Hello great minds!

Please is it a must to blend your ogbono and egusi when bringing in?
A "dry spice" blender or "dry blender" will blend them for you. You'd need to buy one

I've been in position where I tried my all and I had to give in and ask God for help. I understand the work of prayers and I understand the role of hardwork. Though I understand your points but one should stick to whatever works for him.
No offence(about to offend) but this attitude and that of the 98% of Nairalanders that have given their "opinion" on this matter....is the same attitude our parents have/had that left us with a failed country called Nigeria....and to be quite honest..same attitude coming from our generation is quite scary

No one should be told to fast and pray out a stupid behaviour from a mighty grown person. If we dropped all these fast and pray advise and hold people accountable with our "full chest", the world will be a better place.

To whom it may concern please read the below..

Know this and know peace.......YOU ARE NOT A REHABILITATION CENTRE. IT IS NOT YOUR JOB TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR A TOXIC BEHAVIOUR. IT IS NOT YOUR JOB TO BABYSIT ANOTHER NAUGHTY GROWN PERSON WITH PRAYERS AND FASTING. IT IS NOT ANYONE'S JOB BUT THE SILLY PERSON's TO FIX THEMSELF.

Your advise is good but my concern is if the man will utilize this approach, if the reverse was the case. God is my all in all, but sustaining a marriage by one person's prayer is hard work.. When will she stop using prayer to reset his head? Can't she comfortably just stay happy knowing that she has a responsible man? This whole prayer advice sha. I can pray for one off decisions to turn out in my favor, but that I'll keep praying for my spouse to be reasonable an loving? Nah.. That's too much
cheesy

Now on a more serious note, I hope we are all going to WAKE UP from this very deep slumber and not rely on prayer alone come 2023 election and do the hard work of kicking these evil politicians out because the comments on this page regarding this woman's issue is depressing and is not giving me hope for the near future.

God has given us all free will. I hope we do not baby sit adults with prayers come 2023

It’s easier said than done, I’m pretty sure if you were in my shoes you won’t say this, it’s very painful cause I don’t deserve this happening. Imagine if it was the other way around, will you tell me to wait for karma? Or if I was your blood relation, won’t you want to get to the root of the matter? I just feel whatever is going on he should be man enough and feel me in, I wont kill him if he does.
Yep. It is easier said than done. Sometimes, there are two different types of advise from strangers.....
1. The one they give to fellow strangers
2. The one they give to family members or people really close to them.

I cannot tell you to sit and pray and I also cannot tell you to hit him hard. You are the one living out this story in this present moment and only you know how much it hurts.

It doesn't matter which way you go (sit and pray or hit him hard), there will be consequences (emotional and/or physical and/or psychological) from your actions. The real question though is ........"are you prepared to own whatever fall out from this with your full chest?"

Also, I have the plan of buying the following. Pls scrutinize my list and advice on any item that won't be allowed into Canada.

Small Bluetooth speaker
Electrical extension

Ogbono and Egusi
Several spices for peppersoup and stew
Crayfish, stock fish and various other dried fish
Rice, beans, garri
Dried pepper (not grinded)
Sachet Tomato, Knorr, curry, etc
Custard, and sugar.. I've heard that milk won't fly

Kindly scrutinize my list and advice what I should drop or what I should add to my luggage. I look forward to your kind responses. Thank you.
I don't live in Canada but your post here caught my attention. Bring everything(food related)you want to bring regardless if there is an abundance of same things in Canada.

I am one of those that left Nigeria many years ago and till date cannot eat noodles made here, or bouillon cubes that is not Knorr. I don't drink Milo and I don't buy sugar, so can't really say much about those ones but sugar is same everywhere so there might be no need for it

I have tried several bouillon cubes, noodles e.t.c and I can never get used to them so I end up going back to my knorr and naija noodles. I don't care if they costs me a arm and a leg, I wil buy them. I usually buy from Nigeria whenever I visit

If you end up liking their noodles in Canada or bouillon cubes then nothing spoil. If you don't, you have your Nigerian ones to fall back on.

I was advised not to bring some naija food ingredients and I listened to my advisors and regretted it cos then I ended up paying more to buy those same ingredients here cry

You won't really need Bluetooth speakers except it's one you own already and want to bring with you but no need buying one. You won't need extensions

All the best

She's just posting pictures from a completed trip. Look at the time stamp on the first photo, it shows 1st of January. Which means she isn't just heading there, it's a completed trip and she is posting pictures for us to see. That's how it works here...
The time stamp on the first photo showed 3rd of Jan (1/3/21) not first hence the question from the person you quoted.

With that being said, I don't believe she(OP) lied about the trip.

Are you sure about court marriage being the only marriage recognized by IRCC? Can you provide a link to that information. As far as I know, unless things have changed now, the requirement for marriage to be recognized in Canada is if the marriage is recognized in the jurisdiction where it was performed.

From personal experience (not hear say), I personally did not have a court marriage so also was my brother. We both had only Nikkah. He has been living in Canada since 1988 and I since 2001. So, unless things have changed, Nikkah is recognized in Canada since it is a recognized marriage in Nigeria were the marriage occurred.
I have read of several instances where customary wedding was accepted. Court wedding is not the only acceptable wedding by IRCC as different religion/cultural background comes into play here and they know and respect this.

Pay no mind to those who have such mindset of "as long as Nigeria favours me, everyone else can go to hell". People like that are inherently selfish and love the feeling of 'superiority' over the suffering masses.

Worst part is... the most basic things that are accessible to everyone in more developed nations is what they 'brag' about like it's some luxury. SMH
Some years ago, the government was giving out about $5000 to nursing students (diploma students studying for their bachelors and who were working in aged care). If I remember correctly it was 3000 first and 2000 upon completion of studies. It was for citizens and permanent residents. It was announced. Workplaces had the "how to apply" info on their notice boards.

If it were Nigeria, the oga of many organizations would keep it away from ALL workers and only share with family members and friends. It won't even be announced

If illiterates and semi-literates can access these services, what excuse does a typical middleclass/upper middleclass person havehuh
Who are these semi literates and illiterates you keep talking about? if anything, it's those who are educated and well connected that would have access to these freebies from "man know man". Are we talking about the same Nigeria? have you been to LUTH? or any public hospital in the East?

Have you been to the streets of lagos and seen those genuine beggars on the streets with impairment? why are those people not aware of this freebies you keep talking about? I visited my father in LUTH years back and discovered that there is a place for the rich and the poor in that same hospital. The poor were left unattended because they did not have the money to pay for care, yet you claim "illiterates and semi-literates" know about this fantasy freebie of yours.

Enough of the stories(that touches the heart) of how your wife enjoyed the same care as Boris Johnson when he was hospitalized for COVID19. Educate us on this freebie and how to get it. It is time to play your part in making Nigeria GREAT AGAIN. There are people who need this information. Do us all a favour and share this knowledge with us all. Help to save a life.

You sir, are a HUGEEEEE PART OF THE PROBLEM WE HAVE IN NIGERIA. Selfishness and not wanting others to benefit. You claim to have access to "free quality health care" in Nigeria but in the last few pages of this thread and many more to go, you are yet to disclose or share info with people who are unaware of this "freebie" you keep talking about. There is a special place for people like you on judgement day

You still haven't answered my question. Why is this freebie a secret? Why is there only a few people who know about this? why hasn't the minister of health/governors of each state/or President BUBU himself announced this to the nation's populace?

I was sponsored. After Uni one organization offered to sponsor me with no strings attached. I did not require work experience. They were desperate and I was available grin. Saved me time from applying even though I was eligible to apply myself. My PR visa came with no restrictions or obligation to the organization, so I could leave at anytime.

I would say 90% of my family and friends have either experienced armed robbery, kidnapping, failed healthcare system that ended in fatality in Nigeria. The older generation are used to it, but the younger generation all want to leave.
The health care system failed my family. My Father kept going to the doctor's but was told it was just a sprain until it became full blown cancer. When he got here and was assessed by doctors, the doctors were shocked that it wasn't discovered on time as it was the least aggressive form of cancer.

Anyways when we arrived Nigeria for his burial...everyone we knew kept telling my mum to make sure we traveled with security team for the burial. My mum discussed the idea with us and we all refused. Security team ke? for burial? in my father's land? what for? Around that same time, one of my mother's friend's son (arrived from the US) was kidnapped while visiting his grand mother. Once we heard the story, nobody told us to agree to have security with us....even the security sef, if offered the right price, would gladly abandon you for your enemies to kidnap cheesy

I just want to feel safe in my mother land. Is that too much to ask?

1. When I watched that sex for grades series I wept. I could not imagine what millions of students in Nigeria are going through. I did my undergraduate course in a first world country so I could not relate. I live in a country where your lecturers "cannot fitn't" force you to sleep with them for grades. We call them by their first names (first cultural shock I experienced), no aunty, uncle, brother, Mr, Mrs.

2. I hear in some hospitals, people are left to die because they do not have money to deposit before care.

3. Constant electricity is only for the rich. Every time I visit Nigeria (which is every year), the money you spend on diesel/fuel to run generator which causes unnecessary pollution is no joke

4. Someone here said he had access to some "secret"healthcare freebies. This person cannot see that the fact that this isn't open to all is one of the reasons why our healthcare system would never grow. In a sane and civilized country, your right and access to health care benefits is not a secret for people to only discuss with people they know.

Corruption and the in-efficacies of our government/laws/legislation/rules .... has affected our brain to the point that it is unable to distinguish what is right from wrong. Many are screwed

He all have scars and psychological trauma from what we experienced in that country.
I will never forget that day. I was very young then. He collapsed when he walked into the house. My mother and security rushed him to the clinic in the estate. The first girl in my family went out on the street screaming and shouting and asking God to protect him and keep him alive so he could see us through school. She was only 16 or 17 then(Now I remember I was in primary school). The sight of the blood gushing from the back of his head...he never grew his hair after that. He was always on "gorimakpa" grin.

Jokes aside, anyone that has the resources to send their children/family out of Nigeria should do so. Give yourself/family options

You've raised some good points so far... but regarding this snippet of your write up, I think it's fair to say that the reason why Nigerians apply to these "lower-ranking schools" is because they have a better chance of gaining admission. Top tier schools abroad will hardly take on students from African colleges/universities (except south Africa) due to the terribly poor standard of education these schools are globally known for.
I believe many lecturers in Nigeria enjoying failing students for the love of it. I remember my sister was told a long time ago by one lecturer that you have to "fail" or give low marks to students to justify to prove that you are a "strong" lecturer.

If schools were to be unbiased and go through the curriculum of the Nigerian graduates, they'd find that we do more in Nigeria. We just have shitty government and lecturers who are hell bent on making life hell for students and not giving them the grades they deserve with all the effort they have put in.

Over the weekend I was chatting with a Zambian/British nurse who is preparing to sit for the NCLEX for her move to North America. She schooled in the UK. After lamenting how difficult the exam was the first time, this lady told me that her 2 Nigerian colleagues(both studied in Nigeria) only had to sit the exam once and passed. Apparently it is what they were taught in school plus their clinical experience working as Nurses in Nigeria before leaving the country.

.Every Nigerian has been affected by the insecurity plaguing the country. One of the memories I remember as a child was when my family got attacked by armed robbers along Benin-Ore expressway and later in my University days when my Dad got kidnapped for a week.

The reason most Nigerians choose to relocate abroad is to sleep with two eyes closed and to live in environment where the security of their family is guaranteed.
Many many years ago, I believe I was still in Primary School or early secondary school. My late father used to enjoy his evening walks. We always looked forward to his return because he would always buy us suya. On this faithful day he came back blood dripping from the back of his head. He was attacked by robbers, they collected his wallet and used an iron rod to hit him at the back of his head. Nigeria has been unsafe for a very long time
