Eradspiff: eh!!! gbese, how many patients have u killed lol haba na. what's so special about working in a hospital lab sef. Btw most doctors have an idea of lab results before they arrive. Patients hardly get killed from wrong lab results infact doctors see outrageous lab results all the time. Sometimes u wonder how some of this peeps managed to grad. very importantly, clinical findings supperseed lab results. That why most patients survive . so mls and slt even do basic med sciences? This is good. we just need to read more, understand and incorporate instead of just craming and poring and forgetting. but what's with the argument sef? who doesn't know that medical is a branch of science? |

mekadmiry: There are almost 100 causes of Anaemia If the Prof doesn't have access to buhari to do some lab tests & treat him, then whatever he's saying here is guess work. And moreover, why should a Prof of Medicine be disclosing or trying to disclose buhari's diagnosis on social media ? Is that what we were taught ? Is he buhari's personal doctor ? Is he part of the medical team treating him in London? Well boss seems I'm the only one that read the profs post wella. Prof was inferring possibly from pmb s statement that he was transfused. It's deductive reasoning. Maybe a journalist asked him a question and you know physicians, says a surgeon, and stuff moving. |

divinelove: Chai med/surg stds u need to see them as students they feel they r next to God. But most after practising for 20 yrs still live in rented apartments.
Anyway let's follow our passion no profession is better than the other we need everyone on board the shoe maker abo.ki is as important as a medical doctor.
Whatever u do make sure u make enough money for u and ur family to live a good life, money answers everything in life
I have nt consulted a doctor in nearly a decade, not when i kw almost all the drugs for malaria and typhoid I only see my lab man and pharmacy shop when needed Me don't even see the lab man or pharmacist. I just modify my diet and take enough bedrest. Can't really remember when last I took a drug. But you see, you can't really do without a doctor because the earlier a client present with a problem the greater the likelihood of curability. Later presentation myt leave management and making the clients life more bearable as the only option, because eventually a client must present. I mean doctors don't give life. They only preserve the one you have. And you have only one life. BEWARE OF SELFMEDICATION Says pmb. He is wiser now. |

GogetterMD: No wonder Bubu had to travel abroad for treatment. I'm ashamed this man calls himself a professor of internal medicine. Anaemia is seldom a diagnosis on its own, and is usually secondary to something. Even a medical student can make that mumu inference of his that he's suffering from anaemia since he had blood transfusion Haba chief, take it easy now. Babas problem is anaemia, but the question is from what? It could be cancer as evidenced by muscle wastage or drug related based on the president warning against self medication. Self medication can cause kidney failure, gi bleeding, liver failure etc, all of which can cause anaemia. So what is ur problem afterall. The mention of the word diagnosis? U r not even a prof. And btw Don't wash ur dirty linen in public.....very important as a Dr. |

Donpre: Thanks a lot oga jefdr001 and boss jargo for the explanations. Although, I still got questions, I think I have gotten what I came for.
Lemme just drop this one(kinda two); Oga jefdr mentioned some drugs that are never metabolised by the liver.
1. What situation would warrant such drugs
2 If someone with cirrhosis were to be such situation, what would be the alternative
I hope I'm not asking too much Nah u my bro. I think jargo89 has helped to explain some of my highly summarised points to your earlier question. As for your recent question just know that cirrhosis is a contraindication for the use of drugs that are mainly metabolised by the liver or an indication for a reduction in doses if such drugs have no alternative. Also remember that the kidneys play a role in drug metabolism and some drugs can be excreted as absorbed without being significantly altered. Drug effect also wanes with redistribution. Pls some drugs are never significantly metabolised by the liver, ko. Significantly. |

Donpre: Good morn ogas, and ogas to be in the house.
I just recovered from an intense malaria episode, and this morning, my brain resumed duty. I was wondering, since the chunk of drugs I took would passed through my stomach to my small intestine, then to my liver, and the liver is charged with detoxification of substances such as drugs, alcohol etc. Wouldn't it be assumed that the drugs would be neutralized before it enters the blood stream
or would it pass through the lymphatic system, as that's the only way to bypass the liver and get directly to the heart? Some drugs form active metabolites (prodrugs), others are absorbed in doses that even after undergoing first pass effect there's still enough quantity to be used by the body, even some drugs are never metabolised by the liver, and some drugs are delivered directly into the blood stream (iv). Drugs can also be used topically. |

Here in my school there are 3 categories of results : fail, pass, and distinction. Yes it's possible to have distinctions in anatomy, bch, physio, pathology, pharmacology, ong, paediatric, medicine, surgery, and com med. Tho some dpts can never give you distinction in this shit hole no matter how good you may be, but let's know that it's possible.. I dove hat for this chief if his med college is anything like mine. |
