ELff: It happened in my area 2 months ago, our transformer packed up. We waited for 3 weeks without power and after back and forth with the area office, we got frustrated and finally wrote the AEDC area manager, copied the General manager and copied Nigerian Electricity regulatory commission. Within 10 days they brought a brand new transformer for the area and we did not pay a dime. I suggest you write the area manager of your distribution company and copy NERC, you will get your transformer with immediate alacrity! Its the duty of disco to provide transformer, meter and all materials necessary to ensure you have power supply in your homes. So far as your area pay bills, you deserve to have light and they have to pay for the transformer! Don't contribute any money! Write them and write NERC. If you guys decide to buy the transformer, then you will calculate the cost of the transformer and disco is forbidden by law from serving you any bill until you have consumed an equivalent of what you spent in the purchase of the transformer. I.E if you monthly bill is 10k prior to the transformer having issues, you must consume 5 months light without charge in lieu of your contributions for the 50k used in buying the new transformer. Also try and get the contacts of the NERC forum office in your state and lay a complain if any disco tries to cheat or misbehave with you. As a customer you have rights protected by law and the NERC enforces it. 3 Likes |

A member of the Board of Trustees of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Olisaemeka Akamukalem has drowned in a flood in Abuja. Akamukalem, who hailed from Delta state died on Tuesday in Gwarimpa, Abuja after a torrential rainfall swept away his car. He was aged 57. His remains had been recovered and deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital morgue. The APC expressed shock over Akamukalem’s death, describing him as one of its respected leaders. The party in a statement on Thursday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, recalled that the late Akamukali was the former National Chairman of the Democratic Peoples Party that merged with others to form the APC in 2013. He had also served as the first Assistant National Secretary of the All Peoples Party. The statement said, “He was the Director-General of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Campaign for President and thereafter served as member of the APC Presidential Campaign Committee that worked for the successful election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. “The late party chieftain who served the APC as first interim National Auditor was one the stabilizing forces in the party and always identified with progressive causes to strengthen the Party and ensure unity among members.” The part said the deceased left at a critical time when he was needed to contribute to nation building and the implementation of the APC Change Agenda. http://punchng.com/apc-bot-member-drowns-in-gwarimpa-flood/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |

Also the complainant can institute a civil case against the convict and not only get his money back but also claim damages and will be awarded cost against the convict. In total, the guy will not pay the money, he will pay the money plus cost before he leaves prison! |

Jaideyone:Remember Justice ademola grand father was ounce a chief justice of Nigeria, his father was also a justice of the appeal court. Ademola tendered evidence in court to show that the funds in his accounts was his share of the proceeds of the sale of thier family estates both in Nigeria and abroad. Does the law of Nigeria forbids a judge from collecting inheritance from his family assets? We don't know whether that is true or not but it was a duty that should have been done by the investigation authorities before going to court. The government rushing to CCT to charge ademola for failure to declare assets points likely that the facts presented by ademola might be true! So in all honesty , this government have failed in its so called war on corruption because it looks like both the investigative and prosecution authorities are grossly incompetent. |
Politics / Re: Justice Ademola’s Acquittal: Presidency Frowns As FG Appeals Judgment by jeffmyson(m): 9:44am On Apr 07, 2017 |
Jaideyone: What evidence was presented? The prosecutors failed to proof any if it case against ademola. The prosecution case was filled with "hear say", innuendos, outright double speak and conjectures. They failed to connect the sums being bandied around with ademola or any acts of corruption! Remember the law says HE WHO ALLEGES MUST PROOF. It was the duty of the prosecution to proof it allegations against Ademola which in this case is lacking. Corruption cases are not won on the pages of newspapers or through breaking down doors at wee hours! You have to go to court and proof your case. The burden of proof in criminal cases are high and it behoves on the government to do proper investigation, prepare it witnesses and tender evidence before the court. Its a shame that Ademola was not even allowed to enter a defence in this case because the government failed to even establish that a crime was even committed by him. In the end, the tax payers might have to pay for government incompetence because Ademola might sue the government for malicious prosecution and defamation and might end up with a hefty sum as compensation! 3 Likes |

Lusola15:Not only is he a judge of a federal high court, justice ademola comes from a family of Jurists, his grand father was ounce a chief Justice of Nigeria, his own father was ounce a justice of the court of Appeal and he himself is a justice too. The federal government made a grave mistake of taking such a man to court without any strong evidence. I have gone through the government submissions in court and what I found out that was presented were evidence based on "hear say", conjectures, and outright double speak. I suggest the government should forget this case and stop embarrassing themselves in court. This government has lost four corruption case in 96 hrs (Orubebe, patience, ademola, ozekhome) due to investigative and prosecutorial incompetence! 51 Likes 2 Shares |

Business / CBN Forex Policy: Customs Loses N138.9bn In 5 Months by jeffmyson(m): 11:46am On Jun 25, 2016 |
By Joseph Erunke CONTROLLER General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali, retd, yesterday, said Nigeria lost a total of 138.9 billion, representing 35.5% in income generation expected from the agency between January and May, 2016. The development came as the Senate Committee on Finance directed all the revenue generating agencies in the country to henceforth prepare and submit reports of their performances on quarterly basis to the committee for assessment. But he said the agency generated the sum total of N312. 9bn for the country within the period under review. The amount generated, according to him, was from the Valued Added Tax, VAT and the Negotiable Duty Credit Certificate, NDCC. Ali, who spoke while briefing the Senator John Enoh-led Senate Committee on Finance, on the performance of his organization, also disclosed that within the period, the Nigeria Customs Service lost a total of N138.9bn out of the N390.6bn it was expected to generate within the period. He further disclosed that the agency was able to generate the sum of N251.8bn out of which the sum of N211.124,434,386.60 was generated for the federation Account with the sum of N40,591,872,059.41 generated for Non federation Account. Giving breakdown of revenue generation within the period, the Customs boss said “compared to last year or what we are expected to generate, we are in deficit of 18,406,949,135.55 as against the sum of NN78,110,936,416.67 expected to be generated in the month of January.” For the month of February, the customs, according to Ali, lost N27,176,737,878.21 instead of N78,110,936.416.67 just as the sum of N28,910,737,844.24 could not be realized from N78,110,936,416.67 expected in the month. The agency equally lost the sum of N32,304,439,625.98 from N78,110,936,416.67 in April just as it lost N32,039,511,153.56 from the expected generation of the sum of N78,110,936,416.67 in the month of May. “With this, it means we have 35% less than what we are supposed to have generated, “he said. He attributed the loss to three variables among which according to him, included the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN’s new forex policy and increase in volume of credit. “The CBN forex policy has become a big problem to trade, therefore people are not importing and we are a nation that is dependent on importation. If people do not import, there will be no duty paid and Customs we has nothing to collect. “With this trend, there is no way we can, by any chance, meet the target set to us. We are hoping and praying that with the release of the budget and with the now relaxed forex market, we hope that traders will begin to pick up and import things. If things do not improve, certainly, we are in big problem, “he said" www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/cbn-forex-policy-customs-loses-n138-9bn-5-months/ |
Politics / PDP Asks APC To Apologise To Jonathan, Nigerians For Lies, Propaganda by jeffmyson(m): 2:34pm On Jun 18, 2016 |
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on its twitter handle (@PdpNigeria) has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) must apologise to former President Goodluck Jonathan for the lies they told against him. The PDP on Saturday in a series of tweets also demanded that APC should apologise to Nigerians for lies and propaganda they dished out during the the 2015 election campaign. These came as it also accused the APC of not fighting corruption but rather ‘sharing dollars in Central Bank of Nigeria and doing illegal forex deals’. Moreso the PDP tweeted that the APC government has successfully done nothing in 1year and that they have shut down the economy, ruin businesses, drive away investors, and then give excuses. The PDP further tweeted that the APC is giving job opportunities to the party’s cronies as it decried the APC-led government of President Buhari’s silence on the killing of 18 women during a funeral service in Adamawa by Boko Haram insurgents. Some of the tweet reads thus: “Although Lai Mohammed has openly admitted to talking too much during the campaign, they must also apologize for the lies they told against GEJ. “The APC and its members should become sober and apologize to Nigerians for all the lies and propaganda they dished out during the campaign. PDP Nigeria @PdpNigeria 2h2 hours ago FYI: Boko Haram Slaughtered 18 women during a funeral service in Adamawa, the government is yet to acknowledge or issue a statement on it. “They said they are fighting corruption, has the employment offer given to their children to NNPC, CBN, PTDF, FIRS, HOS been terminated? “They tell you they are fighting corruption but they are sharing dollars in Central Bank of Nigeria & doing illegal forex deals. “They tell you they are fighting corruption, they give their children CBN, NNPC, PTDF, FIRS, HOS jobs while you defend them here for crumbs. FYI: the 350 people illegally recruited into Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) are all children of president Buhari’s friends in APC. “All the government has successfully done in 1year is to shut down the economy, ruin businesses, drive away investors, then give excuses. “It is important to remind Nigerians that this Government has not awarded a N10m contract since its inception 1year ago except, helipad in Daura. “When president Jonathan started the Abuja-Kaduna Fast Rail in 2011, @APCNigeria and its members said it was a colonial LOCOMOTIVE. “Is it not ironic that ‘Buhari’ who cancelled Lagos Rail Project initiated by Jakande 3 decades ago will now commission Abuja-KD Fast Rail.” Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/pdp-asks-apc-to-apologise-to-jonathan-nigerians-for-lies-propaganda/ 3 Likes 2 Shares |
