If NDDC is serious with this scholarship, they ought to send invite this week for CBT and interview. September is just three weeks away.

I sent you PM

Hope for the best. Our bosses in the house might have a better solution.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by jelmusboy(m): 7:30pm On Aug 12, 2018
It is a PhD program and Fall only
tizentos:

Worst case, they would ask you to reschedule using your MRV number, no extra payment. Unless you're resuming school this fall, you might need to defer to spring.

Hun, I pray so
tizentos:

It's Sunday, you should be fine. They would probably print the list of interviewees tomorrow.

My interview is on Tuesday and I submitted my DS-160 this morning. What can I do now?

tizentos:

I was suppose to have my visa interview last month but was turned back due to the above. I wasn't aware about GTB receipt because I paid via internet banking. For the DS-160, I also added some info few hours less than 72hours to my interview . As such I was asked to book another appointment with my MRV number which I went for on Friday(Aug 10th). You should get the receipt easily if you pay directly to the cashier in any GTB branch.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by jelmusboy(m): 7:53am On Aug 12, 2018
Why the bold?

tizentos:
Visa transcript, Aug 10 2018, 7am slot(Lagos).
Approved, no document asked. Everything happened so fast, the conversation lasted for around 4min in addition to the VO spent typing. its just God all along.

I got to the venue around 6.55am, I hastingly joined the queue, did the usual clearance( Please come with your GTB receipt and make sure you did not alter your DS-160 less than 72 hours to your interview date). After clearance, we were directed to the main building, we went through series of checks, they took our biometrics, then I joined the queue of people to be interviewed. The CGI guy then directed me to window 2, the VO is a guy probably in his late 20s or early 30s. The guy and lady that was interviewed before me were denied. Then my turn,

VO: Good morning , how are you?
Me: Morning, am fine and you (no response)
VO: Pass your passport and i20
Me : Passed. (VO types for like a minute)
VO: Where are you going to?
Me:. I’m going to the University of Texas at Austin for my masters in electrical and computer engineering with specialization in integrated circuit and systems.
VO: (makes a funny face) masters? (Doctorate was actually indicated on my i20)
Me: Yes, but it’s PhD bound which means I would be automatically enrolled in their PhD program after my masters.
VO: Okay (smiles). So what’s your research interest and why?
Me: The graduate program of the electrical and computer engineering is divided into 9 different academic tracks, so I would be specializing in integrated circuit and systems (paused, no response from him). Actually people don’t really talk about it. (VO cuts in)
VO: Really, people don’t talk about it?
Me: Yes, compared to software development, AI and ML( VO nods his head). But the thing is, as we produce more software and improve on its capability to run more complex algorithms, we need to produce more hardware and scale it up to execute those tasks. With my experience in embedded systems and software development, I believe it’s the next thing for me to study.
VO: Okay, What’s your research interest he insisted.
Me: Am a masters students, I don’t really have a research interest. (VO still insisted) . Okay, I’m interested in embedded system.
VO: what’s embedded system(he gave a wicked look)
Me: Hmmm(Had a lot definitions, I just went blank for 2s). Well, we see embedded systems around from our smartphones, consumer electronics. For example, these devices have programmable chips in them that can be programmed to perform different task.
VO: (not satisfied, he points under his table). What processor does this computer use, is it an embedded system?
Me: Yeah kind of, it actually uses a microprocessor which are programmed from the factory. Unlike the ones we use for real embedded system project which are programmable. (VO smiles)
VO: Who’s your sponsor.
Me: I actually got a student loan from prodigy finance that covers tuition and living expenses. Also, my cousin will be supporting me with $4k ( I was about bringing out supporting docs thinking he would request for it).
VO: Are you married?
Me: No am single.
VO: Do you have kids?
Me: I said am single, so no kids. (I was like , o boy, no home ties, bad omen)
VO types for like 15 seconds. Then he circles an address on a white paper and said, You will have to pick up your visa at this address, you will receive an email or SMS. He passes my docs and white paper.
Me: Wanted to ask a question, before I came back do my senses, o boy your visa has been approved. Pick race.

Here is my verdict, just be yourself, and be natural. Don’t just be articulate, I saw people that were very articulate but I could detect that their response isn't convincing enough. Let your response make sense. What I mean by that is, let your story add up, we all have a unique story about ourselves, use it to your advantage to answering these personal questions such as why you want to study the course, how you got to know about it and your plan after graduate school. Be sincere in your response as well. In all, God’s grace is paramount and shouldn’t be underestimated.

I really appreciate those that took time to drop their transcripts, it really helped a lot. Thanks to the big guys that always make sure we don't get misinformed. God bless you all.

I will be asked to write my employer details, supervisor's name and phone number etc and I'm not employed under anyone. Just giving me headache on what to write under that column.

Glocal1:
Just employed and not self - employed.
This is to show that you have been able to save appreciably for your future studies.
That is in addition to what your sponsor offers.

You are surely employed.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by jelmusboy(m): 6:24pm On Aug 10, 2018
Should it come under "employment" category or I should choose "unemployed" and explain in the box given?

Glocal1:
State all that you do :research +teaching +all other side jobs. Also, sum up the income and state it as your cumulative income.
Don't sell yourself cheap.

Alright but how will that fit into employment cos I will have to state my employer, address, supervisor name and salary paid?

LagosismyHome:

if you are doing above then you can put that ........ employment can be paid , unpaid , voluntary

Need your help guys.

I'm currently unemployed but I have some side hustle I do such as organizing tutorial for students and carrying out some research for publication.

On my DS-160, what is the best option to choose between UNEMPLOYED and the rest of the options (Research, student, education, others etc)? I have booked my appointment for next week but I haven't submitted my DS-160 because of this to avoid misrepresentation.

I want to submit today and I need help on this.

He was denied F1 5 times and not F2. F2 is the best shot
imperiouxx:

Do you read where he said he was previously denied 5 times and that his wife brought pregnancy to US as a student?

@naijatisumi,

If I were you, I would direct this question to NIV on nairaland before continue with the F2 application. Also, what do you mean by this 'she apply for medical which was granted as same was backed with insurance and all'?
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by jelmusboy(m): 12:33pm On Aug 09, 2018
I think F2 will be your sure bet instead of F1. VO are not smiling with F1 now

naijatisumi:
Dear All please i need a little clarification about my next plans. Dont mind my typo error please God bless

I'm a staff of Access Bank who has worked for 5yrs and i applied for f1 VISA last year 5times but was denied VISA even after trying to convince the VO i will be coming back to the country. However my wife got her VISA the second time and now the rest is history as she's now doing her MSC in the state doing this period my wife was pregnant and she eventually gave birth in the US last year.

Please note that she is a registered student, who make payments, attend class and all. As such she apply for medical which was granted as same was backed with insurance and all. My challenge now is have started my MSC programme in Nigeria but have not set eyes on my baby since she was giving birth to plus the emotional stress on my wife she wants me over for a visit atleast to check upp on my baby as well. As such am planning to apply for F2 VISA we just submitted all required documents and all

My challenge now is that what are my chances of getting an F2 VISA. Note; Before she left she was already bearing my surname and all the document she used there is in my surname and all

I need candid advise please on what to do exactly. My fear is the baby involve tho she was not asked about that when we applied as she was just 2/3month pregnant so it was not obvious she was pregnant or should i not bring up my baby issue at the embassy when i apply. Its more than a year now have not set eyes on my wife and baby. I just planned to see them for my year vacation which is just a month. I will appreciate any advise from everyone as my wife is getting fed up and i intend to bring the baby back pending the time she finished her programme

GOD BLESS YOU

Not trying to sound discriminatory, rate of refusal is high among female VOs than Male VOs. This is based on the transcripts have read here

Morning people of God.

Which one is preferable to use as funding source for visa interview.

Treasury bill document or Company's statement of account?
Kindly advise as I need to know the best to go with
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by jelmusboy(m): 2:50pm On Aug 04, 2018
The truth is that the rate of refusal is just too MUCH. Maybe US consular have the belief that those applying late for visa are attending low tier universities.

Rate of refusal from July up till today is just crazy compared to what we have in May and June for Fall 2018.

If you are a genuine student, get your transcript together and refire. Try to know why you are refused and work on it.

If your transcript is with WES Canada, send a mail to them sharply to change it to ECA for IRCC. Not a big deal

Good day house. I just found out I made a mistake for my WES evaluation. I selected WES standard application for document by document evaluation instead of ECA for IRCC. I have already made payments . Pls has anyone experienced this before? What can i do?
