By Johnbosco Agbakwuru ABUJA—In the spirit of reconciliation in the House of Representatives, the camp supporting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has announced conceding the position of the House Leader to the camp supporting Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. Dogara and Gbajabiamila But the speaker’s camp also made it clear that the nominee for the House Leader position will neither come from the South-West nor the North-East in the spirit of equity and federal character, noting that the two zones have already occupied their slots. Addressing journalists in Abuja, yesterday, spokesman of the Dogara group Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, said after the reconciliatory meeting as directed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, which was headed by the immediate former speaker and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, the Dogara camp decided to concede to Gbajabiamila camp the position of House Leader. He said that if the camp turned down the offer, the only option would be to conduct election on the floor of the House by the APC members in accordance with the provisions of the House Rules. He further said that his camp did not recognise the letter from the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, which he said did not pass through the National Executive Committee of the party and the House caucus or the recognised legal process. He said while ceding the position of leader to the Gbajabiamila camp, it was made clear that sharing the six principal officers of the House must be in tandem with the constitution as regards the federal character, adding that it will be unfair to exclude any geopolitical zone in sharing positions. He said: “The Governor of Sokoto State met with Femi Gbajabiamila and his group. Yesterday, he met with us and we also had a lengthy meeting, at some point heated. We wish to appreciate Mr. Speaker for tolerating all our actions at the meeting to be able to stand firm. “Concessions were made completely against the original plan that we went to the meeting with. This morning, we received lots of phone calls, under normal circumstances we are not supposed to make a public statement on this. “Because of the information going round and in order to put the record straight, I have been mandated as the spokesman of the group to make some few comments. “As regards some of the things that transpired at the meeting, of course the details would be made public when the entire process is concluded. “We went to the meeting and you have always known our position. We believe that we did not go against any provisions of the laws of the party or the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in electing the speaker or his deputy. “We also believe that there should be a level playing ground for everyone in terms of the occupation of the remaining offices of principal officers that has always been our position. “But after a very lengthy meeting with His Execelleny, the immediate past speaker and Governor of Sokoto State, we were able to make a far-reaching concession and this is to allow for peace to reign in the House. “It was very tough and of course the wise counsel of the Governor of Sokoto State on the need for a concession on peace. Three things we agreed: one, we maintain the position that we do not recognise the letter written by the party in quotes and I give you reasons. “We have utmost respect for the chairman of the party, but that letter did not pass through the relevant organs of the party. “It was neither approved by the National Working Committee nor the National Executive Council, not even the caucus was consulted and it was a product of one or two governors and of course the National Chairman.” “Let me maintain the fact that we respect the national chairman and we will only respect a letter through legal organs of the party. Our position is that we do not recognise the existence of such letter.” Continuing he said, “Secondly, the principal officers of the House must be in tandem with principle of equity and Federal Character as prescribed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “The 6th position that is usually occupied by the majority, the Speaker, deputy speaker, House leader deputy house leader, the whip and deputy whip must go to the six geopolitical zones or otherwise it must reflect the principal of equity and fairness. “To that end after the deliberation, we have agreed to concede the position of the House leader to the Femi’s group and we took this decision bearing in mind that we need peace in this house and we want to get down to work. “In line with with equity and federal character, whoever is being nominated must not come from the Southwest and Northeast in line with our strong belief in the principle of equity and federal character,” he stated.” The Kono State born lawmaker said the year had gone half way already and that they should be busy with the review of 2015 budget and on how far budget had been implemented. Besides, he said that in few weeks, the House would be considering the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF! Stressing that the House has work to do and cannot continue to waste more time talking about positions. According to him, “We expect the Femi group to accept this concession so that we can be able to move forward. “In the event that they do not accept, we also provided that it should be left for us to choose principal officers of the House in line with the standing rules of the House, so we have to come back and hold an election. “The entire APC members would hold an election to elect the house leaders, If someone says he has 174 members, fine let’s hold an election and see if he actually has that majority he claims. “Let’s hold election in line of the standing rules of the House and that is our position.” He said that the issue of the letter from the National Chairman where some members loyal to the party were nominated as the principal officers will not be read as there was a court case instituted by some member for the letter not to be read. He also disclosed that the North Central and the Southeast caucuses of the APC in the House have gone to court mandating the hOuse to respect the House rules as it concerned sharing of principal officers positions. He, however, said that Rep. Gbajabiamila had contributed a lot in the House and advised him to put national interest above personal interest. Culled fron : vanguard news: |
sunylee1:Perfect! I think your suggestions is in order! I have always like the spirit of oneness we show on this thread but my biggest disappointment is when some people get paid and they just disappear until the next money cycle is in the offing! Another distressing fact is that some awardees don't like to network with each other. Its very for awardees to create whatsapp groups for their respective states and zones and network with each other, share ideas And pass informations across. For the North east we h ave states and zonal whatsapp group and it has been very helpful, I even invited some people here crying for their tranche to join but they refused ( claiming big boy). We do thing together on the group and most of us have already collected our second tranche. I have had to take the pain and call an awardee we have not heard from today and asked him what was the problem and he narrated to me that he has not even triggered for second tranche because he does not know the procedures to do so. I had to explain it to him over the phone! Can you imagine! Someone is even yet to trigger and he does not even network with other awardees to have infos and latest gist! Well I don't blame him...the guy is into cattle rearing and maybe his business took him into the bush! Lol |
Depending on your arrangements with him ! Do you just buy and send to him or you participate in the marketing too? Livestock business is challenging but in the end we have to just make do with what we can get. |
wingopride:Yes! We in the first batch for North East have been paid our second batch!. Mail the Youwin secretariat for your status! |
sparashi16:Taraba Sir, Natures Gift to the nation. |
Godwin ! I have gotten my alert and so have many in the north east! Thanks to Youwin and FG |
Mohammed83:Is this worth the stress! Lol!!!
|
Mohammed83:Why is the case of North East different upon all the wahala we are facing here! We are even supposed to be the first to be paid for all the efforts we are making here in the face of difficulties! God please deliver us!!!
|
sparashi16:We here in the North East are just Observing ..... we have not being paid! Our businesses needs second tranche! We are begging Youwin to pay north East just as they have paid 5 other zones! Why is our case different?
|
The guy should understand that he who is putting his capital is taking a bigger risk! From what he has posted he is not taking any risk and wants a share of future profits when he is bringing nothing to the party. Agreed that he is bringing idea but in real business idea is worth nothing without capital! I am usually sceptical of get rich quick schemes like these and nairalanders should caveat! The capital is ratively small and I believe ifthe dividend is as the OP has posted he wwon't come online to find investors, he would have probably sold his fathers land to do the business himself and maybe introduce it to his village people only. |
Don't waste your time and money exporting Nigerian honey! It will surely be rejected abroad. The biggest safety issues with our honey is that it is harvested with smokes and unsanitary! If passed throughh ttesting there will surely be salmonella and other food safety concerns. The smoke in it makes it unsuitable for exports. Be warned! |
Luxuria:Yes we have complained severally and they keep saying " we are working on it, you will be paid soon". So we are watching and praying as events unfolds!! |
okoji:I have not gotten mine and Youwin told me I am in the first batch. In fact no awardee has been paid in the whole of the North East ( Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Borno). I don't know what offence we committed for Youwin and Zenith Bank to treat us this way! |
Denn:North East never see Godwin ooh!! Not a single person from the 6 North East state have gotten any dime! Let's pray we get it today! |
North East Youwin awardee we need to write individually to the Youwin Secretariat starting from today so that they will be aware we have not being paid! All the other zones have achieved either partial or full payments except North east that have not received any dime! Let's make this a collective effort so that Youwin and Zenith Bank will credit us like others! |
strigger:Nope! We have not been paid! We are still expecting ! |
Now that Youwin has paid second tranche it is imperative and very important that every awardee have a functional website for their business and try as much as possible to use electronic platforms to market their products and services. See you all at the top. |
North East awardee you need to start mailing the Youwin Secretariate ! We are not part of the 1007 paid awardee so that they will take note! Instead of us to use this long holiday weekend to plan our business expansion we are here talking about payments! 5 Zones paid and North East not included......Zenith Bank why? Youwin Why? |
Bigboyz32:The call was yesterday ? If so that means there is hope. |
Luxuria:I am already worried! Why should the case of north east be always different? I am told Zenith Bank is the source of the problem! |
Does anyone know why zenith has not paid north east ? And when we might get any alert if possible? |
Mohammed83:Where is the alert? Who did zenith pay today? Did zenith pay any awardee in north east today? Not a single dime was paid by zenith bank to anybody! If you have any evidence to the contrary you can let us know! Yet again we are in the bottom pecking order! ZENITH BANK HAS NOT PAID! |
Does anyone know why Zenith Bank has not started paying ? This whole thing is becoming annoying! |
The Youwin phones line never goes...even when it does ring! NOBODY picks up! |
globaldream:please modify your mail. North East have not been paid a dime. our bank is Zenith Bank and No awardee from North East have been paid any money. |
hmbs:I am not doubting it..what I am saying is that unless Youwin are party to this arrangement there is no way this can stand in the way. It is Youwin that have the final say and we should direct our grievances towards them as well as the banks too. Let's act fast today and report progress on this forum because after today we don enter LONG THING! |
hmbs:If indeed this is true! This is corruption and it the banks who practise this must be exposed so that the central bank can look into this practice. How can Youwin give directives and the banks will disobey or withhold the funds ? When our businesses are on standstill with rent piling up and equipments dormant. I suggest we also continue to call the Youwin secretariat and follow up with the banks.he who pays the Piper dictates the tune! End of story!!! |
Slowchuks:My brother wet in I go do naaa. Since the money is now trekking, I have no option than to wait or forget it. However the pain of waiting is now unbearable since vendors must be paid salaries must be settled. Let's see if we get it today! |
libertyinc1:At this time nobody is sure of anything again! By close of business tomorrow if we are not paid I will just forget about this Youwin and focus on something else. This drama is already unbearable. Why pay some people and leave out others even when they have all being processed the same time. Something is not right! |
hmbs:I called but same response " you will be paid when processing is done ". |
