenny's and Rooms to Go they have great prices. You can also look on line for furniture outlet stores in your area. All the major stores like Jennifer Convertables and Rooms to Go, Pottery Barn have outlet stores. Don't spend too much money because when you move the furniture won't work as well in a new place. For Oriental/area rugs, try Overstock.com, Tuesday Morning and Home Goods. Home Goods is also good for luxurious bedding, towels, framed artwork, fine china, glasses and Oriental rugs. JCPenny's have great prices on sofas and dining room sets and you Can shop on line. This is going to sound crazy, but Target has some nice accent chairs for as little as $89.00. You can check it out on line and purchase it in the store. When buying area rugs buy wool or wool with silk because even though synthetic rugs are cheaper they don't look good after you walk on them. God bless! |
Hi Christie, I am not a doctor but I have suffered with allergies for many years. Here are some changes you can make to your diet that will help: -eat a lot of leafy green vegetables -eat less sugar -less carbohydrates - drink alkaline water (water with fresh lemon juice) try to drink 8+ glasses daily -less coffee -more green tea -more chicken breast -less red meat -exercise more - increase your vitamin C intake Exercising more will help your body sweat out toxins. You will find that this diet will help you right away. It cured me of chronic sinusitis which I had for 2 years. I still use it to controll my allergies. You can research this diet on line it is called the alkaline diet. Also cover your pillow with a silk pillowcase that has a zipper and if you can get a silk filled pillow that would help greatly. Dust mites in your pillow and mattress are causing you to sneeze in the morning. Silk is suggested because dust mite don't like silk. A mattress cover will also help. Try to find out what you are allergic to and eliminate from your diet if it is food, if it is pollen or fabric. If you are allergic to pollen close your windows in the morning when pollen is a big problem and buy local raw (or unpasteurized)honey and use it in your tea every day. Having honey every day will help your body become immune to the local pollen. Make sure your are getting enough fiber in your diet to cleanse your intestines. I got this information from consulting several Allergists, Certified Nutritionists, and on line research. I use all of the above techniques and they work. You will find that your diet will not need to be strict for it to work well for you. I hope this works for you. God bless |
Let me add my 2cents. How about thinking globally when you are thinking of markets. Don't just limit youself to one country. For example Vonage, which is an internet phone company in the US will pay anyone to sign people up for their internet phone service. You don't have to live in the US to be able to market this product you just have to understand internet marketing. How about selling products to home sick Nigerians living in Europe, the Americas and Australia? |
Here is some information I thought may be helpful to someone looking to start or expand their business. www.dutchafrica-enterprisefair.com/ How to Succeed in Africa: Linking Dutch & African Business Trade and Investment FAIR - I came across this website and thought this website may be a good place to find business partnerships in Europe. Also take a look at this inspiring story about an Nigerian businessman in The Netherlands who is ruining an import export business of Nigerian products for the European market. //www.radionetherlands.nl/features/development/daef/060314cagl |
Catholics argue that praying to Mary and the saints is no different than asking someone here on earth to pray for you. Let us examine that claim. (1) The Apostle Paul asks other Christians to pray for him in Ephesians 6:19. Many Scriptures describe believers praying for one another. 2 Corinthians 1:11; Ephesians 1:16; Philippians 1:19; 2 Timothy 1:3). The Bible nowhere mentions anyone asking for someone in Heaven to pray for them. The Bible nowhere describes anyone in Heaven praying for anyone on earth. (2) The Bible gives absolutely no indication that Mary or the saints can hear our prayers. Mary and the saints are not omniscient. How could they possibly hear the prayers of millions of people? Whenever the Bible mentions praying to or speaking with the dead, it is in the context of activities the Bible strongly condemns (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). The one instance when a "saint" is spoken to, Samuel in 1 Samuel 28:7-19, Samuel was not exactly happy to be disturbed. It is plainly clear that praying to Mary or the saints is completely different from asking someone here on earth to pray for you. One has a strong Biblical basis, the other has no Biblical basis whatsoever. |
allonym, if tithing does not come straight out of the Bible which Bible are you reading? All of my Bibles even my Oxford edition (which has all the Catholic chapters in it) has over 30 verses that discuss tithing. |
Luke 11:42 2 "Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone. (NIV) Jesus said that it was not wrong to tithe the spices (which appear to be trifles to some) but that these teachers of the law and pharisees should also practice the other important matters OF THE LAW i.e. justice, mercy and faithfulness and the love of God. In the above context, Jesus implied that the pharisees were fastidious when it comes to tithing and other legal issues but they did not show the love of God in them. This, He defines as hypocrisy. Tithing to them is just an outward show of their self righteousness (see also Luke 18:12). Just as a reflection on this passage, if tithing was compulsory for the New Testament Christian,, wouldn't it be a a sin if he forgets to tithe the "spices and herbs" or "flowers" he receives (as a gift)? According to the New Testament scriptures we are not cursed for not giving a 10th percent as in the laws of the First Covenant. Our giving is giving from the heart to support the work of God. I like giving 10% because it requires me to trust God to meet my needs and it reminds me to keep God first in my life no matter what my circumstances look like. |
@Gigitte According to the Bible Jesus is our only intercessor in heaven. It is quite sad to see people believing false teachings. I hope you will read your Bible to learn for youself the true teachings of Jesus Christ. Read Mathew 6 and 7 to get the instruction from Jesus on how to pray. I hope you will find your way to the truth before it is too late. Yes Jesus is one with God the Father but he still prayed to God the Father while he lived on earth and he did not pray to his mother a dead priest nor a dead nun. Your Church does instruct people to pray to Mary and Saints. I have seen Priests giving this advice many times on the Church's TV stations here in the US. You know that this is true. Where in the Bible does it say ask Mary to intercede for you? Why all the statues and alters to Mary? Some of these alters have money and food on it like the Hindus. Why does your church advertise to get people to pray to dead nuns like Mother Theresa. I have seen billboard ads on the streets in NY promoting the idea of prayers to Mother Theresa. Your Church's response to this question is what you and Chrisd's repeat over and over and it does not seem to be a well thought out answer. I will take a break from this subject. I have said all I have to say for now. I have done what I am required to do based on the Bible. |
I know this is an old thread but let me add my 2 cents here. Benny Hinn has been given some very bad press in the US. I don't know how true the reports are. As always we are to read our Bibles and judge the teachings of all the ministers we listen to based on how their teachings match up with the Word of God the Bible. |
m4malik, May God bless you with encouragement through fellow Christians and his Word. Sorry it took me so long to respond. |
Gigitte Read the Bible for yourself and you will see that your Church is teaching doctrine that contradicts the the teachings of Christ and the entire Bible. |
Gigitte, One of the many examples of scripture being taken out of context to support doctrines that disagree with the the 10 Commandments and the teachings of Jesus, is praying to Mary and Saints. Remember that Jesus never prayed to anyone other than to his father in Heaven. You did not metion the Mormons nor the Jehovah's Witnesses, I used them as an example of cults who have rewritten the bible to support their beliefs but still call themselves Christians. These people still consider themselve Christians even though their teachings go against the the teachings of Jesus Christ. Remember Christian means follower of Christ. |
Chrisd, giving a tithe is a teaching that come straight out of the Bible. There are 34 verses in the Bible that teaches tithing. What is the problem with tithing. How will the Churches pay their bills? Will their bills be paid by miracles? How will they support missionaries etc.? |
Gigitte, if the Bible can be interpreted out of context any way you want to support doctrines that disagree with the 10 commandments and the teachings of Jesus, Gigitte, how do you feel about cults like the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses interpreting the Bible their way. Does it mean they are Christians too. Remember Christian means follower of Christ. Mormons believe Jesus is the brother of Satan and that God was a mere mortal who worked his way up to Deity. they also believe Joseph Smith was the final prophet a teacher superior to Jesus. Does their interpretation qualify them as followers of Christ (Christians)? The Jehovah's Witlessness also have their Watchtower inspired interpretation of the Bible are they followers of Christ (Christians) too? How loose should this meaning follower of Christs (Christian) be. Can you take the Bible verses out of context and teach anything you want and still be a Christian. How can you say you are a follower of Jesus without folowing him? That means I can start a cult where everyone prays to me and have sighting of me all over the world. My followers will have alters set up with my statue etc. Will we still be Christians, even though my teaching contradict the Bible? How can we be considered followers of Christ when we go against the teachings of Christ? |
@ocelot, Amen! I agree with you. |
Balogun, It si sad to hear about the death of your nephew. My condolences to you and your family. May he rest in peace. Amen |
Nairaland is my only opportunity to see the world through Nigerian eyes. As a Jamaican-American this is a great opportunity to broaden my world view. Since you have so many Christians I think Nairaland is a great place to be. I believe Seun and the forum members are great ambassadors for Nigeria and Africa. I am praying for God's favor for Nigeria just as I pray for Jamaica,Israel and the US. |
Txlonghorn, Thanks for fighting for our country and for the Iraqi people! I will be the first to admit that i am too selfish and i am not a soldier. Thank God he gave you what you need to be brave enough to fight for us. You and your colleagues are in my prayers. |
Do you guys want to end up like Beirut? Don't follow their "eye for an eye" method of solving problems. Look what it has done to the Middle East. Depend on the soldiers to do their jobs so that you don't end up in a civil war. |
Father in heaven we are all praying to you for peace and prosperity for Nigeria In Jesus Name . Amen. |
@cushman, If Muslims believe Jesus is a Prophet how come they don't follow is teachings of peace, forgiveness and love? |
You see, as fellow believers in Christ, we have great access to the Lord God personally, and we can enter into His grand presence because of the great blood of Christ which was shed on the cross. Eph 2:17-19 When Christ came, He proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God's household. Are you a fellow believer in Christ? Then you too are a member of God’s household, and have access to the Father. Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time. Hebrews 10:19-20 Therefore, brothers, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that He has inaugurated for us, through the curtain (that is, His flesh); Ephesians 3:11-12 This is according to the purpose of the ages, which He made in the Messiah, Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness, access, and confidence through faith in Him. John 14:6 Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Romans 5:2 Also through Him, we have obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Let us rejoice together that the Lord God hears our prayers and answers them! 1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence we have before Him: whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for. |
Balogun , Sorry to hear about your nephew's accident. I hope he will recover quickly. |
allonym, One day God will open Chrisd's eyes and soften his heart to the one and only true Gospel of Jesus Christ ( as it is written in the Bible). It is great that you have planted a seed of faith with him, God will water it. God knows how to save people. Look what he did with Saul who became Paul. The Bible so clearly disagrees with Chrisd's beliefs. I hope he will understand the Bible before it is too late. He cannot see that the church that he is so sold out won't be able to save him when it is too late. All that man made doctrine that conflict with scripture, can not save anyone. You will notice that the Pope recently announced that purgatory is no longer a doctrine they will promote. Thanks for not being afraid to share the love of Christ!! So many people are compromising the gospel to be politically correct and spare people's feelings. |
